    My daughter who's 16 suffers from horrendous anxiety and acute depression, her panic attacks are awful. She was told today by one of her tutors that she might be 'too sick' to be in their college. I am so furious that the tutor told her this, the college know her situation and to say this to her was so dis-respectful. When my daughter got home she just broke down in tears, saying how humiliated she felt. I found your vlog (this vlog) and showed it to my daughter to let her know she is not alone. I just want to say thank you so much for putting this on. People have to start understanding mental illness a lot more, it is not shameful to say you suffer from it so why are people still avoiding the subject. Thanks again Zoe, you're a good person xx

    This was the first video I watched by Zoe. And I have now overcome pretty much most of my anxiety, although I still have it, I now know how to cope with it. If anyone reads this, please see a therapist. I promise you it helps! It really helped me. X

    • @xSerenaVDWoodsen
      @xSerenaVDWoodsen 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Tess Blair Please tell your parents and please get help. It's too much to go around with something like anxiety all by yourself. It's not just going to stop. If you don't get help it may turn out worse and not treatable with only therapy. No one should live with anxiety. It CAN and WILL get better with treatment. Trust me. I was afraid and ashamed at first too. But there's literally nothing to be afraid or ashamed of. It's perfectly common and normal to have anxiety. And there is ways to get out it. Do it for yourself. You will thank yourself so much afterwards. You deserve to get that burden off your shoulders. Please just tell someone about it. You deserve to feel better.

      What If someone has anxiety because people bully him laugh at him etc.?
      I do and even when I go to a therapist YES IT HELPS but when I go outside and meet someone he/she starts laughing and the panic attacks ..start again...

    • @xSerenaVDWoodsen
      @xSerenaVDWoodsen 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Johanna Wright Rome wasn't built in one day. You need to give yourself time. For some people therapy isn't enough. I know a lot of people who take medication as well. You know yourself better than anyone else, so you need to talk to your therapist and your doctor. They can help you way better than I can. I wish you the best in life. Be strong! One day the bullies will stop. They will grow up. You will grow up, and everything will be fine again. You can do this! Wishing you the best xx

    • @xSerenaVDWoodsen
      @xSerenaVDWoodsen 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** That is perfectly normal. A lot of people have that. A close friend of mine had the same issue as you. After going to a therapist for approx. 6 months, those situations no longer scared her, and she could be among a large group of people with no problem. I am not saying yours will disappear within the same time frame, because everything is different. But it is just to give you an example. Even though it might seem impossible, you can overcome your fears! But it is better to get help, because this is the only way to sort it out. Good luck! I hope you tell your parents! xx

    Does anyone else get really bad anxiety attacks at tiny little things, like crossing busy roads? I feel like I want to start crying when I'm under tiny pressure, my face feels as though it's burning, heart beating really fast, and vision going blurry. Sometimes I feel like I just want to scream, even at the smallest of things, like saying my name for the school register. It's a really awful thing to live with, and this video just kind of eases it a bit, knowing that other people have the same problem. Thank you so much Zoe, you are amazing 💕

    i'm having an anxiety attack right now, and i decided to watch this video. thank you so much for your bravery and honesty, i can only imagine how difficult it was for you to speak about it out loud, but i am proud of you. my anxiety attacks usually come out of nowhere, which is really frustrating. i've kinda got used to it now, as i've had anxiety for years now. i don't think my mum completely gets what anxiety is all about, but she's really trying and that means a lot; also my friends are really supportive and are proud of my silliest achievements as taking the bus alone or going for a grocery shopping. thank you again for this video, it's really good to know that there is someone who understands it and does't think it's ridiculous. you're really inspiring, zoe, and i wish you all the best. x

      That sounds like a panic attack. Definitely look more into it and talk to a doctor (and possibly even a therapist) a doctor will diagnose you and a therapist will help you understand your triggers. They can’t always be avoided or stopped, but power is knowledge and the more you know about them the easier they are to get through.

    Hey, Zoe? So, in the beginning, you said if you helped one person, you'd be happy. I know this is an old video, but this did help me so so so much. For a few years, I've been struggling with minor panic disorder and social anxiety. This video helped a lot and helped me explain to my friends and family how it feels and what happens and how they can help. Also, if it helps, a thing I use to help calm down when I'm panicking or feeling down in public, I always carry around a very small stuffed animal that I rub and try to describe to anybody around. It helps me focus on one thing and it calms me down. I don't know if that helps others, but it's just another tip. Again, thank you so much for making this video, it helped me a lot and others around me. Ily Zoe!

      +Emma Carnahan I don't think there are reasons, though I'm definitely not a doctor😂 another technique I found out about is called "grounding"
      Look around and find
      -5things you can see
      -4things you can hear
      -3things you can feel
      -2things you can smell
      -1thing you can touch
      It really does help! Handy if you can't use the other methods or the don't work. Hope that helps some people😊

    I spend nights on end screaming and shaking and kicking my bed and I can't control it. Some days I'm completely fine but other days I won't talk at all and just basically suffer in silence. I then joined a drama club at my school and it really helped me out, I was able to kind of release my emotions through my drama and acting. I also found that sleeping with a lavender scent on my pillow really helped or drinking mint tea before bed. So many people suffer from anxiety or depression in many different ways so there are multiple ways to help. If you are suffering from anxiety please please please don't suffer in silence like I did, it just makes things worse. Find those few things that make you happy, it could be a person, an activity, a scent and food anything! Just find that thing and use it to help you and regain your strength. I promise you aren't alone. Stay strong ❤️

    As a person who has frequent panic attacks, I've kind of mastered how to deal with them and for those of you who are struggling, DO NOT GO IN A SMALL SPACE. When I first started having panic attacks, I would go in my closet to cry and scream into my pillow, and I became really claustrophobic and suicidal. I think I did it because i thought it would help to be alone in a simple room with quiet but it made it worse. Go outside. Lay in the grass and clear your thoughts. When I was in the closet, I'd start screaming and I would curl up in a ball unable to breathe and I couldn't think cuz my mouth was saying "I just want to die please god let me die" and I don't know why I said that but I just did and I'm telling you going outside and focusing on a tree or a building and imagining that tomorrow is a new day and you'll be fine it really makes it pass quicker

    I feel so blessed to be able to turn on my laptop, open up to youtube, and know that I can sit down and listen to you speak about problems everyday people have. There are lots of youtubers out there, many that I am subscribed to, but I can sincerely say that you are the only one that makes me feel human; normal, even. I feel like you don't do this for fame, or for praise, but for the well-being of others. I am going to tell my story not for attention, but rather, to show you what an impact you have made on my life.
    I have suffered with depression and anxiety from a very young age, not always even knowing that they had labels. My parents were separated when I was very little, and so I had to deal with being tossed around from one parent to the other. I felt like a plastic bag, and I often didn't speak to anybody about it. They never understood, anyway. I thought I was weird, and that there was something wrong with me. I am an introvert by nature, what can I say??
    When I was five years old, my mother passed away suddenly, leaving me and my two brothers in the hands of my father. The thing is, he didn't know how to take on the role of a parent on his own. We moved across the United States to live with our grandparents, who helped my dad take care of us.
    Fast forward a couple years, and my grandma passed away. My grandpa got re-married, and my father, brothers, and I moved into our own apartment. I let go of the few friends I had at school, and had to start a whole new life my fifth grade year.
    Moving became traumatizing. In this process, I developed a scar, as it had reminded me of moving due to the loss of my mom. Now I was moving due to the loss of my grandmother. Thus, moving became associated with death.
    I didn't want to make any new friends because I was afraid I would have to say goodbye to them one day, too. I would get anxious in social situations, and kids wouldn't talk to me because I was awkward. The truth was, I only ever wanted somebody to talk to that I knew would always be there.
    I attempted to make friends in junior high, but that didn't work. They turned into bullies, and often called me a boy. I grew up without a mother figure, and so I took on form my brother's actions and traits. so yes, I was always a bit of a tom boy.
    I developed insecurities from this I never felt like a girl, and I never felt like I fit in with the crowd. I would sit alone at lunch just to avoid social situations. There was one time where my anxiety got so out of control that I ran to the bathroom during lunch and started hyperventilating, as well as heavily sobbing. That was my first panic attack.
    I never spoke to anybody about it. I didn't think anybody could relate, and regardless, I had no friends to tell. Until one day, I met my best friend who will remain nameless. It was like we clicked instantly. She knew exactly what I was going through, and she helped a lot.
    Even though I had somebody to talk to now, she couldn't always be there,and I understood that. In those times of need, I would have panic attacks and melt downs, yet nobody was there. And then I found youtube.
    At first I found it embarrassing to take advice and wisdom from somebody on my laptop screen who I had never met, but soon came to embrace it. I mean, among the millions of viewers some of my favorite youtubers get, there were bound to be some teens who felt just like me.
    So Zoe, in all of this ( I deeply apologize for the lengthiness), I have grown to be myself and find new comforts daily because I see how you step out of your shell and express yourself on camera, despite the pressure. You inspire me to conquer obstacles that life throws my way, and you make me feel normal.
    I can never thank you enough for your videos. It would mean all the world to me if you could see this. I won't count on it, but at least I can say I made an effort. xoxo

Because it was oddly comforting to know that I’m NOT alone.

    So, I really want to share this because it is a symptom of panic attacks that I feel may happen to others and may be very scary. I started getting panic attacks in junior high and things like tests during school (accompanied with silence) would set them off. Like Zoe said, my senses would heighten and things would get very loud. It made the scratching of pencils during a test, for example, sound as if they were right in my ear. But another thing was that time sped up. I was not aware of actual/regular time, and so things like moving or walking or talking felt really scary because I didn't know if I was moving too fast or too slow since everything/everyone else around me felt like it had sped up. It was like someone had turned on the fast forward button in real life. My attacks are very infrequent now and I can handle them much better, but I had to learn tricks to help myself. If anyone needs help with their anxiety or attacks please feel free to send me a message. And if anyone is experiencing what I did please don't be afraid and don't think you are alone.

    What I want in anxiety attacks depends on how anxious I am. I reach point where I do not want to be touched or spoken to. On my way calming down, I want a hug. I don't want anything to go in my mouth but my throat is so dry. I want to lie down, but I feel I need to keep moving. I want a distraction, but I don't want to do anything. I feel so hot but I'm shaking from cold. I want everyone to go away but I don't want to be alone. Its utter terror, and it feels completely justified, even if you've got no idea why you are panicking.

      Paula C I know. People mistake your fear and distress for being short-tempered or annoyed. Have you spoken to people about it? I'm no therapist, but I don't know how I could get through my anxiety without my Mum. Also, a way i tend to deal with it is distraction. I watch TH-cam, paint my nails, etc. It's easy for people to mistake behavior when they don't know what's going on, so please talk to someone. I am not great at advice and I'm no therapist, but I understand what you are going through. I send my love Xxxxxxxxx

    This helped me 3 years after it was uploaded! I have hidden for so long! I am going to say yes to everything within reason from now on! I have had panic attacks for almost a year now and a few months ago depression. Sometimes it gets too much! I've felt unwanted and un needed! I live my life by 'what if' and I've learnt to keep my feelings to myself because I don't want to worry other people! I'm just going to say yes to every opportunity and meet my friends more, go to family gatherings and go to meals out. To be fair. I'm done hiding. I am going to be myself more! I will try my best!

      +Alisha OConnor a bit better, still have panic attacks but my depression is getting better. I said yes to a lot more things and it's surprising how I have coped considering I've had panic attacks now for almost a year and that sounds so little time but it has effected my life so quickly. I can remember each panic attack and I know for me it is daunting. I had a boyfriend not long ago. However he dumped me and I had a panic attack after and I still unfortunately have them often but if I need to be more confident and do more things, I always turn to this video

      +Alisha OConnor thanks, I am much better! My best friend protects me around him and today was my first day back after the winter holidays and he dumped me 11th December. And I've said to my best friend to stop protecting me, I'm going to be happy around him and hopefully not have a panic attack if he comes near me xox
      I had a panic attack today actually because I was scared to go to school and see people. It sounds stupid but I was afraid what people would do and my heart went faster, I felt shaky and I was sweaty and my hands clamed up. I went up to my room and opened my windows, however if I have a panic attack at school, I can't take the breath of fresh air that I need to calm me down x

    I, too, have panic disorder. I was diagnosed at 10 and you can imagine how isolating that could feel for a kid. I remember how angry I would be with myself when I'd have to call my mom to pick me up from a friend's house at midnight because I was having a panic attack and how embarrassed at be at the confused look on my friend's faces. Sunday nights, too, were a time when I would consistently panic, laying in bed thinking about Monday. I would always ask myself why other people didn't have this problem, why couldn't I just be a normal, carefree kid? I even put myself in dangerous positions, trying to escape that 'trapped' sensation (like trying to exit a moving car...).
    Now, at 20 years old, I still feel this way, despite my anxiety being generally under control (through a lot of trial and error with medication and the development of coping techniques). I rarely have panic attacks now, but when I do, I end up hating myself for a while afterwards. It's really comforting to know that I'm not alone in this, and that people I admire, like you, may have felt similarly.
    I find that lately, the biggest source of panic for me is boys and this makes me feel SO PATHETIC. I know it's normal to be nervous around boys but not to the extent that I feel. I'm so scared that I'm never going to be able to have a serious relationship.
    Anyway, this was kind of cathartic to write and thank you so much, Zoe, for putting a lot of the feelings I have into words.

    ok so, i have a lot to say. i know zoe will probably never see this but that's ok.
    when I first watched this video I was 13 I believe, which was over 4 years ago. i watched it and I honestly did not understand anything that was talked about. the word anxiety wasn't even a part of my dictionary. it confused me that someone would feel this way and i truly did not understand it.
    fast forward about 3 or 4 months and i had my first panic attack. it was the scariest moment of my life and i didnt know what to do. no one was home and i needed some comfort and for some reason i remembered watching this video and so I brought myself to my feet, walked upstairs whilst crying hysterically, opened my dad's laptop and watched the video. even though at the time it didn't necessarily make me feel more calm, knowing that someone understood the way i was feeling and seeing that someone could put it into words gave me the feeling that it would be ok. i've been a subscriber of yours since i was 12, and now I'm 17 and a half. I honestly don't know what would have happened that night if I hadn't watched this video. Of course I would have survived it, but I probably would have taken a lot longer to seek help. It still took me a year after that (a year full of tests, digestive problems, unhealthy eating habits, isolation, and fear) to see a psychologist but I decided to do that and it was the best decision I ever made. I am so much happier now and I honestly never thought that would be possible. I just wanted to say, if you are struggling with anxiety or panic attacks, you can get better. please seek help, don't tell your self to get over it, tell yourself to get through it. and zoe thank you so much for making this video.

    ive been dealing with depression and anxiety , and its really complicated . I tried seeing counselors at school and my parents would take me to the doctor .. but it just made me feel ashamed and made me feel worse .. especially at school . people would stare at me judge me for getting help and it just made things worse ,,, I was dealing with a lot of fake people and fake friends and I was being bullied .... its something really hard to explain , I think its better to take it slowly and solve it on my own and I am doing better now , slowly one step at time I know I can get better I still deal with all those people because of school and the small town I llive in , but I just have to stay strong and try to ignore and move on because people who judge u and bully u have no life and one day the sun will come out and everything all of the sadness will go away and all those people who bully u wont matter . ... I get anxiety attacks every Sunday before school. I get them during school too. I'm 14. I never know what makes me panic and everyone asks what's happening when I suddenly go quiet during a conversation. I usually shake but I've never cried or anything. My heart rate, heart pressure and adrenaline level increases. I go numb in my extremities and I have cold sweats. I rarely feel sick though. The awful thing is, my teachers have a strict rule which says that you can't leave the class for any reason during a lesson, which means I just have to sit there, looking scared and hot and whatnot. Eventually, I found someone with anxiety and we can help eachother through panic attacks and anxiety.

      +FrogsVlogs I'm so glad that you found someone to talk to about this. Remember, everything is temporary. This will eventually go away, or at least lessen. I'm going through a similar thing, and I hope what I say helps slightly, even if it is just me spouting nonsense.I've been suffering from anxiety for about just under 2 years, and just talking to my friend about it and just getting everything out, made me feel so much better. Even if that person can't exactly help you professionally, it will make you feel better to get what your feeling, out of your system. I hope that this helps. I don't know if it has, but I want to help people who are suffering from these kind of things. I'm always here if you need to talk. This will fade, and you will get better.

      how about showing them this video if you feel like you can't tell them verbally ... like ask them to please watch it and tell them it's the same for you (or write them a letter if it's still hard to ask them to watch it) and then after they watch it they probably will come to you to calmly talk and make you feel accepted the way you are and then think together with you for ways to treat this. when you have something like that you need to tell people who are close to you so they can reach out for you. you shouldn't suffer from it and deal with it alone they're your parents they will help you and be there for you if you need them.

    Watching this while taking a panic attack. It's so reassuring to know that so many other people experience this as I always think I'm weird, or dying. So I know hardly anyone will read this but I'm going to share about my anxiety to get it off my chest. I have an extreme fear of vomiting. I'm afraid of vomiting in public, around people at home & I constantly analyse other people's behaviour wondering if they are showing symptoms of illness. They usually happen at school, or in bed. When I feel slightly trapped or like if I wanted to leave I couldn't. When it happens my whole body is overcome with shivers, I get hot, I can't stop shaking & I have a lump in my throat. My heart pounds. They have started happening nearly twice a week. I always act so brave and hate speaking to my parents about this, it has been happening for 2 years, nearly 3, and I only told my mum last week. I am constantly afraid of vomiting, so I always feel sick as I am afraid of this ever happening. Probably sounds so weird but yeah I'm so glad to get this off my chest.

    I'm 14years old right now, and i have been having several panic attacks before but, i didn't know what was it which is make me feel really scared of it, and think about so many unnecessary things that make that panic attack worse
    I don't have it everyday, but i usually have it in cinema (when the movie was going to be played), in the night when i was going to sleep, and sometimes when i was working on my exam in school, it's completely silence and BAM suddenly there's a panic attack
    I used to don't know what is it, and just trying to deal with it alone, but now, after i watch this i know that i'm not alone, and you know zoe, even though at first when i started watching this video i felt like kinda anxious and my heart beats faster bc i think it will not be anyway to cure this, and i'm really weird but no, this video turns out really helpful and kinda calm me down
    Really, i just wanna say thank you for you to post this video, you're the best and i hope i can handle all of this panic attack too, even though i'm not having it daily, like panic attack everyday, but still, when i have it sometimes it just freaks me up and i'm just urghhh feel like the worst human being ever
    But really, really, thank you zoe

    hey zoe, ik this video is slightly old, but i watch this sometimes and i love it. you really opened me up to the world of panic attacks and like helping me figure out why i am always sick (hot shivers) and heart racing and over sensitivity and all of that stuff. you helped me figure out how to help myself not be miserable all of the time, i still have panic attacks and have had them for about 1 or 2 years now and the only reason why i know somewhat of what was going on was specifically because of this video. i got help and my doctor gave me medicine for anxiety, but it’s strange, i still have it, but not as much and it almost ALWAYS happens at school and sometimes i can’t cope, so i just sit there silently until the bell rings (inducing more anxiety because it’s a horrible sound) and continues all day until i get home and into bed. recently, i have said yes to more things, and put myself out there more and it feels great!! even though i still suffer from anxiety, i’ve found other ways to cope, such as music or especially finishing homework early. also, i completely agree with what you said about people who don’t suffer from it, and don’t understand, or are just ignorant. but i just wanted to say thank you for making my mental state better and easier to deal with, and for being a huge positive influence in my life. i’ve been watching your videos for about 3 years now and now at school, i’m known as the smiling, happy, and positive person!! love you zoe, stay strong and keep being you!!

    The other day I got a panic attack on the bus on my way to school. I didn't know what to do I was terrified. The fact that I was not going to be able to get out of the bus did not help me it just made me feel worse. I just sat there beside my little sister (5-year-old) and thought:"I can't let it show now, I just cant. You can do it Isidora!"
    And by the time I felt better, but the panic still didn't go away. So as i started breathing so fast a person my age (13) turned and said:" Are you alright?"
    I looked up at him trying to hide all of the things that were going on, but it was still going out. I just shook my head and I felt terrible. Then i felt his hand on my shoulder, he said:"Panic?" I nodded and he said:"Relax and breathe deeply." And after a few minutes I felt better and I thanked him.
    Im sooo soo thankful to him. 😊

    After years dealing with anxiety and panic attacks, and afters years not letting that be a reason to stop pursuit my dreams and litterally have to build everything around me alone (university, work, travel alone for work, etc), i'm now dealing again with panic attacks in a stage that i never ever had before (the type that i can't physically walk and move my hands), i cant drive anymore because of the fear, even be in a car is getting difficult, i am always worring abut work because i live very far (thankfully i can work from home, but not forever), and i remember this video that you made a long time ago, and the fact that i see someone speaks out lot what i'm felling it helps a lot! I'm not trying to stop doing things, but i kinda am, because is very very difficult! When i am not having a panic attack i am very afraid of having one.. i'm tired! Thank god i have my terapist but it's very very difficult, sometimes i am angry, and sometimes i just want to cry a lot!

    Anxiety is the deeper you, you've been ignoring telling you, you need to change things in your life. Take a look at your diet, how much do you exercise? Are you facing your anxiety? A situation could trigger that deeper you you've been trying to bury to the point it over whelms and consumes you until you change something and stick to it.

      Mad V that's not quite how anxiety works. Or any mental illness for that matter.

      @DarthMadV 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EndlessSky26 I study mental health i know what i'm talking about and i have my own mental health issues such as anxiety and depression but i have greatly improved the state of my mind through diet(cutting down sugar/coffee and junk food), long walks, cardio, weights & practising meditation(Keeping the mind silent). 528 Frequency Music and yoga. Your diet can be your medicine any voice in your head is hard to ignore but the more you give in to it's cravings the stronger it gets, you should always go with your gut when it comes to food, science has discovered the Gut your second brain because it has over 100 million neurones. Think of food and drinks such as Herbal Tea as medicine for your emotions.

    • @DarthMadV
      @DarthMadV 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      EndlessSky26 I didn't say it would cure you, it helps in the therapeutic process of easing the severity of how much anxiety and depression you feel. Healthy or necessary Food and drinks are natural medicine for the body. It's also the fact that being healthy takes major effort to stick with there for the reward is greater when you push yourself to be healthier. Where as when you're unhealthy majority of the time you're not even thinking about the food and amount of sugar/caffeine you're putting into your body and your life becomes more of a blur.

    I have had anxiety for a while and just recently developed PTSD from a really traumatic incident. I have anxiety/panic attacks because of this, and they are usually triggered by fear or just general anxiousness. I had an attack in one of my classes during a test not long ago, and it was really bad. When I have panic attacks I start to shake and my arms or legs will feel numb and I'll kind of space out. I totally understand how you feel and what you're going through. I also get very claustrophobic now, which makes me very anxious in crowed spaces, like busy hallways and stores. But I digress. Thank you for making this video; it's nice to know that someone if going through the same things as you . :)

    I've suffered from anxiety and panic attacks since I was 8 and I've learned that if you bottle up that anxiety it's like blowing air into a balloon the more you blow into the ballon the more likely it's gonna pop. The panic attack is the release. What a lot of people don't know is if you feel anxious find something to distract yourself and calm you down. Sometimes it can be the weirdest things to distract you but for me I carry round blue tac in my pocket and if I get anxious I mess with it and make it into people and that distracts me from the thoughts inside my head and if I can't distract myself and I'm gonna have a panic attack and I know I am to calm me down I eat sweets and listen to Justin Bieber and don't talk because that's what calms me down. If you suffer from panic attacks and anxiety I highly recommend finding different ways to distract you and calm you down. Everyone's panic and anxieties are different. So if you read or hear about someone who has it from this or this amount of time don't worry because it won't happen to you as everyone's different. But having someone like Zoe who shows that your not alone really does help.

  • @phoebejones5411
    @phoebejones5411 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    This really helped, Zoe! I've always found my anxiety as such a struggle, and sometimes I just feel really awful about it. A lot of people say anxiety is no big deal, but that's because they haven't gone through it. If you've never had a panic attack, no one will ever be able to describe it to you properly. Anxiety is a really big burden on my life, and I've been trying to get over it for years, and what's worse is that I've never had the guts to tell any of my friends. I go through it alone. Thank you for making this though, I feel less alone about it, especially about reading all the comments of people going through the same as me!

  • @RRFC2MUCH

    I completely failed my English talking test because of my anxiety. I started talking then sort of lost it and had a massive panic attack. I had to lie and tell people in my class because when I had panic attacks previously they constantly took the piss out of me. I can't stand up in class anymore, I don't want to answer questions in class anymore either, it doesn't help that some of my teachers have a tendency to say something about us.
    My mum doesn't think I actually have anxiety even though the doctors said so themselves. I have to pretend all the time that I'm ok when I really ament. I feel like I can't express myself at all because I worry far to much about what others may think of me.
    Even writing this comment is making me feel anxious. I love to watch your videos because I feel like I can relate to you in a way.

  • @AngelinaBee143
    @AngelinaBee143 9 ปีที่แล้ว +51

    ok so I'm gonna say this here and hopefully I'm not the only one going through this kind of anxiety and panic attacks. I usually feel anxious when I'm out in a place where I feel people will judge me, for example the grocery store or a park or in the middle of a class. when I feel anxious, I became extremely hot and sweaty, I don't want anyone to talk to me AT ALL. the easiest way for me to calm down is to cool down and to be alone. but at the same time I feel like I need someone to help me calm down, even though my body says otherwise. my panic attacks consist of sweats, crying and a ton of water coming from my eyes, I heave, shake and feel like everyone can tell. I don't really know what triggers my panic attacks, they happen anywhere and at anytime. my first panic attack happened during a thunderstorm and it was the worst night of my existence. I literally felt like I was going to die, I was so paranoid and scared. ever since this first panic attack I've always gotten a panic attack during thunderstorms which is so stupid but idk, thought I'd share this.

      I'm the same way but I haven't been to a doctor for diagnosis, just taken online tests and talked to other friends that are and I'm pretty convinced I have some form of social anxiety. I think the first thing I need to "say yes" to is seeing a doctor about it. Ironically enough the thought seeing a doctor to help with my anxiety gives me anxiety 😅❤️

      Yep mines lasted about an hour now my throat tickles but it can help to do this that I'm about to tell you tap your cheekbone any one or the soft part of your palm and think about how high your panic is right now let's say it's 10/10 tap your cheekbone or the soft part of your palm and let's say you did it for 30 seconds you would be at 8/10 depending on the height of your 10/10 so like 10.7/10 you are panicking too much! Just calm down it will be ok panic is caused by let's say something like a loved one is gone your sad and it's a really big change like we had to get rid of my cat it's causing the panic or feeling sick or your throat tickles a 5second rule will work aswell so count backwards from 5 like 5 4 3 2 1 and go somewhere or something and go back to the position you were in or think about your favourite thing or person like your at a stage show and your favourite actor is there think about it make sure no other thoughts take over the the thought you're thinking about right now thanks for reading bye!

    I remember first watching this like a year ago, and I felt nothing. I didn't really understand what anxiety was, and I didn't really understand how it could affect you so badly. But now I'm sitting here, I haven't gone out for like a month. I haven't done anything, I've turned down every single opportunity...hanging out with friends, having sleepovers, going to family gatherings. I find myself saying no to everything. I feel like I'm disappointing everyone, like I'm rude. But I want to, so badly, but I can't bring myself to say yes. I find it very hard to be spontaneous, and I need at least a few days before deciding anything. I risk my grades by not presenting my work in class. Everyone says "just do it and it'll be over" but it's not that easy, I wish it was. But I can't "just do".

    Hello Zoe,
    My name is Laura and I'm 17 and have had really, Really, REALLY bad anxiety for as long as I can remember. I've got dyslexia, acne and I'm not very healthy and am a little bit on the chubby side. I'm saying this as I've been bullied for as long as I can remember. Since I started year 2 or 3 when I moved to a country called Brunei, in the middle of South East Asia and is on the island of Borneo. This really took a toll on my life, self-esteem, self-respect and even how I look at the world. This has made me feel really down and I've been starting having panic over these past few years. Let's get back to the point of this message. I just wanted to thank you for, giving me and all the magical people who watch your videos, the strengt, joy and comfort to be ourselves and for helping, the people that do, get over our fear of flying. I hope your anxiety goes well and gets better, if it can? I also hope that you stay just the way you are and we all love you and good luck with everything!!!
    Lots of love,
    Laura xxx

    One of my best coping skills is when I start to get a panic attack, I think (or even say out loud) to my panicking brain, 'ok, thank you honey, but I'm completely safe. It's fine, calm down.' Also I know it's weird but if you talk to your anxiety kind of like it's a person, it is easier to manage. Like, 'Ok, but see, this situation isn't dangerous, just calm down.'

      Be your own biggest advocate then! Video chat with your online friends, while you go out a try something new. I lost all my friends from my agoraphobia, and panic disorder, but I just need to do it on my own. Which makes it 1000x worse, but 1000x more rewarding when you conquer it for yourself, by yourself.

    I’m about 2 1/2 minutes into the video and this is actually calming my anxiety. I’ve been dealing with anxiety for 8 years already. And you won’t beleave how rough it’s been for me. But you just have to remember to breath, talk about it / think about something that makes u happy and drink nice cold water. :)

    This video really speaks to me, Ive had anxiety for as long as i can remember. they just started getting very bad recently, I'm afraid to watch Anime anymore because that's how it triggered the first time. I feel like im caged and cant do the things I want, I just really want this to disappear. This video helped me a lot to see that Im not alone, that there are tons of people who go through this just like me. Thank you.

      The wrong thing to do after is panic because you've just had a panic attack. Don't do this, just walk away from it!

    everytime u get panic attack:
    1. mention 5 things you can see
    2. mention 4 things you can touch.
    3. mention 3 things you can hear
    4. mention 2 thinga you can smell
    5. mention 1 thing you feel.
    (i found this somewhere in tumblr.)
    and remember that you're not aline, you'll be fine. ☺

  • @disneyfan9134

    YOU’RE NOT ALONE!!!!! We’re all human and it’s perfectly okay to feel anxious sometimes. A very wise mall Santa that I met, back in 2018, once told me that “even on the cloudiest day the sun STILL shines behind those clouds meaning that no matter how dark it looks, the sun is STILL there and the joy and happiness is there for you as well”. No matter how scary or how uncomfortable things get, just know that everything’s going to be okay because u deserve to feel safe, loved, comforted, encouraged and for those who loved you and who really want to help u and be there for you and stay by your side whether from friends, family or anyone you trust and feel safe with.
    I maybe an autistic women whose probably may or may not have had a lot of panic attacks and just speaking from experience but I’ve had anxiety attacks due to my fear of failure in school, at work and being unemployed for not being good enough as a person so I do understand perfectly well the feelings the worthlessness, lack of self esteem, anxiety, depression, self hatred, loneliness, feeling trapped, frustration, remorsefulness, insecurity and the feeling of wanting to get try to better yourself but always coming out as a failure.
    The point is, your anxieties and depressions and everything mental health related DOES NOT define u for who you are, it’s what’s inside your heart and all the things that you’ve accomplished in life that truly defines u for who you truly are. Some people are not gonna always understand what you’re going through but as long as you have the people who loved you or that special someone whom deeply loves u and genuinely cares about u and will do anything in the world to help u to overcome this, you’re gonna come out even stronger and more courageous than ever and before you’ll know it, you’re gonna surprise people by how far you’ve come in the end.
    Stay strong, have courage, be kind to yourself, take heart and NEVER EVER give up hope because you ARE beautiful and perfect just the way you are in every way. Don’t EVER blame yourself. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    I suffer panic attacks when I am alone in my room at night and due to that I am not able of sleeping on my own anymore so that I always have to go to my parents' room and it's extremely embarassing because you just don't feel normal anymore and it is even worse when your parents don't understand. So thank you Zoe for this video, it helped me. x

    I use to watch this years ago when I was panicking and having an attack to realize I wasn’t alone. Here I am this morning finding myself searching it again. As I sit here I feel all the old feelings coming back. Worrying and overthinking the simplest of things. Thank you Zoe. More than you know. Far more
