My suggestion for cutting a tape roll would be to score it lightly all the way around with the x-acto or box knife-just enough to create a groove.
Then go around multiple times, cutting a little deeper each time.
It’s easier, safer, and cleaner. It’s the technique we used in art boards and book boards in art school.
    Your chandelier turned out great!

I would love to see some fairy tale, witchy, cookwear. Like a heavy cast iron pot that almost resembles a cauldron.
And maybe a shelf of potions and medicines. I’m imaging this house and character as like a benevolent woods witch who brews medicines and makes love charms.

A flush cut saw would be a great tool for cutting that tape roll. Thin, flat, and sharp for nice even lines and would make quick work of that roll. Im going to make some of these chandeliers for my new set.

Yes did a fantastic job on this and I’m not sure how I missed it. So I’ve miss a few 1/6 scale plants and what I used was cut up craft brown felt that I purchased at Walmart and then my husband bought black felt from the fabric store for a dollar. I cut it up into fine strips and then chop those up into tiny squares. I use hot glue to glue them into my clay pots that I made really quick and painted. I just made crooked handmade pottery, not spun off a wheel. Also I have seen people use, used dried coffee grounds. You dry them in a 9x12 cake pan with lots of paper towels (you could also use newspaper) laying on the bottom of the pan to suck up the moisture then I believe that they glued it in with hot glue also. I hade my plants out of paper but I see you can use real plants too. As far as art goes, I cut up an old calendar. They always seem to have the back page with tiny doubles of the calendar months. To frame mine, I mounted them onto scrap pieces of foam board first, then I painted coffee stirs brown and rubbed them off so it looks like stain, I cut the two on the sides the same height as the picture and the top and bottom ones the width with the side pieces glued onto the foam board. They coffee stirs are almost the depth of the picture once you have mounted it to the foam board. They turned out really nice and if I can ever figure out how to send you a picture I will of both. I tried my easy cutter for the coffee stirs but I ended up using my XActo knife. It saves a lot of scissor cutting if you have a ruler and a rotary cutting tool for fabric to cut the felt. I bunched up about 5-6 pieces in my hand and then cut them with my scissors. Hope I have given you some ideas for future reference. I searched TH-cam a lot for different methods that someone else has used and it worked out for them.

I’m a big fan of cardboard, but most of my projects have been large scale. Time to scale it down and try miniatures.
My cutting method for a tape roll , believe it or not, is using a steak knife to “saw” through the cardboard. (It doesn’t bend as much as a box cutter.)

    Great ideas! Thank you!
Dried Pine needles would make good broom bristles! Just a thought.
A suggestion for the coffee grounds soil .. to help keep the glue from "clumping" over the coffee grounds, spray the grounds with some rubbing alcohol first.
Use a hacksaw or coping saw for the tape roll.
    Keep up the great work!

Ara, how fun is this project?! I enjoy watching your creativity just evolve. Sadly, I am no longer on Facebook, so I don't get to see or participate in your project Wednesdays--but I always wait in eagerness to see what you have created next. I do miss the Captain's Quarters; however, I know how important it is to step away from projects now and again to do something else. Your dripping candles and the tutorial were so helpful and fun. One of the qualities about your art approach I appreciate the most (like Sharon Ojala) is that you are so willing to take risks, to make "mistakes", and to allow some things to be wonky (I may have mentioned this before, but it is worth repeating). Thank you again for sharing with us.

As you probably have guessed, I adore you projects (even if I don't always comment) :) The cardboard house has inspired me to think outside the box (so to speak) and now I find myself on a bus on my way to purchase some necessities (wood filler, dry wall spackle, and wood glue) I don't have a ton of space so I am thinking to do 1:24 scale...now to decide just how I want to proceed...I have thought of different houses in the Harry Potter world, but don't think I want to make something so "known" but I will get going on something soon...I hope!

You should add gold to the leave decorations in the living room so it matches the bedroom

Maybe a shallow jar or can cover could for a pool or pond. And bottle caps as bowls.

It’s coming along so nicely that it’s making me even more excited to build my dollhouse!
Because we didn’t have a lot of money while I was growing up I didn’t have many toys, so I’ve been buying or making them now!!😁

For cutting the sturdy round cardboard, a small size hacksaw with a fine blade would work like a charm.

Another great video! That intro made my day! It's been so much fun (and inspiring) to see this project come to life from such humble beginnings. And what a way to include something personal your daughter created! Thank you!

Those accessories were awesome. If you haven’t cut the string on the chandelier it would look cool left hanging so Ms. Periwinkle can replace the candles when needed😍 Loved the video thx❤️

I would have never thought of that but I love it! I made her a bit short so it would make sense she needs it to be lowered ;) Thank you Liz!

I loved everything in this video! 2 comments: I adore the framed art from your kiddo and I love that easy cutter. It’s now on my list of things I “need” 😆
I’ve been kicking around the idea of making my own fairy miniature home, but I’m going to start small with overhauling a planter that needs some TLC.
Thanks for the vid! Subscribed 💗
