i JUST got my Pixel on the day the 9 series guy announced lol. it's my first pixel or even mainstream phone and I'm liking it so far. I'll probably wait until the 10 at the earliest before i think about upgrading again
I prefer the Pixel 8 Pro over the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The software is so good and the way Android works is so much easier than iOS. The processor is great and 95% of people will never use it to full capacity so its not a concern. It feels so much smoother than the iPhone.
The one thing most reviewers forget to mention is the reliability of the point and shoot capabilities of a phone. The biggest killer feature of the Pixel phones. I'm one of those people who buy several flagships every year, but always end up back with the Pixel for its reliable camera. Having kids and pets, no other phone will reliably get me those pics I want every single time, no matter the lighting conditions.
If you think that the tensor G3 is the one holding it back (which I agree) why would anyone wait for Pixel 9 ? It will be equipped with the almost same chip.
With black Friday discounts & trade in price for my pixel 7, I got an 8 pro for like £285. And got £15 Google store credit. No brainer. Virtually same phone as 9 pro.
Something pretty overlooked that I really like about the pixel phones are their animations and haptics. They’re pretty creative and fun and adds so much to the user experience.
I am a less than average user in that I don’t care about the cameras or gaming at all but rather my focus is on high quality bluetooth audio streaming. This Pixel is one of the few options that covers all the top bluetooth audio streaming codecs. This phone has provided the best sound for the custom audio set up in my commute vehicle in the 7 years that I have been streaming into it. I will keep this pixel until it breaks.
I've owned a few Pixels and Nexus phones. The 6P is still my favorite. The camera and build quality were years ahead of the competition. Unfortunately the battery was a nightmare.
Its interesting to see how the tech youtuber psyche eveolved throughout the years to favor and push narrative of short life span for phones, like why the heck would someone with a 1 years old phone upgrade to the next refresh ??

Had my Pixel 8 Pro for about 9 months now. Straight up the best phone I've ever used (given how I've only ever used low-end budget phones all my life). It's snappy, it does exactly what I need it to do, and I probably won't be replacing it for another 4 years minimum.
The SOC is what's keeping me from buying a Pixel phone. Otherwise I like what Google is doing, and the design of the phones. I just can't bring myself to pay for a sub par performance and battery life. I hope they manage to catch up a bit before it's time for me to buy a new phone. PS: I love these after the hype talks. So important to see what a phone brings, after all the promises made at launch. Thank you for providing them when you can.
Upgrade from Tensor G3 to G4 is barely an upgrade at all. With G3 you get Snap 888+ level of performance, which is quite enough, even though it's not at all a gaming phone. The cameras are great too: all of them have autofocus, main one is 1/1.31" which is surprisingly big and you also get a great 120mm telephoto, as well as a okay-ish ultrawide. All of that for 550+ usd rn.
Agreed, I have owned every Pixel. But the 8 really showed me they're not serious about making competitive hardware. It's a software first scenario, and everyone else has caught up at this point. Tensor and other hardware lacks, and the unique software lead they had has diminished over the years. We will see if they really put up or shut up on the Pixel 10 next year.
I want to want a pixel, I love the google camera system and I want to break out of the apple ecosystem. But for me One UI is just better as an operating system, more customisability, more of what I want. Battery life is just ok, and it's slow, compared to snapdragon.
I think the Pixel 8 pro by all standards is a great phone but the problem is when you start the comparisons. For 70 or more percent of average phone users, it works
I like the 8 pro much more than the 9 pro. It just looks and feels better imo. The side of the 9 pro is similar to the iphones and bit of the slab that doesn't feel good to hold. The edges dig into your hands and doesn't feel comfortable like the 8 pro. Also the 8 pro looks a like nicer. The 9 pro chrome sides and glossy finish makes it look out dated and tacky. Some may like that look, but the blue 8 pro is the winner for me.

I've had the 8 Pro since December and I have loved it. I do think that 128GB base storage for a "Pro" phone is unreasonable, especially when I got through half of it in 3 months from video and photos alone. Basing a phone's SoC purely on benchmarking is rather dismissive seeing that nobody is really pushing their phone's performance 24/7. Plus it omits the day-to-day usage where it spends many hours doing nothing besides calls, texts, TH-cam and social media. I have had mine record, edit and render 4K video via PowerDirector and other than slight heat, there were no issues with it. A Pixel isn't trying to be a powerhouse like Apple, Samsung or Xiaomi. It endeavours to be good at what its made for. Google made a big deal about Video Boost, but by default it is turned off and I have forgotten it even exists. @@damnbrainlets7721 I mean it's really good. But it isn't as "magically good" as people say pixels are. But better than my previous phone, an S21+. It's basically neck on neck with other newer flagships.
It's an excellent phone. If you don't play heavy games like Genshin Impact, this phone is perfect. The only flaw for me is that it's too big. I wish there was a smaller version of the same phone.
I really have liked my time with the pixel and currently own the 8 pro. I don't know how much longer I'm gonna stay with it though, Im just getting to the point where I want something new.
I think it'd be a lot more useful if this phone was compared to other phones at it's permanently discounted price (~$700) than at its MSRP, especially since this is an "after the buzz" video.
This "After the Buzz" series is good, keep them coming. However, I do disagree a little with the assessment. Pixel phones, including the Pro, are still cheaper than other flagships; the price often drops which makes them even cheaper. Pixels are usually a better value, their performance is great in everyday life regardless of benchmarks, and my experience so far has been even better than when I was using a Samsung flagship. Sure, the display could be better, but it is still good. I always get compliments on pictures and videos I take. Even data transfer over Quick Share is surprisingly good, and fast. Even at full retail price Pixels are cheaper than the competition and arguably they are the better buy; greater value.
Remember, just because Google doesn't call the Pixel a Project doesn't mean it isn't. Data gathering is what Google is all about not top of line specs. Pixel is an experimental project to Google that can end at anytime so buy it (OR NOT) for what it is not for what Google promises.
I'd love to own a Pixel. My problem is the forced Google Searchbar that you can't remove from the home screen. To me, that is a dealbreaker and until they give you the option to remove it, I will never buy this phone.
And that stupid at a glance widget. I thought one of the big selling points of android was its customisability, but obviously not if you buy a Pixel. I don't want to be messing about with launchers in this day and age
@@shyamal903 You don't get it. I don't WANT to have to use a third party launcher. The Pixel's native launcher is precisely what I like about it. If I use a third party launcher, it completely loses its unique style. I'm not looking to compromise here.
Enhance zoom is on my p8p since the June update. People are going crazy on TH-cam... enhance zoom is just a simple feature that lets you zoom into your pictures more after taking them.just take pictures using your 50 mega pixel camera on the pro settings and you be able to enhance zoom in these pictures ..
This is kinda ridiculous... what makes it a flagship? my phone is so fast, smooth, has no issues whatsoever, like what more do you want from a phone? it easily compares to other flagship phones, as fast, as durable, i just dont get it, other than being a scam to buy and waste more $$$ on useless scores. You DONT need to wait for the 9 Pro, you can literally get the 8 Pro or even the 7 Pro, and it does the exact same thing, my god, stop letting these people tell you to waste money.
High hopes for the Pixel 9 series, I’m a fan!! Just be objective, the sample footage from the video was horrible shaky with the crappy lens flare the iPhone has. But pure android from Google, sign me up.
@@winstonhorn9683 I get what you're saying and I didn't bother to watch his part in the video. I was going strictly off of my own experience. I've had the pixel 8 Pro since it became available. I had the pixel 7 Pro before that and in my experience I haven't had those issues. It might be because since day one I've run beta software. I have no idea but I personally didn't deal with that. My biggest issue has been with service which the new Samsung modem is supposed to fix so I'm really looking forward to that. But as far as like usability smoothness even gaming, I haven't really had any issues or anything that I would consider unplayable and I'm a pretty anal you know power user I've either. Just had really good luck on the beta software with just a few hiccups here and there or I just got a better bend model. I'm not sure but I can honestly say that as far as the issue list goes mine has been extremely minimal
I don't know if these reviewers ever really use the phones, but they say a lot of shit that's wrong. I was at the beach today with my friend, I could barely see anything on my 8 pro , while she showed me videos on her iphone 15 and the screen was bright and clear. Pixels advertise high peak brightness, but that lasts a minute, then they overheat and throttle everything, including dimming the screen. Even at home peak brightness barely lasts. I had a OP12 for a few days, and that screen was bright and staid bright for a long time, too bad it got the green line and i decided to return it, instead of replace it.
I Live in Florida Brightness Capital of the World, Sunshine State after all. This is the ONLY Phone I've used in the This State where I can actually see the screen in direct Sunlight. I work outside and cover the whole state this is a Daily Use Case. Sounds like you either have no idea how to use your phone, you're lying or you somehow got a Defective Model. Which I've heard nothing about sooo I guess.."Cool Story Bro"
Surprised by the comment to wait for the Pixel 9 pro. I could get a Pixel 8 pro for £400 or the smaller 9 Pro for £750? The Processors are a minimal improvement on paper and the Ai is still just bad. I’m looking for just a well made smartphone with a responsive screen to replace an old 60hz Android phone.
question for you--there is a Blocking spam phone calls...... the question is once I block the number--do I have to keep that entry or can I delete it? Thanks
Least efficient and worst performing at the price bracket. Phones from 3 years ago beat it and the pixel still can't run local LLM s. The iPhone 12 can run local llm s. The only reason I like the pixels is the unlockable bootloader because that was the spirit of open source 😢
Unless you buy one from Verizon here in the States then you'll have a locked bootloader. Samsung phones not from the US and Canada have unlocked bootloaders.
@@DavidNgo86 that's not true my friend. Who told you these lies? Canada has banned carrier locking since 2017. And buying from Google store let's you buy unlocked
@@DavidNgo86 sim locking(carrier locking) and bootloader are not the same thing. Also Samsungs are not carrier locked. I think you are confusing the two
I'd disagree that stabilization was really bad slight warping and macro judders along every step I love my pixel 8 for photoz but even the z fold 6 is way better when I'm biking for videos The tensor is the reason I left my pixel 8 as the drain and heating
I had the Pixel 8 Pro and I got rid of it after a month of havin it cos I didn’t like that face unlock didn’t work at night and the battery performance wasn’t as good as I would of liked so I switched back 2 iPhone 15 and if your goin 2 charge iPhone prices for a Pixel then I want iPhone performance
The entire discussion about the processor needs to quit these days. What the average user cares about is whether it calls, texts, battery, camera etc. Yes the processor and efficiency directly attribute to the efficiency...but the average person doesn't care about the raw CPU power of their phone. Design wise Google have the best looking devices in my opinion. Still love my Pixel 6 Pro to this day. Though it is true that the modem was a weak point of the device.
Some might disagree with you bud , you pay over a thousand bucks for a device , you should not be experiencing processing delays or even occasional stutter in 2024 , especially when there are other brands offering better hardware. Don't get me wrong, most of the time, the pixel 8 series runs very well , but there is definitely room for improvement. In general I think the pixels are a vast improvement, but hopefully we will see that continue in the upcoming model.
No, you’re just dead wrong… A premium device should at least be on par with the competition & the competition curb stomps this device in every category… I get you’re a light user but that’s a ridiculous take when you’re paying top dollar…
@@mikldude9376 I have the Pixel 6 Pro and don't experience processor delays with it to this day. 99% of users simply don't fall into the category of a "power user" even when they're buying a pro model device. Even when a device comes with a Qualcomm processor, you won't ever get to use the full potential of it. I genuinely don't understand what people do with their device to see it stutter.
I want to switch from iphone 13 to pixel 9 pro, not sure what size to get? Regular pro or XL? Also, can you guys tell me if google pixel has camera shutter lag? Initially I wanted to buy samsung but omg, I tested it and every moving person was blurry in the photo taken, even my Iphone does better job.
Well bud , as someone that does own both platforms, and I have owned 8 android devices , I think you are wrong about apple devices , they make very nice hardware and IOS is actually a good operating system. I have a galaxy note and a pixel 8 pro , but my carry around these days is a 14 pro max , apple gets a lot of things right , of course like all phones there is always room for improvement, but they are good phones overall .
I've got someone near me selling one for $375. At that price it seems like a good deal, I think. Seems in good condition. Anyone have thoughts? Otherwise, looking for new phone for less than 450.
I bought and sold the Pixel 8 Pro, then bought and returned it 3 more times. The signal strength and battery have definitely gotten better with updates. What HASN'T improved is the weird delay Pixel Phones have with notifications like Gmail. I can set it next to an S24 Ultra and iPhone and send myself an email and watch it come in instantly on the Galaxy and iPhone and not for several minutes on the Pixel. This culminates in a bad smartphone experience, especially when you pick up your phone and get FLOODED with notifications from the last hour that it never notified you about. This is with adaptive connectivity and adaptive battery off. Even if I disable doze with ADB there are delays. I haven't experience it to this extent on any other Android phone (other than Chinese phones) and this is a total dealbreaker for me. I really want to like the Pixel and I can overlook the subpar hardware, but they aren't even getting the software right. Also, WHERE IS ZOOM ENHANCE, Google?
Mine has turned into a hand Oven with time. I left pixel after the 2XL and I hate myself for coming back. No I'm not an IPhone Fan Boy, I've never owned one. Oneplus 7 Pro was my last device for many years. I'm really starting to miss What Nexus use to be.

It's an excellent phone. If you don't play heavy games like Genshin Impact, this phone is perfect. The only flaw for me is that it's too big. I wish there was a smaller version of the same phone.
How about ml and cod
Team Pixel !!!
I really have liked my time with the pixel and currently own the 8 pro. I don't know how much longer I'm gonna stay with it though, Im just getting to the point where I want something new.
I'm between pixel 8 pro or the rarz 2024 wich you think is the best.
I think it'd be a lot more useful if this phone was compared to other phones at it's permanently discounted price (~$700) than at its MSRP, especially since this is an "after the buzz" video.
I usually get phones when they have a new version released. Pixel 8 pro can be found now for 600$ now, which is what I will pay for it.
I don't think it's a bad device if you don't have the pixel slow down.
Honestly, the thing I'm most excited for with the P9 is the upgraded fingerprint sensor. The one on the 8 is such a pain coming from a Galaxy S21
Do you think that the jump from S21+ to P9P (or P8P) is justified or the differences are barely noticeable?
@@bebbo203 big differences. The pixel 9 phones are some of the best phones out there right now.
you're right about that visor being sharp. i had my phone on my bed and i kind of threw myself on the bed and ended up cutting my elbow on it smh
I only regret getting the Pixel 8 Pro because the Pixel 9 XL is such a beautiful design
Picked up an unopened PIxel 8 pro for 375£. Fantastic phone for that money. Pixels are great in the second hand market.
Where did you get it from? eBay ?
@@bengoeyfrom a UK based Cash Generator store.
Its a great phone a year later due to its discounted price. Otherwise its SoC is actually its biggest downside
The price need to go down because it is a mid range proc
Phone is flawless, all this focus on the chip is nonsense. It gets the job done.
Don't have either on my home screen no idea what y'all are on about
Just use a third party launcher.
@@shyamal903 You don't get it. I don't WANT to have to use a third party launcher. The Pixel's native launcher is precisely what I like about it. If I use a third party launcher, it completely loses its unique style. I'm not looking to compromise here.
Hey, can you do a video about the Surface Pro X (the first one with SQ1) now that Windows on ARM had some updates? Is it now usable?
You forgot to mention false advertising about super res zoom that never made it to the phone. 😂
@@MrKems252Oh snap I guess I spoke too soon. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the tip
Pixel 8 pro had the best colors.
Can be picked up brand new for less than £440 here in the UK just now
This is kinda ridiculous... what makes it a flagship? my phone is so fast, smooth, has no issues whatsoever, like what more do you want from a phone? it easily compares to other flagship phones, as fast, as durable, i just dont get it, other than being a scam to buy and waste more $$$ on useless scores. You DONT need to wait for the 9 Pro, you can literally get the 8 Pro or even the 7 Pro, and it does the exact same thing, my god, stop letting these people tell you to waste money.
Trade in value made my decision to switch. Only paying $100 bucks out of pocket for the new p9pxl #teampixel
Why do people say I don't care about benchmarks and then mention them anyway. My Piixel 8 is smoother than my S24 Ultra.
You definitely capping
With all due respect, if you are complaining about the weight balance of a phone you are being way too picky.
You’re losing credibility when you say the video stabilization is good….. the footstep shakes are atrocious……
It's not like that sample in real life, not sure what happened with that particular sample.
I don't believe so
I don't have that issue
Watching on my P8P. Looking forward to the P9Psmall. And coverage
@@pagadqs pretty sure the screen wasn’t so bright because of the heat. What where you doing in that situation? Used the phone a lot?
I Live in Florida Brightness Capital of the World, Sunshine State after all. This is the ONLY Phone I've used in the This State where I can actually see the screen in direct Sunlight. I work outside and cover the whole state this is a Daily Use Case. Sounds like you either have no idea how to use your phone, you're lying or you somehow got a Defective Model. Which I've heard nothing about sooo I guess.."Cool Story Bro"
It’s garbage because of that chip,
Unless you are a light user,
Don’t buy it
I would still buy a Pixel over Samsung because of the software, it’s real Android now Samsung’s junk version of Android.
I could get a Galaxy S24 but they look really ugly.
question for you--there is a Blocking spam phone calls...... the question is once I block the number--do I have to keep that entry or can I delete it?

I love my pixel 8 for photoz but even the z fold 6 is way better when I'm biking for videos
The tensor is the reason I left my pixel 8 as the drain and heating
i hope they worked on video quality & stabilization on the upcoming 9 line up, because on the 8 is really mid
Nothing about pixel is unique. Everything is shared with every phone
Google makes android, why wouldn't they want to share their features with devices running their software?
Uhm, didn't Google commission a custom chip set for it?
@@edrosales1520I wish they didn't. Or commissioned it to someone else.
Nothing unique, yet has the best and unique camera on a smart phone. Did you think properly before making that comment
@@genesisyt9662 What's unique about the camera? And it's definitely not the best. Cameras in chinese brands like Vivo or Huawei are on another level.
Hope you consider doing this for the S22 Ultra
I really really dislike the power buttons position.
This, I change phones a fair bit, button placement is getting on my nerves 😅
Think I may go back to the pixel 8 pro or either the smaller 9 pro and trade my s24+ in
Don't do it
Pixel 8 pro at $650, or Samsung s24+ at $850?
you can remove the at a glance by turning it off. No idea how tech reviewers don't know this😢
But you can't use the space it covers to put other widgets. In the end you're limited to only turning it on and off
The entire discussion about the processor needs to quit these days.
Processor sucks

@@mikldude9376 I have the Pixel 6 Pro and don't experience processor delays with it to this day. 99% of users simply don't fall into the category of a "power user" even when they're buying a pro model device. Even when a device comes with a Qualcomm processor, you won't ever get to use the full potential of it.
I genuinely don't understand what people do with their device to see it stutter.
The real advantage of the Pixel series is that it runs GrapheneOS.
Using pixel 8 pro here in the philippines.
Is it going good with battery life and casual or lite gaming? And what about battery timing?
I want to switch from iphone 13 to pixel 9 pro, not sure what size to get? Regular pro or XL? Also, can you guys tell me if google pixel has camera shutter lag? Initially I wanted to buy samsung but omg, I tested it and every moving person was blurry in the photo taken, even my Iphone does better job.
Get the pro, the XL is bigger than the 8 pro and for me it's a little too tall to swipe with one hand

Otherwise, looking for new phone for less than 450.
Nice!
I treated myself to Pixel 8 Pro, the phone calls are no better than a burner phone.
Also, WHERE IS ZOOM ENHANCE, Google?
they should just change to snapdrgon chips and you got the best phone of all time...
No Pixel for me until they're on TMSC
TMSC? The creators of the chips with a HUGE Security Flaw that everyone is pushing updates for ASAP alright buddy
