    Cheaper than a 250F, faster than a modded 250F, smoother and more powerful than ever before and all that was changed was the air box. Absolutely insane, imagine if this bike had as much development as 4 strokes. Can’t wait to see what people think about the all new 2022 YZ125

    I love my 2018 yz250, I ride enduro on it. Have over 220 hours on the stock piston and sparkplug.
    Before anyone buys a 4 stroke, thing to consider is repair costs.
    Look into the price of a new head complete with valves n seals and gaskets set cylinder, piston kit, and timing chain, then price the comparable 2 stroke rebuild. Then be honest with urself and how much extra money you have for a rebuild ever 60 hours on the 4 stroke or 100 hours on the 250 2 stroke, 60 on a 125 2 stroke. Enduro riding double the rebuild time because your not tapped into the rev limiter all day like a mx track riden bike. In 41 years of dirtbikes, I've realized 2 stroke is best for my family. We just have to many bikes to afford 4 stroke race bikes. Thats the bottom line.

    2 strokes are great, but don't hold your breath for a comeback, or huge R&D from Yamaha. I'm glad the YZ125 got a makeover and the 250 got some updates, but the writing on the wall seems obvious to me. I wouldn't be surprised to see the end of Yamaha's 2 stroke lineup by the late 2020's TBH. They're pretty much impossible to green sticker, which means you won't even be able to ride one on public land in California, and I'd bet other states are going to start becoming more strict with offroad emissions as well. Sucks man. 2 strokes will always have a special place in my heart. My first bike was a YZ85, so many fond memories on that bike.

If I had a dime for every clapped-out, non running four stroke out there. I'm 60 and grew up on two strokes. That being said, I'll take the healthy, well maintained four stroke any day. I see this: We used to fix and modify our own bikes, (I still do on my 2-strokes, 60 here also), but we have a dysfunctional generation that does not want to figure out and work on anything, (so they will end up in poverty). We fixed them and kept riding until we wanted a different bike, (which were getting really better every year till the 1986 production rule). They ride them until they break, and that can be all the life that bike will see if nobody ants to plunk 2 grand to fix it, (or figure how to do it).

    Just wanna chime in with something that I’ve thought about and ultimately led me to buy a 2 stroke.
    Are all the big names in moto riding 4 strokes? Yes. Are they the fastest on the track? Debatable, but I’d say yes. Are they the easiest to ride? Yes.
    But you know what a lot of those riders have, sponsors, mechanics, paychecks, factory support, etc.
    They have a team dedicated to rebuilding their 4 stroke. While I’m sure there’s 2 stroke riders getting the same treatment, it’s much more affordable and simpler for a privateer or the average Joe to live with and maintain a 2 stroke.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a much better reason that has to do with our and our kids future. When the 2-stroke were developed and took over the 4-strokes of the late 60's, they were developed by private companies, and using them decreased the cost of a bike just before the sport blew up in the USA, (10 times at least bigger than today in bike sales).
      The 4-stroke (and electric now) are pushed by a dictatorship called the EPA, forced on the industry. FORCE, as only communism knows.
      if we don't want to live under communism that is taking over the industries that more free people built,---we have to reject it, and the business it stole from us to fund itself.

    They aren't equals from a power standpoint. The two stroke fires every time, four stroke every other. The four stroke has 50% higher rpm. Thus, 250F's compare to 125's, not 250 two strokes. The 125 is a good bit lighter than the 250F. The only way to compare the two as race bikes is to put them into the hands of beginners.

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're not that far apart, the years of development have closed the gap. A modern 250f with just an exhaust will put out 41-43 at the tire, a 250 smoker 46. It would only take a little headwork to match the power of a 250 2 stroke on a 250F, and I'd bet four strokes are only 3-5 years away from matching the power of the 250 2 stroke. A 500 two stroke makes about the same as a modern 450f does. 2 strokes are not making some grand comeback, they're too dirty in comparison to their 4 stroke bretheren and more people prefer to ride 4 strokes anyway.
      I love me a 2 stroke, don't get me wrong. In fact the only dirtbike I have in my garage right now is a KX125, but it's not 2007 anymore, four strokes have made a lot of progress.

      For MX tracks across the nation, the 4-strokes proved to be more loud, and the lower frequency travels through the air for longer distances.

    • @domenjeram9180

      2 strokes take much less oil because its only for transmission and you can change it less frequently and get away with it. No filter as well. If you dont engine brake bottom ends will last pretty good, pistons are a little bit cheaper than 4 strokes. Costs are at least equal and old 2 strokes are always rebuildable while the cost of rebuilding old 4 strokes amounts to more than bikes worth. Anyways, soon there will be wide range of electric dirt bikes available which will need almost zero maitenance and well be trying to convince ourselves all the additional costs of owning gas bikes are worth it
