You should check out Dr.Claire Weekes, she talks about that, about bringing “the old skeleton out of the closet and realizing it doesn’t quite scare you as much anymore”. Anxiety is a natural human emotion and there’s no way to completely rid yourself or your life of it. If anything I try to be grateful In those moments like “ah there you are old friend it’s been awhile!”

You telling us that our bodies cannot stay in this panicked state is SO helpful. When panic happens it's very hard to convince ourselves what it truly is, and that it will indeed end. It feels impossible to believe sometimes. But I thank you for including this in your talk-down. We definitely need to be reassured that these feelings WILL pass and we cannot stay in this state forever.

Im paying for you, remember this will pass, you are safe, you are ok and eventually you will feel ok again and be able to feel peace, calmness, and rest. Some of the things that help me get over the panic are rubing a wet towel in the back of my neck and my forehead, clench fists, feel and all the muscles of my boddy, the reyes an relax as much as possible, concentrate in my breathing, in extremo cases tape a hot shower, the water touching my boddy distracts my mind and even fool my mind that I am not having a panic attak and I smart to feel much better, drink some cold Orange Juice or water and remember the anxiety tightens the muscles arround your ribbs so you might feel shortness of breath but you are ok, you are breathing fine and as you start to relax it will pass and you will feel blessed, calm and happy eventually

@@yodelissosa7791 same. For some people, if you are having the kind of panic attack where you feel like you can’t breath or are having trouble, breathing exercises can make it worse because you are focusing on the thing that is causing you panic. You need to try to NOT over think the breathing haha. My therapist had me instead of breath work use other senses in that moment: get a hot bath, drink of water, nice smell, etc, and positive self talk. I think it depends on the person, but the deep breathing not helping during a panic is not uncommon! When you get to feeling better breath work can be great.

I tend to just distract myself when I become Anxious or when my Mental Health starts to act up (which is basical Every Day 🤦‍♀️😓). My number one is day dreaming. Making up stories in my head - mini movies. I also watch tv or something. Anything to distract me for a while until I can cool down.
Also, what has your therapist recommended for when it happens AWAY from Home?? Like no bath, no tea, etc.?? Basically while in Public?? Just curious.
I personally feel like the breathing exercises are a waste of time and I feel like an absolute idiot trying to do it (I guess I feel embarrassed 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️😓🤦‍♀️) Anyways, I think you're right. I'm too worried about the situation and thinking about the breathing exercises that I over think and end up pushing it away, I guess....?? Especially if I'm angry or upset. Like knowing Myself, When I'm upset, I'm NOT just gonna take a second and say: "Hey!! Breathing exercises..... Like when I'm too busy figuring out the situation or my current feelings...... Grrrr
I guess none of this even makes sense, so sorry. Just typing up as I go. Maybe it's because I'm just starting out or maybe it's just Not for me. Like I said before, it even Feels uncomfortable. Like it triggers my Asthma even More!! 😓😓........

Give it a go next time. Just keep that pressure down on your hands whilst breathing slow and deep.

I can't be on and don't want to be on a daily med like an SSRI so Ativan or Klonopin are fantastic. Just don't abuse them. They are addictive. So just as needed.

I can’t keep it together at night. Once I am alone with my thoughts I am overwhelmed by fear. My heart begins to pound in my chest and my body becomes frozen, not cold but frozen. I cannot sleep. If I could sleep I would have an escape from the fear but it feels impossible to rest. My thought are focused on my daughter. What would happen to her if I died. Who would care for her. There is no one. The constant sounds of sirens as they head in the direction of the ER with another helpless Covid patient induce my fears. As I type this, the sounds of sirens scream from the street below. They are so loud that shutting the windows do not help. I don’t know how to block it. Please forgive my long rambling, but the writing seems to calm me. Please stay safe and thank you for your video. It helped stop my crying. 🌸

It helps a lot, but it's usually when I look at the comments that I feel the panic greatly subside and I start bawling. It helps a lot to know I'm not alone in experiencing this kind of thing. The comments of a stranger on the internet might not mean a lot to everybody, but to my surprise, they mean quite a lot to me. Found this video again after 2.5 years and am smiling right now. If this helps anyone, I used to put this video on 2.5 years ago when I was having 10ish severe panic attacks a day, when I couldnt leave the house or even the bed.
I currently came looking for it, to download to my phone in case, as Im getting on a plane to go on holiday in 2 days and getting nervous.
    - This moment helped me look back and see how far i've come, even though 2 years ago I never thought I'd get remotely better. And it's funny how I used to listen to this to feel safe in my own bed, and now Im downloading it to feel safe on a plane !!!!
Things ALWAYS get better. It can take years, and baby steps and a lot of courage, but things always always get better.

What an incredible gift you've given all of us. I've had C-PTSD and bad anxiety since I was a kid. I'm 30 now, and it still gets me just like it did in the past, sometimes worse.
Most people don't understand the depths of my anxiety, and even if they do, I tend to isolate myself when I'm anxious as I don't know how to express it to or in front of others.
This is like the mother I wish I had. The comfort of this reassurance is like a warm hug. The way she acknowledges these feelings exist but that they aren't facts is so helpful. This is the first time I've found this but I've saved it for quick reference. Thank you for this❤

I have to extend my gratitude to everyone in the comments as well. I used to think I was ridiculous for feeling like I was dying- I have to stop myself from calling EMS, I try to panic call my family and loved ones to tell them I love them. I dont want to die and I get so desperate not to- even though that's not what's happening. Now I see that I'm not alone and it's quite a common symptom of panic attacks. It's true that the entire time I'm telling myself that I'm fine and I know rationally I'm fine- but sometimes it just takes some extra help.

Then the fire department always shows up even when I ask for medical it makes no sense. One time I asked to go to the hospital and they had to call for an ambulance.
