Nice review. One thing I might disagree on...the lack of a digital rearview mirror. I had one in a rental Escalade, and hated it. Other traffic in the mirror was out of normal proportions. Maybe it was just a poor implementation, but it was bad enough that I would never buy a vehicle with a mirror like that. On the other hand, your comment on the adaptive cruise control is spot on. I bought a '22 M550i, and didn't realize I didn't have adaptive cruise until it was too late. Even my 2012 Charger, and 2012 Grand Cherokee came with is.
I love that feature! Every vehicle should come standard with digital rear mirrors, especially coupes and coupe suvs. Those are more difficult to see out of normally. Plus, a loaded cargo area or three people in the back will block your view. If you don't care for them, guess what, you can turn it off and never use it. Therefore, it's a rather dumb statement to say you'd never buy a car that has one.
@@jeffs6090 Well Jeff, I find your statement, indicating that you'd accept something that is a safety issue, as more than just dumb. I was pretty clear that it may have just been a bad implementation, and that should be a clue to you that I'm open to a better one, but maybe you missed that.

It will be worth 30k in a year. BMWs depreciate so fast
Not unless they put 100k miles on it in a year…
Nice job Sofyan & I buy a new BMW X5 soon.
The split tailgate is a dealbreaker for me. I'm about your height and I have to jump up on the bottom portion to put something in the back or take something out. If this was such a useful feature with customers clamoring for it, more manufacturers would offer it. Just sayin'.
You can open only the top half of the tailgate. No need to open the lower half unless your loading long or heavy items. Also, handy as a bench when tailgating!
My 5'6" dad is about to get one of these X5s and the split tailgate honestly isn't an issue, I'm the same height as him rn (10th grader in highschool, going into 11th this September) but expected to grow another few inches, my mom is exactly 5 feet and has no issue with the split tailgate
Learned something new everyday. $80k value, how about that?
The 2019 to 2023 XDrive 40i was better built, even felt more refined. This one seems to have gone backwards.
Sensatec is NOT more durable than leather. Leather is the most durable product for car seats. Sensatec is vinyl. It sucks.
I still prefer my 2022 model. But I’m glad BMW hasn’t totally destroyed the X5 just yet lol
I had a 2022 , it was great , some add t boned it and was totaled . I now have the 2024 and it is really awesome
How is this excellent fuel economy even with a hybrid
Big SUV with 400hp.
I got 30 MPG average on the highway during a 3500 mile round trip at 75 mph. Not bad for a 5200 midsize SAV!
Still the best in the segment
Overpriced garbage 🗑️. Shear rubbish
for 80k new it’s not worth it !!! unless u wana certified
@@regmattthis drives the best in its class. Certified pre owned lease returns are the best bargains to buy. Those sell fast. Problem is they are sold to people on a list. Get on the list.
@@ryanb8736 long term junk. I wouldn't buy
Is this what you decided to buy?
Should not have any unpainted black plastic at 80k
M sport package eliminates most of that!
Agreed, but I don’t wanna pay for the M sport pkg which makes the front end look like a bulldog.
@@friedchickenguy Totally agree!
There is an abundance of room for groceries but hardly anything for rear passengers.
This is a great vehicle to drive that makes you feel good. HUD is amazing.
Taillights. As with 2024 and prior X3 models, taillights are ugly not complementing the nice clean body line. Taillight is a dealbreaker on new X5 and makes this vehicle looks 10 years or older model.
Ambient light looks fun but for more like people to have psychedelic drug party in the car. Almost too much.
Does anyone actually like the look of the stuck on screens instead of a real instrument cluster? I can’t stand what BMW is doing to their dash. An F- in my opinion.
Is the X5 still a money pit? Is it better to just lease & have a new car in 3 years?
Nah the new X5 is reliable if you get the 40i and it doesn't have air suspension, my parents have been skeptical about buying a German car for this same reason but they are getting a brand-new X5 with all the options later this year and I'm def looking forward to it
I have a 2024 50e and it has been to the dealership 11 times, all under warranty but it’s been a nightmare. Maybe the 40i is more reliable.
@@Cantdecide-no7wn yeah the 50e is a turd ngl, that’s why my dad is gonna get a 40i instead
Not the ugly stick 😂😂😂
So it's a hybrid that only musters 23 in town and 27 hiway? Pitiful effort.
No spare tire is a deal breaker
Spare tire is a $250 option and I highly recommend it
You’ve got run flats, so why waste the space?
@@friedchickenguy run flats give you a harsher ride and are more expensive to replace. Many run-flats cannot be repaired and often need to be replaced in pairs.
I’ve had run flats many times and never noticed a difference in ride quality other than the fact that they are super grippy. They are expensive for sure, but I’ve always been able to repair them as long as it’s in the tread.
@@friedchickenguy well my dad is getting a brand-new X5 himself in the near future and even though the run-flat tires will certainly be nice to have, the optional spare tire will be a great backup
FFS.... x5 for $80k.

These things depreciate like rocks. You can get nearly 50% off within three years and still have some bumper-to-bumper warranty remaining, which can be extended.
I was 1 and done with BMW. Went back to Lexus . . .
my $28k most basic trim MAZDA CX5 has adaptive cruise control as a standard feature. Shame on BMW
It it is like a sedan it is a station wagon and not an SUV. Another fail by lazy designers.

BMW design team doing too much. Over complicating the design. Just isn't an evolution at all!
X6>x5
Naveen, the Chinese have already made bmw irrelevant, you will see. Toyota and Honda will quickly have to ramp up EVs other China will take over all car production
It's heavy
The X5 is nice, but I rest assured with Lexus. Thank you.
Lexus isn’t a legitimate luxury brand and they’re having turbo problems
@@naveenthemachine I'm a Toyota guy, so I consider Lexus luxury. The turbo issue is addressed by the recall, no worries. I'd be happy with the BMW for a 3 year lease just like Soyfan

Still kind of a boring look for a BMW.
The head lights are awful.
Vinyl is not more durable than leather. Also, as it heats and cools over a period of just a couple years, is going to crack, get shiny and become more and more like plastic.
Leather is quite durable if cared for.
@@redzoom7857 that’s why I said that vinyl was NOT more durable than leather
@@golfbuddy1969 I have had a lot of cars and in everyone the vinyl held up better. Also the vinyl in the BMW is more comfortable than the semi aniline leather in my lexus...Why would i pay more?
@@pete64041 the best quality shoes aren’t vinyl…they’re leather. Why is that? Leather is the same color all the way through, and vinyl is not. Leather is a natural material that breathes, vinyl is not. Leather color is made with dyes, and vinyl is with synthetic paints. Leather can be patched, sewn and repaired, and vinyl can’t.
@@golfbuddy1969 It's marginal at this point imo...My Mercedes ML550 had vinyl and not a single person noticed it. Super comfortable, and after 8 years still looked brand new...
Hard pass.
Today I saw a brand new Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro with 57K msrp. BMW X5 for 80K? Nah, hell no.😅😅
X5 is way faster and better built. I got the 50e and it has nearly 500hp and i haven't had to pay for a drop of gas in the last 6 months...
X5 has a lot more performance but I don't think you care (and you don't have to) so I won't argue
As a 2024 X5 50E owner I have one question for you Sofyan...
"Why are you Gay?"
Why does it matter to you? His preference isn't affecting your life at all
Rip off!
Yikes!!! Expensive and ugglier…GLE is still king
Nope, my dad cross-shopped both the X5 and the GLE and the GLE is trash compared to the X5 (I can elaborate further if you really want me to), he will be copping a fully loaded X5 later this year
Have had X5s in 2 separate occasions. Both horrible cars, absolute loads of problems! Changed to a GLE450 in 2020, wonderful car in every single sense, especially the MBUX it’s brutally superior!!! As of Dec 2023, we changed it for GLE63AMG… The X5 has way much to do before it gets any close to this car, in every sense
@@miguelrodfher congratulations on getting a car with worse build quality but 1st I would like to clarify that the newer X5s are a lot more reliable than the older ones as long as you avoid the plug-in hybrid
As someone who has been buying cars (relatively high end ones) for the last 21 years, with the exception of brands such as RR or Bentley, there isnt a car with as high quality as Mercedes-Benz… you can claim anything you wish… but there’s a reason why the S class is the standard of luxury
@@miguelrodfher okay then I need an explanation why my best friend’s mom had both a 2020 and 2021 GLS with horrible build quality (both cars have been horribly unreliable too) and the same friend who went to a Mercedes dealer recently told me every new car in their showroom had horrible build quality, I’ve been in multiple BMWs/Audis/Porsches and the build quality is amazing
