Cleary Gecko 12" Pedal Bike
มุมมอง 3.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The new Cleary Gecko has dropped some weight by going to alloy from steel and also gets a higher rise bar to put the kids in an upright position for learning to pedal. Everything is dialed on the build from the sealed headset and bottom bracket bearings to the short-reach brake levers for the tots. Small 19mm grips, toddler-sized seat, and little 89mm cranks round out a pint-size whip for the 2...
Built my 11 year-old a 180/160 mm Wreckoning for how much?
มุมมอง 2.8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The pre-teen Kids can often fit a 27.5 inch mountain bike. Building it up for a reasonable price is the issue if your goal is a light weight bike. Find a frame on-sale with a short reach and low standover/stack and you can often make something better than any brand is offering. thebikedads.com

New Kids Ride Shotgun Pro Seat Vs Macride Offroad Child Seat

New Kids Ride Shotgun Pro Seat Vs Macride Offroad Child Seat
this or the jett 20 geared?
Hi @thebikedads I'm hesitant between 20" Jett and Riprock. I have twin boys (so price can stack up). we like to ride up and down paved street, visit paved pumptrack or do tiny downhill sections off road. I would like to encourage them to go further into forrest. Current bikes are Rascal 16" (rentals) My plan is to put Schwalbe Billy Bonkers 2,0" or even Rocket Ron 2,25" onto Jett and be done with it. Only "disadvantage" at that point would be rim brakes. Riprock looks awesome on surface but older(cheaper) model seem to have unreliable brakes. Ergonomic wise, it looks like this model isn't going to last as long and I would have to purchase different cockpit components. Boost hubs and Ground Control 2,3" tires look cool but can be overkill and weight adder. It seems like a lot of disadvantages for the little extra off road capability it offers. I'm I right in my assessment? What is your take?
@@FilipKopca Jet would fit your bill great. Even with a meatier tire. New Riprock is great. Stay away from the old one.
Enjoyed your video thank-you
Yeah man!! I just got the 2023 Levo Turbo Comp Carbon - 6k. Couldn’t resist. I love it! I’m 57 - I can’t see me riding it all the time - If I ride 5 times a week, I may take it out once - I don’t feel I get the same ‘suffering / fitness” from it - it it’s good to use as a recovery ride or an adventure ride. My Treks 9.8 Slash and Top fuel are my go to. 😊. Who knows, maybe in the years to come I’ll be riding the e-bike more than much analogue - 👍 I hope not, because that may mean I’m getting fatter and out of shape. 😆
My kids gecko bike didn’t come with those handle bars? Can I buy them aftermarket?
Yeah Bobsled!!!🎉❤🫡
Hi im 5,7 180 pounds. I actually found this bike a few minutes ago online and I was hoping this for myself .... would that be an issue somehow?
Great job on your video. We went to B-ham for the 1st time about 5 weeks ago. It was a blast, but we needed more time.👍😉
You said night and day compared to the 2021 model. Are there any concerns I should have with the port cover? Any advice regarding the 2021 models? I'm a noob MTB rider and I currently have a hardtail. Diamondback Sync'r carbon similar to Bermpeak's
if i am 12 years old would it be a good bike for me i am 150 cm i think about that and is it good for tricks like wheelie and jumps like mtb?
That’s a killer frame for a kid. He’s gonna grow up with Cadillac tastes on a Subaru budget.😝
Are these style of seat recommended for safe city trail biking for 2+ years old?
@@shantelbolks3148 yes 2 and up
Great success 👍🏼
$10,000working man’s E bike lol
Can you put training wheels on this bike?
@@jessicagranc5562 not sure. We do not recommend training wheels
For the same price, would you go with this Jett over a Polygon Ultralight 20? The Jett’s trigger shifters and accommodating handlebars are attractive. But for a confident 5 year old who likes trail riding (as well as typical k neighborhood bike rides), I’m wondering if the Polygon’s slacker, more trail-oriented geometry might be needed.
I’m torn between these options as well. Have you made a decision?
@@Tachtronics still can’t decide.
Great review, perfect bike for the petite ladies. Too bad that sweet raw aluminum colour isn't available on the bigger model.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience
Pounds, inches, feet - damn, where are the normal units that 99% of the world uses? They could have been written on a screen somewhere for us to read.
@@GrigoryRechistov our metric review is coming...stay tuned.
Nice informative video guys. We are heading up in 2 days for the first time!👍😃
Couldn’t watch music is annoying and too loud
There's so many chinese cassette systems that work on shimano derailleur and shifters now and im curious how those perform compared to this
Got a cheaper version of the Shotgun for my kids and they absolutely love it! Oldest is now on his bike, and the youngest is just big enough to be on the bike with me.
Do kids hands ever slip off with these? This is my worry
@@davidhill431 not really. You can ride flat terrain without the kids hands on the bars. But in bumpy terrain they need to hold on.
Rad project 🤘🏼
Specialised USA is a skank company. They advertise a summer sale $1000 off on a “ Turbo Levo Comp alloy.” Then cancel the order. One day after receiving payment with no valid rationale, for their actions they refused to sell the bike at the sale price.
Where did you find this bike in BC? Also at what weight do you think kids need the suspension? My daughter is 3.5 and still under 30lbs but loves shredding trails. Thanks!
I have a 22 model levo alloy and being in my mid 50s was a good entry level model as I hadn't ridden a push bike since my teens as I had always had dirt motorbikes. Its great to see if you want to continue riding emtb and later step up to better models of give it away. For me I'm happy just to be out there now with this and not pushing to 11/10ths of risk anymore 😂

How do you get on and off the bike when you have the child seat attached?
@@remusb put you feet on the ground and lift the child on and off. A dropper seat post helps with stability
@@TheBikeDads yes, I just lowered my seat to make sure I reach the ground. A dropper post would be a wonderful addition.
Thanks you
Hi, currently torn on the Prevelo Zulu 3 and the Giant STP 20 for our soon to be 6 year old. Of course the price point of the Prevelo is slightly higher (about £100 GPB difference with various deals in the UK) - Wondered what your thoughts were as a comparison?
The Prevelo will be a better mountain bike with a more kid focused build.
How many fingers this kid used to brake on this bike? Thanks
What's the difference when you go up the models? I've ordered a turbo levo alloy I'm waiting on but I was curious on what the main differences are as you go up the range
How do you secure the bike on your back?
Lots of bags have full face carrying options and I just kind of stuff it in.
I am a bit disappointed. I hoped to see differences between those two more precisely. The conclusion "either is good" is a bit too ambiguous.
Sorry it is true. Both great seats. You can go wrong with either one
I have the same bike, and the components are too basic. The TCU with the brose motor has problems. The sram brakes terrible.
Our TC fork lockout stopped working and now leaking a little oil out of the bottom on the rebound knob. Do you think a rebuild will solve this or indicative of a much bigger issue?
It’s easy to pull apart. You’ll need a new seal by your rebound knob if it is leaking. Call Brett at Trailcraft. He is an awesome guy.
What size chainring did you do? I'm assuming a boost bike, so did you stay with 6mm offset with the trailcraft cranks or move to a 3mm offset chainring?
Great video thank you! Could you describe how did you stick this little bike to your back ? Definitely I need this information 😅
Can you recommend a training wheel kit that will work with the WOOM 2 with the funky rear dropout and Allen key hub hardware?
Sorry. We say no to training wheels unless there are physical limitations. Have you tried taking the pedals off and using it as a balance bike?
My kid won’t even sit on the bike without the pedals.
@@jeffkashat4625 try bribing them? Here are some tips to help him learn. You can try to put it on a bike trainer? You need to be able to balance a bike more than pedal a bike to learn how to ride. thebikedads.com/new-bike-dads/
Did you ever tried an assistance mode based on your heart rate? Is it cool and useful?
Hi. Do you have any video about helmets for kids???? Thanks
Hit me up if anyone has a used one! I’d love to get my 6 year old on one, but can’t afford it new.
I just racked up 4500 miles on my bike. Then I had to rebuild the motor, replaced all the bearings in my rear hub, installed a new cassette, new chain, new front chain ring, new tires, new valve stem. Back on the road $1600 later! And before that I upgraded my suspension to coil front and back and built my own wheels and upgraded my brake rotors. The bike is an absolute blast but if you ride them hard they are effing money pits!
What's the hight limit for this bike, my kids are under 12 years old but very tall
too expensive...
Thank u very helpful
Ive had my base Alloy Levo for 2 years. Love the bike and it's holding up well. Just upgraded the Crankring to 38T and I haven't really changed anything. It handles my super heavy weight well to. I did go through my first rear rim recently.
FUCK SPECIALIZED PRICES!!!
i was out walking recently and seen 2 levos i couldnt beleive how loud and shit the motors sounded, they werent the cheap models neither very recent carbon models
hey im only going by what i heard and seen and you can pick levos up for a few grand. They arent exactly out of reach
@@Emtbwebb only going off what i seen and heard not hating theyre a good looking bike, and as for dont hate if you dont own one that just sounds like a child whos through his toys out the pram 😏
