This just came across my path. Wish I could have seen this 3yr ago. I have a 70 scout 800A series also. Converted it to power steering years ago. Now I want to get rid of the old drum brakes and get disc I think. Was wondering what kind of axles I would need to fit her. Just wish I was younger now and had the time and the money to invest in her more before I give her to my son. He was 12 when I taught him how to drive a stick shift in her. I love my old Scout!!

Did you get all the issues sorted with the exhaust? I'll be doing my 5.3 Exhaust here pretty shortly on my 70' 800. What size exhaust are you using (headers to "wye" and wye back)? Also, how's the catalytic converter doing? I debating on whether to put 2 in the down pipes (1 on each bank) or 1 after the wye like you did.

System is perfect now, speed engineering short header’s are some of the best I’ve used! 2 1/2 pipes all the way down, and the cat works great, and it helped a lot with the smell.

I'm also a little overwhelmed of swapping the original axles for mid 80's chevy 4x4 axles 6 lug, I'm sure that I'll probably have to get offset shackles. What would you recommend?

Fuel cell is a Summit racing SUM-290108, 16 gallon, check out the site for dimensions. I would run new springs with new hangers from BARNS 4WD. And use good plum bobs. Do a CPT front reverse shackle kit from IH parts America. If you do all that the truck will drive really well.
