      Was kind of sad. The end of an era for me, really. Had it for 10 years and literally put blood and sweat into it. A young father purchased it and I'm glad that he now has a reliable ride.
      Thank you for the kind comment!

    I took my car to a muffler shop in Chicago because I had my check engine light on...They told me that I needed a new "knock sensor" ... They said they do not work on those. I have to take my car to a mechanic. I thought to myself...I thought you guys were mechanics.

    Your tutorials are incredible. I rebuilt my f22a1 with your how to. Finally bought factory manual , for start up fine tune procedure/wiring diagrams. I've moved on with another vehicle B18a1.

      The cool thing about these Hondas is that there isn't a giant learning curve working between the B, D, H or F series platforms other than the twin and single cams.

    Be aware!
    There are a lot of knock offs amongst the knock sensors!

    where did you buy the rebuild parts or kit for the f23 your working on? I have a f23a5 (dx) that is burning alot of oil and getting ready to rebuild with some friends of mine.

      Company named Evergreen Engine. I purchased their f23a1 kit from Amazon. Try eBay Motors as well.

    Hi, Thanks I have a '02 Acura RSX, with the 3025 code, and 1457, which is emissions. Is it possible these inter related? And with a new sensor, Do you just use the factory replacement$$ or if an aftermarket one is OK, I see an aftermarket with a 3 yr replacement warranty. My local mechanic say aftermarket ok.?? Thanks

    • @ktecgarage
      @ktecgarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had an aftermarket knock sensor that only lasted a year. OEM is usually best, but if you have a warranty and don't mind swapping it out, you should be fine. P1457 is a problem with the gas tank evap system and I don't see how that could be related.

    • @terrythomas790
      @terrythomas790 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ktecgarage Ok thanks! Both problems came up at around the same time, and thats why I asked. Actually I was hoping it was related lol
      Swapping the sensor it will require me to remove the intake manifold. I just put a new starter last year , and removed the manifold then to get to it. I used a new gasket as well then. Do I need to replace that as well , again? Just wanting to order everything together. Thanks!!

    • @ktecgarage
      @ktecgarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah. K series. If I did it myself, I'd try to reuse the gasket. The right thing to do is replace it.

    Can I install a knock sensor on a honda block that doesn't have one? And where on the engine are alternative spots?

    • @ktecgarage
      @ktecgarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe??? Honda puts them under the intake, so maybe you can find an unused mounting point and tap it to fit. I'm assuming you have a PCM that can read the signal and retard the timing.

  • @bmw-e30
    @bmw-e30 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Well explained. Wondering how older engines compensated when they do not have a knock sensor to inform the computer to make adjustments. I recently changed a knock sensor on an Audi which solved the sluggish acceleration but the mechanic warned me that while the code reader showed a knock sensor fault, the problem could be something else like a faulty coil but luckily this was not the case.

    • @ktecgarage
      @ktecgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think they did anything to compensate. I remember having a new CR-X back in the day and it pinged like crazy on 87 octane.

    What would happen if the Valve adjustment gap is slightly too tight on any cylinder? Would that cause a knock?

    • @ktecgarage
      @ktecgarage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depending on whether it's is the intake or exhaust valve, it might cause backfires and/or misfires. Not sure about pre-ignition.

    • @waverider5751
      @waverider5751 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually if you go too tight on the exhaust valves, they have a chance of not fully seating on the face, and this will overheat the valves that aren’t fully closing.
