Awww, that's so awesome to hear! We had a trip all planned out and booked to visit Scotland but it was cancelled due to covid. We would still love to make it there someday! Thanks so much for the comment 😊
you should definitely cover the doghouse with the carpet. I was thinking that the whole time and it would definitely look good. Also the cupholders turned out really nice, though either a higher top section or having it go up at an angle might make it a little more secure of a hold on the drinks. Or you could put some of those rubber flap inserts in there so it can accommodate a smaller drink without it moving around a ton
Good ideas for sure! It's a work in progress... we were thinking of adding some kind of rubber, almost like a smaller version of that doghouse gasket, to the cup holders to snug the drinks in a bit more. Thanks for the comment.
I sure wish I could come up for the meetup. I hope you will have another one soon. Feeling anxious is completely normal. I get that way too. But once its on, you wont be stressed. Just think, everyone there came to meet you, and your friends. And let me add, a to do list is the only way to get the stress out of your head and onto paper ❤✔️Have fun and I cant wait to see the video!😊
Love your videos you can put noise deadening on the inside of the dog house i did that on a cab over truck and it really works oh yeah i see another fellow use spray poem He sprayed it and cut turn off the xs Thank you again for sharing God bless you and your family ❤😊
Well, we bought extra killmat for inside the doghouse but it actually had pretty decent fiberglass insulation in there already so we decided to leave it alone. Good ideas though! Spray foam would be an excellent option too! Thank you for watching and commenting 😁😁
What's happening my Frenchy's Crew, Fyi spray the dog house with raptor liner, it comes in close color to your interior color, will hide all the Dents and dings. Stay warm, Praying you make it down to Florida this winter, No better place to be Think warm keep up the Great job 🏆😎🏝️🌅⚓
Thanks for the comment! It would be great if we could get down to Florida this year... Frenchy's is calling our names! Nice suggestion on the bed liner too. We definitely need to do something, just not sure yet. Thanks for watching!
First minute I’m already smiling 😂 go, go gadget arms 😂 man, I watched inspector gadget as a kid religiously…. Well our floor is small but we’re missing all the whoopty do’s 🤣. I will borrow that… “safety is the worse” (“911 operator 822, do you need police, fire or rescue” 😂) I was saying LORD HELMET! Then she says “space balls vibe” 😂 I swear it’s too funny. Superb job to Tyler and Christy. Hope the kids are feeling better 👊🏾🤘🏾
Thanks! I actually got Tyler to put the doghouse on his head a couple days ago so that'll be in the next video, lol. It was 100% a Spaceballs helmet! The kids are feeling better and thankfully neither of us got sick... thanks again for watching and commenting!

You should put the sound and heat shield matting on both sides of the dog house and then maybe put some carpet over that they make a stretchy carpet that you can stretch over it all in one piece great job guys enjoy watching you keep up the good work
We definitely want to do something more with the doghouse when we have time. Carpet is a good idea. The inside of the door was already insulated pretty well so we should be ok there. Thanks for the comment!
Found your channel couple weeks ago, sure do enjoy it. I am an RV’er and am very familiar with all the nuances of campers. The most enjoyable part for me is how well you work together and the friendly banter! You both have a great sense of humor, which makes for a great video! Look forward to many more fun adventures!
I found your channel last week and proceeded to binge watch the entire series thus far. Ya'll havce done a really good job so far, it makes me envious because I wish I had a place to do my own RV revival. Keep it up :)
I thought I replied to you yesterday but I don't see it so I'll reply again 😆 it's funny because when we saw the sunset reflecting on the doghouse, we thought that an airbrushed mural or painting of some kind would look pretty cool and retro. We'll see!
You need to watch Bad Chad and you can see how to use a paper pattern to make a part design. Plus a lot more. But you are doing a great job on the camper.
We'll check him out! I think this is the second Bad Chad comment we've received lately. We hadn't heard of him before. Thank you for watching and commenting!
The No.27 car is Paul Menard. For his car in the minor league series known as the Xfinity Series. Now, for your floor. Yes heat sheeting works good and a rubber mat is nice, but....... Dura liner for truck beds is even better. It will silence almost 70% of the road noise and heat, and becomes a permanent bond to where all you need to do is rinse it off with a hose. Same for the dog house, but that you would also apply the insulation. I helped my buddy do his 78 Chevy campervan and his 78 Chevy Scotsdale work truck. It knocked the noise right down to almost nill.null. Did you save the label from your Pepsi? That's worth $.10!😂😂😂 That was the hardest part about Tennessee when we moved here.... Throwing away our returnables!!😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the tip! We're happy with the results from the Kilmat but we're always open to other options. It is funny traveling to other states and throwing returns away. I think there was a Seinfeld episode along those lines.
You guys are awesome, I absolutely love your channel. You are both so real and funny. Its great that you let everything play out and you don't edit everything out. Great job 👏
Hey guys, love what you have done with Harvey! Wish I had the talent that you guys have. Love the green. I like to do DIY myself but am not even close to being as talented as you. Also, I am originally from Palms Michigan look it up. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks again for allowing me to see your fun journey. Dan
Hi, Dan, thanks for the comment! We actually have some family that lives in Palms so we've heard of it! Just a stone's throw away from Lake Huron. Thanks for watching!
Hey guys. The reason you are having the starting issue, is that when this was built, they used a ballast resistor to knock the coil voltage down during running. When the vehicle is cranking, the ignition start position of the switch should bypass the resistor and go straight to the coil, so when cranking, the voltage overcomes the drop from the starting motor. Check for voltage while cranking at the coil + side. I bet it is zero, and as soon as you let off the key, it goes to around 10-12 vdc. If this is the case, you can jump a wire from either your ignition switch “start” output, or your + initiation wire on your starter relay. Just don’t connect it to the big wire going to the starter. Hope this helps!!
The cab area is looking good. The 70s RV i once had had a cup holder area just like the one you built. You could glue a strip of that carpet to the inside of the cup holder ring to bring the size down a little and help with condensation evaporation. a small piece of some rubber or something under the cup area might be a good idea too.
Thanks for another great video! Looks like you’re having lots of fun. We found you through the Sleeperdude channel’s Fan Mail episode - what a nice letter you sent them. 🎉
Yes, we saw those! Actually, we found them after we had already done the faux tin ceiling tiles from Home Depot... we probably would have gone with the Dollar Tree option had we known they had them. We'll probably use those on the next project!
You guys are awesome and funny. Others are boring but you bring so much fun to the project and can't wait to see the front finished in and out.enjoyed this project alot can't wait for the next and the kids seemed to enjoy helping
On my Chevy van I ordered a outside decorative insulated cover that had a leather fabric you could buy them with different colors and everything and you snapped them on with buttons that you screwed into the engine cover I got them from the van connection in Toledo but they have closed many years now but I'm sure you can still get them online dog House fabric van covers you guys are doing an awesome job I'm from Erie Michigan area
We had the '78 version of the Dodge camper back in the day. You guys probably have already done it, but just in case, have someone drain and flush your transmission, just in case. Another thing was replacing the rubber front brake hoses, after having our front right brake lock up on a bridge, fun! Bring multi color electrical wires since the old wires on Dodges are famous for cracking and shorting out or corroding. Like I said, if you have had good mechanics to help, they already have done that. You live and learn with old Dodge trucks! I really enjoy your videos. Good Luck and safe journeys.
Thanks for the comment! I need to drain the trans and replace the filter. It's on my list of things to do. I replaced all brake hoses calipers and wheel cylinders along with the master cylinder. I've replaced and rewired as needed but there's still more to do. Thanks for watching!
The cab looks great!. We need to insulate and carpet our cab floor too and I am nervous to take on that project. But you've given me hope. I also LOVE the drink holder you made.
Just finished your last video. Very enjoyable. I once had a mid 70’s class c. I upgraded to a 2016 Coachman Lepechaun. Have a good time. Looking forward to more content.
Holy Fiddle Faddle!!! That turned so good!! The repair might not look the very best, but short of finding a replacement, not sure you're going to do much better trying to put 47 year old plastic back together. Wonder if there's a decal of some sort you can find to just stick on the front. Covering with the carpet seems like it might be difficult to edge at the top and have it look right. The gauges should def be painted black though. The green with all the other black around it sticks out too much. The carpet looks fantastic, and will be way warmer then the rubber mat. The real piece de resistance of this entire video though... that retro cup holder!! What's a '76 van without a wooden cup holder?? Completely nailed it on that one Christy!! The only thing Harvey needs now is an Earl Scheib paint job on the cab!! Lots of really great work on Harvey guys!! He's looking like a new penny!! Would never have thought he could be so transformed from that broken old man to this styling new version. Always looking forward to the next new thing that's bringing Harvey back!!
Thank you! The wooden cup holder was a non-negotiable for sure. Need to clear coat it still and maybe a touch up on the stain but it'll work! Too funny about Earl Scheib... Tyler has an Earl Scheib sign somewhere... if we ever build a pole barn, I hope it surfaces! Thanks for the comment and encouragement, we really appreciate it!
@@retrorevivals Thank God you even know who Earl is!! Was afraid that would be too old of a reference to even know!! Never stop being surprised by this channel!!
Thanks for the comment 😁. We attempted to add some Kilmat to the dog house but it didn't adhere well to the existing sound deadener. We'll live with what's there for now. We might improve on that down the road.
A phone slot in the wood cup holder would be the bees knees!!!
Sort of a missed opportunity there --- cup/phone holder 2.0 might have to be in a future video. The stop action segment was for you :-)
I am with Tyler, I tune in for Christy's voice, could listen all day. Seriously
Haha, I'm not sure if Tyler always feels that way 😂😂😂. Thanks so much for watching though! ❤️
That cupholder is awesomely beauteous!
Thank you 😍😍
You could probably remove the damaged rubber mats on the door sills and pant them with bed liner paint.
That's a good idea, Gary, thanks for the suggestion!
FYI: We had cassette players in 1976. lol Car manufacturers began offering them in 1968 (they were an upgrade back then). Really enjoy your videos. Thanks you both.
Haha! Some other people commented about that too 😆 It could have been original then!
Looks fantastic! Maybe try some thicker oil next oil change.
Thanks for the comment! We're using Shell Rotella T4 15w40 oil. I'll probably add some Lucas to it also.
"Re-think my thoughts!" 😂😂😂

Since there are no airbags sometime in the future consider installing 3-point seatbelts in Harvey. I like what you are doing and your progress.
That is definitely something that we have considered and a good idea. Thanks for the comment and we appreciate you watching!
You could do the dog house in a 60 s fashion: cover it in velvet and hang a photo of Elvis above it.

Thanks so much!
You guys are going really good keep up the great work
Thanks so much! We'll keep plugging away!
Now I can't wait to find that sign for you 😆
@@retrorevivals maybe use it to cover up the boo-boo on the doghouse!! 😂
great job guys
Thank you! 🎉
1:41 😊
Thank you 😊
Dark Helmet would be a better one than Darth Vader. Especially if it were a Winnebago. But we can't always have it all.....
Yes, lol, gotta love Dark Helmet 😂
Also, new subscriber here...😊❤🎉
Yaaaaaaay!!! 🎉🎉
Total hangups job on the cup holder.looks awsome.
Bang up job.
Thanks, David! It was a fun little project. Still need to clear coat (and maybe another coat of stain) but it worked!
awesome interior, keep up the good work guys!!
Thanks so much!
Did I miss a headlight install? Look super bright! Fun channel👍🏻
Yes,we replaced the headlights. It made a huge difference. Thanks for watching 😁
It looks nice, great job 👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Put some stinking phone holders in that cup holder!!!
Seriously, might have to go with cup holder 2.0 just to add phone slots. 🎉
Thanks for the video, I would add killmatt to the inside of the dog house.
Thanks for the comment 😁. We attempted to add some Kilmat to the dog house but it didn't adhere well to the existing sound deadener. We'll live with what's there for now. We might improve on that down the road.
