  • The #BMWX5 wasn't the first luxury crossover SUV to come to market nearly 25 years ago, but when it did debut, it become well known for its sporty driving dynamics and its ability to give driver enthusiasts a more practical daily driver. The latest #BMW #X5 has been around since 2019, and for 2024, the #X5xDrive40i may be the entry level model, but its has enough power and efficiency for most buyers and its updated style and technology gives it one of the best offerings in the midsize luxury SUV space.

    I have a 2024 X5 xDrive 40i "M Sport" and I really like it. Unfortunately, it's just a single turbo, (I think higher output versions have 2 turbos) but as you can see in the test drive, it still has more than enough "go" especially in sport (psycho) mode. There are a few things I don't care for, but overall it's a great vehicle. It DOES come with iDrive 8.5, not 8.0.

    You mentioned that adaptive dampers are only available on the M sport version. I believe this is incorrect. From BMW: “Confidence is limitless with standard features like Dynamic Damper Control across all models”. You can get “adaptive M suspension” with the m sport, which I think is the same as the adaptive damper system on the non-m-sport version, BUT with extra firmness in the top sport setting.

    Nice review. One thing I might disagree on...the lack of a digital rearview mirror. I had one in a rental Escalade, and hated it. Other traffic in the mirror was out of normal proportions. Maybe it was just a poor implementation, but it was bad enough that I would never buy a vehicle with a mirror like that. On the other hand, your comment on the adaptive cruise control is spot on. I bought a '22 M550i, and didn't realize I didn't have adaptive cruise until it was too late. Even my 2012 Charger, and 2012 Grand Cherokee came with is.

    • @jeffs6090
      @jeffs6090 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I love that feature! Every vehicle should come standard with digital rear mirrors, especially coupes and coupe suvs. Those are more difficult to see out of normally. Plus, a loaded cargo area or three people in the back will block your view. If you don't care for them, guess what, you can turn it off and never use it. Therefore, it's a rather dumb statement to say you'd never buy a car that has one.

    • @donwilber1628
      @donwilber1628 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jeffs6090 Well Jeff, I find your statement, indicating that you'd accept something that is a safety issue, as more than just dumb. I was pretty clear that it may have just been a bad implementation, and that should be a clue to you that I'm open to a better one, but maybe you missed that.

    • @jeffs6090
      @jeffs6090 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @donwilber1628 "...but it was bad enough that I would never buy a vehicle with a mirror like that." That, in no way, says that you would be open to a better one. Unless you have some sort of weird girl brain where you say one thing but mean something completely different because "they knew what they meant". What aspect is the safety issue for you? Because for me, it's a safety issue by not having one for when it's impossible to see out the back when there's people or gear blocking your view, or in a coupe suv that has poor visibility by design. Something, even if it's "a poor implementation", is better than not having it.

    • @donwilber1628

      @@jeffs6090 Clearly, reading is a challenge for you. You're the only person who's had an issue with it. And no, a poor implementation isn't better than not having it. Since you've already shown that reading comprehension is challenging for you, or maybe you're just a troll, and you're flat out insulting, I'm done wasting time with you.
