    here are the reason i want to pick the XT4 over the A7III even tho it was my first choice
    One of the most important aspect for me at least is the feel of the camera, other than the "vintage look" when i went to my store to see how both felt i litterally fell in love with the XT4 handling/ergonomics (call it the way you want) it is obviously totally subjective so gotta get your hands on both before you decide to go for one or the other
    Then as you explained in this video the A7III is litterally the king of auto focus at this price point and there is a wider variety of lens which can be a good or a bad thing really quickly
    for example being obsessed with the latest tech or the latest lenses or whatever, with a reduced choice if you pick the right lenses for the job you cannot over think it
    For my lens selection i'll start with the 23 and the 35mm f/2 (for both) maybe the 16-80 (24-120) f4 that could be a good all in one lense.
    And if i ever need a wider lens than that then i'll see
    i'll also be using my 750D, wich will allow me to use my 35mm for portrait while i use an other lense on the 750D like my old 70-200 f4 or maybe a new lense who knows
    i want to reduce what i carry as much as possible and IF possible i'd like to be able to shoot most of my work with 1/2 lenses.
    and i won't even talk about long terms economy when you only buy 2 or 4 lenses max compared to the prices of most glass you can find for the E-mount.
    After that to be even more annoying, the flipping screen is something i love on my 750D so i love the fact that you have it on the XT4, the 2 SD that are the same is also a good point for the XT4
    Here is what i plan on shooting most of the time: Street photography, Weddings, Automotive, portraits, maybe a little bit of video?, landscape.
    in terms of setting i'll mostly be using the single point focus unless i do portraits (unless eye auto focus doesnt handle well even in a simple portrait session)
    panning shot same stuff, single point + Continuous auto focus and that's it you good to go
    It's actually the only review i found that was truly realistic and wasnt biased so huge kudo to you, even to this day this video is still helpfull
    Btw if i wrote all that monologue it's also to put "on paper" the reason of why i'm going with fuji cause it is still quite a lot of money for someone like me but if i want to get started with professional work that's the direction i'll follow :D
    tbh i'm sure the a7III would be a better option when it come to professional work but at the end of the day, the menus, the ergonomics and many other little details make me feel like i'm gonna regret it if i go to sony
    there is a few others but i think the main part is here :D
    if you are still reading, thanks first of all and i hope you'll have an amazing day and that you'll be able to go out and shoot, cause at the end that's what truly matters right :D have fun guys and feel free to share what you think :D

      @@davi_brt I did, I went with Fuji XT-4. Bang for buck (at the time I bought it) it seemed to be the better deal. I have now seen the A7III go for LESS than the XT-4 in the recent EOFY sales! @@SummersSnaps hello Eddy, thanks for the feedback. In my country the Fuji Is still cheaper, but not for so much Money. What do you think about the fuji RAW files? Regarding the ISO and Dynamic range, do you feel yourself limited by the apsc?

    • @SummersSnaps
      @SummersSnaps 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davi_brt I come from a Pentax K-1, so I have been spoiled for dynamic range and ISO, but really the XT-4 has impressed me, it's enough. I still have my K-1 and medium format 645D, so for me I wasn't looking at an entire system swap, but rather just rounding out my tool bag with something a little better for AF and 'capture the moment' work. I would still use my K-1 for landscape use (and likely still would even if I had the FF Sony).
      One thing that has impressed me and that I didn't factor into the purchasing decision is the Fujisims and the rather indepth customisation it offers to providing something very pleasing SooC. This has been a huge relief to me, allowing me to juggle work (where RAW is necessary often) and 'fun' shooting whereby SooC is often enough or 90% there. You might find this recent video I did interesting as I touch on this subject; th-cam.com/video/ez4fQzr4lWs/w-d-xo.html

    Amazing review, made my life really easy in choosing X-T4 over A7III. So the key takeaway is that if you are looking for a camera to shoot videos primarily like myself then XT-4 is for you. I was looking for a camera to shoot short documentaries and short films. The fact that X-T4 gives you 4K60p, FHD 120p & 240p and 10 bit video in such a small package at this price is a deal of the century and on top of all that X-T4 gives you very nominal crop factor which is very much acceptable and can be easily managed while framing a shot. For video shooters X-T4 is s a much better choice as a B-camera while main camera being a low light beast like A7Sii aur BMPCC 4K, Canon 5D MkIV, C100 MkII etc. There is a reason that DP review updated its hybrid camera buying guide placing X-T4 at no 1 and A7III at 2nd. Given the video specs of X-T4 it is clearly targeting enthusiast video shooters. Also in his review Hugh Brownstone calls the Fujifilm X-T4 the best balanced and least compromised camera on the market! So if you are looking for a mirrorless for shooting videos then close your eyes and go for X-T4. Though not as vast as Sony's glass collection, there are enough Fuji X mount glass for you at decent pricing. I bought my X-T4 with 16-80 f4 kit lens on 23rd July and have been using it daily, quality is amazing. Will post a short doc on my channel entirely shot on this camera by end of September.

      Thank you, I'm glad that it was helpful! It still depends on what kind of video are you shooting. Some people may prefer A7 III because of the autofocus or full frame sensor for example. As I have explained, I don't think that there is overall clear winner.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@maxkitaev3524 Not really. The whole 10-bit thing is very overdramatized by spec warriors.
      In reality there is very few people who can take advantage of 10-bit codec. 10-bit is definitely nice thing to have, but nothing is falling apart with Sony. Especially if you use s-gamut3.cine and Cine4.

    I have a Sony A7 System (A7rii & A7iii) and a Fuji System (GFX 50S medium format). Both are highly capable systems and you can’t go wrong with either. On paper (and in your mind), the Sony usually pulls ahead and is a great all-purpose tool. The Fuji (X and GFX) systems are incredibly capable and subjectively much more enjoyable to use due to the manual dedicated buttons and dials - in particular, if you are a street shooter, you can quickly change shutter/aperture/ISO settings *before* you even turn on the camera. I picked the Sony because I have a large number of Leica lenses that I adore and after several successful projects/books/exhibitions, I’m now superstitiously attached to. If it wasn’t for that, and if I was starting over again, I would pick the Fuji X system. When I recommend cameras to friends, I usually recommend the Fuji X system.

I know that is only 8bit codec and cannot do 4K60 but Full Frame uncropped 25P is the king... The image you get from the Sony sensor is insane...Not saying that the XT3/XT4 are not capable cameras but full frame video is awesome. Huge difference at least in my eyes

    Great video! One correction I'd like to make is at 15:00 you say Fuji has no f2.8 24-70mm equivalent zooms. I believe the red badge XF16-55 f2.8 is exactly that. It's more like a 24-82.5mm equivalent thanks to the cropped sensor, effectively providing a little more reach.

    I currently own an A7iii, but I am considering moving down to an X-T4 due to it being smaller, and its more creative workflow (film simulation, double exposure, dials and film camera form factor.) though, i am planning to grow with either Sony or Fuji as i buy more lenses and hope to someday work as a full time photographer. I plan to shoot portraits, events, landscapes, Astro, macro, product photography, basically everything. I want to shoot as an enthusiast, as well as a professional with my camera. Is the X-T4s smaller size and retro feel worth sacrificing the superior AF, DR, and ISO performance that Sony has, and may continue to build in the future? Can Fuji offer enough as a working photography camera for all listed scenarios with the lenses they offer now/the sensor size itself? Or will it suffer in many of the categories listed that i will be shooting due to APSC, therefor I should keep my FF A7iii and admire the Fuji from a distance.. knowing it may not be everything I need for work.
    I know there’s less bokeh on APS-C, and more grain in low light, I know that moving down to an APSC will only gain me benefits ergonomically, not photographically. Just want some insight from either you, or the community. Thanks in advance, everyone!

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Those are very complex and philosophical questions, so I am afraid that the answer to all of them is that it depends on your preferences, specific use case and what is sufficient quality of output for you...
      X-T4 isn't any smaller though, equivalent lenses are also roughly the same size.

    • @malfunkt
      @malfunkt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your Sony A7III is an amazing camera. However, it can be great to try out other systems. It's a bit like dipping your toes into Mac vs PC, except with cameras you have quite a few more options. The Fuji is a ton of fun to shoot with, especially if you are just rattling off JPEGs with the odd RAW photo thrown in when you know you might need it. If you are considering Fuji, for portrait consider the 50mm F2, the new 50mm F1 (!), KamLan 50mm F1.1 II, Rokinon 12mm F2 (for astro), or the Fujifilm 10-24mm. The older Fujifilm X-H1 and X-T3 should be considerations as there sensors are just a smidge behind the X-T4, and they can be purchased cheap. Even X-T2 is very good. Perhaps you maybe be able to keep both systems? Build a small Fuji kit with older body, a couple lens. Or just buy an older Fujifilm X100F, X100T, X70, XF10 to have a second body that is all-in-one. very slim, and that you use for fun.

    Hardware aside, I believe Fuji wins out on software by a long shot. More aspect ratio options, focus stack options, timers(long exposures) that are customizable, film simulations (for travel pics) etc etc. It just feels well rounded and a smarter camera overall. As a a7iii user I wish Sony would improve the software features.
    PS: A suggestion/request. I think it would be valuable if you can compare things like this also as very few reviews go into the software features like these.

    • @TheHybridShooter

      I have talked about film simulations, but Sony also has picture profiles, which as great. Other than that I haven't really found software features important enough to talk about in 15min. compatison.

      @chandrasekhar-travelandfoo1373 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Film simulations you talked about. Was just encompassing everything I could recollect. Fuji also lets us configure custom long exposure values beyond the typical 30 secs and bulb which I find great. Also, focus bracketing and 4:5,1:1 aspect ratios are great for food and product photography. Being a software engineer I believe some(not all) of these are very easy to implement but somehow Sony doesn't.

      @@TheHybridShooter Thanks for the answer. I think the same, the M4/3 have no future. You can have very portable pocketeable APSC sensor cameras that can have much better image quality than a M4/3. I think for the future even the APSC market will shrink, when the cheap full frame mirrorless take the market. There will be sub $500 full frame mirrorless in the future, and the APSC will have no way to compete.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Fuji APS-C is now basically the new M43, in a good way. Downfall of M43 is mostly a fault of Oympus and Panasonic, as they failed to innovate the system. If Fuji and Sony will be more committed to APS-C, it can be around for a long time as an alternative to FF with better feature set at given price.

    • @koolkutz7
      @koolkutz7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheHybridShooter True. I think Panasonic & Olympus hit the resolution brick wall when they put 20MP sensors in their cameras. I think Panasonic saw the decline coming & that's why they invested in FF which is what seems to be on-trend at the moment. • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Steve Ferneyhough They didn't just see the decline, they caused it by the lack of innovation. It is not something that just happened to them. There should have been GH6 with new BSI sensor and 5.3K RAW recording released in December 2019 alongside 25-62.5mm F1.7. Those are always cheaper than Fuji counterparts and they easily outperform X-mount lenses, thanks to lower pixel density on FF sensor. E-mount is definitely more budget friendly system than Fuji XF.

    My question is what is it like to shoot all day with these cameras? Maybe even two days in a row? Is one camera better than the other in terms of ergonomics over the long haul. Do your hands hurt at the end of the day after a thousand shots? Secondly, after a year's worth of work, how do the cameras hold up to heavy usage? Do things fall off, do the buttons and dials still work? How do the sensors hold up to dust? Sony has a bad reputation for sensor dust issues for instance. How easy is it to change camera settings in the field, after a long day on location and the perfect shot comes along requiring a major change in settings? Which camera would you lose the shot because of menus and settings complexity, buttons and dials positioning/functions? Have you ever dropped one of these little electronic marvels? What happened if you did? Can you get either one of them repaired where you live or are these just toys to be fondled and worried over all the time? One drop or bump and throw it away? Let us know!! Stay safe!

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I usually cover those questions in my long term reviews, those are available for A7 III on the channel. All mirrorless cameras collect the dust the same... I have used a lot of cameras, so I am generally fine with controls on any camera expect for entry-level cameras such as M50, and I don't loose pictures because of the wrong settings. Fortunately, I have never dropped any camera and I have never had any reliability issues.

    Hi there, I know this question have been asked million times but I am trying to upgrade my camera for my video business and I would really value your professional and personal advice.
    Would you recommend XT4 + 16-55 2.8 OR A7iii + SIGMA 24-70 f2.8?
    Requirement:
    - 80% of run and gun shooting, Event highlight video, Wedding, Yoga commercial, various B-Roll
    - Good IBIS : Dont wanna use Gimbal unless I really need long tracking shot
    - Auto focus must be good due to run and gun style Focus change has to be smooth (Some fuji lens sucks as they change focus too rapidly despite the settings in camera, especially for non-native fuji lens)
    - Good dynamic range and ideally a bit better in low light setting.
    I am concern about the JERKY behavior of the XT4 IBIS as I have seen on other youtube video.
    Also that full frame look with the SIGMA 24-70 f2.8 is king on the Sony, not sure if the fuji 16-55 2.8 can do this.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, I can't really tell you much more than what I said in the video. IBIS is not a problem on X-T4 anymore. If you want full frame look, you need a full frame camera, so A7 III might be a better choice for your.

    I still choose the Fuji for stills. In general, the lens ecosystem is cheaper and, as a frequent traveler, I can make my X-T3 small for travel (plus use my X-System lenses with a smaller camera such as the X-T30) or make it big and "pro" for shoots with larger lenses and battery grip. It has some weaknesses compared to some FF systems, but they're easily overcome. The Fuji system serves me better for double duty for personal and pro use. Pixel peeping and small equipment differences also matter way less when you're actually out shooting and not sitting at your computer googling 'Fuji vs Sony'. The constant equipment focus in photography gets old, especially the "why I'm switching to X videos" (the reason: For clicks and views).

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, that's completely fine, there is no need to justify it with such comments if you are really happy with the system... Fuji lenses are more expensive than full frame counterparts though.

    I think the real problem with a73 is the rolling shutter jiggle. It's gross, especially combined with the ibis, and makes the camera unusable for video. The xt4 has outrageous readout speed with no perceivable jiggle. The issues with tricky lighting (sunset) and low light are definitely true negative aspects with Fuji xt4
