Have a look at the videos section as I have one I show the basic wiring I do :) I'm sure there is a better way of doing it... :P but it's been good so far.

What type of LEDs are you using?
I bought the smallest ones I could find from a shop that sell train modelling things :) The brand is Evemodel. C0603WM-20-EU Draht 20cm warm white. x
