    Oh to be young 😅🤪 I'm talking about the dad and the Son and the mom! What enthusiasm and drive! I restored our beloved Lucy a nineteen seventy-seven Dodge mallard class C. But not this extensively! Just more expensively! I had mechanics do everything okay I did r&r a couple of small electrical things.. I did not take the shell off! But we did put in a new bathroom and uncovered a lot of really rotten stuff! They did not build them very strong back then I mean the materials for the walls were paper-thin.. so we put in thick under board and then a nice white paneling like you had on your ceiling inside that you eventually covered with contact paper. Now there's an idea I may think about doing myself. I had to do everything and more than you're doing on your beloved Henry..! But we love our Lucy! I do like the simplicity of the old-school machines. We took out the toilet and replaced it with a cassette toilet and put a valve in to join both tanks into one big gray tank. I really love what you're doing but it's a lot more work than I could do.. we were able to keep everything inside just reupholster put down wood flooring. And it all worked out good for us as well. I wish we could meet up sometime and Lucy and Henry could meet.lol

    • @retrorevivals
      @retrorevivals  ปีที่แล้ว

      From everything we've seen, it sounds like maybe these old campers are build a lot more sound and sturdy than the new stuff they're cranking off of the line. It's nice to have people like you following along who have gone through this type of renovation. We seriously underestimated the amount of time that the engine work would add to the project. We're thinking of going with a cassette toilet in our next project. How do you like it?

    1/2" x 1/2" cove molding works great around all the wall to roof and cabinet to wall and roof corners in RVs. My parents (and later me with them) rebuilt and revamped several motorhomes. A common thing they had was a round, soft plastic bead with a flange along its side. The flange was fit between the walls and roof and the cabinets so the round bead ran along every corner. It looked cheap and tacky when it was new and worse when it shrank and cracked over years. The fix was cutting it off with a sharp knife and putting cove molding in its place.
    Where your roof isn't flat, a simple 1/4" thick board with the top edge scribed and cut with a jigsaw to match the ups and downs will take care of it. Painted white and nailed to the cabinets it'll covereth all the "sins". ;)

      A wise old home inspector that we work with once told us, "Caulk and paint makes a carpenter what he ain't!" We'll probably have a decent amount of caulk and paint in here but will definitely need to get some trim as well. Thanks for the tip on the cove molding!

    Harvey made a guest appearance on another channel this week!! How crazy was that to see!! It was a little shocking to learn they had never heard of Retro Revival, so it's a good thing you made a very nice introduction. Seems like maybe a few might be gathering over here from over there, so good work on the cross advertising!!
    Harvey is looking better and better every week. Those new green wheels def set Harvey apart from all the others. Something I was expecting to see this week was another run to Maynerds for some cheese curds and shampoo and a few 2x4's and maybe a new nail gun or something. Instead we get Harbor Freight and a miter saw. Disappointing to say the least.
    Despite the Maynerd snub, still looking forward to see what progress is made in the upcoming eps. 🤷‍♂

    Another great video 👍.
    Good to see everyone pitching in. HaRV is gonna look great, I can't wait to see the end result.
    I've been putting off doing the breaking system on my RV. I did them once before and thinking about what it took last time makes me shudder. At least this time I know how most of it is put together 😁.
    And I like your idea on the ceiling panels, I used foam spray glue to help with insulation and it is still sticking fine (I also used white rtv on All the edges and wiped flush with a wet rubber putty knife).
    Thanks again for sharing your experiences with us 👍😁❤️

    Such great progress! Just a thought…you might want to pull those two back cabinets down and move the spacer from the left by the tower over to the right by the side cabinets. Your cabinet doors may bang into each other the way it is so close now. Great idea to lay those vertical kitchen cabinets on their side! Can’t wait for the next episode!

    • @retrorevivals
      @retrorevivals  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for the comment! We kept thinking about those cabinets after we installed them and were prepared to take them down and add the filler piece there but we held up a couple of doors and we think that we're going to have enough clearance for them both to open. Not at the same time, obviously, but we should be in the clear on that (hopefully!).

    • @retrorevivals

      Yep, new valve stems for sure. As for the rotors and drums they were in decent shape. Nothing was overly grooved or damaged. After a couple of drives the rotors cleaned up and there's no pulsing or shake. The pedal feels nice and firm.

    You need to take your rotors to get them turned you can’t just use wire wheel on them. Take them to the auto part store cost like 20 or 30 bucks have them turn your rotors. Then you need to mic the rotors makes sure they are safe to use. Too then your rotors and your drums. How you know if you need too that gridding noise and it stops starts grinding again great sound to know you’re rotors and drums are warped they do need to be turned and miced do make sure their still safe to drive on. They can over heat while braking crack and brake then you have no brakes to stop.

    • @retrorevivals
      @retrorevivals  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll probably wind up getting new rotors at a later date. My main goal was to get it mobile again. The rear drums were in decent shape and not grooved. They might need to be turned but will work for now. Thanks for the reply

    Someone probably has already said this but here it is again. There is no logical reason for putting grease in the inner portion of the hub, semi solid grease never travels from inside to the bearings, if it did then it wouldn’t have been full when you opened it up. I’m not sure how this got started but just about everyone does it. Just saying. But on the bright side I really like the work you two are doing, keep up the good work.
