    I have the rear TrailMax Mission on my 690 Enduro, this tire rocks! I have done several singletrack trails at Rampart Range Colorado. It grips surprisingly good on offroad. I can't wait until my front TKC80 wears out so I can put a TrailMax on the front. I have over 2k miles on it and the tire still looks new.

    I applaud Dunlop for spending the money to make this tire , i own a 2008 ktm 990 adv and dont really care about milage , i want a tyre that can be predictable both on and off road , this tyre looks to be a good on road tyre and a pretty good off road tyre providing the blocks can clear , the 606 has been a long time favourite for many riders and given the high silica content proves to be decent on wet roads , i haven't tried them yet ill buy some and trial them and repot back , Dave Aus...

    I just installed the Dunlap Trailmax Mission tires on my X300. There is a lot of reasons that these tires are what I chose (mid priced, true 50/50 tires, great grip off road, quiet and grip on road, longevity well exceeds most other tire options, etc.) It was a tough install. I was going to do it myself and even bought the tire changing hand tools. After watching many other TH-cam videos on the Trailmax Mission swap I got cold feet. I contacted a mobile tire service race shop and came over and we spent the better part of 3 hours beating the snot out of ourselves using a manual tire changer (clamps onto the rim) which helped and we had 4 hands free to get these tires on the X300 rims. The back was very difficult and without the use of 2 large "C" clamps to squeeze the beads together on one side and spoon the other onto the rim we never would have made it happen. These Trailmax Mission tires are so stiff you cannot squeeze the two beads together by hand to keep the tire in the center drop part of the rims. The manual tire changer was the No Mar brand and aided only in holding the rim and could not be used to get the beads onto the rear rim. The tire was too stiff. What we could have used was what is called a valve stem puller which I didn't know existed until after the job was done. Another thing that would have helped was heating up the tires as the day we did the swap it only got into the 60s degrees. Well - the job got done - swollen hands and fingers. The X300 has one of the smallest (narrowest) rear tires with the 130 size which appears to be a issue with how narrow the rim is and the rock solid tire with the free air beads only a couple of inches apart. The TH-cam videos that show the tires going on easier are the big bikes with much wider rims and tire sizes like 150 which gives you a lot more room to work with. So, if you're thinking about putting the Trailmax Mission tires on the X300 get help, heat up the tire to near the melting point (just kidding), buy the valve stem puller tool, use 2 large "C" clamps and don't use anything less than a mounted manual tire changer to hold the rim because two of you will be maxing out the tire levers with both hands. So... how did the tyre behave? I also have a Versys x300 and i'm curious about how more versatile could this tyre be, compared to the regular Trailmax.

    • @trekOCLVone
      @trekOCLVone ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Al.j.Vasquez I've traveled 3300 miles so far on the Trailmax Missing tires that they are showing almost no wear. So, that claim is true (expect over 10000 miles on these tires).
      They are low noise and I'm still experimenting with air pressure to find where the tires run at the 10% rule of cold to hot pressure differences. The 10% rule is where the pressure with change because of mostly side wall flex and the temperature will affect the change in pressure. On a 75-degree day the rear tire's temperature rises to about 90 degrees and that will change the pressure from 31 to about 34 psi. That is about 10%. Moving on to traction - they are very good on and off road. I understand why the Trailmax mission tires are very popular. They are hard to find as they are sold out most of the time. I have no experience with the "regular Trailmax" tires that you speak of so, I can't comment on those. I hope this helps.

    I have heard great things about these tires and I have a set waiting for my 790R. One thing that is important to me is these tires are made in the US. If they go 8,000 miles, then that makes them cheaper per mile than most tires out there, including the Shinko tires.

      Wet weather grip is something that they mentioned but as you saw (or didn't see) we can't say anything as to the performance in wet weather conditions. Yea I don't know about this. The videos show it being used on a standard gravel/dirt road. That looks like it'll offer equal if not slightly better grip than the Anakee Adventure, which is touted as one of the best 80/20 tires.
    I think the 50/50 here is just done for marketing to say, "we have the best street-oriented" 50/50 tire OR to try and help convince the guys who really don't go off road that they are "just as capable" as everyone else.
    Show me that in a sand pit, wet clay, and in mud; that's where I have problems with my Anakee Adventures, not on graded gravel, dirt, or dry clay.

    • @IRLtrolls
      @IRLtrolls 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. The 50/50 claim is just to make the Starbucks GS crowd feel like they actually ride off-road. These tires would be worthless in the mud. I use Dunlop D606 on every dualsport I've owned because I actually ride OFF-ROAD and not just pretend at the coffee shop.

    They did a test at Chaparral Motorsports, they ran those tires hard, and they claim to be one of the best they had tested. In another of their videos, they give the results of their tests of 25 different tires (th-cam.com/video/gjtgLz1LjnE/w-d-xo.html) and these tires were one of the heaviest tires (if not the heaviest). Which suck for less powerful bikes and for the chain. I would like a comparison between these tires and the Mitas E-07.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Without getting on the freeway we did get close to triple digits and the tires were definitely smooth and quiet. I didn't feel any vibration or anything out of the ordinary. Obviously that's without knowing if it will continue throughout the life of the tires. I think that the tires would be just dandy for Death Valley or Mojave and I would think that these are one of the better options for the bigger bikes. The last time I was in Death Valley I was on a much smaller bike and the D606's. Depending on the size bike you are riding and how western you like to get on the trail, these tires are going to get the job done. Sometimes more in the hands of the capable rider! - Wes

    I'm the different guy. I want the best traction I can get on road AND off road. I could care less about longevity. That said the TKC 80's still can't be beat. Dunlop needs to get something to compete with the TKC 80's triple compound tires.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And a lot of the riders here normally lean a little more toward the off-road traction capability for the stuff that we ride. We will sacrifice longevity and some of the high speed street performance for more performance off-road. 5-8 day rides, mostly off-road, on gnarlier trails on a lighter bike are as good as it gets in my opinion. And while this tire is capable of that, there are so many different riders, bikes and riding conditions that play into tire decision. This tire definitely filled a hole in the Dunlop lineup and I think that riders will be pleased with on-road performance and pleasantly surprised with off-road performance. - Wes

      I have some TKC 80s. They're good tires for off road because those tires keeps your bike straight up almost 99% of the time through tough terrain. They suck on the streets though. With the time that we spend off-road I was more than impressed with the performance and wouldn't hesitate to take these into that tougher terrain to give them more of a shakedown. I think that in the hands of a capable rider these tires are capable of the tighter trails. - Wes

    Looks more like a sponsored review. This tire is not a 50/50 but a 70/30 (where it evt. may excell over TKC70, GPS, K60, Scorpion STR).
    If it were 50/50, compare it to TKC80, Anakee Wild, Scorpion and MotoZ Adventure, especially in mud, sand and other low traction surfaces.
    Getting traction on fast flowing gravel roads on a heavy Bike is no big deal.

    Man that rider in front of you @2:30, he should not be riding on the street... following too close to the rider in front of him, have no knowledge of apex, cornering and keeps slamming on his rear brake. As far as the tire goes, I just bought them today and the front feels heavy, it feels as if you have multiple steering dampers up front.

    Wow. Dunlop must of hired Honda Africa Twin marketing. So many reviews popping up on this tire. All doing a great job of sticking to the authorized talking points.... This is NOT a 50/50 tire. Might be a great tire, but not 50/50. Way to stick to the script Rocky...

    This is bullshit. 8k miles on a 50/50 and it’s “only half way”. Get serious and somehow realistic.

      I bought these. I will comment when I hit 8k miles on them and tell you how they are

      @@jeffwelty980 I bought a set because of these claims. I still have them on the bike at 8k miles. I’d say they are good for another 3k maybe. The compound is hard and the rear tire is fairly poor off-road. The front tire is surprisingly grippy. I really think 50/50 these days is probably meant for the coffee crowd on big ADV who never really experience anything other than a gravel driveway!

    No mud, no sand ... this is a joke...
