I don't know if the channel art is done by one of the alters or someone else, but I love it so much. I think it'd be really cool if they used their talent with art to spread awareness by making a comic about their lives on webtoon or something!! I'm just so obsessed with the way the art looks.

In our system most people choose a birthday, especially the littles. One of our adult alters named Alivia has her birthday on June 24th because it’s international fairy day and she’s a fairy in the innerworld. One of our littles, Gabby, who’s three years old and functionally autistic, has her birthday on April 1st because that’s the day that Pokémon first aired on TV and her main special interest is Pokémon (especially Pikachu.) Some alters don’t have a birthday and don’t age, others just kinda age when they feel like they’re a year older. Our Primary protector named Matthew celebrates his birthday on November 12th because that is the first day he can clearly remember existing. There’s a lot of variety in our system.
On hard trauma and mental health days, I come here for comfort. You all make me feel so safe and welcome, that I have a safe space to relax for a little while. Thank you for that.
I had never thought about alters' birthdays! I have a psychology degree and there really isn't much academic discussion on what living with conditions like DID is actually like. Which is why I'm so interested in your channel, this is fascinating, thank you for helping us understand the way you experience the world! ❤

(She's 5-7) so i just roll with it and will get her something on tht day. My Brother/Protector/CoHost feels like his bday is in October (its when the body was suppose to be born, but we were born early)
Since I'm the host, I get the body's birthday :P Moon says her birthday is supposed to be the first full moon of December, but since we don't know a year, we usually go with the 4th, or whatever day is the full moon of that year. Neither of us really celebrate it though. ~Dark.

We do everyone's birthdays who are very actively involved with fronting. We always pick up something small for the littles because we know at some point they're going to come out. I mean what child doesn't want a birthday party or gifts? Even if it's just a cupcake and a small toy. Our partner always makes sure to celebrate the birthdays of those of us he's dating or married to. Nothing extreme, some flowers, maybe a new shirt or candles. He always cooks supper that night as well. As for Christmas us older ones get 1 gift each and it's the same for the littles. We feel it's important for our system to be treated as individuals as much as possible. Even doing it this way we don't get more then anyone else does. We tried to just do 1 collective birthday and that just doesn't work because when the actual birthdays comes then hurt feelings happen with some of us if they feel they didn't get a proper celebration. Our Partner doesn't mind though. I think it's because we don't ask for anything any other time so he finally gets to spoil each of us lol
I have been following the DID community for some time and find the topic mega exciting. How you manage your everyday situations and on top of it still try to educate others about DID . Impressive!!! I've been wondering for a while how your system deals with love. By this I mean, what do you do when several alters fall in love with different external people? Have you ever dealed with this situation and if not, how would you handle it if it had come to that? Would also be an interesting topic for a future video.😉 I send you all my love and support. Hi i never comment on videos, but I have OSDD 1-B and our system loves your videos. you actually helped us come to terms with being a system and realize that there is nothing wrong with it. Also, some of our alters have birthdays and we thought we were just weird, so we appreciate this video specifically. We really appreciate you all and look forward to more videos in the future!

So for our system: we are an introject-heavy System, so a lot of our alters have chosen their birthdays to be that of their sources. Those who don’t have one are still debating on what they would like. We’re also still very new, so what we do is something sweet (cupcakes, a cookie, etc), and one present, within reason (bc we are not made of money). Like for one of our alters, they wanted a red headband, so we got him that. Another alter wanted pens, so we got them those. That’s just how our system does birthdays tho. :)

Speaking of birthdays as a newly discovered system - and being a pretty HUGE one at that - the body’s birthday is now been repurposed into “System Celebration Day”, even though one of the girls and most of our tiny tots mainly identifies with the body’s birthday, so now it’s mainly a fun day for the youngins 😂 Meanwhile, the adults, including me, the host, have individual birthdays away from the body’s birthday. Mine is in April, which is integration day. My “big guys” have their birthdays in November, May and September respectively. So, for birthdays in my newly discovered system, only the adult parts (plus me) have individual birthdays it seems, and also that means presents all year 😂 and don’t get me started on the amount of gifts that need to be sent to our middles and littles on the body’s birthday 💀

But thanks for bringing this up, we've always thought it wasn't something for DID systems to have individual birthdays, but now another doubt of thinking our system is non-existent is gone since we're still just self-diagnosed and we couldn't afford to consult to a psychologist yet. Our alter Lia has a birthday that we chose with our boyfriend. She started off being stuck at one age and during last year she grew up pretty quickly by studying? it was weird hahaha she found the library and learnt things there and she would grow up the more she knew until she reached 18. After that day we decided to celebrate her birthday and for the exact day we took the nmbeer of our boyfriends birthday that month. Now she grows at the same speed as time so she's turning 19 soon! Its so weird how all that works hahahahaha Then there´s our mistery, Aria, she grows up but so stange when we asked even she was like wait what... hahaha

Hi, we recently got diagnosed with DID. So far only one alter has a birthday, Tyler, our main protector. He's always just said October 16th. Don't know why but it came about when creating an email years ago. Then there's my birthday which is the body's birthday, September 8th. We're thinking of having a last name that all of us can identify with, as me and Tyler are the only two with a last name, and the others feel it would make them feel "real" or validated, as they all only have a first name and nothing more. The others somehow heard Salem (not sure her role) say Nightengate. And nobody seems to really object.

Jake was everywhere in this video! Love seeing him a video. The end reminded me of bloopers that they’d add to television shows such as the Carol Burnett show. Whoever came up with this little bit at the end: good job! I’m with Ed on birthdays. I don’t know why, but I cannot ever remember liking having a birthday. I’d wake up and would really try to be happy about it, but as the day would move on, I’d find myself becoming sad, mopey, and eventually snappish. I’ve gotten better at pretending to be happy happy joy joy, but it’s nope for reals on the inside.

Hi Jake! Im just following you guys, so i dont know everbody yet. My alters also have their own birthday. Some of them at the same day as me. Im the host. And they call me mommy. Some of them choose their own birthday which is fine by me.
Quite a few of us just have birthdays kinda the same as how we all just had our names. Like most of us didnt pick our names same goes for birthdays. But I personally picked mine. I just picked a significant month and then made the day my favourite number haha. We also celebrate our birthdays but almost none of us get presents. This was a cool topic I'm glad you guys talked about it

Edit: I just remembered something that happened recently. One system member thought that he was sixteen, but didn't arrive with a birthday. A few weeks later, I'm talking to him and he's 17. Not entirely sure when that happened, but at least we know one system member appears to age 'normally' and next year we'll know approximately when to celebrate, if he wants. Now that there are more than 10 of us, the celebrations are going to have to be a lot more low key than we had hoped. I wanted to spoil everyone (who had chosen/felt they had a birthday OR just on a random day) but it's going to have to be adjusted... At least budget wise. For the system members who feel they were 'born' out of something traumatic for them and me, we're working to pick a different day to celebrate, or to wait until they feel that it's also a significant milestone of how much they overcame and who they are now. We all appreciate this video so much. It helps us. The only bit we can't relate to is sharing presents... The host is so not materialistic but... (No, I am, if there isn't a better descriptor it's because it's the truth.) We'll work it out. 10+ personalities and a student non-income. Part of the fuss is because it's all new. In a few years as we each mature (whether we age or not), we might all care about birthdays less. Also worth noting that some alters may not want to be celebrated, either on an individual day or on the host's birthday... I think there are a few like that in our system for various reasons. Some have no idea how old they are, don't think that will change, and don't want an appreciation day. Some might feel cynical like it's just a way for the host to celebrate herself without seeming like it, because the alter in question doesn't front much, and it can create negativity in the system. Some just prefer to not be involved in things unless it pertains to their specific function as an alter. So it's totally ok for some system members to have birthdays and others to not care. If it works for your system - like Jake said, you don't need to put it on a birth certificate!

Speaking of birthdays as a newly discovered system - and being a pretty HUGE one at that - the body’s birthday is now been repurposed into “System Celebration Day”, even though one of the girls and most of our tiny tots mainly identifies with the body’s birthday, so now it’s mainly a fun day for the youngins 😂
Meanwhile, the adults, including me, the host, have individual birthdays away from the body’s birthday.
Mine is in April, which is integration day.
My “big guys” have their birthdays in November, May and September respectively.
So, for birthdays in my newly discovered system, only the adult parts (plus me) have individual birthdays it seems, and also that means presents all year 😂 and don’t get me started on the amount of gifts that need to be sent to our middles and littles on the body’s birthday 💀
We found this video right in our main (ex-host's) birthday, is this a coincidence? But thanks for bringing this up, we've always thought it wasn't something for DID systems to have individual birthdays, but now another doubt of thinking our system is non-existent is gone since we're still just self-diagnosed and we couldn't afford to consult to a psychologist yet.

I’ve learned of an alter who has a birthday on the 31st of June (A day that doesn’t exist in reality but does in the inner world). That alter gets their birthday across two days to make up for their birthday not existing in reality. Thanks and Smilies!

Our alter Lia has a birthday that we chose with our boyfriend. She started off being stuck at one age and during last year she grew up pretty quickly by studying? it was weird hahaha she found the library and learnt things there and she would grow up the more she knew until she reached 18. After that day we decided to celebrate her birthday and for the exact day we took the nmbeer of our boyfriends birthday that month. Now she grows at the same speed as time so she's turning 19 soon! Its so weird how all that works hahahahaha
Then there´s our mistery, Aria, she grows up but so stange when we asked even she was like wait what... hahaha

Hi, we recently got diagnosed with DID. So far only one alter has a birthday, Tyler, our main protector. He's always just said October 16th. Don't know why but it came about when creating an email years ago. Then there's my birthday which is the body's birthday, September 8th.
We're thinking of having a last name that all of us can identify with, as me and Tyler are the only two with a last name, and the others feel it would make them feel "real" or validated, as they all only have a first name and nothing more. The others somehow heard Salem (not sure her role) say Nightengate. And nobody seems to really object.

I also feel proud at the start as soon as he started to talk I was like "yep thats Jake" I wish I could buy them each a present for their individual birthdays it made me sad hearing they don't get that however I think its lovely how you all work together and collectively decide what go get or who gets the big present, that's lovely 💙
Jake was everywhere in this video! Love seeing him a video. The end reminded me of bloopers that they’d add to television shows such as the Carol Burnett show. Whoever came up with this little bit at the end: good job! I’m with Ed on birthdays. I don’t know why, but I cannot ever remember liking having a birthday. I’d wake up and would really try to be happy about it, but as the day would move on, I’d find myself becoming sad, mopey, and eventually snappish. I’ve gotten better at pretending to be happy happy joy joy, but it’s nope for reals on the inside.

In my system we celebrate Christmas in July bc it's financially best and they all get a big present. For individual birthdays they all kinda "take a break from work" and enjoy their stuff all day. Like, Casper will play video games till he has to go to bed. Since I (LTH) have a trauma birthday and can't change it cause it's on my birth certificate lol I celebrate with them instead.

Hi Jake! Im just following you guys, so i dont know everbody yet. My alters also have their own birthday. Some of them at the same day as me. Im the host. And they call me mommy. Some of them choose their own birthday which is fine by me.
Quite a few of us just have birthdays kinda the same as how we all just had our names. Like most of us didnt pick our names same goes for birthdays. But I personally picked mine. I just picked a significant month and then made the day my favourite number haha. We also celebrate our birthdays but almost none of us get presents. This was a cool topic I'm glad you guys talked about it

Edit: I just remembered something that happened recently. One system member thought that he was sixteen, but didn't arrive with a birthday. A few weeks later, I'm talking to him and he's 17. Not entirely sure when that happened, but at least we know one system member appears to age 'normally' and next year we'll know approximately when to celebrate, if he wants.
Now that there are more than 10 of us, the celebrations are going to have to be a lot more low key than we had hoped. I wanted to spoil everyone (who had chosen/felt they had a birthday OR just on a random day) but it's going to have to be adjusted... At least budget wise. For the system members who feel they were 'born' out of something traumatic for them and me, we're working to pick a different day to celebrate, or to wait until they feel that it's also a significant milestone of how much they overcame and who they are now.
We all appreciate this video so much. It helps us. The only bit we can't relate to is sharing presents... The host is so not materialistic but... (No, I am, if there isn't a better descriptor it's because it's the truth.) We'll work it out. 10+ personalities and a student non-income. Part of the fuss is because it's all new. In a few years as we each mature (whether we age or not), we might all care about birthdays less.
Also worth noting that some alters may not want to be celebrated, either on an individual day or on the host's birthday... I think there are a few like that in our system for various reasons. Some have no idea how old they are, don't think that will change, and don't want an appreciation day. Some might feel cynical like it's just a way for the host to celebrate herself without seeming like it, because the alter in question doesn't front much, and it can create negativity in the system. Some just prefer to not be involved in things unless it pertains to their specific function as an alter. So it's totally ok for some system members to have birthdays and others to not care. If it works for your system - like Jake said, you don't need to put it on a birth certificate!
