Anxiety is a natural human emotion and there’s no way to completely rid yourself or your life of it. You telling us that our bodies cannot stay in this panicked state is SO helpful. When panic happens it's very hard to convince ourselves what it truly is, and that it will indeed end. It feels impossible to believe sometimes. But I thank you for including this in your talk-down. We definitely need to be reassured that these feelings WILL pass and we cannot stay in this state forever.

@@yodelissosa7791 same. For some people, if you are having the kind of panic attack where you feel like you can’t breath or are having trouble, breathing exercises can make it worse because you are focusing on the thing that is causing you panic. You need to try to NOT over think the breathing haha. My therapist had me instead of breath work use other senses in that moment: get a hot bath, drink of water, nice smell, etc, and positive self talk. I think it depends on the person, but the deep breathing not helping during a panic is not uncommon! When you get to feeling better breath work can be great.

Little trick I've found works for me if I'm feeling a lightness in my body as though a bit faint or dizzy, if you sit or stand at a table and put both hands on the table top and push down on it, it instantly grounds you and you don't feel as emotionally or physically 'flighty'. Give it a go next time. Just keep that pressure down on your hands whilst breathing slow and deep.

It's extraordinary really.

@jenny-pw3lp I've been before and they always gave me Ativan. Super helpful, no side effects for me. I now have a prescription from my psychiatrist that I take as needed. I only use it maybe every other month or when flying since that's a big fear of mine. Having it on hand at home and knowing it's there if I need it, helps overall tremendously! I can't be on and don't want to be on a daily med like an SSRI so Ativan or Klonopin are fantastic. Just don't abuse them. They are addictive. So just as needed.

I can’t keep it together at night. Once I am alone with my thoughts I am overwhelmed by fear. My heart begins to pound in my chest and my body becomes frozen, not cold but frozen. I cannot sleep. If I could sleep I would have an escape from the fear but it feels impossible to rest. My thought are focused on my daughter. What would happen to her if I died. Who would care for her. There is no one. The constant sounds of sirens as they head in the direction of the ER with another helpless Covid patient induce my fears. As I type this, the sounds of sirens scream from the street below. They are so loud that shutting the windows do not help. I don’t know how to block it. It helps a lot, but it's usually when I look at the comments that I feel the panic greatly subside and I start bawling. It helps a lot to know I'm not alone in experiencing this kind of thing. The comments of a stranger on the internet might not mean a lot to everybody, but to my surprise, they mean quite a lot to me. I have to extend my gratitude to everyone in the comments as well. I used to think I was ridiculous for feeling like I was dying- I have to stop myself from calling EMS, I try to panic call my family and loved ones to tell them I love them. I dont want to die and I get so desperate not to- even though that's not what's happening. Now I see that I'm not alone and it's quite a common symptom of panic attacks. It's true that the entire time I'm telling myself that I'm fine and I know rationally I'm fine- but sometimes it just takes some extra help.

Omg - just had a massive attack. Rung 111. Got a 2 hour wait - so came here. Helped the attack but going to need help to overcome the general problem. So I have major sympathy for everyone out there. First one I’ve had for a while waking up. Obviously the current situation is a major contributor but this is not a new thing. When I spoke to the triage the questions I was given made things better - do you want to harm yourself or others? I am safe I am ok.

When they got off the bus they FaceTimed me right away to stay with me. My panic attack started by someone throwing up near me and I have Emtophobia (fear of throw up) and I started shaking and struggling to breathe so I got my friends help and told them I was having a panic attack and they stayed with me the whole time. What an incredible gift you've given all of us. I've had C-PTSD and bad anxiety since I was a kid. I'm 30 now, and it still gets me just like it did in the past, sometimes worse.
Most people don't understand the depths of my anxiety, and even if they do, I tend to isolate myself when I'm anxious as I don't know how to express it to or in front of others.
This is like the mother I wish I had. The comfort of this reassurance is like a warm hug. The way she acknowledges these feelings exist but that they aren't facts is so helpful. This is the first time I've found this but I've saved it for quick reference. Thank you for this❤

  • @5747589
    @5747589 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

BELOW IS WHAT REALLY HELPS ME WHEN IM GOING THROUGH IT: This may not be the case with everyone. But notice a pattern or an environment when you don’t get panic attacks, for instance me, I don’t ever get panic attacks when I’m at work. Work is a place I feel very productive at doing what I mainly enjoy and help others so maybe that’s why even though I have to face a lot of my fears at work it feels like I’m overcoming things one at a time when i push myself out of my comfort zone. So when I am having a panic attack usually at random when I’m at home, ready to go to bed or right after I eat dinner, I remind myself “what’s happening right now is just your brains defense mechanism, it’s all a false sense of intense fear, it’s not reality, thoughts are not reality, your mind is tricking you. Don’t get tricked. It can’t last longer than this period of time anyway so worst case I can always ride it out. I am strong. Look at the way I move my body (i usually lightly exercise or stretch. I put on a nature sound music. And breath while focusing on one object at a time and analyzing the object simply.) I leave all control to this higher being (whether you believe in God or not), I don’t need to have control all the time. Whatever happens is exactly what should be happening right now. I believe in that. (And then I also think about how when im at work even if im dehydrated, hungry, just eaten etc. I don’t feel this panic attack so it must really just be the trick of my mind, not cuz I have a brain tumor or something very extreme like that my mind likes to make me believe I have. I’m also a hypochondriac so ANY physical discomfort is immediately the worst illness in the world. Knowing I’m not alone helps my anxiety. If I see others that also went to ER multiple times each time thinking the worst and was sent home with all test results negative and a 1500 dollar bill (lol), well then my brain is starting to be convinced that I really am just fine. Share your experiences too guys this is a safe space. I love you all so much. Panic attacks helped me gain a better understanding and appreciation for the things i have in my life. At one point every moment I could have without feeling like crap was a moment I would do something I really liked. It made me take on playing flute again, it made me practice painting. Before panic attacks I was very unmotivated and procrastinated everything from generalized anxiety. So keeping this in mind really helped me reduce the intensity of my panic attacks that they are manageable with the above mentioned techniques. Summary: fake it till you make it. Tell your brain using your logic what to think bcuz what it wants to think is constructed by whoever raised you and they did not do it right but it’s ok! Bcuz I can be ok on my own, I can rewire my brain to feel better and make others feel better. “I’m peaceful, relaxed, calm, at ease.”

I've felt myself get more and more panicked and I've taken myself to bed to listen to this. It's so strange how a funny/strange sensation in your body can trigger your mind into making you feel more physical symptoms of feeling unwell and anxious. I felt instantly more relaxed within the first few minutes as the words are so reassuring and calming. They reminded me that I’m safe and what I was feeling will pass. It turned a horrible and scary situation into a one of calm and peace. The breathing and grounding techniques were brilliant. I can’t thank you enough for uploading this video and helping me easily get through a panic attack.

I have many panic attacks and I'm only so young, I feel like I'm older than what I really am and this is amazing help. Thank you for helping people!!

This video has really helped me in the past, I was driving and feeling all dizzy and anxious and played this in the whole journey home and I can’t thank you enough. I’m currently led in bed trying not to spiral into another panic attack, currently feeling pressure in my head/eyes, dizziness, tight chest.. can’t focus or read properly but I’m listening to this video whilst typing my comment. Reading through the comments has helped me a little. It really does suck we go through this and I wish you all the best with overcoming this awful situation we find ourselves in sometimes.

Even reading the subtitles of this video is enough. I found myself in a club feeling overwhelmed and heading to the smoking area and feeling desperate for something to calm me, well as it turns out, just having the chance to read the subtitles of this video was enough to bring me back round through my attack. I praise you. Thank you. ❤

You seriously saved me. I was having migraine with aura (blurred vision) and thought I was having a stroke because of it. Laid down and found this and drifted off to nap, woke up feeling much better. Thought I was going to pass out from the panic.

Idk if this is my place to say. But with my anxiety and panic I tend to wanna escape or run during it. What I’ve learned was to lay down, elevate your legs and then do deep breathing. I’ve had this disorder for years and it’s the only thing that has helped. The calming reassurance you’ve given in your video has helped tremendously. 🖤🖤🖤

I do the same thing Faith. I lay down & elevate my feet on my wedge pillow & do deep breathing (longer exhales) these 3 things help. The most recent panic attack during the night, the back of my throat was dry, so after drinking a cup of warm/hot tea, I then sip on water every now and then for the dry throat, & my legs were trembling and heart rate up over 100, but after listening to this talk down relaxation video, the trembling calmed down and then eventually stopped after a few minutes & my heart rate went down below 100 & eventually between 85-65 😉. I hope we all have brief panic attacks, where we all manage to calm our heart rates down and our minds at ease, whenever a panic attack pops up.

i just have really really really bad anxiety always for no reason. had it since i was born and it’s getting worse the older and older i get. i had a mild panic attack a few minutes ago and thought i was gonna die, hyperventilating and light headed, breathing too fast and scared, itching and grabbing my skin, banging my head, sweating, shaking, nausea. i have a giant fear of vomiting, and i’ve been nauseous a lot recently and have had such bad anxiety and lots of panic attacks. this calmed me down and made me tired. i also wrote in my journal while listening cause that usually helps distract me and relax me. thank you so much. your voice is amazing. much love

the adrenalin when having a bad attack makes the overwhelming sense of doom so much worse. makes it feel like you aren't sure if you are having a heart attack or can even breathe. videos like this help a LOT.

I (like many others) have been going through extreme anxiety over the past few months. The panic attacks were unbearable and medication made them 10x worse. Listening to your video has helped me through every single one. Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! You should make a video to help people with anxiety/racing mind get to sleep.
