LOVED watching this review as with so many of your others.
Bought these, my first 50/50 tyres after 4 years with nothing but Conti trail attacks 2/3. Mounted these wilds yesterday and took them out for an hour or so after dinner. Awesome, loved it! Thick gravel and sandy conditions were not issue at all. Tracked nice and I could really pick my lines. Looking forward to putting more off-road miles on my R now!

Great test with loads of information and real life Adventure riding, with a Big Adventure Bike. We use the Anakee Wild to our bikes (GS 1200 Rally, KTM 1290, GS 1250 HP, KTM 790 Adventure R and others) in similar terrain conditions in Greece for the past 2 years and we are impressed by them. The only problem we have, is the rear tire wear, which in our rocky and hard terrain mountains doesn't exceed 2000 miles, but it can be expected (hard terrain, big heavy bikes with loads of power). We usually change 2 to 3 rear tires for each front tire. Again great test and we would like to see a test of the more aggressive off road tire Mitas E 09 in the future.

I have a pair of these on my Fantic Caballero rally, and I am beyond impressed by them. Barely any wear at 2500 miles and I’ve done a lot of gravel, mud, and general off-roading. Also really grippy on the tarmac. I mean, I’m only on a 450cc 150kg bike but they work well on the roads.

Now you're talking Kyle!! This is the tire I'm running on my Super Tenere. I got them simply for the safety factor when going into the dirt on my beast. As you know from riding a big GS that the bikes are super heavy and need every advantage they can get. I did a 1400 mile trip to North Rim Grand Canyon and was actually able to navigate all the way to Toroweap Overlook. I too am very impressed with the tire.
However there is one complaint. They are very noisy. No big deal but for some it can be a deal breaker. I wear earplugs and already know how noisy knobby tires are on the street. So no big surprises.
Thanks again Kyle for pushing these tire tests past what a mediocre rider like myself would ever do.

Went with your recommendation for my Big adventure Anake adventure on rear wild on front. These Tires performed fantastic on north part of CDR. Roughly 2400 miles road trip to start CDR at Canadian border. Problem the Wild was about 60% gone. Rode CDR to Wyoming after 60% the Wild on front went fast and was done at 3500 miles. Stopped at a shop in Wyoming put another wild on. Ran CDR to Rawlings. Rear Tire the original Anake Adventure now has 9500 miles and is at 30% remaining tread. Had a rock shard tread penetration at the end of the Rawlings desert run. Patched at KOA returned home to Tulsa for a break. Getting ready for Southern half of the CDR thinking knob on back shinko 805 possibly. I have roughly 1000 miles pavement to Rawlings and another 1000 from antelope to Tulsa will the Shinko make that. Possibly I should consider another tire.

2020 KTM 790R. Seems to be a very tire sensitive bike. Suspension all set properly for me at Stillwell Performance. The Karoo 3 that came with were fine on the street but not nearly enough for the trails we ride here in AZ. Went to Motoz Tractionators. Great in the dirt horrible front end wobble at speed on tarmac. I have a Scott Damper. They swapped out the front to a (sounded like I was not the only) Rallz. Better but still a very pronounced bar swap at speed. The bike is dialed in properly. So when on tarmac less than perfectly smooth - No major wobble with Karoo3, Almost tank slap wobble with Tractionator front, and less with the Rallz under 70mph. 70 the wobble/slap in very pronounced. Steering head, and all components are at spec. Now I'm thinking to try the Anakee Wilds. Constructive thoughts and experiences welcome. Kyle, your thoughts would be very much appreciated!

Hi Ron, sounds like you've got a great setup there (other than the tire/high speed issue). You may really like the Anakee Wilds. For us they handled really well on dirt/gravel roads. Let us know how you like them. Thanks for watching.

  • @karlk5336
    @karlk5336 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Thank you for some great reviews!
Having watched most of the 50/50 tire reviews that you have done, I am about ready to break out my wallet on some new rubber, and the Anakee Wild is one of my two finalists. The other finalist is the Bridgestone Adventurecross AX41.
    The bike they will be going on is a BMW G310GS. (110/80-19 F & 150/70-17 R)
The plan is to leave for the Southwest in about 3 weeks for some warmth & great riding.
I will be trailering the bike down, and then spending significant time riding in rocky & sandy desert conditions in East Texas & Arizona, as well as some twisty tarmac in the Texas Hill country as well as US Highway 191 in Arizona (A GREAT road!)
Since I am less confident on the dirt than pavement, I would ideally like a tire that gives better performance off-road, to help me in my weaker area of riding skill.
I saw in the comments on the AX41 review that you mounted a set of those tires on your KTM 390, which has similar weight & power to the G310.
If you were going to do about an even mix of on/off road riding in the Southwest (ie, no mud) which tire would you choose?
Or, would you suggest a different tire altogether for my application?
    Thanks!

    • @chaparralmotorsports
      @chaparralmotorsports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Man... it is CRAZY how I think some tires are better for different models of bikes... The Anakee Wild will be a perfect tire for your G310! The AX41 is a fantastic tire, and will "stick a little better" on the twistes than this wild tire. The Wild has deeper tread blocks and will last longer than the AX41. Check out the AX41 on a CB500X I was riding for a bit: th-cam.com/video/h2jATnjBo3k/w-d-xo.html and here it is on the 390 Duke: th-cam.com/video/m0_7VbuRVXY/w-d-xo.html I suggest the Wild due to two different factors, 1st: it is one of the lighter ADV tires (similar to the AX41) but the deeper lugs of the Wild will last longer and will provide "premium" off road traction longer. If I were to recommend two tires... these are the the two best off road tires for your G310. Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    • @karlk5336
      @karlk5336 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@chaparralmotorsports Thank you for the response. I had already seen the video of you on the CB500X, and it was fun to watch you toting your kids on the 390 Duke. Get them started young!
I am guessing that I will be doing around 3-4k during my upcoming trip to the southwest, with about half of that time being off-road. Once I am back home in Wisconsin for the Spring & Summer months most of my miles will then be on pavement.
Based upon watching your in-depth review videos again, your reply here, and other research, I am going to be buying the AX41 this time around.
It seems like the initial off-road performance will be similar for either version, which is when I will be needing it. And they will finish the majority of their miles on pavement, where I DO enjoy carving through the twisties at a "spirited" pace, which would favor the AX41.
As far as total life/mileage, I can buy THREE AX41 tires for the price of a set of two Anakee Wild tires, and I don't mind getting less treadwear in exchange for better handling & grip. And, if for some reason I am not thrilled with the AX41 tires, I won't be out as much money up front nor have as long till they are worn out to have a chance to try something different.
I will report back on your video for the AX41 once I get some time in with the tires on the G310GS.
      Thanks!

It's about what you need in a Tire .
And if they're made in Sizes to fit your Bike ...
I have run Annakee 3's for years .
I found myself doing a lot of highway and roads .
I was not looking to get into heavy mud and off road .
So two sets of Annakees covered some 44,ooo kms of travel .
No other tire could come close to that longivity .
Now I thinking of selling but would like to ride a little more aggressive off road before selling .
However I still like twisty backroads and at a quick pace .
I think the Annakee Wilds will fit those needs easily and still give great longivity out of them.
      Annakee 3's rated 80/20 I'd say 90/10 street / Dirt .
The Annakee Wilds are a pure 50/50 they're going to deliver all 3 of my needs .
      Road holding
      Mud grip
      Longivity ......
Mechelins can be found as Original equipment on many Bikes .
That says a lot too .

Did you miss the Mud at the 10 minute mark? Did you hear how excited I was to see wet ground? Finding mud down here is really tough. I am working on a 30 yard section of ground that I aim to fill with "real dirt" that I can soak and get sloppy sticky for a tire test run. We don't get rain here very often and when we do it just makes our traction AMAZING. Working on it Alain... working on it. Thanks for watching.

    Hi
You mentioned these tires didn’t feel as bad and squirmy as the last time you rode with them on a R1200gs. Is this a version 2 or something? Have they changed the tire in any way since you rode with them or is it just due the lighter weight of the KTM?

Hello, sounds like you've got a great trip planned covering a lot of miles and a vast array of terrain. While both those tires performed fairly well in our 505/50 ADV shootout, for you trip and the amount of mileage you plan on covering, we would suggest taking a look at the Dunlop Trailmax Mission. In our testing, the Trailmax performed really well, took top honors out of about 15 tire. Expected mileage for this tire was upwards of 8K mile compared to 4500 and 2500 for the Anakee and TKC80 respectively. Hi Walter, thanks for checking out our video. The Wilds are more comparable to the 804/805s as they're are both more offroad oriented tires. In our testing we found the Anakee Wilds to out perform the 804/805. In our performance results we ranked the Wilds 4th and the 804/805 11th. As for combined value of performance+mileage+price the Wilds were ranked 8th and the 804/805 ranked 11th, so they were a little closer in the overall scheme of things. Hope that helps. Ride. safe.

Tires don’t just give out or rarely do. They first start to slide slowly. Test the tires by slowly increasing speed and lean angle. You’ll feel when they start to slide. Then slow down or decrease lean angle. Smooth throttle and brake is also very important.

I bought a set of Anakee Wild shortly after the non-BMW sizes became available. I like them in all regards except for noise and vibration. They do have excellent traction on and off road and good road handling, but I find them to be noisier than what I like and I get too much road vibration feeding back through the front tire. I am not a frequent off-road rider so the tradeoff is causing me to look for quieter, smoother, maybe slightly less aggressive tires for my next set. I have heard several reviewers say that the AX41 Adventure is surprisingly quiet considering it is a knobbly design. Also am hoping to hear more feedback on the new Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires, as their performance spectrum looks almost ideally suited to my type of riding.

it is not 50/50 tiire. It is mainly offroad looking at my experience. I did 300 miles oon them and knobs started coming off (i did 100miless off and 200 on road). Pretty shitty so far :(

I have to agree. I found they hook up very well on and off road but the real compromise is the wear and tear. With around 1000miles of on and general off road riding on a gs850 the wear was looking ok for me but 100 miles of rocky off-road riding completely wrecked mine. That’s with 1 small bag and no passenger. I’d imagine a big bike loaded with gear and more power would chew them out even quicker.

Absolute waste of money, I didn't get 2000km of use. No tarr roads, no panniers, manufacturers tyre pressure.

Nice tyres, but i suspect the homeless guys who were looking forward to a drink and a bath will have to wait 2or 3 days until the water runs clear again the questionnis what did they think of the Anarky wild, and is it better that the Dunlop trailmax mission, how long did they have to wait for a drink and a bath when you tested that, it should be part of the test, im sure they would have to wait a week if its full on knobbies

Why you have so little views? Oh wait.. Oh no... Are you trying to run actual tests and actually really COMPARE which is better!?!? Are you nuts? Just to lie and... sell more... and suddenly views will come your way!

Thanks for watching SAMFICOM. It's about providing truthful real world experiences about these tire and items. Read any manufacture spec sheet and every tire is "the best" tire and "does everything." Well... I can tell you that some tires are amazing and some times they are HORRIBLE and MOST of the time it excels somewhere... and is less than perfect elsewhere. Those who care will watch, and that's all that matters. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

@@chaparralmotorsports That was just my sarcasm. :) BTW my ranking of 50/50-ish tires for heavy adventure bike (weighted on/off road performance and longevity): 1.Michelin Anakee Wild (great handling and grip on anything (on/off road) except deep sand, longevity not great for rear (expected) ). 2. Heidenau K60 (longevity, handling, true 50/50 tire, offroad performance not perfect, but you can make it from A to B all the time). 3. Continental TKC 80 (best offroad performance, bad onroad, worst longevity). 4. Mitas E-10 (good for deep sand, on road handling is bad). And now really bad tires - 5. Metzeler Karoo 3 (bad on road, noise at 130km/h can literally drive you crazy, bad side to side grip, bad on wet surfaces, bad on mud). 6. Pirelli Scorpion Rally (worst moto tire I ever used in my life).

Do not buy it!!! So noisy on the road! A nightmare on the road and little rain you are dead!!! It is a off road 100% tire.

HI Alexandre, yes it can be a little loud but that can all depend on varying factors such as road surface, how much sound your bike puts out, your motorcycle helmet, and how sensitive you are to sounds. We found that these tires did rather well in our 550/50 ADV shootout category. They took 4th place overall amongst 15 other tires in our testing. However, we did not get a chance to thoroughly test them in wet conditions so we can't really speak on their performance in that type of situation. But some riders will like the Anakee Wilds and others won't. To each their own. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.
