Specialized Turbo Levo Review - Long Term Test of the New Gen 3 Levo

  • A little over a year ago we were hand delivered a new Gen 3 Specialized Turbo Levo ahead of a full day of filming and interviewing Specialized Bicycles employees for our Dissected Feature. Since that first sloppy and incredibly fun day, we’ve done our best to put as many miles, hours, and vertical feet on this bike as we could under as many riders as possible. As much as we wanted to rush a review of the Specialized Levo out in the name of Google Analytic rankings, we knew there was a need to put this bike through a thorough review process. We joined a few Facebook Levo Owners groups and forums and found that quite a few previous generation Levo owners had concerns over reliability. Since these bikes are no small investment, we felt it prudent to do our best to beat on this updated Specialized Levo and see if we developed any issues of our own. Let’s see how 14 months and 5 test riders have gotten along with the Gen 3 Turbo Levo.
    THE DIRT
    Ever since our first ride on the new Specialized Turbo Levo we were hooked. We had to do our best to hide the instant connection during our Dissected video as they are made with the support of the brands, but since then the feelings have only grown. It has pretty much become my go-to eMTB for testing new products, components and filming for our TH-cam videos. In fact, aside from breaking the little plastic tab on the charge port door, the only thing this bike needs, badly, is a suspension service. Granted I did replace the SRAM brakes with a set of TRP DHR-EVO brakes, which are way more powerful and consistent than the OE spec.
    While we have not been able to cause any failures, or other problems with the drive unit, battery or belt, it does seem like the motor has gotten a bit louder over time. In fact, even on hard days with 5,000-6,500-feet of very steep self-shuttles, we notice the unit seems to get louder as the day goes on and can slight drop in power, perhaps from the heat on the extended and steep climbs. Nevertheless, the bike is still fun, peppy and climbs like a goat. We will update as miles keep getting stacked on this bike if anything changes.
    From a comfort and performance perspective, the Turbo Levo is a treat to ride. Whether it’s an all day mission or shredding hot laps, the Gen 3 Levo just feels right. Some may take issue with the 27.5-inch rear wheel, and yes, it lacks the rollover of a 29er while seated, or standing for that matter, but is more of an indication for who this bike is designed to please. Riders who want to push hard, corner quickly, enjoy a stiffer and snappy rear end will all enjoy the shortened rear end of the Turbo Levo. We’re big fans of mulleted eBikes, although we do agree there is a place for full 29ers in the realm.
    When it comes to picking our favorite part about the new Specialized Levo, it’s hard to pick just one. We instantly feel at-home on the bike, but think the geo and suspension tune are huge factors in why we really enjoy this bike. It feels right in almost every single type of terrain and trail. And for the rare occasion it doesn’t feel quite right, a simple geo adjustment and you’re tuned up and ready to rip. Specialized absolutely nailed the suspension tune on the new Levo eMTB and we’re confident that because it can effortlessly blend planted stability with poppiness and snappiness when needed are why it’s one of our favorite eBikes on the market.
    The Wolf’s Last Word
    As we look one month into the future with our 4th Annual eBike Shootout looming, this is definitely a bike our crew has their eyes on for a top spot in the all-around category. We’ve done our best to put durability and reliability issues to the test regarding the belt and drive units and are happy to report we’ve not had any issues at all. Although it’s not quite as fast or powerful feeling as the EP8 in some situations and Bosch in most situations, it’s in the mix and has its own unique feel that we could describe as vanilla ice cream. Although I personally love a good vanilla, what I mean by that is, it has no major standouts when trying to describe power delivery or pedaling performance. I don’t see that as a bad thing because it means most riders will just get along fine without the polarizing traits some units have.
    Overall Specialized have delivered a complete package of an eBike that is incredibly fun to ride, capable in all types of terrain and has become one of our most fought over test bikes. That being said, I’m sure glad we didn’t have to fork over $13,000 to buy it, cuz if we did I’d just have to hope the new, alloy versions ride almost as well since I’ve got bills to pay and diapers to buy. Price aside, this thing kicks ass.

    You guys produce great reviews, just sayin. Some may not like to sit through longer explanations, but for me, it is just what the doctor ordered. It gives you a chance to mention small details as well as the obvious, and I appreciate that. I just ordered the comp carbon from my local dealer, due in no small part to your (nearly) hour long MTB shootout video naming it the best overall! I did sub BTW! Thanks!

      @@starkalarm it’s a real solid bike. I experimented with the flip chip and HTA but ended up leaving it as original for the trails in this area. I would be happier if it had a better rear shock, not much adjustment on it but, ride what you brought.(for a little while ;-)

    Wife and I took the plunge last week and bought a his and hers Turbo Levo. We are so stoked with them and happy to be getting in multiple laps on our favorite local PNW trails.

    I bought the Expert Turbo Levo last July. I've put just over 600 miles on it and agree completely with your review. It's an incredible machine. I too broke off the charging door and my local dealer replaced it under warranty. That's the only issue I have had with it. I swapped out the dropper for the AXS Reverb from my Niner; the Manic Fusion wasn't really up to the rest of the spec of the bike. I recently had a limb get caught in the rear mech and broke a spoke and did some other damage, so I took the leap and had the AXS shifting put on. What a great improvement. I absolutely love the bike and the customization that goes with it. I'm 59 years old and ride it mostly in the Eco mode. That still gives me a great workout without being totally spent and I can ride nearly 60 miles on a single charge. I initially had a hard time wrapping my head around spending over $10K for a bicycle, but I have no regrets. I ride way more often and for longer rides and that's what it's all about.

      Same here. 58 years old and love this bike. I'm 50/50 in Eco and Trail and only used Turbo 2x for about 1 minute, just out of curiosity. I have my Wahoo head unit to tell me the watts so still I get my great workout. I too swapped in the SRAM GX AXS and love it. I put on a 16 degree sweep handlebars and maybe... next year I'll do a Reverb AXS. Love this bike! But then... maybe I'll trade in for a Levo SL...

      @@wss327 interesting to hear that you put 16° bars on your levo. I was running 16deg for a while as well, at 790 mil, but I bought a one up carbon bar and cut it down to 770, and I’ve had no wrist pain at all since doing that.

      @@DZig I have read many good things about the one up bars. So far I have some success with my 16 degree SQLab bars but I am always open to new components. As well, I just might have to get stronger and find better balance on the descents. I guess for me, that's part of the fun, tweaking my bike to find perfection...

    I’ve put a thousand miles on my 22 Expert and it’s amazing. Torn off the battery door by accident, changed the tyres, stem and shock - but apart from that - can’t fault it. Amazing

    I have had a Pro for almost a year and agree that the bike is all around awesome. No issues for me although I don't put the miles on that you guys do. I am 6'2" 195 lbs and 65 years old. S5 fits me perfect. I went full slack on the front and high in the back. Works well for me. I have been impressed with the battery life too. Power is nice and smooth and the bike does great at climbing steep challenging terrain. I am a huge fan of these bikes based on my own experience. Agree with your review 100%.

    Awesome long term review! You have great content! My wallet is NOT that deep but I saved and sacrificed and bought the SWorks and have never looked back!! When I saw the 2022 model debut with the new geometry and control system, I had to have it. Again, awesome long term review. Keep up the great work.

    Excellent opinion piece. Loam Wolf delivers again! Thank you! Thank you for touching so deeply on all the key areas. Suspension deserves all the attention you gave it. Double thanks for affirming sizing, keeping it in reference. Thanks on power delivery...
    But, but, at some point we are going to need graphs comparing the different motors.. charts at least. Even if the graphs show a flat torque curves, the rate of change vs rpm (focusing on starting obviously) is important. And these graphs will also show the magnitude difference the various manufacture deliver. No small thing!
    After all we are discussing motored bikes. Motor data matters!! Obviously this is NOT a fast deliverable. Certainly not... but within 3 years this should be nominally available within this price range. Cheaper bikes will hide this data, quality bikes will not.
    Let's hold Specialized ,Trek and the other big names to task on ***motor performance data*** I can think of one company that would love to set themselves up as the benchmark, and should supply great graphics ...... Highest regards,

    I agree with your complaints on the battery door, and have nothing but good things to say about this bike during my ownership. The price sucks, but it's hands down the best all around bike I've been on. My favorite trait has to be the cornering. No bike has ever inspired as much confidence in turns as this one!

    Bought a turbo Levo comp last summer, starting out this month for more as the mud season continues here in upstate NY. So far I have had no problems, nothing serious. Mine as a 2021, the charging port door does seem problematic. Three are times when my power shuts off and a tap on the charge door fixes the momentary power loss, I will engineer a solution. Bike does not enjoy functioning when it gets really dirty, gears etc. Shortened by bars up some, too many trees in the northeast.
    So far…….really glad I choose the STLcomp.

    You are so great for doing this. I have a relatively new Levo SL and it stopped running. I had forgotten to put on the speed magnet when I swapped wheels. My bad. It suddenly occurred to me that these things can break and I don't really know how reliable the bike is. I assumed because of the brand it should be like a Lexus. So far so good.

    On the motor, I'm hearing a lot of riders are getting an overrun error riding in Turbo with the software at 2.4.2. Since you ride in Turbo a lot I'm surprised you're not having that problem.

    I have the S6 as I’m 6.1 and big boned 😂 and a novice, going to rake in head tube cup set to drop the length. I have found my limits down very popular 700ft trail, through tight rock gardens right, steep drop offs, fast sections on my back door step, and it’s saved my backside numerous times. No major falls, it’s just perfect all round axe to get me back out there.

    I love this bike!! Best bike ever :-). The only issue I had so far is the little door... I snap it when I was riding it open itself and it cost me 60$ to replace it at my local dealer.

    I have a 2022 levo expert, owned it for about 3 months now it’s a great bike apart from the motor had a strange clicking noise from the first ride so I took it to my local dealer (race-co cycles UK who are great) and although I did not purchase the bike from them they swapped the motor under warranty and it’s been fine since then.

    Rode my 2021 levo comp 2000+ miles on Vermont’s rocky rooty trails midsummer to fall - zero issues, awesome bike, climbs everything. Can’t wait till the trails thaw/dry out and so I can get back to riding with a smile 😀 meanwhile 🏂❄️

    Hi guys, great review! I get mine since September and already change the drive unit after 500km. Coffee grinder noise issue, Specialized changed it under guarantee. Now I have a new drive unit without any mechanical issue but with a significantly louder noise, even louder than the EP8 or Bosch. I asked Specialized and have the explanation that it is due to more reliable pieces....but with more noise. So totally agree with the review ! If you are looking for a quite drive unit, go for a Powerplay, if you want a bike that kick your ass, buy the Turbo Levo Gen3 !

      Updated comment: second motor changed under guarantee, 280km, belt issue ! The 3th motor is working but very very loud, seems that I will have to replace one more time ! What the hell of poor Brose German quality motor for a 11k$ bike !

      @@FulTrotl Coffee grinder noise when pedaling, have changed 4 times the motor, 2 carbon frames and still excessive noise and vibrations when the motor is warm. Could be a major 2021 Brose production weakness....will see if Specialized will find the origin of this issue and how they will handle it with appropriate communication. Same symptoms has the Loam Wolf Crew experimented when they got the test bike for the review.

    I’ve a Gen 2 model with the 700 watt battery and after a year the motor failed within a 1000 or so miles and Specialized did the decent thing and stumped up and not only supplied a new motor within a week, but extended the warranty to 4 years. I believe the 2.2 version motor has better seals, needle bearing and belt, however reading the other comments, it still seems like there is a way to go. While I am riding the bike in hard wet conditions here in the north of England, Specialized need to be more in tune to the fact that for many that’s what a typical mountain bikers do in Northern Europe. On a plus note, my buddies are riding Gen 1 bikes and we commented that nothing else serious has gone wrong, just every bike has had its motor replace and most batteries have failed and again have been replaced under warranty which is a pain in the ass. Looking to the future with a replacement battery costing north of £1000, Specialized should do a trade in service to reshell them for environmental reasons, technically the batteries should be good for over 1000 charge cycles.

    New Gen 3 levo owner here. I just bought the $9000 Comp model. I bought an S2 after test riding a couple of them at my local shop. That blew my mind because I've been riding a large frame Decoy for 4 years and honestly the S2 feels similar to that frame. The S4 felt way to stretched out for me. I'm 5'9 by the way. The only issue I have had so far is that on occasion the motor faults out mid ride and has to be restarted. This has happened to me 3 or 4 times in about 250 miles of ride time. Unfortunately one of those times was in the middle of stage 4 at the Arkansas Enduro race and it cost me a lot of time. Specialized support told me that the motor lost connection with the battery according to error logs. I feel that the power connection is to blame and that excessive vibration can cause it to lose connection momentarily but I can't confirm that. Now before every ride I press it into the socket as hard as possible and so far it hasn't done it again. All in all, this bike is incredible and one of the easiest bikes to ride fast on that I've ever owned. It's soooooo good.

    Nice review as usual. I have to say for how much these things cost I would have a hard time getting one with those ugly colors on the carbon frames. Might have to down grade to the Aluminum and would be nice to have a review of those models.

    Thanks for another great video. That was very informative.
    Last September I was making a decision between buying a 2022 Levo and a 2022 Kenevo SL. I wasn't sure if the Kenevo SL was powerful enough for my 6'4", 300lbs frame, considering my 70-year-old muscles aren't as strong as they used to be. It seemed that the lighter Kenevo would be a better handler than the heavier Levo. Unfortunately, test riding a bike before ordering one is impossible these days. I was a bit put off by the motor reliability issues on the previous version of the Levo. I read one article that said the Mahle motor in the Kenevo SL is very reliable since it has double seals and doesn't use a belt drive.
    I did decide to purchase the Kenevo SL. I am very happy with it except that I struggle up hills and into a stronger headwind. At my age, the full-powered Levo probably makes more sense. Can you comment on the Mahle motor's reliability?

    I’ve had my 2022 Turbo Levo Pro (like yours) for 2 months now. I love it so much. I wish there were more tutorials on just how to perform maintenance and adjustments for the rider who is not a mechanic. I can’t do manuals on it yet, still practicing. It’s feels heavy when I try, but maybe I’m just afraid to tear it up at 13K. When the battery eventually dies, will my Turbo Levo Pro just become a ‘bricked’ bike? Will we be able to purchase a new battery? Will Specialized make better batteries in the future that will fit this bike? I hear horror stories of the lack of support from other brands and their e-bikes. Thank you. Oh yeah, the drop tube. It sticks and is not smooth. Is it just me?

    People say this is too much money for a MTB but if you can't afford it then that's on you. It's an amazing bike if you can afford it. If you want certain things in life then you have to work for it, otherwise be happy with what you have and don't hate on others for having the drive to get what they want.

    I'm trying to decide between the specialized turbo comp carbon, or the $9,000 version of this bike and the Santa Cruz heckler seat carbon for 2022 which runs about $8,200.
    I'm leaning towards the specialized but I sure wish it came in other colors than black. That said it seems like a terrific bike.

    Great overall long term video review on the Gen 3 Levo. You changed out wheels and brakes etc and maybe I missed it in the video but can you tell us the actual mileage you put on the motor/frame on this bike over the test period? Looking forward to the upcoming shootout!

    Mine got the harness and motor replaced under warranty in the first two weeks. The bike would turn in when bumped. They were great though. I also blew the free-hub in less then 200 miles.

    Great review ! I recently bought a 2022 s works turbo levo and agree with everything you said. Unfortunately my motor has also been getting more noisy and now making a clicking noise. I emailed specialized a week ago to see about replacement of motor but still have not heard back anything. For a $15K price tag I would expect way better quality control and a faster response and fix from customer service but other then that it’s a great bike just worried I will be without a bike for a while if motor fails if it’s a long process for replacement

      @@2011buddylee Weel they are replacing my very noisy motor that has yet to fail completely. Bike shop did say it was a matter of time though. Maybe take it to a Spech dealer and let them contact Specialized? Here in Oz service seems much better than another brand I won't mention. So far any way.

      Don't call Specialized, just take it into your local Spec shop and they will replace. Even if you purchased the bike second hand with proof of purchase. Just a matter of time if it's making noise. Many shops have those motors on hand, they just need Spec to validate serial # and authorize.

    I want this emtb but im having issue with sizing. Im 174cm and i tried s3 and when turning my knees are about to hit the handlebar so i tried s4 and it feels too big. I guess S sizing is not really for all. Any of you experience this? Thanks

    One thing most reviews miss mentioning is the rider's power output data which can be displayed either on a Ant+ unit (ie: Garmin) or the new TCU display on the Levo. As a rider who actually pedals a lot, I like the option to see this data and verify my effort level with the built-in power meter.
    I'm a 61 year old, ex-road racer and still pretty fit. IMO, if you like to ride (ie: pedal) like I do and only want some assist, there's no need for a full-on version. I demo'd a Levo for a few days and felt it was, pretty much like all full e-bikes, just too cumbersome and heavy to enjoy all round. It left me feeling beat up and sore especially from carrying through unrideable sections of trails (downed trees, etc). While the max torque was novel to experience, meh, I like to ride for the most part and really didn't like being on what felt more like a half bike half moto.
    My decision went to the slightly underpowered SL, where it provides mostly adequate support for me (interestingly, it's enough for single track climbs but lacks the power for flying up fire roads in the same manner as the Levo). However, to me the SL feels like a regular Stumpy but with some assist. It'll probably be another decade, in my 70s, before I may be ready to ride a moto, err, Levo. I expect by then we'll see some really nice, light weight high torque options.

      We sound much alike, though I gave up road a long time ago. Recently I almost pulled the trigger on an Turbo Expert S3, but held off for a couple of important reasons, namely the SL ... So here I am, still Jones'n on a carbon Epic & Sumpy.
      May I ask for input regarding the workout on eMtb? More specifically the HIIT? (high intensity intervals) I find high intensity intervals a important part of my workout, and I rarely get as much as I should. Are you still getting Intensity on the SL? Would you still get it on a Turbo? Are you getting more or less intensity on eMtb than on an non-eMtb?
      Intuitively I'd think that eMtb mean more saddle time, more aerobic exercise, but less high intensity... am I right? Or are you expecting better results, so you work with higher intensity on an eMtb?

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’ve not tried the Levo, but feel the SL is the better, more enjoyable bike for me. I ride a single speed hardtail on my local trails and love the workout so the Levo seems overkill for the experience I’m looking for! I just ordered the SL :)

    As I get older the idea of an ebike gets more and more appealing. The cost is a barrier for me and my other concerns are upkeep and replacement issues with the motor. I've heard of ebikes that needed the motor replaced and it was out if warranty and the motor cost just as much as the bike itself. Yikes. The last thing is the sound/noise. I'm not sure I love hearing that whir all the time especially if it gets louder. I love a quiet bike and just the sound of my tires and dirt and the sounds of nature.

      I hope you don't mind if I jump in to your comment. I have a 2021 Levo Comp. I currently have almost 2000 AZ. desert trail miles on it. I would say I'm a fairly aggressive rider and don't hit everything perfectly. My Levo makes me better than my skill set.
      The motor noise is barely noticeable with wind and tire noise on our gravelly trails.
      Durability...in 2000 miles I had a centerlock rotor nut come slightly loose once. That's it. My neighbor has a base Levo and we just replaced the outboard bearing on his Sram freewheel. He weighs about 60lbs. more than I do.
      I'm 90% riding in ECO mode and get roughly 70-80 miles on a charge.
      Because my Levo is so trouble free I have been able to update the fork and shock with a 44 offset 170 Zeb Ultimate and a 210x55 Ohlins rear shock. I bought both slightly used and sold off the stock stuff.
      A good friend just bought a Gen 3 Expert. I recently rode it and it's really good.

      @@2011buddylee yes I have the 700wh battery. I seldom use trail or turbo. Our trails are generally no more than 400 to 500 feet of elevation. Lots of small variations like creek washes but not much big elevation. For instance our last ride was 22.23 miles and I used 144wh. I'm also roughly 165lbs with riding gear.

    I have Trek Rail carbon now (with Zeb 160mm). I could make it a mullet and put longer stroke shock (possibly extend Zeb to 170mm).
    Or... I'm thinking about Levo Carbon now. Does it ride better? (I enjoy mainly trails going down, I also have a DH bike for bikeparks).
    Also recently I started to look at Kenevo SL - 16.5-17kg without battery?! I could use it as a normal bikes sometimes ! but then, I loose half/full day battery :/
    WDYT ? Is the Levo Carbon way better choice than Trek Rail ? going down, handling, etc.

    My expert also gets louder during a ride. But it's so loud you can hear it a long way off. 500kms on the bike. Now in the shop for a motor replacement. Bike is great. Service seems pretty good. Still some motor issues to sort out. And the charger door should have never gotten past the prototype stage...

      Sorry, what? 10 - 12 rides later you need a new motor? That sound bogus!
      Re the charger door: Why doesnt the door open the opposite way? Why isnt the hing on the other side of the door? Pedaling would close the door rather than tear it off the housing if it opened the other direction.
      What am I missing? ?

    Great review, I loved how you explained every thing about this bike.
    I am in the market for a new Levo and trying to decide if I should go with the Alloy or the Carbon frame. I was told carbon may be prone to break on an ebike, I am 66 years old so I will not be jumping or doing gnarly rock gardens, is the weight difference worth it?

      Unlikely that you’d have a greatly altered experience by going alloy. Other components like suspension and brakes are more important.

    My alloy comp just showed up! Getting a 38 performance elite up front. Plan on keeping float x for now, but might get an x2 later, problem is I have never used an x2 so I don't know what I'm missing. Guess I will see if the bike feels like it needs more?

    It's interesting when the marketing department get their hands on something, the lengths they will go to, to justify the cost of something, and here is a prime example, the use of the word turbo. This has been used to give the impression it's fast, which is simply not true, because this bike is limited just like the cheapest bike in the range, so a customer will be getting something they could assume was faster than an ordinary levo, because most would assume, associating a word like turbo, would mean something is faster and therefore better.

    Did they improve the power delivery of the motor? I remember testing the older one and it was tune in a way to I guess show off its max power, but that made it unusable for slow, technical sections.

    Been on this bike 2 summers now and been riding the pivot shuttle sl which was gonna replace this bike . But after riding it for only 1 month . I’ve noticed I really really love how this bike feels so supple of the top and the power is so damn good hard to downgrade . Damnit . Glad I didn’t sell it . Works for all trails and turns the flats into pure fun !!!!

    Ive been torn between the Orbea Rise Hydro H30 or the Turbo Levo! Which one is better in terms of longevity, Brose 2.2 vs EP8 RS, and Ride Quality?

      If you're talking full power turbo levo, then turbo levo all the way. But if you're talking levo SL, then the jury is still out. We need to put more time in on the Rise Hydro before we can give a solid recommendation.

    I have a 2019 and I think while being a great bike (I did have to get a new motor after about 6 months of riding Southern Oregon) the cost makes no sense to me if you want one kitted out. I wish Specialized would sell frame/motor/battery "sets" throughout the ALU/Carbon range so there were more ways to control the cost. The cost just doesn't make sense to me based on the components you get depending on the model. Your comment about "personal wallets"...hummm naaa we need to hold bike companies accountable for excessive prices; 13k is ridiculous.

    Hi loam team, Thank you for the trade.. I am looking to buy a Levo in s4 or s5 being 193 cm tall, which is outside the specialized recommended range for s4. The reach of 500mm in s5 seem to be super long. However I am afraid the bike would not be that playful/popy that large. I tried both s4 and s5 (unfortunately just on a parking space), while s5 felt more appropriate for my height. What would you recommend? Maybe s5 with shorter stem if not nimble enough? Many thanks

      That’s a tough one. Most of our crew prefer to ride more playful bikes, so we go for a shorter option when possible…so long as it’s not cramped. You may like the s4 if you prefer a more playful and nimble bike.

The guys at the bike shop also said if you really want a dirt bike Ebike s4 might be okaish. So I am facing the question when is small getting to small. Does one of you break out of the specialized relatively wide ranges like I would do by 6cm with an s4? What reach would you classify as short for someone wir 193/194cm (obviously depending on stack, but in the world of modern geometry) Many thanks, it is highly appreciated!

    i've been considering getting an E-MTB as a "secondary" bike, and I'm considering the Specialized and the Orbea Rise . would love to hear a detailed review of the "Levo SL" since personally i'm not big on the look of the bulky motors and would prefer something a lil more sleek and stealthy

      They have different feels for sure. The new Heckler rides a bit more "light and lively" it feels lighter on trail, bounces and hops, manuals, plays better by a little bit. The flip side is that I'd say it's not quite as composed in rough, chunky hard charging DH stuff. From there you get into geo, battery, motor and value elements, which are even more suited to personal preference. We've not yet got enough miles on the new Heckler, and while we do REALLY like that bike, for our terrain (chunky DH, rocks, roots and high speed chunder) we like a more supple and soft suspension. If we were on flow trails and stuff that was not extensively long and rough, Heckler is more fun there.

      @@TheLoamWolf thanks for the great breakdown. I ordered the 2022 Heckler R build and will be switching out the lyrik select with a fox 38 and the rs SD select with a fox dhx2. (I care more about suspension than weight or drive train.) I imagine it will handle rougher terrain a bit better and I still get good pop from my dhx2 on my sb165. Bullit seems like a little too much though for most of my riding outside of the park. First ebike for me, so hoping I like it as much as I think I will. Thanks again for helping us out so much

    I got the Sworks levo a month ago and the Heckler AXS. I wonder what your thoughts are on one vs the other. Personally I am not happy with the Heckler so I am in the process of selling it. The levo does every thing better than the Heckler in my opinion. Personally I think if people can afford it a Levo and Rise combo are perfect. I go back and forth during the week between the two and I always find something to learn. Also curious to what you think of the levo with the 22 Rail and Giant Reign E+ (if you have access to it). I have the 21 Rail as well and I find the Levo is a more capable and plush but not sure about the new rail.

      thumbs up. my neighbor has both Rise and Levo SL. He just bought a second Levo in Turbo not SL. Interestingly he chose 27.5 & 27.5 on the turbo .. not the mullet. Which brings me to my question: is your Heckler 27.5 or 29'er ?? the 27.5 feels so light and quick. Is that the difference you are feeling? Roll over?

      @@captnhuffy my Heckler was the Mullet. Roll over and comfort for me. The levo just does the Mullet a bit better. ​The levo suspension is also more suited for the big hits than the Heckler while being the same weight.

      ​@@charlesrichmond4414 First thing was I ordered at 29er they gave me a mullet and didnt really care to make it right. The Sworks Levo is the same weight as the Heckler and absorbs everything a lot better. Levo managed to get an X2 and 38 in for the same weight vs the 36 and Super Deluxe Ultimate. The levo also has more range the the Heckler and more power. I say this as I am used to the EP8 I had the old heckler and the Rise, but as a Full power Ebike I think Santa Cruz was close kinda but compared to the Rail and Levo falls short in just about everything. If neither the Levo or Rail (I have the old 21 Rail as well and I think that even is better than the 22 heckler) exist you could be happy with the Heckler, but they exist and so the Heckler just ends up falling short yet again this year.

    My review having owned one for a few months now is a slight inconsistent power delivery, the mullet is crap - if far rather have 29er all round, suspension is ace, the red paint on mine is the best colour on any Levo so far, the seat hurts my arse, battery life for this weighty chap is around 40 miles with around 3500ft of climbing.
