Quite frankly, I've shot Fuji privately and for work (stills) since the original X100/X-Pro1. I'm still amazed they can sometimes occasionally face detect. What the T3/T4 bodies do is just amazing comparing where they came from a few years back As for exposure, I'm sure everyone knows, every camera brand has a slightly different approach/philosophy and it's more about knowing the exposure tendencies of a brand than anything else. Pretty much summed it up at 2:53. If you need great auto focus, go Sony. If your just staying in one place and don't care about auto focus, go Fuji. If you go Fuji, then don't cry about the auto focus as we all know it is not up to Sony, or Canon. Bottom line.
Fuji definitely wins on skin tones. On the sky, clouds, and trees, it does hype their colors while Sony render them more true to life which I like. But I am a Pany boy. I won't be getting rid of my Gh5 & g85 no time soon. Good review.
Here’s a shock... my sigma 18-35 adapted lens on the Xt4 auto focuses WAY better than the A6600. I don’t have much time I can hear the Sony van pulling up oh god oh n-
Honestly the big thing here is the white balance on the Sony just seems a bit warmer with higher contrast where the fudgey just seems more of like a neutral LOG profile. You could EASILY make the two identical in post with light grading imo. Also my XT-4 just came in the mail today!
Surprisingly the IQ looked MUCH better than the Sony. Though it's comparing graded footage from two different LOG profiles so who knows. Fuji looks fantastic though.
Seems like the Sony is better for everything except colours, auto exposure (maybe) and IBIS. The search for the perfect camera continues! Your channel doesn't have to die yet!
Looks like both systems have their strengths and weaknesses. Sony colors still need more work to look good. Sony autofocus is just in another league. If Fuji could really improve their auto focus It would make the choice very difficult. The terrible Fuji auto focus just ruins an otherwise good video. I don’t have much faith in Fuji fixing this issue since it has been plaguing them for years now.
Part of it might also be the relatively early firmware chugging its way through that third party lens, after they reverse engineered Fuji's protocols. I know that Fuji's AF isn't quite as good as Sony's, but I feel like the differences are overstated.
i dont know why the hell people praise the DR of the sony so much. it alwas crushes the shadows as soon as you are in the shades. also the fuji colors of your skin looks WAY better on the fuji. IS is also trash on the sony in compare.
I swear my 1998 Sony Hi8 camcorder has this same orange tint. Sony are clearly Martian superior beings, preparing us all to serve them on Mars and tolerate the lighting there.
Even my XT3 beats the R5, I abandoned Canon because they are slow to improve intentionally make their lower tier cameras bad just to upsell their other cameras
Honestly , I know I’m a moron but the Sony looks better at pretty much everything . Even when you were saying - I’m orange ! You just looked like a person would look on a hot arse day .. (was it hot at the park?) also , every time you ask which ones the Sony - you can just tell because it looks awesome !! I’m watching you on a 4K 55” Samsung telly thou ? Don’t know if that means anything but the Sony is king !! There’s nothing close to that camera ! Gerald Undones buying 2 of them and he knows his shit but even without Geralds opinion - it really does look glorious !! The reptilian overlords have won Casey ! Your channels over - please don’t leave us !! PS . Will you ever release an album !! I like your music !!
Sony has some major advantages, but the body price is just the start of that journey. XT4 is an awesome camera, that’s easy to shoot with and for the price of an a7s3 body alone, you can build an entire kit with the Fuji. Plus, the XT4 still has some amazing video capabilities, so if you’re matching up as a B-Cam with larger cinema systems you’re still good to go.
DeusExAstra it might be, for my commercial needs I’m usually only rolling for little controlled bits at time. Manual focus is still totally viable, especially outside or in controlled conditions, and while it’s face tracking isn’t great, it’s good enough for most cases from a gimbal or fixed position. Now, is it a great blogging cam where you have to track for long periods of time, or do a lot of close in selfie shooting? Not really. But is it a good content cam, yeah, it’s pretty great :)
Fujifilm are updating their whole lens line up so I think they might just be gunning for the top dog position. Sigma, Tamron & Tokina are also starting to make glass for Fujifilm. I'd be watching them very carefully over the next few years.
Casey, give this a shot: Use Eterna DR400 on the Fuji (or F-Log) and don't use Zebras. I've used Eterna DR400 a lot on my XT30 and with zebras it shows clipping before it actually happens, I use the histogram instead and make sure to keep everything 1 pixel away from the right wall on it. You'll see really good DR that way.
Despite all the naysayers bitching and whining (usually Canon, Fujifilm, and Nikon fans) about Sony cameras the A7siii looks like it's killing it to me. Great quality footage, insane low level light ability, better looking colours (I'm sure I just made some people's heads explode), and that tracking! There's a reason SONY has outsold all other camera brands barring Canon (though outsells Canon in mirrorless) despite only having started making cameras 10 years ago when they bought Konica Minolta's camera business. *I'm a Fujifilm user before anyone comes at me with Sony fanboy accusations. Im just honest about calling it as I see it.
Sorry to break the bad news, but the A7Siii is not the #1 camera and the IBIS is too jittery. Sony needs to change there lens mount otherwise it won't compete with Canon or Olympus.
@@Davitor1 Olympus?..... seriously? The company whose camera business went out of business?..... oookkkaaayyy.....I'm sure SONY is having sleepless nights about Olympus...🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 And I never said the a7siii was the "#1" camera. But thanks for proving my point I made about the other camera brand fans crawling out of the woodwork to do their best to throw shade.
@@david.stachon exactly mate. I'm a Fujifilm shooter and I like Fujifilm very much. But I'm not a fanboy/partisan hack that cannot acknowledge when another brand does something good. And SONY has made a very good looking camera here. Not least of all based on the myriad of glowing reviews you can find on TH-cam by people that are not just shills.
@Gap very true. SONY is a significantly larger company with faaaaar deeper pockets than Canon, Nikon, and Fujifilm combined. SONY is currently the 58th largest company in the world. You would have to go into the 500s and 600s of the Forbes global fortune 500 list to find Canon or Fujifilm.
I don't think I've laughed at hard at a youtube video as I did when you were saying the X-T4 was all you needed to film a talking head indoors and turned to point and the XT4 immediately lost focus. Pure gold. Love the video! Both are pretty awesome cameras. But lol the fuji af has a sense of humor.
for some reason your first A7SIII video seemed better stable and exposure when back lite from the sun. The Sony colors are more warmer and rich. More pleasing to look at.
Yeah Sony is low priced lol, you can buy two Fuji's XT-4 and on both put decent lens off the price of Sony body. For the change you can start looking the gadgets.
F-Log and color grade in post and I bet that Fuji can Match or exceed the a7III quality which is saying a lot since the a7III is pretty much a dedicated video camera and double the price , also the DR400 setting video rocks for taking care of those blown out highlights, also the 16mm 1.4 would be the lens to pair for this use
The skin tones on the Fuji are so natural on you in the beginning of the video, very pleasing where as the Sony has this unnatural look. Then again it might be the LUT you put on the Sony?
Great videos Kasey, always refreshing and fun! Looking for a Camera bag and I can't find the one you use in your amazon recommended products. Any ideas? Maybe a good idea for a new video? Kudos to your channels!
Awesome video. Great humor:D I’ve been waiting for the Sony forever like everyone else but actually almost bought the Fuji. Crazy to see that the Fuji won the stability test. It looked more natural to me and pleasing to watch. Thanks for the video! How was editing the files? You mentioned the Fuji was terrible on the computer?
I love both Sony and Fuji I have the X-T4 and the a7iii. I will more often than not pick up the Fuji for photos which I mostly shoot. For video the Sony wins hands down in my eyes but the Fuji is still an amazing camera. Will I plunk down over 3k for the Sony?....Um no. Cheers thanks for the great video.
I preferred the color out of the Xt4, but it can't beat the stab and autofocus of the Sony. Or the low light performance. Or the dynamic range. Or, or, or, etc etc etc.
From where I’m sitting, the Sony image is in a whole different league. The awesome autofocus itself is worth paying double for. $3,500 is a real bargain for a camera that will last for years.(And I’m a Fuji shooter).
The XT4 seems to be doing surprisingly well all things considered. A7SIII has better performance, no discussion, but the xt4 is cheaper, smaller lenses are nice, and Eterna is life.
@@jaegerschtulmann I have a few f2 ones and they are good enough for youtube-grade, talking head-ish videos. 16mmf2.8, 23mm f2 and 18-55 w/ linear motor. Not as good as Sony, but reasonably good enough for me at the moment.
last video i thought a7siii had better stabilization than the x-t4, but now that i see them side-by-side its so obvious the fuji is better. dynamic range is obviously better on fuji too. much flatter result in the examples in this video, which i'd absolutely prefer when it's time to grade. although i'd prefer the fuji personally, the a7siii wins in the auto focus department no doubt.
@Foto4Max i guess i meant specifically the dynamic range priority. never blowing out the sky looks more appealing to me, but then again, that would be my pick. just an opinion, you're entitled to yours.
XT4 can also shoot 26mp photos that are really nice so it’s a better hybrid camera. Maybe a7iv will have 10bit video and like a 30mp full frame which would be a killer. Their hot shoe audio receivers and other accessories are also really nice since there are no wires.
For me, if i need a hybrid camera, ill go with the xt4 for that high quality photos and video. But if ill be needing just a video camera, then ill definitely go with the sony.
Cool B-roll at the end, that squirrel has some skills there xD Impressed by the XT-4 overall performance, but specially the dynamic range. For the price, it's a no-brainer.
HOLY CRAP. First time I guessed wrong camera with indoor shot... A7iii looks nicer indoor shot... i can't believe it. I think I like the color of the Sony. Where am I????? Skin looks frickin purple on Fuji!?!?!
maybe I like orange/yellow skin bro LOL nah, but seriously, I'm thinking of cinema style grade, and that looks nothing like real life, ever. So, I'm not looking for realistic, just subjective preference.
Sony had a crap ibis for the price.... but that’s happened with all cameras to not have all the best things in one body. You must still looking for the perfect camera. Wait for GH6 ;|

I love your feed... I'm such a goober most often. I'm just trying to navigate my way through my Cannon EOS SLR2 and an iPhone 8Plus. I get it, just do it. Yet, I so appreciate your take on things. Someday I'll grab that higher bar!
Fuji colors look better out-of-camera but you can adjust color in Sony cameras to match Fuji or Canon or whatever. It just takes a bit of work to change the settings (once), then you are good to go. By doing it ahead of time in-camera, this means you don't have to fiddle with the colors in post-production.
Old Sony user here, you had me at the price. I'll be transferring to Fuji. The differences are sooo minuscule that I'd rather make up the difference in the price points with accessories and lenses for the Fuji. Sony might have a slight edge on a couple features (auto-focus primarily) but it's not worth 2 Fuji's. People may argue the DR about how it comes down to grading but however Casey chose to grade/use the footage in this video, Fuji was more pleasing. I feel like I could have clipped the highlights in post to match Sony's blown out look (which probably could have also been graded down to recover highlights). But again, not worth 2 Fujis. I want to see a full lens line up for the Fuji camera (now with all the firmware updates) to see what's the perfect video lens.

Surprisingly the IQ looked MUCH better than the Sony. Though it's comparing graded footage from two different LOG profiles so who knows. Fuji looks fantastic though.

I think Sony has a noticeable higher definition, am I wrong?
Cinema are made on manual focus, so autofocus is not important on video
more ppl are noticing that yellow tint, i thought i was the only one from the last couple of sony videos
i dont know why the hell people praise the DR of the sony so much. it alwas crushes the shadows as soon as you are in the shades.
also the fuji colors of your skin looks WAY better on the fuji. IS is also trash on the sony in compare.
I swear my 1998 Sony Hi8 camcorder has this same orange tint. Sony are clearly Martian superior beings, preparing us all to serve them on Mars and tolerate the lighting there.
The song at the end was dope.
I’m on a mission to watch all of your videos
The Sony slo-mo detail is epic.
Even my XT3 beats the R5, I abandoned Canon because they are slow to improve intentionally make their lower tier cameras bad just to upsell their other cameras
Sony kicked ass as should be expected but for the price difference, I would expect even more. I’ll stick with my Fuji xh1. Congrats on the Fuji deal !
Tbh the Sony if you were doing any kind of professional work would annihilate the Fuji, but if you're just doing vlogging then you got a good deal
@@adrianbaev5277for video yes but not for photos. Lol
@@dagr8ape oh yeah 100% I use a Sony a7iii myself so that I get the mix between the two (also it's not so expensive haha)

Honestly , I know I’m a moron but the Sony looks better at pretty much everything . Even when you were saying - I’m orange ! You just looked like a person would look on a hot arse day .. (was it hot at the park?)
also , every time you ask which ones the Sony - you can just tell because it looks awesome !! I’m watching you on a 4K 55” Samsung telly thou ? Don’t know if that means anything but the Sony is king !! There’s nothing close to that camera !

Not on the IBIS, the Sony is definitely too shaky.
yeah, the vlog under super bright sunlight, how can a people has paleskin like Fuji, but fuji only cost 1700euro for the body XD
Album is here :) vegetablepolice.bandcamp.com/ Yes Sony wins pretty much everywhere lol. Just white balance gets a bit warm at times.
@@cameraconspiracies Fuji's greens look better. The Fuji looks like summer.
Auto-focus is still going to be a problem with the XT4. Of course if you're not moving around much, maybe not.
Gotta say that skin tones looks amazing on fuji
3:33 " I think the Sony might be a little overkill for your TH-cam scrub life" 🤣 subbed 👍🏽
Dont Know Casey, To me sony colors look way better, not sure if they more accurate, but i love the skin tones on sony by far
The skin looks nice because of the dynamic range. The colors are still way off though, way too orange.
Hes shooting in log on both, at least on the beginning. Log is flat looking for colors so you can edit later. Its an unedited raw file but for video.
Skin tones so orange on the Sony
It's the white balance that I think Sony struggles with. Always a little warm, where Fuji nails it.
Fujifilm are updating their whole lens line up so I think they might just be gunning for the top dog position. Sigma, Tamron & Tokina are also starting to make glass for Fujifilm. I'd be watching them very carefully over the next few years.
3:00 funniest thing on the internet. Thank you for not removing this part.
Sony's skin tones are a tribute to Donald Trump.
@ant billionz Pros appreciate fast workflow.
The orange is a dead giveaway, can tell the sony apart right away vs any other manufacturer.
I think he had the white balance set too warmly or on auto or something which chose a warm color temperature. Otherwise Sony colors look great.
the Fuji have an excess of magenta, how's that any better
@SwitchRich No its case buying camera with good color science.
Fuji is like organic in and out breathing of ... focus. Gives you that random lively effect of defocus. So exciting!
this is such a different and hilarious type or style of testing haha
Zeiss colors always win... so rich, I can always tell. Plus that’s a super sharp lens... wish it was stabilized.
Absolutely massive fan of A7SIII series :) 'toneh 2.0' - the best for vlogging :)
But the IBIS is too jittery.
You had by far the best looking toneh in Matt Granger's video. Even better than Chelseh. Well done.
Called it! Loving the Fuji color. As always 😍
I have been more excited to hear your new music than about any of the new cameras.
@@Davitor1 Olympus?..... seriously? The company whose camera business went out of business?..... oookkkaaayyy.....I'm sure SONY is having sleepless nights about Olympus...🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
And I never said the a7siii was the "#1" camera. Please point out where I said or even insinuated such. I merely said it's looking pretty damn good. But thanks for proving my point I made about the other camera brand fans crawling out of the woodwork to do their best to throw shade.
Yeah, I'm a fuji xt3 shooter, and if I had $7,000 to drop on this Sony (and lenses) I would. It's really quite brilliant.
Hahah! Dude! Funnest camera review I've seen, and just as informative or maybe MORE informative! Of course, unbiased too.
Well the kit lens is trash.

Grab that Sony and run. Then you can start focusing in finding the perfect gadgets for it.
You don't need to start focusing in finding the perfect gadgets, Sony has great autofocus /s
The IBIS is too jittery, definitely not the perfect camera.
I sent Sony the Samsung NX1, hoping they don't notice.
Camera Conspiracies you’re funny 😆. You always make me to laugh 😂 and I appreciate that. Don’t ever stop. 👍🏼
Yeah Sony is low priced lol, you can buy two Fuji's XT-4 and on both put decent lens off the price of Sony body. For the change you can start looking the gadgets.
I could watch you all day! Great video!
the sony skintones are like from a 90's video camera. and that stabilization is probably the same from the canon 5d mark ii.
The fujifilm footage looks nicer and more cinematic. I don't like the yellowish tint in the Sony.

Unfortunately the OSS lens seems worse for stabilising on the Sony. His first vlog seemed to be much better
The Fooj did well and had better skin tones
I love both Sony and Fuji I have the X-T4 and the a7iii. I will more often than not pick up the Fuji for photos which I mostly shoot. For video the Sony wins hands down in my eyes but the Fuji is still an amazing camera. Will I plunk down over 3k for the Sony?....Um no. Cheers thanks for the great video.
I preferred the color out of the Xt4, but it can't beat the stab and autofocus of the Sony. Or the low light performance. Or the dynamic range. Or, or, or, etc etc etc.
Stab on fuji is far better ¿did you see this video? And Sony's price is twice
that track at the end though... way cool.

I wouldn’t go by the Zebra all the time. To my eye, the Fuji had better colors in the sky and the clouds looked better, white and fluffier like
Thats grading man. The sony could pull more blues easily
That Sony image with the Fuju Eterna does look amazing.
From where I’m sitting, the Sony image is in a whole different league. The awesome autofocus itself is worth paying double for. $3,500 is a real bargain for a camera that will last for years.(And I’m a Fuji shooter).
Just buy blackmagic 6k and xt4 same price

Dude, you’re hilarious. Was looking at buying a xt-4 really enjoyed your videos! 🤣
But if ill be needing just a video camera, then ill definitely go with the sony.
or you can wait for A5 or A7iv
Cool B-roll at the end, that squirrel has some skills there xD
Impressed by the XT-4 overall performance, but specially the dynamic range. For the price, it's a no-brainer.

The AF losing you is hilarious. Ive never had that much trouble with my XT3. Granted, I also dont do talking head stuff. I was dying!
I hope you are feeling better. Love to you and your family.
The Sony audio sounded better than the Fuji. The difference was very noticeable when you cut to the next scene.
yeah the fuji sounds like it's clipping a bit? maybe just user error
