I appreciate everything you show, i was never fortunate enough to go to trade school. I started as a sign painter years when I was 20 and had someone to ask me to paint a car at work for them, one thing led to another. I’m 25, I now own a small auto paint and body shop I still to this day learn new techniques and tips from your content. You’ve definitely gave me the confidence to get out my shell and try new things to be successful! Thank you Brian!

Car painting has advanced so much from when I learned from my Dad - He was an auto body wizard for over 40 years - did it all - from minor wrecks to complete restoration - including refinishing. Watching you brings back memories of hanging out with him at his body shop, and watching him work. Your knowledge, attention to detail, and techniques is the best I've seen since. Great work , man!!

After watching countless videos of you painting, I decided to take on the task of painting my 1989 jeep wrangler. Im doing a 4 stage paint with metallic base with candy apple red and metallic clear coat. Ive made some mistakes, actually a lot. But I try to take it in stride and remember not to overthink it....its just paint

I'm pretty much going to reiterate previous comments but I feel like I need to say something. I have watched countless videos particularly looking for application tips and processes. I watched your video for the first time and I feel like I have learned more watching your video than the rest I have watched combined. You apply concepts that I haven't seen in other videos. There is more than one way to skin a cat but your process ensures nearly perfect results. I love your confidence and your concise instruction without all the blabber. I actually felt good hitting the subscribe button which I rarely do. Awesome job Brian, would love to shake your hand some time and say thanks.

That’s awesome Javier. Sometimes it’s hard to explain why you need to blend the next panel. We always explain that trying to touch up paint in the middle of your wall in your house is going to show. Same concept.

I have extra respect for really good auto body men and esp the painters. Because it is a whole different skill than doing the mechanical work, and certainly no easier to do well! So much of it relies on experience, technique, intuition and knowledge, even more so than changing a clutch or pulling an engine. Auto body and paint is practically an art form and I understand why they have to charge as much as they charge!

Great job panting this lexus I had trouble spraying this color before. Sikkens sure has alot of fun things that can help you with colors n blending but any paint manufacturer can do the same results.

Thank God we have you to help us here 😊 Can you tell me the mix ratio’s of each blend after coating base colour on door plus how many coats please 🙏 It’s little vague on the mixes

Just when I blend the front pass door I aim base to the back cover only 20%
2nd coat aim gun straight covering 30% of that front passenger door
3rd coat aim base gun slightly father away control coat aim gun to the front of the car
    Covering 40% of the door
Not sure if that makes sense to you guys but everyone has their way
When checking shut the lights off and use sun light gun or something close to it

Looked good. Bodyman for almost 20 years here. Wear your respirator when doing anything with filler...not just sanding. Wear it when mixing as well.
In every shop I've been at I am the only one I know that does this and I am also the only one I know that doesn't walk around coughing up phlegm all day long.
You guys that smoke AND don't wear your respirator I will never understand. One guy I worked with smoked while he sanded filler and I gave him grief over it and he said he smoked "filtered" cigarettes....

A+ teaching for sure. So on the overlap especially in 2nd coat of clear what do you recommend? Seems like very little overlap and really going over and over on the same section. I ask as I will painting this exact hue (Porsche GT Silver) and clear in the next 2 weeks.

Wow I’ve seen every color out there hundreds of times. I’ve never had to go through so much and waste so much time on one job. With ICI now Nexa. I giving away my age now or envirobase.

I'm a painter at a collision repair body shop. I started as a detailer and parts gatherer So most of my knowledge is just what I have learned over time from working there. I have never taped off my blend panel from sealer/color coverage. Am I wrong for that??
