We are Full Time RVers from NC who made our first trip to Michigan in 2021. We had a blast and look forward to another summer this year. Our 13 year old Granddaughter was with us for a month and when she saw Lake Superior said" that has to be an ocean! " Gorgeous scenery! Your videos are so much fun and your family knows how to have wholesome genuine family time. All the best!
I've been to Port Crescent state park! Of course it was over 50 years ago. I believe we've been to nearly every state park in Michigan. We went camping one week every summer for MANY years! I know this park is in the thumb area. I liked Burt lake a lot but it's a lot further north.
We've been to Burt Lake a few times. It's so fun there to boat up the Indian River. We took the boat squirt gun fights too seriously one year and the next year there were signs all down the river that water wars weren't allowed anymore 😭 😂
@@retrorevivals HaHa!! Glad you had fun there. I was going to suggest if you keep Harvey, get a dolly to tow a car with you so you don't need to leave your campsite when taking side trips or going for groceries. That's the reason we chose a towable RV, because we already had the 3/4 ton pickup. We'd get to a park, set up the RV and then go on a side trip with the truck. Our first RV we had when my kids were little was a Harvey like motor home that was older. In 1988 we took it on a long trip up thru Colorado, Wyoming, and Yellowstone. We were gone a couple of weeks and had no tow vehicle. Great memories though. It never took another trip, set in our yard and just kind of disintegrated. We ended up selling it cheap to someone who wanted it.
Yes, this type of RV is new to us. Once we're more confident of the engine, we might explore the idea of touring a car behind... or maybe bikes? Your trip sounds amazing... we'd like to do something like that one day.
@@retrorevivals Yes you really have to get something dependable, homeschool your daughter for a year or two, and hit the road to see this gorgeous country. We were retired and had our senior pass for national parks so we got into all of them for free. The fee was $33 per park if you didn't have the pass. Of all the parks in Utah my favorite was Capital Reef. It is in Central Utah more and not overrun by people like Zion and Bruce Canyon. Glacier National Park in Montana was to me the most beautiful National Park.
Great suggestions! We already told Ella to plan on being homeschooled her 10th grade year. That would be so amazing! She's not so sure of the idea but hopefully it will grow on her. Trip of a lifetime 💚
I remember when I was a little kid between the ages of about 9 until I was maybe 14, we would always go up North. We lived in Detroit and we will go up to Glennie Michigan, which is the heart of the Huron national forest! A few videos ago I mentioned the Zilwaukee bridge, which was always the halfway point for us! We would always get off of 75 at the Standish exit and the that would be the set path of we're almost there! While in the Standish we would stop at 1 of 2 places. The first place would either be wheelers. Or we would go to the most famous second place, which was the a and W. ! While going to the a and w. We always got a kick out of being kids and picking up the phone at the boots and ordering our food. . those days are long gone. But that travel that we would get there. We would get off of the main strip, which was a 23 and then we will go app and get on to 65 and take that across when we will get on to 65, there would be a farm field that was just off. The beaten path and there were always 2 stands on either side of the road that sold peaches. Now, when I say peaches, these things were better than any peaches. You would have anywhere even georgia peaches. They were the size of softballs, and when you would bite into one, it would drip down your arm and soak the sleeve of your t shirt! L o l! We would always take either. My dad's 1973 E 200 economyline Ford Van of all things, and we did ours just as a Van with a sleeper bed in the back that popped up into a table with captain's seats, a curtain that went across a cooler in the back and a refrigerator directly behind. The driver's seat. Years later, after we sold that, it would always be in a boring car or in some instances. In the early nineties, my eighty six f one fifty, which was baby blue! Now, all these years later, after we have sold our cottage, which we built, I miss those days but all of the pictures that we have from when we were young as children. And then teenagers and then into our adult hood. It brings back so many good memories, and now. Seeing you all go up North and your camper. It brings a tear to my eye of joy. And let's me live on my early years. Through you and your family! Thank you so much for including us in on your trip..
Woo-hoo! Great to see you finally had a great little getaway in the wee beast Harvey lol. I really like that scooter, a really serious bit of kit. Super useful to get around campgrounds, and you'll be able to explore more when you stop at some attractions along the way. Your ideas for the future for the camper are all really cool, and it's going to be a really awesome home away from home. And then there's the other camper lol. All the best to the whole family, and I can't wait to see the further adventures 🙂
great job so far. I'm more than impressed. We spent last spring in Michigan and totally enjoyed it. The tulip bonanza , a sandwich I had never heard of called a cudighy (sp?) and so much more. only issue was the temperature. very nippy for Texans. we plan to return fall of 24.
Thanks! We're happy that you found our channel. There's definitely a lot to explore and experience here. We've never had a cudighi either! I just looked it up and it sounds amazing. Thanks for the comment :-)
Thanks for taking us along on Harvey's 1st real excursion. It was fun to watch y'all out on your wild adventure. We call our camping trailer Great Leaks because that's she's been doing now for years... We bought her new in 1986 and she was good for the 1st couple of years but it's always something to be fixed because of a leak ever since.
That's crazy that Bob-Lo translates that way! Bob-Lo was an amusement park on an island between Michigan and Canada when I was a kid. You had to take a ferry to get there. It was pretty amazing. Thanks for the comment and suggestion about the heater. We still have a lot of ideas for improvements! Thank you for the birthday well wishes 🎉
7:34 there is a resistor under the hood it's white there will be two wires going to it. It's about a 5.00 piece. It's for the Ignition. They get old replace it that will fix your problem with not starting.
I bought one and never swapped it out. I'll be sure and do that. These Dodge ignition issues are new to me. We appreciate the comments and help. Thanks!
Ya I have had several mopar products over my 60 year they all have had that problem. Never failed stop get fuel and have to set for an hour then it starts right up.if its Brown not white replace it. they turn off white or brown when the start having problems.
Happy Birthday! A fellow Michigan born and bred here! Loving your videos! We live on a 50 ft boat in Whitehall Mi all summer. Your videos are a happy reminder of why I am sitting in 103 * temps in Florence AZ for the fall and winter…cheers and enjoying all of your adventures! Please don’t stopu
Really enjoying your adventure I hate to be the only one commenting here so far.. but when I took our 1977 Dodge Mallard class C on our first journey before we had actually done any mechanical well improvements upgrades we went on a 3000 mile trip we made it back but it was pretty tense not knowing if the thing would start up again once we shut it off. Lucy has we call her definitely had a carburetion problem. God it turns out we had to replace everything we've been on another 3000 mile trip and realized all the other things that needed to be replaced. So now we have gone through Lucy completely and are confident that she will go anywhere well with tape, glue, and a lot of prayer. That is our slogan and also function before fashion.
I watched so many of your videos I call you my internet family 😮😂 you guys are absolutely hilarious. If you guys ever head into Canada Must let me know I would love to show you around and be your host kev c
Wow, we've never been anyone's Internet family before, that's exciting! I'm not sure we'll get ol Harvey up into Canada but that would be a fun adventure! Thanks so much for watching!
My dad had a '78 Dodge motorhome with a 360 and every time it was driven a bit and heated up you had to hold the pedal to the floor and crank it and it would start up. That was the only way it would work. It never let us down though! So glad to see you had a successful trip with Harvey. You guys have done a tremendous job with Harvey!
Thanks for the tip. I probably compounded the starting issue by pumping the pedal out of frustration. I'll try holding it down and seeing if that helps. Thanks for the comment 😁
You are such a good family you really are having family fun this is the way it should be. My wife and I both have e-bikes lectric is a really good brand. They fold in half and can be easily stored when traveling we now have a bike rack on the back of Lucy.
We would love to get e-bikes at some point to cruise to nearby attractions when camping and not have to take the RV. Foldable sounds perfect! We're planning to build storage on the back bumper so hopefully we will have room for something like that someday!
No, we were sort of limited by the weather and it being just a short trip. I've heard the best ice cream place is in Grindstone City though so we might have to make a trip back up that way next summer.
You guys are so brave everytime you take off in Harvey! I'm always afraid something will go wrong for you! I'm glad you made it this time. I know you will have lots of fun on your trip!
Just a little idea if you ever decide to pull a trailer I put timken rubber bags on the back of my dually and when they set down on them the ride is absolutely amazing very stable
It's where Pinebog and Kinde Roads meet up in the thumb. Kind of a landmark on the way up to Caseville. You from Michigan? My dad has a friend named Lou Betka... relative of yours?
Sorry to say guys but your content is great but when we can watch the whole thing 3times before the next camper comes up but it's nothing like the RV as in the repair and rebuild it's different so I know it's not cheap to do the rebuild on campers we all don't have cash coming out of our ears but trust me guys you need to get 2or 3 done before you start a new one so you have time to recoup some cash to do another so your audience don't have to wait to see the next video of the next build I understand it's not easy but you choose this TH-cam thing so please keep it up we liked it a lot I know it's not easy but this is what we want you want to keep the audience happy thank you good luck
Thanks for the comment, we do like to hear your preferences about the videos. Are you saying we should finish 2 or 3 campers before doing more videos or 2 or 3 videos. Sorry, we're confused by what you meant.
I do admit first seeing it I would have never tackled it at my age but you guys did an amazing job for what it was congratulations have lots of fun in it🎉
Vapor lock seems like a distinct possibility. Next time I crawl under Harvey I'm going to look at the fuel pump and see if the fuel lines are close to the exhaust. Also, that thermoquad carb is not my friend, lol. We'll keep updating as we sort it out.
Happy birthday Christy. I love your videos ❤ I’ve tried a baby Ruth bar, I loved it. I buy it from a specialty shop that sells USA candy . Also happy Halloween 👻 from Cairns QLD Australia 🇦🇺
Baby Ruth's are definitely the best 😆. That's cool that you have a store there that sells candy from the US. We've never been to Australia but maybe someday! Thanks for watching!
What are the chances of seeing a Harvey II out in the world?! Eyeballs were fun RV costume 😂 and loved your costumes and the Halloween decorations at the campground.
So many cool camping areas on the lakes…We’ve been to Indiana National Dunes a few years back . Most of my childhood was spent in and around Georgian Bay..regardless of which lake, they are all worth a look-see. Wished we had done some Halloween camping with our kids though, looks like a lot of fun! Congratulations on Harvey’s maiden voyage/camp !
Thank you!! This was only our 2nd time doing the Halloween camping; it's definitely different that summertime camping but still fun for other reasons. We love being on the water. Is it bad that we didn't realize Indiana had dunes? We have some pretty cool ones here in Michigan but it would be fun to venture down to Indiana at some point to check out that park. Thanks again for watching :-)
When you let the fuel nozzle overfill the tank that full it can put fuel into the vent in the filler neck causing exactly what happened when you tried to start it after fueling
I could see that being an issue. I still believe it's ignition related but I'll keep that in mind the next time "thirsty Harvey" is getting a fill-up. Thanks for the comment 😁
That's a good question. You could throw in a line outside of the designated swimming area but in general I see people fishing from boats in that section of Lake Huron. It's vet sandy and pretty shallow for a ways out.
Thanks so much! This is Port Crescent State Park in Port Austin, MI. Michigan is loaded with state parks, they're all pretty good but Port Crescent is one of our favorites ❤️❤️
At this point at the beginning of the video 5 minutes and 19 seconds and I would have had the dog House out and put my finger down the throat of the carburetor holding the butterfly open. This is the trouble I was having with my 77 Dodge 360 V8 I ended up putting a brand new Edelbrock high performance intake manifold and a Edelbrock four-barrel and that was the answer oh I did have to replace the timing chain and the cover. You did mention timing these older engines the chains wear out. I'm not going to say at this point how many other things I changed which is pretty much everything except the Pistons. But I know Lucy will always start unlike before it would just break my heart.
A couple of other comments have pointed me towards the ballast resistor. I have a new one to replace the old one. I'll swap that out first. The carb could use some adjustment as well. Thanks for the help and the comment. As you know,it's a work in progress but we'll keep at it.
ok I have been watching almost all the videos but I don't see where you sleep. I see the bunk . Do the sofas convert to bed? no over. Not a video of a full view of the finish product. how did you do the ceiling?
We have a queen bed over the cab and one of the couches pulls out and the other would sleep one person. When we travel with just the two kids, they each just slept on a couch. There's a fun ceiling video, hope you check it out!

Yes, the real world git's windy and cold up there.
Yes! But the weekend before, it was in the 80's, lol.
Awesome! Enjoy your family time! Safe travels 😁
Sure was nice of Harvey to take the family camping ✌️
He even mostly behaved himself!
Thank you for sharing those awesome memories from years past! We're glad you're enjoying the videos 😁.
It was a nice little trip. Thanks so much for watching!
great job so far.
If you ate that, you must have made it all the way into the UP. You'd love our weather in the summer... depending how late you come in the fall, it could be on the chilly side for you. Thanks for the comment :-)
I'm very happy for you all got to go on your first camping trip with Ol Harvey and he did great love seeing you all laugh and having a good time.
Thanks, Bobby! It was a great weekend!
We still love her cause she keeps giving us lots of great memories. Good luck to you guys you will deffinantly need it. Be careful on that scooter and don't let it kill you.... Lol
Great Leaks, that's a good one! Thanks for watching!
What a great day. Yesterday was my last day of radiation so I didn't have to go today anymore, and then there's a new Retro Revivals video out as well as a new Sleeperdude video! Couldn't ask for more. Congratulations on Harvey actually getting to the campground!
That's great news! Hope you're feeling ok and we're so happy we could help brighten your day!
Even I was like hey it’s a Taurus SHO 😂, does trying to start it restart the 15 minutes. I can’t stop laughing. I dropped everything I was doing to get into this video early as soon as I saw it. 😂 I made time to watch because I know I’m going to laugh. The movie references are always spot on brilliant. Bruuuuuuh, I haven’t worn a lap belt since I was a kid 😮 seeing the giant clock being apart of the costume is giving me flavour flav vibes 😂 the skeletal hand lol…. Hahaha that sarcasm “you have anything like this as a kid……..DAD” hahaha. That hit me in the feels too. I’m 46 🤦🏽♂️💀😭 jack a.ways get me laughing. The Atlantic Ocean there was quite brisk 😏 Tyler’s hair lol that was pure gold. Happy belated!
Awww, thanks so much, your comments always bring a smile to our faces. It was a great trip. And Flavor Flav, yes! How did we miss that connection?! We're slipping. We blame it on the pure exhaustion.😂. Thanks so much for watching!
Great to see a family having fun, just reminds me of me and my kids when they where younger. I love retro Harvey lol
Awww, thanks, Lee 💚
So glad you had a successful camping adventure :) I love watching your family; you are "real" down to earth folks. You tackle each issue with grace and manage to overcome whatever is thrown at you. Best wishes for Harvey's continued improvements and more camping ! Sharon in Indiana
Thanks so much, Sharon, we really appreciate the comment!
What a nice trip in Harvey you all had! I’m so glad you started this channel. I love retro stuff and you brought Harvey back to life.
You have such a wonderful family and keep smiling!!
Thanks so much, more to come!
THAT WAS FUN
Thank you!
Was excited to see your Visio and you guys looked like you had fun!
Thanks so much for watching!
7:34 there is a resistor under the hood it's white there will be two wires going to it. It's about a 5.00 piece. It's for the Ignition. They get old replace it that will fix your problem with not starting.
Common problem with old mopar. Replace it and put one in the clove box. 9 time out 10 times thats the problem.
It will be in the firewall
I bought one and never swapped it out. I'll be sure and do that. These Dodge ignition issues are new to me. We appreciate the comments and help. Thanks!
Ya I have had several mopar products over my 60 year they all have had that problem. Never failed stop get fuel and have to set for an hour then it starts right up.if its Brown not white replace it. they turn off white or brown when the start having problems.
Happy birthday Christy! 🎂🎁🎈
Thank you! 🎉
Thanks so much! We'd love to be "snowbirds" someday too!
Great first adventure! You need some big rabbit ears for Harvey! A stand up Jimmy Stewart would be a great bonus!
Oh man, we didn't even think of that. You're saying the way-too-big eyes weren't the best? 😂
No, not at all. I just had a different idea!
The eyes were pretty terrible 😂😂😂
This campground looks really nice!!
It's one of our favorites!
Love your guys videos! You're a huge inspiration!
Thanks so much!
A happy, funny time! All your little inserts from movies are funny, Miss Gulch! The weather was remarkably interesting!
Yes, it was a great trip!
That's awesome that you've been on such long trips! We're working on building up our confidence to take longer trips. Hopefully someday!
I have just discovered you guys.Looking forward to watching more.
Welcome to the channel! We're happy you found us! Thanks for watching and commenting 🎉💚🥳
So exciting to see y’all getting your first adventure under way!! Cool planned projects-looking forward to seeing Harvey’s progress!
Thanks so much!!
Hey I know where the Beacon & Bridge market/liquor store is 👍 awesome 👍
Safe travels ✌️🙏
So cool, thanks for watching!
Very pretty park up at the tip. See any grindstones?
No, we were sort of limited by the weather and it being just a short trip. I've heard the best ice cream place is in Grindstone City though so we might have to make a trip back up that way next summer.
The scooter is pretty cool
It's going to be a lot of fun! Thanks for watching!
You guys are so brave everytime you take off in Harvey! I'm always afraid something will go wrong for you! I'm glad you made it this time. I know you will have lots of fun on your trip!
We always have it in our minds that we might not actually make it to our destination, lol. So far, so good though! Thanks so much for watching.
This was a great family video
Thanks so much!
Sure do enjoy your videos.
Thanks so much! 💚
Awesome first Harvey adventure! Sounds like there is plenty of content to come! Makes my day! Blessings
Oh yes, we have a lot of work left to do and other projects in the queue! Thanks so much for watching!
Just a little idea if you ever decide to pull a trailer I put timken rubber bags on the back of my dually and when they set down on them the ride is absolutely amazing very stable
Thanks for that tip! We need to get it running better without a trailer first 😆
That looks so fun!
Thanks for watching our first little trip, it was a great weekend!
You remind me of the dad on family ties he was always quiet like you
Ha! We could both get wound up under the right circumstances though. Thanks for the comment 😁
At the 7:50 mark. You showed a picture of a bar. Heck bar. ❓ where was that ❓❓❓✌️
It's where Pinebog and Kinde Roads meet up in the thumb. Kind of a landmark on the way up to Caseville. You from Michigan? My dad has a friend named Lou Betka... relative of yours?
Looked successful to me. Way to go Y'all .😊
Thanks so much. We still have a lot of work to do but we're excited to keep the progress moving along!
Congratulations on you first fun camping trip. Happy Harvey hung tough for you. Enjoy
Thanks! It was a great weekend!
Just watched your videos all afternoon. From sunny England. Well done
Much thanks! We appreciate all the support from around the world! Cheers 😉.
Great video great family
Thanks so much!
I do admit first seeing it I would have never tackled it at my age but you guys did an amazing job for what it was congratulations have lots of fun in it🎉
Thank you so much!
Great video looks like you guys had a good time.
Yes, thank you! We appreciate you watching :-)
Nice to see you on your first adventure in Harvey, congratulations on a great job😊😊😊
Thanks so much! Happy Harvey hung tough for sure 😁
Lol fiddle faddle on the counter.
😂
Awesome sceens
Thank you! 😍
my guess would be timing and or fuel boiling - vapor lock.
I enjoyed your first camping trip. Glad you all had fun on the scooter😊 Happy Birthday 🎉
Thank you 🤗
What are the chances of seeing a Harvey II out in the world?!
Eyeballs were fun RV costume 😂 and loved your costumes and the Halloween decorations at the campground.
Thank you! We're getting ready to tuck ol Harvey in for the winter but we're hoping to have him out and about all summer next year 😁😁
What a great first camping! You had fun (didn’t blow up) win! win! 😂 happy birthday! ❤️🇨🇦
Yes, we made it! Still more work to do but it was a nice trip!
Good❤
Thank you!
@@retrorevivals it’s worth a trip,I’m thinking it’s on your side of Chicago on Lake Michigan
Thanks!
I have never heard a sound like that! 😳
So, here's the thing... we had these junky microphones that tried to "noise-cancel" the engine. It sounded normal in real life 😆
@retrorevivals Finally, an explanation to the weird engine starting sound. Thought a gerbil was stuck in a blender.😂
Oh yes and we pray an awful lot.. everytime Lucy broke down God provided an angel to help get us back on the road.
It's all part of the adventure!
Happy birthday and happy Halloween! 🎃
Thank you! You too!
This was so fun to see!
We had a great time 😁. Thanks!!
Nice looking park. Can you catch any fish from shore?
That's a good question. You could throw in a line outside of the designated swimming area but in general I see people fishing from boats in that section of Lake Huron. It's vet sandy and pretty shallow for a ways out.
You guys are so much fun!! Happy birthday and Halloween!
Thank you! 🎉🎃
Happy birthday!
Thank you! 🎉🎉
Thanks for the video
You're welcome 😁
Where did you get a Bob-lo shirt. Boblo island was incredible.
I found it on the Interwebs! I'm surprised other Michiganders haven't commented about it. Bob-Lo Island was the best! 🎢 🥳
Put some velcro on the eye balls then slap velcro some on the windshield tada
So simple yet genius, lol!
9:55 Probably a group of campers since the spot is empty. A "Haunted House"??
People were going all out! Kind of a cool way to end the camping season 😁
It looks great. Can you tell me exactly where this is in Michigan? Is there more than one state park?
I guess you never have driven in Louisiana!
Awww, thanks!
You know the ohio state flower is a orange barrel 😊
Ohio is always under construction! Thanks for the comment!
ok I have been watching almost all the videos but I don't see where you sleep.
It's an old Mopar. You have to stand on the pedal to get air to it.
I'll have to try that. Harvey seems a little finicky but what 47 year old vehicle isn't? Thanks for the comment 😁
