1982 fuel injected, turbo charged, computer operated.
    Honda's masterpiece of technology.
    2,500 we're produced in 1982.
1,200 went straight to motorcycle technician schools, to be taught to classrooms.
Only 1,300 hit the dealerships showroom floor, for sale.
Just remember to let it idle for a minimum 30 seconds,
before turning off engine when parking,
and oil supply to still spinning turbo.
Don't rev up, right before turning off key.

@@ianmangham4570 Can you believe this @mixerD1 dude? Here is an excellent example of what Honda was doing from both a technological and style standpoint in the early '80's and this guy thinks that the engine and components are of poor quality. Who really cares if the engine and components are not the best that there was at the time? I can't say with any certainty what those two things on this Honda are like in regards to their quality but a bike like this should be applauded just because of what it represents. That being a very low milage motorcycle that is in excellent condition after being built almost a half century ago. You will rarely see such a fine example of any bike that was built 41 years ago like this one was. It is currently sitting in a museum which is a very good place for it all things considered. Then along comes Mr @mixerD1 and with his "Meh" it's engine and components are crap. Some people just can't appreciate excellence when they see it. Not necessarily excellence in the bike itself but excellence in the fact that someone had the foresight to preserve something so well for future generations to see in the evolution of motorcycles. I normally am someone that likes see beautiful examples like this get used for what their purpose is. To be ridden as a motorcycle in this case. This motorcycle however might be better suited to simply sitting in a museum where a lot of people can marvel at it's preserved excellence. My reaction when I saw this motorcycle was "Wow" and certainly not meh.

I took off in second gear low rpm to full throttle as the rpm’s increased I felt his body moving backwards a little but when I shifted into third his feet left the passenger foot peg and I slammed on brakes saving loosing him off the back . Will never forget that day and neither will he .

  • @grabir01

The history behind these Turbo bikes is that insurance companies quit insuring them due to the danger factor. These bikes have violent power curves similar to 2 stroke race bikes. Honda tried to cure this going to a 650 turbo. Honda could no longer sell them and donated most of them to colleges and tech schools to use as training for motorcycle mechanics. These turbo bikes make about the same power as a liter bike of the day. Around 100hp or so at the rear wheel if you run the boost up a little more which is easy to do. Being they only weigh 400-450 lbs or so, you get the idea. Yes. They are fast. As in Very. They are also dangerous as off boost, they only make around 45-50hp as they are low compression motors so off boost they do not make as much power as their non turbo counter parts. When they go on boost, they jump to over 100hp. These are not for the timid or inexperienced. They require knowledge and experience to ride properly and not kill yourself. As any bike does... These only require more of it. The bike most likely to kill you was the Seca Turbo which I bought new from a dealer in Longmont colorado who could not sell them and left them in the crates for 10 years and then decided to sell them. By then, insurance companies did not know what they were any more and I was able to get insurance. I simply told them it was an XJ650LK. So.. I got insurance for a 650 Yamaha cost 69 bucks a year full coverage. The reason this bike was most likely to kill you was it had piss poor brakes. Ok fronts, drum rear.. Yikes!! Ran my boost up to 21 lbs. Fast as heck. A thrill ride like no other that was hard to stop. Sold it after riding for a few years off an on. Had the jimmy Carter Speedo so you never knew how fast you were going. Came in handy when a Trooper stopped me and asked me how fast I was going? I answered honestly and said.. I have no idea!! Instead of taking me to jail, he let me go with a warning.. I sold the bike after that incident. There were many involving cops with this bike.

Yeah nice find you guys. Very rare. Boy, this one looks cherry!
But a flop in the salesroom.
All four Japanese manufacturers jumped on the "turbo" band wagon.
But really the only one who got it right was Kawasaki with the 1984 E1 and 1985 E2 GPZ750.
An interesting note about this bike: Honda produced more than 230 patents for its components!
It was also one of the first production bikes to feature computer-controlled fuel injection.
The turbo design was also - well weird! LOL From the turbo mounted in front of the engine, air traveled to a surge tank, and then through reed valves and intake tubes into the cylinder head.
The whole operation was controlled by a mini computer in the tailpiece, which got continuous feedback from multiple sensors.
    Typical Honda over engineering.
But still a nice bike to have in your Honda collection.
    Thanks for your great videos.

Man, that's a familiar sound. I had one for about seven months that I commuted on. I loved that bike, but kept having to replace little pieces like brake lines and such, because the bike was 30 years old.... Unfortunately, I had to sell it and get a metric cruiser purely for the sake of reliability. I sure do miss that turbo hit at about five and a half thousand, where it just shoots forward like a laser beam!
You can tell whoever's riding it isn't used to the engine. You just have a certain way of using the throttle, where you can just "float" the engine at the right rpm, and granny that thing all around town using no fuel, but when you needed it, that turbo was always there, like immediately!

We have one in our city too. A guy who owned a Honda dealership has it and it has low mile on it. I hung from the ceiling for many years at the dealership

Very cool… wish it had the red white blue scheme but very cool still
Have to come look at it

The red, white and blue color scheme was exclusive to the 1983 CX650T, which was the last year Honda made the CX model. All the 1982 CX500T's looked like this one here.

Ken- start an online motorcycle auction site. Like bring a trailer. But bikes only. You can probably do well having your hand in ever bike sale thats worth something!

We are trying to do that but we hired a programmer that jerked our chain for about a year and took a bunch of our money and still don't have a site I'm gonna have to post a video to ask the community if anybody knows how to help us in where we can buy a site from

Maybe reach out to these guys, www.radforsale.com/ the car group that formed rad wood had it made. As far as auction sites go, seems like a real slow start with a small inventory. Maybe they would sell if it does take off as projected.
