Engine Knock Sensor Problems

The knock sensor is a piezoelectric accelerometer that acts as a microphone on the engine. It converts vibrations into alternating current (AC) signal. When the crystal inside the sensor is vibrated, it produces an AC voltage.
The greater the vibration or shock, the higher the voltage and frequency. In this video we discuss how a knock sensor can fail, testing and diagnostics.

Good information. My car is a 2005 volvo v50 t5, I had a heater hose break, and all sudden the engine goes limp and oil light turns on. The vehicle is in limp mode. When I get it toa shop, turn the car off. I can not turn it back on. I had to clear a knock sensor code. the vehicle DID MAKE A rattle noise, which i heard of this from low oil. I don't know if the car fuel system makes the car run a different level to cause noise. What happens next is weird. I clear the code, put in another quart of oil, so now I a little over the reconmended capacity. Fix the hose leak, put in more water. the car starts, no noise ... sounds normal. So my question for you is, how much damage or sensor reading failure can Very hot water on sensors cause an engine? I kinda suspect there is possible damaged electrical. the car is 2005 with 193k miles, and was mostly in North Carolina, where salt on road can cause ALOT of previous damage. I had an issue with a battery, replaced that, and not issues at that level, but I have an interior fan not working, and sunroof not working either. But for the main point, I am concerned about how tough these engines are, what default "limp" conditions can prevent, and how to do test checks on this engine without having to drive it hard at some remote location and get stuck.

could this be why my Automatic 2000 honda civic lost power? like almost no reaction to the gas pedal while taking off from a stop?

I SCANNED MY INFINITI I30 1999 AND IT BROUGHT UP A P0325 KNOCK SENSOR ERROR
P0300 MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE, P0135 OXYGEN SENSOR MALFUNCTION.
PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP. THE SYMPTOMS I SEE IS THAT WHILE ON MOTION I CANNOT MOVE FAST AND THE GAS PEDAL IS NOT RESPONDING WHEN I DEPRESS IT UNTIL I TURN OFF IGNITION, KINDLY HELP
