Ep 3 when she fast traveled to the guardian stones then found her way to bleak falls, that is the quintessential skyrim experience. Fast traveling as close as you can to the objective then journeying there and most likely getting distracted by everything on the way. this game rules

That was one of the most helpful breakthroughs I had mentally with the game. Travel from where I am to where I want to go, but discover every point I encounter along the way, ignore them at the time, but they're on the map now so I can fast travel back when I want to. It's the perfect way to unlock the map while remaining on task and not technically missing anything. Now, when I have nothing I want to do urgently, I will travel to areas that are sparse on my map and roam around for undiscovered locations 😋

What's cool to think about is you can stand up on one mountain to EYE the view and know that you can just go across that landscape uninterrupted to climb the other mountain you see in the distance. It's not always easy to find a way, but you often can. I love standing on peaks in Skyrim and surveying the landscape. If you move carefully, you can often get down cliffs without falling to your death. But if you do fall to your death, it's hilarious.

Idk if anyone else brought this up but don't worry too much about what happened in the past games. Unlike other RPGS like Dragon Age or Mass Effect The Elder Scrolls are much less connected by narrative and characters. Each game in the series takes place within a different Province of Tamriel following a new hero usually after the events of the last game. Skyrim takes place 200 years after the events of Oblivion (Set in Cyrodiil) the largest time jump in any of the mainline game so it's very disconnected to the games that came before. There's many books that recall events from these games from the events of Daggerfall to the events of Oblivion. So yeah pretty much don't feel like you need to play all the games in an order you're free to play Skyrim then maybe jump into the older games like Morrowind and Oblivion.
The MMO Elder Scrolls Online is set 1000 years before the events of Skyrim and explores a massive range of Provinces including parts of Skyrim. This is also a pretty good place for new people to the series but can be really overwhelming like alot of MMOs. Elder Scrolls VI will no doubt be set not long after Skyrim similar to how Oblivion is set only a few years after Morrowind. Who knows maybe by playing through Skyrim you'll see some possible nods towards the setting of the new Elder Scrolls game, Have some ideas myself but I think most people see the game being set in High Rock, Hammerfell or both.
    Elder Scrolls Timeline:
    Elder Scrolls Online | 2E 583 - 1000 Years Before Skyrim
    Elder Scrolls: Arena | 3E 399
    Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall | 3E 405
    Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind | 3E 427
    Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion | 3E 433 - 200 Years Before Skyrim
    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim | 4E 201

I got my 👁 on you. You will get plenty of places to store stuff. There is a house outside Whiterun you can buy. But even before you buy it. You can store things in the chest and strongbox outside. I’m unsure if the barrels are safe. The chest definitely are. Looking forward to the next episode.

Liz, you play how you wanna play. I've played dozens of hours and have barely touched the main story. It's exciting to see someone experience this game for the first time. 👁️ Love it! Oh, another tip for the day, start disenchanting all magical items weapons, armor, rings, necklaces etc. Really anything that has some distinction such as something that may say iron sword of shock. You can learn how to use enchantments on your own items. Great video! Can't wait for part 6!

The "no backseating" thing you said at the start is so relatable! I love video games because of how they make me feel and there's no fun in playing them if you're getting constantly instructed by other people who've played it before and figured stuff out! The best part about a game imo is to learn it by yourself and that's what makes it enjoyable. The initial curiosity, mishaps, sudden realizations, stumbling upon great things by yourself, it's all included in the exploration of a new exciting game.
The gaming community is kinda bad at not backseating as I know, but I believe the Skyrim community is a bit more mature in that sense as we've all grown up through the years playing the game, so I HOPE everyone will abide by this rule of no backseating and just letting her play as she does

The little triangles beside weapons/armor in your inventory indicate it's the 'best' item you're carrying of that type. If it's on a dead enemy, it means it's better than anything you're currently carrying.

Don't forget to level up when you get the chance to. Upgrading Stamina increases carry weight too. Enchanting is too stressful for a newbie in my opinion. You get good enchanting items from enemies and quests. Soul gems are mainly used to recharge items that are enchanted. You can buy a spell tomb called Soul Trap to get victim souls and it will store it in a empty soul gem. 👁️

Eye like to hoard too. You can buy a home and store EVERYTHING in a single storage cabinet/storage unit. You can also store things separately. You can put your clothing in a chest, your armor in a wardrobe, your odds and ends in a barrel etc. Books can be stored/displayed on bookshelves, If you put something in a storage unit that isn't yours, your property might not be there the next day. You can become the head of the college in Winterhold and you'll be given a really nice place to live at the college. Today's episode the Jarl told you that you can buy property. You did things for his town and he rewarded you. They do this in most every town. Home cost differs from town to town. Jarl's right-hand man is the one to see to purchase a house.

im sure probably many people have given this tip but disenchant items to learn the enchantments so you can craft them yourselves and increase your enchanment level, as well with this, learning the order and tier of the soul gems would be useful, i wont tell you the order of superiority as it would take away from the satisfaction from learning a feature of the game, and im guessing most people would want to see reactions rather than give aways

Seemed like you might have figured it out but in case it wasn't clear, you can equip a weapon, shield, or spell in each hand. When you select it in your inventory it says L or R so you know which one it's in, and the two-handed sword says LR. Eye couldn't tell if you realized that because it cut right after.

Honestly, I recommend against fast travel, or minimize it, especially for new players. There is A LOT of cool stuff and eye candy you will never see if you spend your time teleporting around Skyrim. Explore, follow little trails, see stuff in the distance and find a way to it. Of course, Fast Travel can obviously save a lot of time, and jogging everywhere can get boring, especially along roads you've already traveled.

    "Eye" of Magnus!
    More Tips:
-Marking a quest as active in your quest log will point you in the right direction of NPCs and locations you're looking for
-Outside of every major hold (Whiterun for example) is a horse stable with a carriage driver nearby; paying a small fee will allow you to travel to other holds, a great way to explore
-I believe the "dog quest" may be the one in Falkreath; Carriage Driver > Falkreath > talk to town's Blacksmith
    Archetype locations:
-Warrior's Guild: Whiterun (the building that looks like a "boat" for a roof
    -Mage's Guild: Winterhold
-Thieve's Guild: Riften (and that's all I'm saying)

Hey loved the video, enchanting can be confusing at first so I will try to give a brief summary I hope this helps.
You disenchant an item and destroy it to learn how to make things with those abilities, then you pick what you want to Enchant and pick the Enchantments, and pick the soul gem you want to use when making it, the bigger the soul gem the more powerful the effect, soul gems work as batteries for the whole process and can be used to recharge the Enchantment when it runs out.

Enjoying watching someone play for the first time. There aren't too many first time playthroughs of this game in 2022! I still remember binge playing this all night when it released on 11.11.11 and barely staying awake at work the next day. Just a few things mechanics that aren't that obvious if you don't pay a lot of attention to reading up on it...
    1) When equipping weapons or spells I think it's easiest to categorize your offensive items into one or two handed weapons. Great swords/war axes/war hammers are two handed weapons, so they do more damage, but you can't use other items like shields or healing spells at the same time. When you are equipping weapons, spells, etc. you can equip one-handed weapons in either your right or left hand. So when you see an L or an R in your inventory, that indicates which hand the item is equipped. For two-handed weapons, you will see an LR, meaning both hands are occupied. With magic, you can mix and match different spells, so ex. a fireball in your right hand, and a healing spell in your left. As you get better with magic, you can potentially unlock the ability to double-equip the same spell in both hands, and use a more powerful version.
    2) If you do end up using a controller, you can make it easier to swap out equipment by favoriting it. So if you want to primarily use a sword, you can keep it in your favorites, but you can also favorite things like a bow and arrow or a healing spell so that you can quickly switch your playstyle, depending on the situation, or heal yourself quickly once you finish combat. You can access your favorites on controller using the up and down on the D pad. Not sure about PC as I've only ever played on xbox, but I'm sure favoriting is still useful on mouse & keyboard. It would also make it convenient to swap to your control animal perk.
    3) For raw ingredients, you will see that they have 4 different properties. You can always determine the first property of the ingredient just by consuming the raw ingredient. To figure out the other 3 properties, you would need to combine ingredients at an alchemical station (like the one at Dragonhold near the court mage). The more you mix and match ingredients, the more properties you figure out.
Hopefully that isn't too much of a backseat gaming comment, but those are some pretty big game concepts that should help make things less confusing as you're getting used to the game.

A good, worthy video. The EYEs of the Nine are watching (not a serious reference). There is so much detail in this game, things to discover. For a laugh sometime, walk around one of the towns without clothes (it's only PG-13, at most). But there is no right or wrong way to play, and enough main and minor quests and tasks to keep busy.
And no, nothing goes bad and there's a player home in the near future.
Keep enjoying, it can be a lot of fun.

I watched all your current playthrough and i got some useful tips for you. 1. You can use your Left Hand(LT) for Healing Spell & your Right Hand(RT) for other Offensive Spells or even a One-handed Weapon but can't use Two-Handed Weapon or you can combine both Hands with same Spells to have a better Effects. 2. You can see on the top left corner of all Equipment if it "Heavy Armor" or "Light Armor" so that the Stats of the Light Armor Peak work, the more Light Armor piece (Boots,Armor,Glove,Helmet) you have the more defense you get. I could give you more but it's more fun seeing you discovering it.
