It seems to be an issue when using Ascorbic Acid formulations; I am getting so many comments about it. And I am not entirely sure if it is the formulation of the Ascorbic Acid serums/creams that matters or if it is because of the sunscreen that people use. Since I also think that some brands are very dubious and may not give the desired protection or the protection mentioned on the packaging, the Vitamin C gets influenced so that it may lead to other issues when exposed to direct sunlight. Therefore I suggest being careful when doing so or using a "trusted" brand if you can.

Thank you for this video! It was super helpful, I wanted to ask where in my routine would I add the vitamin C. I use the ordinary Niacinamide and hylaronic acid every night and day. But I don’t know if I could include vitamin C into the routine, and how. I hope you can help me out!
Do you use the Vitamin C shown in the video? If so, you should not use it with The Ordinary Niacinamide since they conflict. You could use this in the morning or evening instead of Niacinamide after Hyaluronic Acid.

for morning, i use the cerave sa cleanser then the am facial lotion with spf.. and as for night, i use the hydrating cleanser from cerave, resurfing retinol serum (cerave), and the pm facial lotion.

Very informative indeed. I use the Aveeno foaming cleanser( with salicylic acid) and the Cerave vitamin C serum. Are those 2 safe to use together? Also, I just bought the ordinary Niacinamide 10% because I heard it does wonder. When should I apply it, should I mix it with both of those 2 products listed above or use Niacinamide separately (PM) and the others in the AM?
Yes, the Aveeno foaming cleanser can be used before Cerave vitamin C serum.
With Niacinamide, it is a bit controversial. But since you are using CeraVe vitamin C serum, which contains Ascorbic Acid (pure vitamin c), it's best not to use them at the same time since, according to The Ordinary, they can react. It's unknown if this has any negative aspects to both, but you potentially lose the benefits. So use one in the morning and the other in the evening.

Hey, kindly suggest me that when should I use CeraVe vitamin C serum and when should I use Ordinary Alpha arbutin? I’m confused… And is it compulsory to use moisturiser after using Vitamin C serum?
You can use both in the same routine, either in the AM or PM, or one in the morning and the other in the evening. And no, a moisturizer is optional.
hii!! im putting together this cerave routine and i have oily acne prone skin. first i cleanse with cerave foaming facial cleanser. then i use the vitamin c serum. after, i use the ultra light sunscreen moisturizer.
at night i wash my face with the same cleanser, then i use the resurfacing retinol serum and moisturize with the pm moisturizer. do you think it will be a good routine for my skin type? thank you for the very informative video by the way!
The routine looks good. But the vitamin c "serum" is a bit heavy. So, in my opinion, it isn't an excellent option for oily skin. However, if you do not feel that way, there is no need to change it. Good luck with the routine; I hope it will improve your concerns.
Make sure you use spf esp during the day since you use retinol. It makes your skin sensitive to sun

You can use it morning or evening as long as you follow with SPF during the daytime, it shouldn't be an issue. So test it and see when you like it most :)

I opened it the same day i bought it , and the color of this serum is not cloudy white as shown in many videos on TH-cam

Yeah, the main reason for this is often the storage conditions at the retailers. Vitamin C is very sensitive to light, heat, and air, which can cause it to change color and oxidize. They say if it's only a little discolored, it's not a concern and you can still use it. I'm not entirely sure about that, as you'd need to run tests to verify, which some companies claim to have done... 😉

Would it be okay to use this after applying The ordinary’s hyaluronic acid and buffet serum?
It's fine to use it after HA, however, do not use it with Buffet in the same routine. Buffet should not be used with Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) or Exfoliating Acids in the same routine.

@@Tannersaur I checked that one, and yes, you can use them together. Although it is labeled as an exfoliating toner, it is actually purely hydrating.

Does CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum can be use not just in the face and neck but also into your body? Like if your elbow is dark or dark inner thighs? Since it is for uneven skin tone.
Yes, that's fine! However, you may also just want to look into an AHA (Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid) product instead to loosen the dead skin cells, which then should help to reduce the darkness which usually appears in those areas :)

The order of application of your skincare routine looks good! 😊 What Azelaic Acid do you use? Also, you may not need to use a moisturizer in the AM, as BOJ Sunscreen is already quite hydrating 😊

Am I using panoxyl too much? When first started using was no issue, but now feeling slight irritated and breakouts forming. I also was prescribed clindamycin, but didnt help much and dont know where to add in routine if i should

I'm curious to know about your initial skincare routine. Was it just clindamycin? Did you add the other products yourself? Because I suspect that these additional products might be causing issues.
Essentially, cleansing your face with a mild foaming cleanser (like the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser) and then applying clindamycin once or twice daily should be effective. However, it can take some time to see the full effects, often several weeks.
How long have you been using it? But overall I would also suggest going back to a simpler routine.

Started breaking out after getting off BC and routine was similar minus the panoxyl and drmtlgy. Only used cerave foaming cleanser n PM and african black soap n AM and snail, T.O Arbutin both at night. Main concerns is post acne hyperpigmentation, which last very long on me and controlling acne flare-ups. Added back in vitamins c and mandelic within last month since I've used them before but wasn't sure if would help better together.
Dr suggested clindamycin this past month and am new to it. Was reading BP works better with it. My skin is veryyyy sensitive and have grown a tolerance to certain T.O products without it causing another flare up. I use Glycolic acid occasionally, but mandelic is more gentle. I used to use niacinamide but think that broke me out also. Drmtlgy acne serum has helped with spot treatment, but lately been using whole face.
I know your not supposed to mix BP with vitamin C/mandelic acid and so trying to have a routine with the ones most helpful and beneficial in helping address my concerns. Ty in advance
Okay. When getting off birth control (BC), the body needs time to get back in balance. I've had this issue too, and it took my body over a year to adjust again. In the beginning, I had massive acne flare-ups on my face, and even on my back and chest. However, over time, it has lessened and completely stopped on my back and chest.

However, since your doctor prescribed you Clindamycin, I recommend keeping it simple. You may be able to use your BP cleanser (if it's a 4% one) together with Clindamycin. However, if that's too potent, consider using a mild foaming cleanser instead.
AM:
Mild Foaming Cleanser or BP Cleanser
Alpha Arbutin
(Optional) Moisturizer suitable for your skin type
SPF (if exposed to the sun)
PM:
Mild Foaming Cleanser, and then you may be able to follow with your BP Cleanser
Clindamycin

@@Calizone26 You may have a chance with Alpha Arbutin or Niacinamide. However, the Retinol/Retinoid mentioned in the video also helps with that to some extent, as it stimulates the skin to increase the skin cell turnover. Over time, your hyperpigmentation becomes less. Still, keep in mind that the skin also tries to heal itself, which takes time.

I just bought this product, and tried it out today . I applied it under my eyes too and applied cerave eye cream over it and a moisturizer all over but i saw the skin around my eyes and under eye turn orange . 😩 Idk why ?????
Vitamin C serums can turn orange when they are exposed to air, heat, light, or changes in pH. This color change is a sign that the vitamin C has oxidized and is no longer effective.
When you apply a vitamin C serum to your skin, it can sometimes be absorbed quickly, leaving a thin layer on the surface of the skin. If you then apply a moisturizer on top, it can mix with the serum and create a higher pH environment, which can cause the vitamin C to oxidize more quickly, leading to the orange color change.
To prevent this from happening, you can try waiting a few minutes after applying your vitamin C serum to allow it to fully absorb into the skin before applying your moisturizer.
