The first time I had a panic attack I wanted to scream but I couldn’t get enough air to. I was sweating everywhere in my body and I was frozen in place but shaking. People talking to me made me panic more since I was crowded (at school) nobody knew what to do not even the teachers. I just sat in the corner of the room breathing heavy and sweating and shaking until my I calmed down not all the way but enough to walk down to the counselor. She asked if she could touch me and I nodded my head no. She calmly tried to make my breathing regular by talking to me and I came back to class about 10 minutes later when I was sure I could go back to class. Everybody stared at me and looked at me differently the rest of the day. I’ve been doing everything I possibly can to not get them at school anymore but it’s online now so that’s good 🤷‍♀️

I really love this video and agree with all of the content of this video! Thank you! I wonder if you could do this video again with talking a little slower and calmer? I would love to send this to clients but your pacing is really fast and a little anxiety producing. I mean this feedback with great care and compassion.

So what do you do when your teen has daily panic attacks and it sets off your younger kids who then have a panic attack. Dealing with three people who have panic attacks and remaining calm seems impossible.

I know I’m kinda late but.. what if the cause of the panic attack is because of a specific memory let’s say the person keeps seeing a past bully or a past abuser what should we do to help with the grounding?

Just letting you know that I get this too:) it’s a symptom of when your having a panic attack. You feel like your aren’t getting enough air or a choking sensation. I first want to tell you that it’s just your anxiety and you actually are getting the oxygen you need. You are just panicking and think you can’t breath. Trust me :) and when you get that feeling just keep reminding yourself that it is your anxiety.

Not sure, but make sure you ask for their consent and explain exactly what you're gonna do

Generally good idea to just be near them and have your hand close if they want touch they will take your hand
