with Euro competitors, sure. Acura and Lexus (not to mention Infiniti and Genesis) max out well below where the optioned out models of BMW/MB/etc. land. Sure, they don't have perfect parity re: all the bells and whistles, but most people won't notice them or care anyway, and we still haven't gotten to overall reliability...
By all means, if one can [genuinely] afford it and wants everything they offer, rock on there's no denying they're sweet rides. That said, I'm in NYC and see AMGs/Ms/Rs/etc. all the time. They're either stuck in traffic like everyone else or putzing on the TP going 65-70 in the middle lane, so experience dictates performance wasn't a big factor even though it's pretty much the point (beyond cache/prestige) with those models.

I got most of the upgrades (driving, parking, executive, towing, climate, massage). The only one I really don’t recommend is the massage seats. They are somewhat tame, unless you are the passenger and you are leaning back and putting your weight on the seat. Also, the towing package removes your ability to get the kick to open hatch feature. I actually don’t miss it because whenever I was hooking up my trailer, I would keep getting bonked by the rear hatch. Lol.

I have a 2024 X5 xDrive 40i "M Sport" and I really like it. Unfortunately, it's just a single turbo, (I think higher output versions have 2 turbos) but as you can see in the test drive, it still has more than enough "go" especially in sport (psycho) mode. My mom has the pre-LCI refresh and I like it a lot more than this. More physical buttons, easier to use idrive, and cost about $7500 less for a similar spec. The front end also looks a little bigger/taller, I regularly mistake this LCI X5 with the current X3 from the front. Only downside is less hp/tq but it still feels very quick. From BMW: “Confidence is limitless with standard features like Dynamic Damper Control across all models”. Maybe it was just a poor implementation, but it was bad enough that I would never buy a vehicle with a mirror like that. On the other hand, your comment on the adaptive cruise control is spot on. I bought a '22 M550i, and didn't realize I didn't have adaptive cruise until it was too late. Even my 2012 Charger, and 2012 Grand Cherokee came with is.

I love that feature! Every vehicle should come standard with digital rear mirrors, especially coupes and coupe suvs. Those are more difficult to see out of normally. Plus, a loaded cargo area or three people in the back will block your view. If you don't care for them, guess what, you can turn it off and never use it. Therefore, it's a rather dumb statement to say you'd never buy a car that has one.

Unless you have some sort of weird girl brain where you say one thing but mean something completely different because "they knew what they meant". What aspect is the safety issue for you? Because for me, it's a safety issue by not having one for when it's impossible to see out the back when there's people or gear blocking your view, or in a coupe suv that has poor visibility by design. Something, even if it's "a poor implementation", is better than not having it.

The dealer was not BMW and wanted to get it off his lot (car is very very clean), so I got $7,000 more on my trade in than any other dealer of any German make offered. Trade value was $51k and my oop including all fees and taxes was $22k. MSRP on the BMW was $81k. Color is this somewhat unique gray. I do agree the X5 looks better than say, the Q7. Which is why I would get a Q8 instead. That would mean a whole lot more money. Porsche I could manage, but they are ridiculous when it comes to maintaining if you are not a do it yourselfer. OOP on a 2024 certified Q8 was $36k (might have been able to talk it down a bit) and for a certified Cayenne it would have been well over $40k if not $50k.

There is zero effort from BMW to integrate the screens into the dash. GM and Kia do a much better job of this. I am sorry, but at $80k everything about a vehicle needs to look designed.
