Just think, we could've pushed so much further. Instead we decided to collapse in on ourselves. We gave up going to Mars like 40 years ago. Probably for the best. I've heard the rivers caught on fire 20 years before that. Can't take people anywhere.
I know they have nothing to do with each other, but this song (which my older brother turned me on to when I was very young) always reminds me of The Time Machine with Rod Taylor, one of my favorite movies.
2020 the start of a BRAVE NEW WORLD. And 2021 isn't going to be any better, if the elitists, and the government's of the world get there way. This wasn't just a song it was a prophecy.
Yeah, You already know that but I'd guess that they took these years for stylistic purposes only and not because in 1969 they lacked the scope of how fast things would move during 10,000 years.
who's here because deep down they know the conspiracy theorists are right and they dont want to admit it on their Facebook so as to hurt their fake image !!!!
Building actual sets and models take a long time and money. But they tend to have a better look. Think the original dune costumes and inside sets, or original blade runner. Cgi has it's place like in outer space or dinosaurs. But a lot of stuff that could be done with real sets, just looks really fake with CGI it seems very lazy and cheap. Digital sensors can't complete with film quite yet. They remastered this film, look how good it stands up to video especially from they first changed over. Tv programs shot on video lets say in te 90s look horrible to say even Bonanza shot on film. Especially when remastered to modern video standards. I can only imagine how good the original film looks.
Dude 500 years is nothing. Humanity had been around much longer than that. We've found that modern humans may have existed longer than we even thought. Thousands and thousands of years. Modern humans have existed for at least 10,000 years... imagine what the ancient peoples thought of it being our time. They never imagined we'd be around in 2021. Some of them thought the world would have ended dozens of times by now.. Hell, even if we nuke each other, some small pockets of humanity will survive. Have more faith in your species. A lot of us are fucked up, but there's also so much potential for good in us.

You cannot say you believe one part, but not the other ridiculous things. I could go on and on and on about all the stupid made up shit in the bible. If I wrote down a bunch of stories, Put them in a book, and then said book was found buried in the ground 2000 years later.. Does that make everything in the book true? No? Of course not. Just because it was written by ancient humans, that doesn't make it real. You're trusting the accounts of people that didn't even know we live on a planet. People that didn't even know what makes rain happen. People that were superstitious about EVERYTHING. You're going to trust those people with your eternal soul? LOL. Lets try this. What about "When a woman has a discharge, if her discharge in her body is blood, she shall continue in her menstrual impurity for seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until evening. Everything also on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean, and everything on which she sits shall be unclean." Leviticus 15: 19-20 How about "Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves." Numbers 31:17-18 Ohhh how about this one eh? So you believe in owning slaves then? Because the bible says that, too. "You may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way." Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT Get your head out of your ass. It wont kill you to admit you're wrong.
I am 63yrs old and I remember listening to this song as a child. I just simply loved this song...It had something in it...It was the truth about our future...Is it not so today and its 2021...
This was a masterful pairing of two dystopian classics. The scary thing is that as I was growing up, they were just Sci-Fi visions of a possible future that would never arrive. Now, near the end of my own life, I can see those days arriving.
@@InTheYear you choose the name of the song for your name on TH-cam. Well you are a lucky person, because God chooses you to enter the kingdom of heaven. And yes is the year 2020 welcome to the kingdom of heaven.
I was one when this was released I’m now approaching my 55 birthday an I’ve seen the world change in my short time an in my opinion I certainly wouldn’t want to be around in 2525 . God help us all ! Greetings Portsmouth England 🏴
I don't think humans will be around then. At least not in the way they are now. We are slowly but surely trashing this planet. Soon we'll be on the way to extinction. And why? All because of money 💰. It's all about the bottom line. That sums us up. What a bunch of idiots 🙄
I remember when this first aired in '69. Lots of changes in society and the world and it scares me! I feel so sorry for the younger generation. Blessings from an old guy in America.
Yes, take the scene of the robot's transformation in to a fake Maria and compare it to Darth Vader's final emergence in Revenge of the Sith and you'll see that science fiction hasn't changed all that much.
Being 72 years old, I have seen a lot. That being said, I'm not sure we will make it to 2525 much less 10,000 years. I have always enjoyed this song, even though it is a little dark.
I can't believe people even worry about things like 10000 years from now. People are just another critter in a long parade of critters to go extinct. No biggie.
I remember a time when we all assumed nuclear war was a given, not an if but a when. When they drop the bomb it will all be over. People don't realize how the Cold War was a key change in history. It was the first time that apart from religious beliefs, the End Of the World was a real possibility. We could really do it and we still can and now we'll always be able to. But we got through. Maybe it's always going to be like that, and people will find a way to muddle through one day at a time.
The song has more meaning today. But we are not going to make it. We are well into the Sixth Mass Extinction Event. We are also experiencing a Civilisation Systems Collapse. I'm in the same age bracket.
@@robertfletcher3421 chill my guy. Nobody knows the future. We maybe alive for only 20 years or 10,000 years. We maybe living in an extinction event or we may not. People have predicted the end of humanity for centuries and yet nothing has happened. For example, people predicted the end by nuclear war and yet, we made it through. Don’t believe everything the media or politicians say about the future because they sometimes tend to over exaggerate things. Look, what I’m trying to say is that even if the end is near or not, we should enjoy everyday of our lives like it is the last, because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow.

It was already clear for them where it's going to... Now most of us think we would not even survive another 100 years... Hopefully we can still go a U-Turn
Don't let fear ever enter your consciousness. What you focus on you will manifest. Focus on love. So many people are awake now to the Truth that it won't be long before humanity is going to set things right. Believe it, we're in good hands!!

Hey fellow old folks, same here - turning 64 this year (in the year 2021). Seems like this is turning out to be a remarkably prescient song, wouldn't you say? If they came up with an eternal life option I would politely decline at this point.

This song scared the shit out of me when I was 10 years old, and it still scares the shit out of me to this day. It instills a sense of dread in me that sits deep in the pit of my stomach, a feeling I've always felt but this song just puts the words to those feelings. It's absolutely beautiful, but so terrifying that I rarely come back to listen to it.
Part of the effect this song has on me is thinking about those who will come after and knowing I'll be dust (in the wind) when they finally tread this same planet under the same sun and moon. They'll think of us the way we think of the people who were here hundreds and thousands of years ago. The people who saw the melt of the last ice age... Doesn't every living person have a small measure of arrogance over the dead because of their frailty in dying?
I watched Metropolis, once. Now I've seen some of the more prescient, disturbing imagery again. Always liked this song, now it's married to the perfect imagery.

I am from Colombia and I am 66 years old. In 1975 I heard the song Año 2525 performed by the Frank Pourcel Orchestra, an instrumental version that gave it a futuristic touch and left me in awe. I never imagined that this song was a composition by Zager & Evans, in fact I didn't even know they existed. 40 years later, while exploring the band Ten Years After, I found this version of the song and it impressed me even more because of its prophetic lyrics. Beautiful composition.
@@williampatrick2971 and what's so disturbing about it? It's a new way to procreate, way less risky and way more efficient than live birth. Give it about 30-40 years, and humanity will have divorced its organic components and switched to artificial synthetic bodies. That is if advanced AI wouldn't have already replaced us as a species by then. Only good things can come from that, the way we are living right now is a literal nightmare.

And i agree with you, though every century, has had this malaise. They worry about the here and now, and the coming future from what they can observe in their 70 year lifespan being a human pretty much means its all about me,if you ever meet a futurist you will meet a person of no more worth than an astrologer or an american tv evangelist ,so remember that warning, but i predict that 200 years from now people will still be worried about the planets future, their world will be very different from ours a lot of plants and animals will be extinct, but that will not worry them because they never experienced them, they will be worried about new exotic problems that you and i can not even imagine. But they will still be worried about the defence budget and their childrens future and that is one fact about the future l can promise you will be true. Oh well only a billion more years to go.☺ bye!

Yup and Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’ from 1932 was a deep forecast of things to come. His brother Julian Huxley coined the term transhumanism. Their grandfather was a close friend of Charles Darwin.
This prophetic song ends with... "In the year 2525, if man is still alive If woman can survive, they may find" The word "man" is used as a reference to mankind, not men.. And now today, no one can define what a "woman" is. Woman are being erased. How did these song writers get this so accurate? Kevin
Mesmerising. Haunting. Disturbing. The repeating verse, combined with the luminously prescient images from Metropolis, give a perfect dizzying mishmash of future and past. Amazingly well done.
The most dreadfull thing for me is how far away these millenias from us, from me. No matter what will happen in the year 2525 - we won't see it. Not a single one of us. Our lifespan is just a tiny fraction of millenia, and when the singer just strides trough the time it reminds me about our mortality and the fact that the death is pretty close already, and my life is nothing on the scale of human civilisation. I can't even describe that feeling of being incredibly small and helpless in the face of time.
sorry kids of today.....this is musik. A timeless masterpiece for a bygone epoch with rebellion, imagination and fantasy.Nothing can bring back memories better, than a song which he was once connected with.
Metropolis - A masterpiece. Fritz Lang was a pure genius. I can watch this film over and over and not get bored. I remember when this song came out, in 1969. Played on every radio station.
The term test tube baby has been in use since 1930's which is also the time that animals were conceived in lab for the first time in that manner and later first humans in 1970's so it is no surprise that they predicted human test tube babies in 1969 as animals were already made and many experts are working on human test tube baby in that time.
Zager lived to too far from me and showed up at a local park one warm summer night when there was going to be a "Rumble". We were Jr. High School age. I remember he had a big Bowie-type knife. A very nice man by the name of Dudley Osborn showed up and talked everyone down. Invited us to his house to learn hand-to-hand combat and work out. Turns out he was an expert who was teaching the police department. He had the largest forearms (in a book) of anyone in America at 21" and could do pushups on his fingertips with his arms extended straight out in front of him...with his 3 kids (150lbs) on his back. He was around 280 lbs if I remember correctly.
I've read so many comments. So many people are connecting to this video. Let's recognize the brilliance of the three creators. 1. Metropolis by Fritz Lang 1921 2. In the year 2525 by Rick Evans 1969 3. Sanjin putting the two together in 2015. Those three people were never alive at the same time, yet results in this powerful message. The span of those three people are 102 years. This alignment of clips from the original film with the song performance brings me to tears. Remarkable editing. I sincerely believe this could be the most relevant youtube video ever created. A statement about we need to think about humanity is going. Kevin
Thank you! I'm touched by the fact the so many feel something for or about it. The message of the film and the song blended and synergized the warning indeed. Just a year correction, Metropolis is from 1927 =) /All the Best
Yours is an interesting comment but, to be a stickler, it is not accurate. Fritz Lang died in 1976, eight years this song was released by Zager and Evans. And Rick Evans died in 2018, so his life and that of Sanjin clearly overlapped.
I remember hearing this song on my 16th birthday. I was sat up in bed, having had a lie in, a little birthday treat for myself when "In the Year 2525" came on the radio. So apt was the fact that at very moment, I was reading the science fiction story, "The Machine Stops"!
Years ago I was at the grocery store and my bill came to $25.25 me and the cashier both broke out in In the year 2525 spontaneously. It was just one of those moments that make life interesting.
I used to wait the whole day listening to the radio for this song to come up. It gave me goosebumps and floated me in the air. The video is one of the best seen in YT.

The 1927 movie Metropolis had special video effects that were way ahead of it's time. Excellent use of scenes from the movie along with the music!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Building actual sets and models take a long time and money.

The idea of humanity making it to 2525 is the most optimistic thing I’ve heard in a long while.
As that's just over 500 years away, i'll tke that bet!
@@I_am_a_cat_ The Bible says the world is about 6,000 years old and I believe what he Bible says.
@@1223jamez You're not very smart then, are you?
You know the bible says some other ridiculous stuff too? Like.. "Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material" yet I guarantee that you're doing just that right now.
Like come on dude.
Here's some ridiculous stuff you like to ignore.
What about "When a woman has a discharge, if her discharge in her body is blood, she shall continue in her menstrual impurity for seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until evening. Everything also on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean, and everything on which she sits shall be unclean." Leviticus 15: 19-20
How about "Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, spare for yourselves." Numbers 31:17-18
Ohhh how about this one eh? So you believe in owning slaves then? Because the bible says that, too. "You may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way." Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT
Get your head out of your ass. It wont kill you to admit you're wrong.

Agree sound very dark
Don’t believe everything the media or politicians say about the future because they sometimes tend to over exaggerate things. Look, what I’m trying to say is that even if the end is near or not, we should enjoy everyday of our lives like it is the last, because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow.

"Now it's been 10,000 years, man has cried a billion tears...now man's reign is through, but through eternal night, the twinkling of starlight..." Pure stunning poetry. And I love the way they start the song again from the beginning, as if it's a terrible cycle of life which will go on and on forever.
It won’t though !!

Merci 🙏🏻 Glad you liked it.
Metropolis (1920s) is one of the best science fiction films, after 100 years the foresight of a genius like Fritz Lang is clear.
*¡1927!* - 7:22 pm Pacific Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, 4 September 2022
Brigitte Helm, the actress playing the Robot/Maria in Metropolis survived until 1996. She was 90. She was 20 yrs old when she made the movie.
She did her contracted 10 years in the film industry then married and settled down in Switzerland. Not many get out of the industry before it's too late.
"My whole film career is a matter of indifference to me. I would much rather be a housewife: to cook, bring up children and look after my husband."
- Brigitte Helm
She was astonishingly beautiful. What more needs to be said.
Damn
These lyrics are really creepy and some of them have already happened or happening
Hence "In The Year 2025"
Right how did the singer know boggles my mind
@@blondielynn337 predictively programs
Yup and Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’ from 1932 was a deep forecast of things to come. His brother Julian Huxley coined the term transhumanism. Their grandfather was a close friend of Charles Darwin.
@@blondielynn337 there here to teach us love did you see the spaceship?
The juxtaposition of scenes to this song give it a way deeper meaning. Astounding thought went in to this, it's brilliant.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Not only a classic tune, but THIS video is incredible. Now THAT is talent.
🙏🏻 Thank you!
This video was made in the 1930s silent movie.and yes it is great !
Its crazy how many people come back to this everyday... this song is masterpiece!!
"Metropolis" is a perfect choice as video for this song.
Anyone else here in 2024 thinking Zager and Evan’s were actually giving us a prophetic warning?
No shit Sherlock
In 1969, this song was a prophesy. Now, it is a dire warning!
you will not live to see the year 7510
This prophetic song ends with...
"In the year 2525, if man is still alive
If woman can survive, they may find"
The word "man" is used as a reference to mankind, not men..
And now today, no one can define what a "woman" is. Woman are being erased.
How did these song writers get this so accurate?
Kevin
@@TheWieger01 damn I sure hope not
The lyrics are just as relevant today as they were when they were written!!!
yeah... That's kinda the point
More so now than then

As in UN Created.
They promised us flying cars
So Ominous and PROPHETIC like the Oracle of Delphi
Mesmerising. Haunting. Disturbing. The repeating verse, combined with the luminously prescient images from Metropolis, give a perfect dizzying mishmash of future and past. Amazingly well done.
It was great to listen to when it came out. I was 12. Now it's scary.
Past, present, future in retrograde, years and days to reflect for some retrospect...
It gives me the chills. I am very afraid of CBDS's an the future of our individual rights.
So, what are you going to do about it?
The fact it's nearly six and a half decades old...
This will remain timeless.
sorry kids of today.....this is musik. A timeless masterpiece for a bygone epoch with rebellion, imagination
and fantasy.Nothing can bring back memories better, than a song which he
was once connected with.
Ok, Boomer.
Metropolis - A masterpiece. Fritz Lang was a pure genius. I can watch this film over and over and not get bored. I remember when this song came out, in 1969. Played on every radio station.
what was the name of the film?
I was thinking the same thing I am going to watch it tonight. Love that film as stated one of the greats.
~100 Years later the world is going back to what Fritz criticed....
@@bocastyle The Metropolis 1927
Fritz Lang, Orwell, Huxley. And todays public education paints them as nuts.
The test tube baby is the one that’s shockingly accurate since the first one wasn’t developed til 1978
Well, sci-fi writers were writing about that way, way back. Jules Verne for one.
The term test tube baby has been in use since 1930's which is also the time that animals were conceived in lab for the first time in that manner and later first humans in 1970's so it is no surprise that they predicted human test tube babies in 1969 as animals were already made and many experts are working on human test tube baby in that time.
I'm a test tube baby...
NTROPI whoa look who’s mr fancy pants. Sticking it to us Tupperware babies. Nobody likes a show off
Some say the things we have were planned many decades ago and wait for technology to be miniaturized or are dripped out to keep the money flowing
1. Metropolis by Fritz Lang 1921
2. In the year 2525 by Rick Evans 1969
Amen brother couldn't have said it any better! BRAVO!
Mankind is going down. Rick Evans must have had a visionary mind to write this
unique song. No other song can express what is going on today.
@@markuspapierowski8126except for bohemian rhapsody. I can’t get that song out of my head 😢
Scarry how we already have most of the stuff said in the song.
