Skyrim Battles - The Ebony Warrior vs. The Colosseum - Harkon, Miraak, Karstaag, and more

- My first battle video with my Colosseum map! I have put the Ebony Warrior in many videos, but usually as the "final boss" in the last round, or in special videos such as the survival format. Now he's finally getting his own episode!
This video also serves as an introduction of my Colosseum. Of course, I'll still make videos in lots of other locations. But if I need a decent battleground and the regular locations aren't fitting, I'll use my Colosseum instead.
I was thinking about putting some neutral NPCs on the seats to have a sort of crowd, but there would be too many issues, so I decided to keep the ranks empty.
The Ebony Warrior's perk Deflect Blows comes in handy here. Both the Giant and the Lurker Vindicator put themselves into bleedout mode (at 1:36 and 2:45, respectively), and the Giant actually kills himself with it at 1:51!

I had no clue that the Ebony Knight was so big. He towered over most of his opponents.
I've only ever played in 1st person so i never noticed the size difference.
Yes, he's 20% bigger than the usual redguard! He makes Falx and Miraak look tiny 😂
require your level 80 to meet the Ebany Black race in city anywhere. This is black race and he is taller about 8ft and stronger
There's a whole theory about him and it's supported by the fact that he's bigger

Karstaag is such a beast. I didn't expect him to kill both. And that stomp was so badass the way he stomped and a blizzard blew both of them away
Karstaag is one of the must fun NPCs to watch fight! That's why he's in almost every other video I make 😂

I thought Ebony Warrior was a tough boss until I fought Karstaag! Hardest boss in the game hands down
I personally found the Ebony Warrior more challenging, but it depends on your build. Either way, they're both incredibly powerful!
I've always found Karstagg to be way easier.

Karstaag was harder for me but to be fair I was a frost knight build so my frost wasn't doing much on karstaag. A huge source of my damage was frost enchantment on my axe and frost cloak boosted by potions of fortify destruction.

Many people did these battles already, but no one did it so clear and academic. Beautiful background and lightning. No stupid mods ( for stats changing).

Kharstaag is to be feared, and with very good reason. He is not an opponent to be taken lightly.

Possibly, yeah! I noticed Ildari always stays at a much closer distance than the others, so she died first every single time
@@lSlendermaster I noticed her AI is actually that of a spellswords, she’s programmed to use her dagger and destruction spells simultaneously after her staff runs out. The others don’t. That might be why

I think Miraak/Falx vs Ebony Warrior and the vampires vs EW could go either way tbh. Miraak didnt shout as often as he usually does in these battles. And of course the colosseum is fantastic.👍

if you play around with the creation kit, you know Miraak has a handful of different versions in the game files with different stats, combat styles, and different sets of spells/shouts.

I'm still surprised sometimes how tanky he is. Karstaag's power attacks are no joke, but the Ebony Warrior's healthbar hardly moves 😆

I think if he made more use of his bow instead of immediately charging into melee range, they would legit have beaten Kaarstag. His arrows are stupidly strong while Kaarstag has no ranged options.
Something tells me the Vampire round is 50/50
Yeah, it is inconsistent! The vampire's drain life spells are really effective against the Ebony Warrior, but AI and other random things matter tooo
I've seem the ebony warrior fight with vampires once and he lost it
I think it really matters that his max level is bounds higher than everyone else. 20 levels is hard to overcome if you’re talking sword or arrow damage. He could realistically fry everyone if he just whipped out the bow and shouted everyone back😂

2. The Giant round was suprisingly close, mainly cause they kept stunning him.
3. I actually thought he was gonna lose for a little while against the mages because, even with his high resistances, he was just getting peppered with *everything* and was so slowed he barely moved and his magicka was probably gone alredy. But at 3:40 it feels like the Ebony Warrior just said "Aight, now I'm mad" and just started performing *disrespectful* finishers on them 1 by one.
He folded the Dremora Lord, tore out Illdari's Heartstone, juggled Neloth so he couldn't even defend himself, killed Savos with a bow *at close range* and he didn't even give Malkoran the time of day.
4. I feel like half the reason the Vampires did so well was because their signature Vampire Drain does non-elemental damage, meaning the Ebony Warrior has no resistance to it. Also those Gargoyles Harkon was spawning are not to be underestimated.
5. The Miraak and Carius round was interesting. Oddly enough, Miraak didn't shout very much and went into melee immediately rather than testing the waters first with spells at range.
But he was definetly the tank of the team and The Ebony Warrior's AI looked like it focused mainly on him anyway.
However, Carius was definetly doing the heavy lifting in terms of damage. Even with the Ebony Warrior's 50% resistance to all Elemental damage and high armor rating, he was taking *big* chunks of health out of him.
6. The tagteam against Kaarstag was *really* close. I feel like it really could have gone either way there if the Ebony Warrior didn't get stunned that final time.

3. Yes! His magicka got drained very quickly from Ildari's attacks, but they shouldn't have made him mad. 😆 It was a really interesting round.
4. You're right indeed! The Drain Life spell is really effective against the Ebony Warrior, and Harkon did well spamming his spells from the background.
5. I think the reason why he went for melee right away is the close distance. He really didn't shout much, but I'm glad he equipped his Dragon Aspect right away. He sometimes doesn't do that at all.
And again, you're right about Falx! Having him do damage while Miraak is tanking is the most efficient way for them in this fight.
6. It really was close, but the main reason why I chose this recording was that it got very tense at the end. I've repeated this round many times (as usual when I record my videos), and Karstaag usually dominated. I even replaced Falx with Miraak, who is *much* better prepared against Karstaag, and they still lost against him most of the time, which I really wasn't expecting!
hed make an amazingly scary antagonist just throwing the mages around and ripping their throats out while their spells bounce off him
If he were the main boss, people would actually be scared, unlike with Alduin 😆
After I saw the ebony warrior wipe the floor with those mages I knew he was just winning the rest of the battles.

Ebony warrior v the four mages basically sums up my first few fights with him with a pure mage build.
He really doesn't mess around! 😂
Kaarstag's enterance was the coolest. The stomp set the stage perfectly for what was about to happen.
That’s pretty crazy because when I was doing the Neloth quest? We got the black book and left the dwarven ruins, and I got attacked by 2 dragons. Neloth single handedly took them out with no help from me. Neloth is strong af but I guess the ebony warrior makes quick work of him.
Oh yeah, Neloth is really good! Especially against fire dragons because he's a Dunmer. But the Ebony Warrior is on a whole other level 😄
He will always be a legend to us!!! If he used his bow against karstaag he would’ve won but oh well once again karstaag wins
He's always fun to watch! His bow wouldn't help him much here and would actually be bad for him (no healing, less armor rating, no blocking), and Karstaag can easily catch up to him 😄

I'm actually surprised he lost to Karstaag, I remember the ebony warrior being more difficult than Karstaag.
I personally found him more difficult to beat too, but in a direct face-off, he's no match for Karstaag 😄
also mightve been because I enchanted custom armor for my Karstaag fight and dismissed my follower for the ebony warrior to make it more dramatic@@lSlendermaster

The ebony warrior is kinda like a main protagonist from a previous elder scrolls game or his very own seperate game 😂 A fearless, nearly unbeatable warrior who can literally only be defeated by *THE* last Dragonborn. No other mortal combatant stands a chance, almost like its destined for the ebony warrior and the dragonborn to cause one or the other's ultimate fate. His only physical counter is the Dragonborn. Like Ice VS Fire
I like to think that he's the protagonist of the next Elder Scrolls game, but he probably won't be. 😂 I wish there were some lore about him already

Awesome! Ew who is the first to agree to test the Colosseum, and defeated all the strongest opponents and COULD have won his freedom......if Karstaag had not appeared.....x.x
But it was obvious that Karstaag is there for that 😎
Impressively, Ew amazed us at several moments, especially at 3:40, like a gladiator waiting for the right moment when his opponent lets his guard down.
And Ildari that she had her brain ripped out by Ew who is fed up with her O.O
Falx Carius who did not want to give Ew his freedom and who was executed by him, like a gladiator movie 😎
And the music you put on for me is brilliant and glorious.

Karstaag is way above everyone else, yes 😆
He has improved A.I. compared to other npc and bosses. He moves with his shield up when needed unlike most characters that put it up in patterns. He switches and draws his bow so fast along with better targeting and pathing(some characters will literally pause when you go from hand to hand to range). The way he murdered those mages and vampires was similar to how most of us Dragonborn would do it, but he has some of the coolest execution pool, ngl I was a little jealous haha
I've seen a lot of really stupid behavior by the Ebony Warrior, but I do agree that his switches between bow and sword are very good! Definitely one of the best NPCs for fights 😄

Very cool arena! But it looks too smooth and clean, maybe you can add cracks and other defects on the walls? And another question: how did you make sure that the magicians do not damage their summons?
Thanks! 😄 I don't think I'll modify this again because it would be a lot of work and I'm afraid of messing things up due to bugs. 😅
This is actually the default behavior! Friendly fire doesn't exist in Skyrim except for specific exceptions. Mages won't damage their allies (summons or not) even with AoE spells, and archers that hit allies with arrows also won't affect them

@@huugobingo5604 The Ebony Warrior doesn't stand a chance against all Dragon Priests, even if we only include the original 8 masked ones. 😂 Aside from that, their AI is absolutely terrible, and it would get very chaotic and hard to watch (especially with a ton of summons going on), and the framerate would be terrible too, so I probably won't do that. 😅

DUDE!! Awesome arena! Awesome action! Pure awesomeness around. The only -Minor-criticism I would give is that the scenery around the arena is a bit bland but I also understand why you may have had it like that (recording footage, fps, etc). I did'nt know ebony warrior was THAT good!! Outside of Karstaag he cleaned up ALL his opponents. I thought he would have lost to the mages but that was no problem. This is a video for the legends!
PS - Need to watch some of your older videos as I need to be up-to-date on it.
Thank you!! 🥳 It took a long time to build, and I'm glad it was worth it! You're totally right about the bland environment. 😄 The fps are one reason; another one is the fact that the Colosseum is already so big that it's almost beyond the render distance if I zoom out enough to show the full building. You can see the ground disappear at the beginning of the video, and any objects wouldn't show up either. 😅
The Ebony Warrior is incredibly good indeed! He has very few weaknesses and is probably the most versatile NPC in the game. It's always fun making rounds with him. Great that you enjoyed it! 😎

I find myself wondering if the ebony warrior took part in the fight against the dominion in hammerfell. That would explain some things.
I wish we had some lore info about him. There's no confirmed background at all so far. Maybe The Elder Scrolls 6 will clear up some things. 🤔

Most of these encounters felt like they could go in either direction. Constantly staggering attacks from the giants or the vampires just having enough numbers for a close win.

I find it insane that the only one who defeated him was the only time he attacked first. Every other time he waited for the others to draw first blood with the exception of mirrak. Insane

I never realized how BIG that mothereffer was.
I beat him, but he semee to be the same size as me. Then again, iw as the dragonborn, so i guess it makes sense. Dude was literally as tall as a giant Vamypre lord man...
I didn't quite realize at first either! I think it's because we fight him on uneven terrain, which makes height differences much less obvious. To be fair, Falx is also fairly small, being an Imperial 😂

Even after all These years the ebony warrior is still always my very last enemy to slay, even karstaag is easy in comparrison on higher difficulties in my opinion. And He was acutally the very first "Boss" i had problems with wenn i was 12 back in the days i still remember the good old days this Mountain of a Men comes and challanges you, no ambush no backstabbing just a clean fair duel, since u had plenty of time to get all the shouts in the World and weapons its Still pretty fair(but still annoying) that He got the disarm shout
I struggled more with him than with Karstaag too! The Ebony Warrior is more balanced overall, even if Karstaag is technically better, especially when it comes to crowd control. Shouting the Ebony Warrior down the mountain and seeing him get back up and shoot you with arrows is a fun experience 😆

Yeah, there are enough ways for the player to beat him. Imagine if he spawned at earlier levels😆
The vampire stood such a great chance cus all four of them can bypass his mage & normal armour, AND heal themselves with vampiric drain. His only saving grace was his absorbing sword.
Yes, they're really effective against him! Especially with Harkon lurking in the back, summoning gargoyles and rapidly draining his health

The ebony warrior is an absolute monster, the only reason he lost against karstagg is because hes almost impossible to beat up close, you have to keep your distance. One of my friends was mind blown when I beat him on my second try just using fireballs
Karstaag's stomps are insane! Plus the constant frost damage too. Yeah, fire is his nemesis. 3 Arch Pyromancers get very dangerous even for him
@@lSlendermaster that'd be interesting to see. I tried beating him with weapons so many times and got absolutely annihilated. But I tried a destruction build with 100% cost reduction, kept the fireballs coming and he went down FINALLY. Do you have any fights with the crazy mage guy who lives in the tunnels under honningbrew meadery?

I feel guilty for one shotting legendary mode Ebony Warrior on my sneak thief character. 30x backstab damage and spamming crouch disappearing into a cloud of smoke, and I slit his throat with a cinematic animation. I decided not to soul trap him and I put his armor on a stand in my house in the woods.
Hey, at least there is hope he went to Sovngarde! Not like with some evil people who soul trap him 😆

It's the animation for ripping out her heart, but since the Ebony Warrior is very tall and this affects animation positions, it did look brutal! 😂
