You mentioned warranty denial. But like you said if I put a Cobb AP on my car and the hood clasp malfunctions, the warranty still covers that clasp. Just wish you talked about what part of the warranty is effected by the "upgrade." PS: you should get a VB. That FA24 is fantastic and the shifts are so much better than the VA.
I have my vb, everything has been okay so far, except that you cannot lock the vehicle with it running with the keys outside. Performance wise, It's going to stay stock. Short version, I make enough money to play with it but 8-10 k for a power train replacement, and without a reputable company doing Performace motor and transmission pre-builds I'll just sit and wait. Keep an eye out though, there have been some issues with excessive gasket liner in the oil system/oil pick-up.
Yes. I was curious about modifying the exhaust system. I love the look of the burnt tips and the sound of a low rumble. Now after this video I’m going to call the dealer and speak with someone in service to be at peace about it. Thanks for the video.
They overbuilt the engine and put a “Track mode” on it, so they presumably know people are going to tune it, track it, etc. so it’s almost like misleading people because Subie of America told me that taking it to the track COULD cause a warranty claim for engine/related.
I just want to put this engine in my 2003 STI (Yes, built from a JDM 2003 STI). Seems like it has great potential. Also, my brother just bought a 2002 WRX. You can get them for a great price compared to almost any other sports car available right now.
I currently have a 2022 Premium WRX all I have done is wheels , axle back exhaust system, grim speed high air flow filter which just replaces your factory air filter, and I am going to have a oil air separator installed, and I have changed the factory yellow caps in the engine for aftermarket ones
It's still not "voiding your warranty". That's terrible language. You can be denied 3 different otherwise covered jobs if they can reasonably prove the mod caused the damage, but say later a strut breaks... if you haven't messed with the suspension or wheels then they will have to replace the broken strut under warranty. The warranty itself is never voided. On the JB4 topic I'd avoid those, last I checked they don't even monitor the knock sensors. That's a dangerous place to operate with engine tuning blind to real time sensor data.
I did put an axle-back exhaust on my '22- it HAD to be done and I really don't think it will be a problem with an unrelated warranty claim someday. Other than that I think I'll just make subtle improvements to the car and wait till the warranty is over - then maybe I'll try a COBB tuner once enough time has gone by for me to be reasonably sure it's safe on these new VB cars.
@@AutoEnthusiast I talked to my service manager at the Subaru dealership and she said I couldn’t do any exhaust work while under warranty. What would you do in that situation?
I don't support or like piggy back ECUs but the JB4 doesn't flash or tag the factory ECU. The factory ECU honestly doesn't know anything and the JB4 tricks it. So before making a video concerning some matters I would get them right first. Honestly I wish MoTec would fix their inventory issue and make an ECU swap for the 2022+. Cobb reflash is the next best thing but we don't have flexfuel A and B tables yet, Cobb may never give us these tables so flexfuel options maybe only for MoTec or JB4. Don't run flexfuel without a damn sensor guys! Tuners are doing it! They give you multiple maps hoping you mix it right and the endgame will cost you an engine if you make an error. And about Warranty, well it depends on the owner of the dealership franchise. Large dealership corporate brands will void warranty on any modification but some small family owned locations tend to be more forgiving. I would honestly build a relationship with your dealership of choice before upgrades. I for one work for 130+ locations from Kia to Maserati in multiple states, so from my direct experience I would take my advice.
so if i changed the headers to say unequal length headers on my 22 wrx and idc what yall say about putting unequal length headers on my car, im paying for it, u are not, but after market headers voids the entire engine warranty just like the j-pipe would?
That’s a dumb thing to say, uel headers can cause your head gaskets to blow, ringlands to fail, but more importantly you block to crack. Keep extra money for repairs since you “don’t care what other people say”. Also why would you want less performance?
I have a 2022 Subaru WRX and I’m just curious as things are starting to release for this platform but I’m curious as to how an aos would affect warranty if it would at all
Dude, have you ever had a WRX? Anything aftermarket that modifies the OEM oiling system voids your warranty or any other system on your car. Common sense. I asked multiple services managers and SOA. Cat back and anything that doesn't require tune are the only things that will keep your warranty valid. I've had denied claims. Subaru reserves the right to deny any claim if they see fit. They have deeper pockets than you. You won't win. Trust me. I've been the canary in the coal mine for my Subaru group on my VA.
@@kellz1703 if that’s the case you’ll eventually use the warranty but around the 5-7 year mark so with that said, might as well start voiding the warranty now and have some fun😅
