Having a Healthy Breakup

  • The time before and after a breakup can be scary and heartbreaking, but Jackie offers a refreshing perspective here. She says if either you or your significant other wants to break up, there’s no point in wasting your time or their time because you deserve someone who wants to be with you, and so does he or she. After breaking up, there will be a gaping hole, so it’s important to set boundaries at that time so there can be proper closure in the relationship.
    Jackie also says it’s much more difficult to end a relationship if you were sleeping with the person. Of course, this should be avoided before marriage, but if your relationship did go down that wrong path it’s still no excuse to stay in the relationship. The bond may have seemed to mean a great deal to both of you, but it was premature and not God’s plan for either of you.
    If either of you want to break up, you weren’t right for each other and the person who broke up with you did you a favor by setting you free to discover what God has planned for you. If there is still pain in your heart after considering all this, run to Jesus because he will heal you.

    Oh man. This is exactly what I needed to hear today!! I’m going through a break up with the guy I thought I would marry. He ended up not being that great to me, lying and lots of other stuff.. including trying to pressure me into having sex because “we’ll be together forever anyway”. Major red flags, and as thankful as I am to be out, it still hurts really bad.

      Reba Germaine it will hurt for some time ...but you the decision about breaking with that guy is right and believe me , after some time ( can be few months) you will look back and say the same: it was right. I was once in your place , breaking up with my fiancé who I found out was not good to me either ( similar things you wrote about) and yes, it was hurting but now when I'm happily married to the right guy I know it was a right decision. Try to do something nice for yourself , go out with friends, do something you didn't have time to do it because you were in relationship and pray to Jesus. He loves you very much!

    I broke up with my fiancé. It wasn't healthy at all. Unfortunately I only came to realise the extent of it recently. There was a lot of misusing, but I still love him. I'm so grateful for this video. In fact I started the 54 Day Novena for us after watching one of your videos and I got my answer about him as I began the 2nd half (Thanksgiving). So I know this is the right choice. I'm fighting everything in body to reach out to him. Part of me even wants to send him this video so he can heal, or maybe just as an excuse to contact him. But this video was a God-send. I guess I should just sit back and let us both grow and heal. Please pray for him to find Christ, he has turned away from whatever faith he had and has gone down the darker path (turns out it was the only path he has truly known or understood). I just pray he is healed and his scars become healed again through Christ. One day he might come to know the love of God, unconditional and raw.

    I had a very bad break up last year... the relationship wasn't chast at all and I created a huge bond with the guy and it hurt a lot when we broke up. But because of how connected I felt with him (apparently I was the only one to feel that way, he was just fine a couple weeks later), I couldn't stop messaging him or asking him for advice or keeping in touch, I didn't know how to live by myself anymore, I couldn't let him go. It was very tough for me to deal with that and I wish I had stopped talking to him right away so that I could heal better. It took me a good time to be able to gather all the broken pieces of me together again and to be able to open up to a new relationship. Fortunately, God has good plans for us, and I've found someone who treats me with unconditional love and respect, as things should be.

    • @rifow1
      @rifow1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Talk to her about it, reset the boundaries of your relationship. You can’t be as close as you were as your relationship with each other has changed. It might be helpful to take some time away from each other completely, but then it might not be helpful. It is just with asking her and having that discussion. And make that discussion v practical, and set expectations of what your friendship would look like. Obviously each situation is different so take my advice with a grain of salt, but this was helpful for me. Good luck mate, I’ll be praying for you
