    Great review. I rode a Santa Cruz Heckler for a year or so and rode with friends all with Gen2 Levo's. I had serious Levo envy mainly for the battery and motor. This summer I added a Gen3 Turbo Levo Pro so also went the crazy price route, but I have been totally satisfied and happy with the bike. Luckily no issues so far. That Brose motor is so smooth. Much more manageable on steep climbs than the Shimano E8000 motor on my Heckler. The Brose seems way more efficient too. I am 87 kilos and 1.87 meters so the improved efficiency and 700wh battery are great for me on long climbs. I went with the S5 and it fits perfect. FYI this bike cost more than what I paid for my new Husqvarna FE501s dual sport motorcycle! That just seems wrong, but it was worth it for me.

      Totally get it! But like you, I believe the specialized turbo levo is the best! And the Brose motor is really the smoothest, with the best torque. I just got mine rebuilt for $900 after putting 4500 miles on it. I only rebuilt it preemptively, it did not have any issues. I believe if you just keep up on the maintenance, these bicycles will last you a long time. And I think they're more fun than good motorcycles! Plus you can take them anywhere. Have fun!

    Great review mate. I was skeptical too regarding the high end price in comparison to some of the other E. MTB 's on the market. You ran through all the questions in which I myself had queried.. So big THANK YOU as I am now set on acquiring the 2022 levo..

    Nice review. I just got the Turbo Levo Expert as well and absolutely love it! I put on my Wahoo Roam and still can ride to power to get my workouts. Two upgrades… first, like you, I put on carbon bars but from SQLab and second, I put on the GX AXS. And yeah, the stock seat, cheap and awesomely comfortable. And yeah, my SWorks Aethos is not getting the same love anymore….

    Great review that is spot on. I have the Expert also but in the S2 and wine color. I absolutely love it. My charging door broke off also but was replaced under warranty. I swapped out the dropper for the Reverb AXS from my other bike. Just upgraded the drivetrain to GX AXS also. Shifts like a Formula One car now. I too ride my eMTB over 90% of the time. More riding while being less spent is the biggest benefit. Ordered a set of Industry Nine wheels and hubs. Can't wait to try those out.

    GREAT REVIEW. I have a 2022 Comp Carbon and LOVE the bike. There is a smoothness to the motor that you have to ride to feel! More miles, more fun, same leg burn.

      Awesome review!! I too bought one because of age related issues!!Lol!!! I had shifting issues from day 1 on the AXS system. It would hang up only from 11-10 up or down shift. After 3 visits they finally found that there was an issue with gears and replaced it. Wireless is awesome now and I too broke my plastic charging cover soon after owning the SW Levo. Replaced under warranty. Bike is awesome. Don’t ride analog at all. Again, awesome review. Best Regards

    Great review man! I'm considering this same build for a few reasons. I love bikes and have too many but not an ebike yet 😂, it would be great for longer FUN days, I hate the uphill so if this will get me a few more laps in then hell yeah! And lastly, my gf could borrow it too and I'll just ride my pedal bike (evil wreckoning) and we can both be out riding longer.

I have a gen 2 expert, but chainstays are too long. Went ahead and did a mullet on it and it helps some. Have a levo sl expert also, love that thing going down, but to used to a levo going up.

    I am 5’ 7” tall and 180 lbs. I like the dimensions of the S2. I haven’t ridden an S3, so I’m not sure how much of a difference there is. The S3 is the middle of the road and with the adjustability of the bike, you can’t go wrong.

    Very nice review! Ive heard a lot of good things with specialized customer support and your experience with them proved it. Man, 5’8 - 5’9 people always fall on that hump sizing 😂 i know a lot of people having hard time picking if s3 or s4 will fit them better. Did you even tried sitting on a s4? Or you just really looked on the reach number and already made decision with it. Thanks!

    I own a 2019 Levo Carbon Comp, and the motor lasted 850 miles. The warranty (4yr) covered a new motor, the 2.2 version. I like the bike, but if I’m going out of town for mountain biking, I bring my 2016 Trek Remedy 9.8 27.5 as a solid back up as I don’t trust the Levo. Pushing a 48 lb bike back to a trail head ruins the ride.

    I just racked up 4500 miles on my bike. Then I had to rebuild the motor, replaced all the bearings in my rear hub, installed a new cassette, new chain, new front chain ring, new tires, new valve stem. Back on the road $1600 later! And before that I upgraded my suspension to coil front and back and built my own wheels and upgraded my brake rotors. The bike is an absolute blast but if you ride them hard they are effing money pits!

    Hi great video, I am waiting for my S3 levo comp carbon to be delivered. $6750 USD in the online winter sale. Now back up to $9k, couldn't resist my first e bike from a alloy comp epic which I love. I wanted to get my wife out more the new sizing means the S3 will fit her 5'4" and also me 5'10". So when she's out I'll be on my epic and when I'm out with my mate we will be on e bikes he's just bought a Obea H15. So it's his fault that I have pulled the trigger on the levo🤣. researched the purchase and just wonder how on earth they can knock 2250 USD off, there must be a huge profit margin or they are selling off before new models. I would advise anyone to shop around the website deal didn't seem to be advertised that well and was only on the US site.

    From your review and the specs , I’m liking this version of the Levo the best . 14k Canadian though . Geez it’s just like buying an actual dirt bike , but healthier

    • @MajorTendonitis
      @MajorTendonitis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya that’s a brutal pill to swallow . At first I was debating to go with a cheap Chinese bike to get to and from work , but now as always with me, it’s spiralling out of control .
      I off road dirt biked for years , but now that I’m in my 60’s I’ve had to kibosh that . I did buy a specialized bike about 15 years with full suspension, but I broke my hand in half 90 minutes after I bought it . I was taking in how cool the ride was on a trail here in town , and realizing it was giving that same high as dirt biking . Unfortunately back then there wasn’t a lot of suspension for a bike costing 3K , and I hit a small rock which threw the front end out .
      I’m thinking seeing as that the Levo has more weight than a conventional pedal bike , and decent suspension, maybe I’ll stay up longer .
      So as much as I think the prices are absurd , I’m kind of comparing it with the cost of a new dirt bike . I’m prepared to bite the bullet and just buy the one your showing , but it’s not available here in the west Kootenays. I want to buy local ,as they maintain it for free . Calgary would be cheaper , as I’d pay less tax, but I believe in shopping local in most circumstances.
      They have a Levo which costs 8K which I’m super comfortable with , but it only has the 500 wh battery . I’m really wanting the 700 wh , just for piece of mind if anything .
      Also I’m 285 pounds , so there’s that
      Btw I subbed . Every bit helps I guess , and this is a really good video you created here . Helped me the most so far

    Fantastic review !! 👌
    I'm on the verge of getting the expert, in the same sick colour way as yours ( Black & smoke ) question for you ? ; I'm 183 cm tall S4 & S5 I've only been able to test the Non e-bike versions of the turbo levo expert for size & only in the car park ! Because of very short supply due to the pandemic & no demo bikes available which is a bummer 👎☹️ but ; they are such great bikes !
    The S4 was in it's slackest setting of 63.5 & the S5 was in the 64.5 they were super manouvrable !! I'm in-between sizes can go with either ! But because they are not the E- bike version I'm wandering wether the S5 might be too much it will be more stable ! & S4 more agile !! I'm basically wander wether to go up or down !!!
    Your thoughts having got one & probably tried the S4 & you settled for the S3 !!

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is a personable preference around the reach number. I have tried a lot of bikes and feel real comfy on a 450 ish reach. Anything around the 470 seems too long for me and I find the bike stable but a handful. Given the reach is what I like and its a 50 lb bike I went with the S3.

    • @docwong
      @docwong 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I choose in between sizes and I ultimately chose the smaller size and I’m glad I did. Unless you are doing lots and lots of technical fast gnarly down hills I go with the smaller of the two sizes.

    • @captnhuffy
      @captnhuffy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@docwong What Doc Said. Personally, I think it is more about the **speed* you ride (larger frame) , vs better **handing traits* (Smaller frame size.) It's really NOT as much about how gnarly the trails are. Manuf sizing is just a starting point. Check out the Joy of Bike channel's YT video: HOW TO FIT A MOUNTAIN BIKE TO YOUR BODY | Free Fit Kit Note: Because I want a playful bike ((yes I go FAST downhill, but I still want to PLAY)) I always go down a size. More than once I went up a size and was quite UNHAPPY . And YES, I take my custom made **RAD string** whenever looking at bikes. I ride RAD+ size bikes. People coming from BMX will likely want RAD- sizing. The RAD sizing method is FAR better than the recommended size. and YES, I totally revisited all this before dropping $11kUS on an eMtb,, Also Consider:: eMtb are are HEAVY and LONG.... so handling traits are even MORE IMPORTANT than with lighter and shorter non-eMtb. Just my opinion.

      Yeah, it’s going to be interesting to see Brands moving forward as riders will need extended warranty and service in a timely fashion, otherwise they can’t justify a 10K+ price. I would be hesitant to go direct to consumer brand for an ebike at this time, could not imagine the headaches trying to get motor replaced or fixed.

      I told myself if an Expert build was released and I could find one in my size, I would jump in. Expert builds in my mind have always been best value from specialized although the last year has kind of changed that. The Pro does look enticing with the Carbon wheelset but I could care less about Kashmina fox factory suspension, the performance elite stuff is top suspension. I figured I would buy an aftermarket carbon wheelset and keep alloy roval to sell with bike and keep the carbon set for next bike or sell separately.

    I have a 2023 carbonfiber smoke grey..bought it discount price.love the bike .need better forks and shocks. Never can get spare parts.. waited2 months for rear cases it broke.seat down lever broke. Been 1 month it still hasn't come in..I've had to resort to ordering online after market parts .so that probably does Away with warranty. I'll see...when it works I love mine..I'd been sick if I paid 10 for one but am sad I didn't upgrade

      That’s a pretty big reach on the S6 but if you like a long stable bike for plowing down fast rough trails it should be pretty good for you at 6’2. For a more manageable feeling bike at slower and flatter terrain the S5 is probably a great choice at your height.

    Great bike , rides smooth th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing .
