    I love these tires. I have 5000km on a set. The rear is about 30% worn and the front still looks new. Riding 2up on a weestrom. 80% hiway with the balance gravel roads in Morocco. Awesome on the road and if we transitioned from pavement to gravel you don't hardly notice. Only issue is the cost here in Canada. Just way to much. In Spain where I had them installed the all in price was about 2/3 the cost of just the tires here in Canada, even adjusting for currency

    How would these compare to the Motor dual venture front and the Motoz Tractionator Adventure Rear Tires? I have a 2023 Suzuki VStrom 800DE and want to replace the stock tires with something more capable off road but still need good street manners for hour rides to the trails. I like what I hear about this Trailmax Raids except the front tire washout. Thought about the missions but I don't like what I hear about wet cool weather performance and the heft. Maybe the Raid rear and the mission front?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These Raid tires are great. The are smooth on road and do good off road. The Motoz is a better dirt combo in general and mileage will be better too. Mission front and Raid Rear would be a good combo.

      I can’t believe they lasted so long. I’m considering these because the Tractionator DV/Adventure/RallZ are all sold out. The Tractionators consistently give me about 3400 miles with the DV (front) wearing out before the rear. I’m so bummed because I was planning to stick a new pair of MotoZ on for a BDR and now it looks like I need to compromise. I thought these would get less mileage than the Motoz and am surprised they lasted so long.

    Very interested in the Raids or Scorpio Rally STR (though you ve convinced me for the first). I had a honda nx500 and i a street user during the week, off roading on the weekends, gravel and stones (I live in Greece, so the terrain is mountainous). I wont be doing any mud. My only problem is to access our mountains, i need to cover 200-300km on highways, plus my daily tarmac commuting in a busy city (athens). Do you suggest the Raids or any other combo? Right now I have the Dunlop mixtour stock tires and I really know I m pushing them in places I shouldn't, especially downhill on sliding rocks, it feels unsafe. I know i have impossible needs, but any suggestions to ride safe on street and be moderately good on dry rocky terrain would be very helpful.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I think the Raid tires sound like a good choice for you. If you decide. you want even more off road traction, we can revisit then. You will give up some road performance for any tire with deeper more knobby blocks.

    How does this compare to your favorite AX41 road/offroad. It sounds like the mileage is higher on the dunlops? I have a 390 adventure. I ran the AX 41s on a KLX 300DS and I liked them. But I’m looking for a tire for this KTM and I ride mostly back roads no highways and lots of forestry roads up in the northwest. I had a good experience with the AX 41s, but I have contemplated those trail max tires. I do a lot of forestry riding and I don’t like the front tire washing out on road or off. I didn’t have that issue with the AX 41s.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  วันที่ผ่านมา

      This Dunlop TrailMax Raid tire is smoother on the highway than the AX41 but the AX41 overall is a better off road tire. On the 390 Adv I am currently running the Mitas XT+ and I really like them. The front tire is one of the best I have run up front. Really good. Super stable, strait as an arrow in the soft stuff and it rails in the corners. Great tire. The rear is good too. Worth a thought.

      How do they feel on corners on the road around 35-50? Would that be “Mitas Enduro Trail XT Plus Tires”? They have a Dakar too? What sizes are you running? And where did you purchase the set?. • @alozborne
      @alozborne 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For mostly street riding, you'll get ridiculous longevity from the TMMs, they are reasonably quiet, and they track nicely too. I haven't noticed any issues with wet conditions but I slow down in corners quite a lot in wet conditions anyways.
      On loose gravel, I find the front tire slips out on my CB500X so I imagine that might be worse on a heavier bike. Otherwise, they are good on compact dirt and gravel roads and OK on sand too. Not so good in mud, but only full knobby tires excel in mud.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! The Mission will work well and will last forever on your Explorer GT. The Mission is a great tire on-road and holds its own off road too. The Raid is WAY softer and WAY lighter than the Mission. The sidewall squish on the highway is nice, but they will wear out in 1/2 the time of the Mission. Off road the Raid is better all the way around... More lugs. More leading edges. Just better.

    Would you, please recommend a set for BMW 850 GS adv. Having watched many of your videos, I'm looking for Motoz DV and Motoz tractionator adventure. I currently ride Anakee 3-s in Ukraine mostly on paved roads and highways, but 2 or 4 days a month I try to hit off-road routes - mountain rocks, gravel. I'm afraid of mud but sometimes we can't do anything to avoid it. Anakees are not bad on highways, but not good at all in dirt. Do those above Motoz's behave well enough on highways, including wet roads? and according to this video, Dulop Raids will suit more for my conditions? Thank you for all your awesome videos.

  • @devinhelgeson
    @devinhelgeson 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Question for you, Kyle. How do these compare to Motoz's lineup? My suspicion is the tractionator is going to be better for most off road applications but this Dunlop is great for the street bike feel. Curious if I'm right... I've heard both tires won't let you down in corners on road regardless. Would really appreciate your feedback in the comparison and thanks for all your videos.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the inquiry! Sorry for the delay in response. These Raid tires are fantastic. They are much lighter in weight than the Motoz and the sidewall flex is amazing. On road the Raid is smoother (read squishier) due to the soft sidewall, which makes it roll over bumps and you won't feel it! In the corners and grip, both the Raid and the Motoz are very similar. In general, the Motoz tire is WAY MORE Robust. They are a bit heavier and the sidewall is way stiffer which is great for puncture resistance. The Motoz will last longer when it comes to mileage. Motoz is my Go To.... the work amazing and they work for a long time. Probably should not say that on a Dunlop video... but it is what it is... Can't really go wrong with either.

    • @devinhelgeson
      @devinhelgeson 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@manybikes kind of what I expected. I just bought the Motoz Tractionator Adventure and Dualventure set. Rode them on the Oregon bdr and the Washington bdr in the last several days. It took a very long time for those tires to get worn in, man they were crazy squirrelly off and on road! But once they wore in, I found they're amazing. Large rocky terrain is great for these tires. Gravel is a little too small for these tires to really shine, I think my anakee adventures were better on gravel than the Motoz, but when things get rougher I'm happy to have the Motoz. 3 fellow riders were riding the Dunlop raids, I was the odd man out. We all did well. But I know mine will last a lot longer.

    • @manybikes

      Treat question. In wet weather the Karoo 4 is a touch better but both are the best out there. The Karoo 4 has deeper lugs and better mud / soft terrain traction in the beginning but they wear out quicker than the Raids and they tend to wear not quite as even. I want to know what many folks are 'not' saying. I find the Missions significantly better offroad the stock tyres, but I am not willing to significantly compromise road noise and spirited riding on mountain roads for some improved off-roading (given that the Missions are pretty good) when I typically select to do off-roading in dry conditions and don't do sand.

      @@nevillegreg1 The Raids handle better than the Missions on the road, EXCEPT they have a mild tendency to want to follow road irregularities. I've never ridden a knobby that didn't feel that way, the Raids don't do it badly compared to most knobby tires (it's worst when the tires are brand new). For pure cornering grip, braking, road feel/feedback, wet or dry - Raids are better on road than the Missions.
      Raids need to be replaced at 4500-5000 miles on my 890 Adv - they're not completely shot, prob get another few thousand miles, but if you want them to perform they need to be replaced. At 9,500 miles the Missions still looked great, but were vibrating and harsh. I had no desire to continue riding the Missions.
      The Raids are a little louder than the Missions, but not by much on my bike. Most of the complaints I see about noise seem to be coming from bikes w/ 19" front wheels. I don't know if that is because the noise is worse on the 19" or if it is because the are replacing a tire that is much more heavily street biased and so a much quieter tire?

    Love these tires but rear needs to be a harder or dual compound. Lifespan was super short. Also, front is noisy AF.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, the howl in the front got worse as they wore and on the big bike they wore out pretty quickly. Deeper tread would allow them to work much better in the sand and mud too.

      Love them! Would do them again for sure. The spokes were loose when they arrived... I tightened them and then zip tied them to help prevent that in the future. Overall great quality.

    Got some kms on my Raids on GS 1250. They handle pretty well, just too noisy for my liking. They really howl 120 km/h and above and it changes. Smooth highway riding doesn’t mean much to me when the howling is so loud. I wont buy again.

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very interesting... I do hear the howl and they are getting louder as the wear down... but not crazy loud on my machine. They are smooth and do well off-raod.

    Thanks Kyle. knowing how much you like the AX 41's would you go with this or stay with the B'Stone, on the rear that is. I'm on my third AX 41 and really like it. I run a Karoo 4 on front and am very pleased with that but don't care for the AX front after half life.

      The Bridgestones are a better off road tire. They are similar to this on-road.

      Half the mileage on the bigger more powerful bikes and the loose front end is still an issue.

    which is better road tire this or Pirelli scorpion rally str?

    • @JohnSmith-rp8uh
      @JohnSmith-rp8uh 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The Pirelli is a superior road tire, mainly because the wider gaps between the Raid's tread blocks cause it to follow irregularities and grooves in the road. This is a minor effect w/ the Raid's, but in my experience it's non-existent w/ the Pirelli's. The Raid's are about 95% as good on the road as the Pirelli's, but the Pirelli's are less than 50% as capable off-road compared to the Raid's. They both seem to last about the same. For me, mostly on-road use w/ occasional light off-roading (double track, dirt/gravel roads, etc), it is an easy choice. The Raid is a superior tire overall.

      Hit the nail on the head! STR better on-road and Raid being better off road.

    6500 miles....wow. The Missions on my Tiger 900 are approaching the wear bars at 3500. Ran AX41s on it and my GS, but got about 1200 from the rears. How does the Raid perform compared to AX41?

    • @manybikes
      @manybikes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The AX41 is not quite as soft when it comes to the sidewalls. They are a little heavier as well... The AX41 wears out quicker but does provide better off-road traction.
