It's a long and sad story I'm afraid, and a tragic one. It may sound conspiratorial, but it's true. The 60's saw a social revolution of the new generation, the likes of which had never been seen before, that seriously threatened the old power establishment, it's corruption and the continued glorification of war, with the onset of the Vietnam war. This new generation and it's muses sought a much more uplifted world, which was perfectly represented in it's music. The musicians were the real inspiration for that entire generation with all the new hopes and dreams. But those dreams were countered by an extremely ruthless and corrupt power elite that staged a counter revolution. It started with a series of coup d'etats in countries electing democratic leaders, a series of horrific assassinations, of the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Malcolm X, the Kennedies, MLK, Patrick Lamumba and many others. But it also included the infiltration of media, hollywood and music, in order to change the direction of our western culture and kill all inspiration and aspirations to ideals, talent, creativity and independent and investigative journalism. And the rest, as they say, is history.
It was actually written by the great Italian singer and composer Lucio Battisti not very well known in the UK but in Europe was a sensation during the 60s 70s.
@@overmarsdaria3222 Thanks for the info. I looked him up on Wikipedia - very interesting and a bit sad. Listened to some of his music and was impressed. Vocals and melody in harmony, oh how I recall those heady days.
I'm 80yrs and all the comments below I reflect on. Especially with my best friend, Peter Davies. We went all around UK 8 wheeler lorry hunting. Yes true.
