- I got a quick ride on a R1200 GS at BMW Motorrad day at Ryka's last year.
I wasn't expecting to get out on one so this is not an in depth review, more of a quick impressions video as I only had the bike for around 35 mins.
Hopefully I can test the 2019 1250 at some point this year and get a better video.

@@skesby What are those? Gears?? On a serious note, I very rarely ride a 1 hour test ride like I would a normal ride. I always mess about with throttle brakes, kinda see what she does.

@@skesby I've ridden a few HD's now, I've really enjoyed them. I will be getting th R1250GS soon for a while. Cannot wait!

Not trying to be picky but the BMW boxer engines have shed loads of torque but you didn't seem to get above third or fourth gear throughout the ride. 80 mph on the dual carriageway in fourth gear is not using the potential of this engine for quiet, relaxed cruising.
It was a 45 min test ride in a group led by an instructor. It was only a taste of what the bike is about. Never ridden a boxer before this so I was just having fun on it. Hopefully I'll get a good go on a 1250 soon for a few hours on my own.
@@Englishbikerdan Thanks for your reply Dan. I've ridden thousands of miles on various BMW boxer engined bikes including police R1200RTs and am a total fan of the engine and its characteristics. I've not ridden the 1250 yet but I hope you get the chance to take one out for an extended test ride. Looking forwrad to the video. Cheers mate

Because it's a test ride. Why would I plod along in 6th!? I'd fall asleep. Mind you this is an old duffers bike so.... 😂

I wonder how it compares to the KTM 1290 Super Adventure
I think the Super Duke would spank the pants off it in terms of outright performance. Not sure about comfort though!
@@Englishbikerdan yes, if i remember right there's about a 30 hp difference, about comfort and off road performance i really have no idea
Any plans to test Honda VFR800 or Africa Twin ?
I would like to test the Africa Twin but not sure my little legs would reach the floor! 😂
EnglishBikerDan ya I have the same problem, Damn genetics! If you were spending your money would you take the GS or MT10?
@@theincrediblesulk5543 Ooh, totally different bikes and it depends on the circumstance. If I could only have 1 bike, the GS but if I could have 2, the MT10!

5 foot 7 inches.

Who the heck rides the along at 70 /80 mph in 4th 😖reminds me of my nan driving her Morris 1100 screaming along in 2nd gear on an A road !
Someone used to inline 4 engines! Riding at 4,500 rpm was normal to me!
