    This just came across my path. Wish I could have seen this 3yr ago. I have a 70 scout 800A series also. Converted it to power steering years ago. Now I want to get rid of the old drum brakes and get disc I think. Was wondering what kind of axles I would need to fit her. Just wish I was younger now and had the time and the money to invest in her more before I give her to my son. He was 12 when I taught him how to drive a stick shift in her. I love my old Scout!!

    Great work. Where did you get the flares??

    I really like the battery installation in the old locations for the Scout storage/ saddle tanks. That's a great mod! Hopefully you can hide the proportioning valve for the brakes better... Excellent work on blending the lower quarter panels with the rockers!

      @@suckerpunchgarage5686 please let us know what axles you used and the dimensions? It looks like a rear 14 bolt. Is the front a Dana 60? Did you cut the front axle but had the narrower 14 bolt? I have a dodge kingpin 60 and a narrow 14 bolt I plan to use in my 1967 800.
      The rig looks awesome.

      @@17tuco I used a Dana 44 in front, and a 14 bolt in back. Both axles are out of a square body, and have NOT been cut down at all. I had to use wheels with a lot of back space, and it works flawlessly.

      @@suckerpunchgarage5686 it looks awesome. I love how the tires don’t stick out too much, just the right amount. Your have 37’s? Did you sue bronco fenders?

    It'll be nice to see the turn signals integrated into the front bumper!

      Thanks, I used a summit racing 16 gallon poly tank with sender.

    A vid so nice I watched it twice. Can't wait to see more! How long did it actually take to get it to that point?

    Those look to be 14 bolt, did you have to cut them down? I have a set I'm thinking of using on my 800a.

      14 bolt in rear, Dana 44 up front, they are full length, uncut. I went with a wheel with a deep backspacing. She drives great!

    Lot of work there, but why would you cover up rust, and not just do it right the first time ?

    • @suckerpunchgarage5686
      @suckerpunchgarage5686  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      67 cuda the only rot I didn’t cut out was in the back inside corners, I used some rust converter and sealer and black paint. I didn’t want to take off the quarters and tail light panels at the time so I could get the scout done. I’ve been driving it for a year and enjoying it. I’m working on a few other vehicles now and will blow the whole scout down to make the body straight as an arrow. I’ll be putting more vids up soon. JC

      @@suckerpunchgarage5686 looked like you put plates over both severe, and deep enough to not be just surface rusted areas. Well, it’s up to you how long you want it to last. Just concerned for the future. It looked like you only replaced what was structurally necessary. I’ve got a 67 and 74.
