Stumbled upon your video by chance, very informative! Only thing of notice for me was that whomever it was that was filming that day sounded like a straight hater! Thanks for the vid though!
We’re glad it was informative for you. The guy filming, otherwise known as me, replying to you right now, isn’t a hater at all. Ripping on your friends is a natural thing. There’s nothing but love for Albert and his 899 here boss.
Great video my Panigale 899 has almost 30,000 miles and i ride the bike super hard. I bought the bike because i saw the forum of the girl who made it to 80,000 miles on her 899. Hope to get mine to 100,000 miles one day
I sold the bike recently but it was still running excellent! My friend's 1199 has around 75k miles with no issues- he even overshot the 30k desmo service by 25k miles lol
Funny thing is i just got my 959 panigale 4/8/23 got home went to clean it a couple hours later and found a fork leaking 🤦🏽♂️ lol im like damn really so now i got to take it back and play the waiting game and see how long thatll be hopefully my excitement doesn’t fade away either 😂 mine barely hit 2,700 miles almost new for a 16’
I know a guy thats got a 999 from 2003..? he does his own maint and the bike is still running. He doesnt ride it much because his wife refuses to let him put miles on it. #whipped.
Hey man, great video! Looking into a higher mileage 899 around 23000 miles and your video was informative. Has there been any issues since the video and what mileage is it at now? Thanks!
Hey great to hear from you! Currently just under 22k with most of my rides since this video being aggressive canyons. No issues just need to let air out of the clutch when I ride hard but that’s a very common Ducati hydraulic clutch thing
@@spencerhawes2977 of course! I really do think Ducati has come a very long way in terms of reliability since being bought out by VW. I don’t have any subconscious fear of being stranded when I ride
Hey man I’ve been bingeing your videos and have been looking into getting a 899 or 959 and I wanted ask what year is yours and how much is insurance costing you ?
I officially sold it in December mainly due to not riding as much as I used to. We still have the RC51 I plan to do a video soon on the final thoughts of the bike over the course of time I owned it!
Problem with Ducati is Not only they are Not reliable, parts Take a Long Time to arrive (even in Germany) and Costs for maintenence are astronomical ....
I'd consider them to be reliable these days. My shifter spring was a very random occurrence in the grand scheme of failures and the friends I have with Ducati's along with myself have all experienced Honda like reliability otherwise. In the off chance there is a failure, it certainly does take forever to get a part and maintenance is definitely much more expensive; no doubt about that!
@@veejay120793 If they are that reliable, tell me why Every ducati owner Ive met at Meets always said that theyve had problems with em? Lol Test rode one the Pinagale V4 Things a monster and was going to buy one, but ive steered away from it as soon as i heard others peoples experience with it.
@@vistalacorsa5343 So what kind of problem are they got?I ride with a lot of Ducati people there’s some 60k miles+ trouble free not even stators. They used to be alot of maintenance but once Audi took over Ducati they’re easy no more belt change, just desmo service every 15k(some people skip till 30k)
@@veejay120793 From what Ive remembered, Hard starts specially when bike is warm, Leaky gaskets sometimes even before a few thousand miles on the engine, smoky startups, and at worse case scenario, one of my buddies had an engine failure even before the valve service was due. Idk, maybe ill just have to buy a 1299 or a V2 to experience it first hand Lol,
Besides the shifter fork detent spring mentioned in the video which is pretty rare, my bike has been bulletproof. Have a friend with a 1199 Panigale with 65k and zero issues and a friend with a Monster 1200s with 60k and zero issues. Pretty reliable
Those springs cost around 5 dollars from www.oemducati.com/ and you can buy the separately, think your workshop robbed you. Not your fault but maybe good to check there first in the future
Good to know! It probably won’t happen again but I know for next time. This particular spring came mounted on the gear when it came in and both the mechanic and I questioned why the gear was necessary if the spring is usually the piece that fails but oh well
Cheers from a 959 owner. I’m at 34k 🎉. Luckily I haven’t had any issues.
How were your valves on the second desmo service?

Great video man
Thank you for your support!!
Funny as hell. I’m looking at buying one very soon. What are the odds you’re also a Nissan guy. I have a 73 240Z with an L28ET swap 😂
