      The Child's Play remake, while better than a couple entries in Mancini's franchise, absolutely pales in comparison to the original 1988 version. A lot of people were definitely unfair to the remake just because they had some weird loyalty to Mancini, whom I contend was never a major source of the franchise's success. I think the remake was a decent film, I enjoyed it, but I dont necessarily have any desire to watch it again. Tom Holland's original version, however, I will watch for years to come. It's a true horror classic and great movie. The remake is just a decent film.

      I didn’t hate it, but I definitely didn’t like it! It had some pretty decent kills but it wasn’t a decent movie, sorry (imho) 🤷🏾‍♀️. I get the whole “introduce to a newer/younger audience” thing as their excuse for every remake, but I didn’t like the “haunted robot” Chucky concept; for me, that made it less horror, too techie. And, idc what anybody says, it was unrealistic for kids at those ages to want or be interested in a doll. I liked that they aged Andy and gave him some friends but maybe they aged him too much! He could’ve been older than in the original movie but still young enough that it’d been more believable! They looked like teens (at least 12-13, maybe older)! I’ve never seen any boys their ages play with dolls; especially one that looks like that! Or maybe their choice in actors wasn’t the best (as far as looks); they could’ve actually been or just looked older than the roles they played. My point is that those teens running around with that doll was beyond unrealistic; it was straight hilarious! 😁😂🤣

    • @libradawg9
      @libradawg9 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dabearslive9605 The problem is you want to do something different with a remake, buck the trope a little bit. I like the film and consider Jason to be a great example. He was more human, he chased his victims and he kidnapped a girl. The fact she looked like his mother was a PERFECT reason he'd keep someone alive. But yeah its critics hate the token characters.

    • @colten53
      @colten53 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The remake does a lot of things right. If you’re going to reboot Friday the 13th, it kinda makes sense to condense the plot of 1 through 3 because today’s audiences don’t want to wait years to see the iconic hockey masked Jason that everyone is paying to see. It didn’t try to make the franchise something it wasn’t like the found footage idea that was floating around for a while, and it just embraced what the franchise was. The big problems for me are that the intro is way too long and I didn’t care for the cinematography (they kinda overdid the blue filter at night and the orange filter during the day, and it just looked too Hollywood). It’s basically just an average movie in the series. Jason Goes To Hell is the lowest point you can possibly go in this franchise. My personal favorites are Part 6 and Part 2.

      It was the first Child's Play movie I actually watched, and after I finally watched the original, I have to say, I do enjoy the 2019 one more.
      Not that I DON'T like the original one, I think it's a fun ride over all and Brad Douriff kicks ass as Good Guy Chucky, but when it comes to creepy doll villains, I'm more into the ones that are quiet and calculating rather than shouting ones.
      So for MY personal preference, I enjoyed Mark Hamill's performance for Buddi Chucky as he was able to make him sound innocent and sinister when need be. That's what I look for in a creepy doll; a toy who is made to be your best friend, but when you drift apart from it, whether it'll do you any good or not, it'll plan something for or against you.
      It was actually what I thought the original was about when I first caught a glimpse of it as a kid. Not that it disappointed me, but it wasn't what I expected is all.
      So yeah, that's why I prefer the 2019 one, it fits my personal preference for creepy doll characters.
