    Third year of my paint journey. Started with my own vehicles in a tiny barn garage. Bought a house with a 47 foot long garage that was previously an appliance repair business. Perfect for my part-time seven days a week sideline. Love the work and still reading and watching videos like yours every evening to see if I can pick up more tips. Mostly trying to be more efficient now as the once confusing basics have become routine with practice. Most important thing is to get out there, put in the work, if you screw up, remember the lesson, try not to repeat it, fix your error and don't give up. 👍

    This came out just in time! I'm just getting ready for painting my 2nd entire car, a Škoda Octavia Mk1.
    My first full-car paint job was a Golf Mk4, and thanks to some good advice from Paint Society's videos and Brian in the comment section I had the courge to do it in my garage! Came out great, but this series thought me some more, and I'm hoping the next one will be close to perfection!
    Big Up from Romania ! 🇷🇴🖖🏼😉🥳👍🏼🇺🇸🌎

    Been watching your videos for the last year to prep for 1st paint job on my project Blazer. Was searching for info that broke down the steps exactly like this 4 part series. Had a few questions on sanding and primers and this was perfect. There's so many videos out there that only go thru parts of the whole process but this is by far the best I've seen. Thanks for your time, effort and clear descriptions. These have to take a lot of time to produce and It is much appreciated.

    Hi Brian, I watch a lot of your informative videos and enjoy the tips and advise. I am prepping and painting a Honda Civic at the moment and just wanted to share with you and your veiwers about the dry guide coat. I have been using black chalk and a polishing pad to apply for years on projects with great results. The chalk is used for snap lines but I tried it years ago when sanding and leveling wood projects and now I am having success using it for filler and primer guide coats as it seems to work very well and for about a tenth of the cost.
    Anyways, thanks for all of the videos and tips.

    Thank you for always giving us details guides Bro. Your hard work and guidance is really appreciated.
    I am currently in the process of doing a resto-mod (and colour change) on my wife's Honda EK. I always fall back to your videos for guidance in the event that I get lost haha. This will be my first attempt at a full body respray, and a colour change no less. First sorted the rust repair work, got the dents sorted and layed on primer on the one side (I am laying primer on the entire car eventually) so this video came at the right time. ❤️
    Keep up the great work!
    Excited for the guide on the sealer as that will be next for me after I finish all the Primer work and sanding.

Solvents attacked my feather edges made them too soft top coats revealed. So i am with you water to check or what about WB W&G remover to check way less aggressive.? or just use the gloss from the HB primer to check?

    Interesting to see you guys working together on sanding down the primer. Not alot of painter likes to have few guys doing the bodywork together since every painter has their own technique of doing things. I hope everyone will learn from this and make a standard of doing it so with little help from someone which makes the job faster rather than doing it alone by sanding down the primer for the whole car. I learn one thing from this video, if there is no bodywork in the panel, its not required to hand blocking and just use DA machine. Really speed up things. I usually paint quite old vehicle and usually primer the whole car. But some panels still looking good without any dent. Not necessarily required primer, But thats what's the workplace required, they wan it to prime the whole vehicle then hand block it to get as straight as possible.

    I sprayed primer surfacer on my repair areas only, as I have to leave my car outside under the elements. The rest of the car still has some flaking clearcoat around the repair areas. Will this become a problem if I plan to sand down the clear coat for primer in the future even if it means having to reapply primer again on the repairs areas?

    I’ve been painting cars in my backyard for 6 months now and been experimenting with lots of products and techniques and was wondering what your experience was with using a clear sealer? Been using it lately and I’ve noticed I can spray flakes, metallics, and pigments over a 320 scratch with a single medium wet coat. And has great adhesion on plastics and chrome but requires more paint coats as the sealer is recommended only light coats of base. Is it better more light coats of paint and skipping more sanding and saving time or just sand to the final grit for the required material? I’m curious on your thoughts since time is money in this trade

    • @PaintSociety
      @PaintSociety  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any base over a p320 is never a good idea. You should use regular sealer over p320 or sand it up to at least p600 then use clear base

    • @MAn-ti3ul
      @MAn-ti3ul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's all about the quality of the basecoat. Any paint system that needs a sealer first has a thin basecoat (dupont was famous for this). It's all about making $ for the paint company. The more stuff they can sell you, the more they make. I paint over 320 all day for years no issue. I do agree that a finer grit paper is required for fine metallics like silver.

    • @Jose-mv1bd
      @Jose-mv1bd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PaintSociety yea that’s what I have done but I’ve been messing around and seeing what works and doesn’t, not on customers cars but mostly on parts and some flips. It’s not a clear base type of sealer it’s extremely thick almost like a clear primer that sprays unreduced. It has properties of an adhesion promoter that’s why I bought it but then noticed you could use it as a clear sealer but definitely not an intercoat. I do have to give you a huge thanks to switching me over to the kgrit pads by Eagle abrasives, huge game changer even with the prices. Thank you for your guidance and videos, often find myself watching you whoever I run into problems🙏

    • @Jose-mv1bd
      @Jose-mv1bd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MAn-ti3ul I’ve never used DuPont but I’m guessing it’s like the dynacoat brand a shop sells near me. It’s 2/1 and has terrible coverage. I’ve tried shopline and Omni and have had great results using less paint. The higher end Omni doesn’t justify the price for me but I give it as an option for those that like knowing they are getting the best. I usually get the mid grade Omni for all my projects.
