My tip : explore grains and flours in Asian indian grocery stores. There are many different kinds of frozen vegan foods in store too. Like steamed IDLI, SAMOSA, VADA, SAMBHAR, VEGETABLE BURGER PATTY, VEGETABLE KEBAB, ALOO TIKKI, AND THERE ARE LOTS N LOTA OF SNACKS plantain chips, rice crackers, spicy noodles, papad crisps, tapioca chips, and many flavors of pickles in oil. Patel brothers store has all good quality foods.
Some brand names to try are
    DEEP : FROZEN FOODS
    SWAD :GRAINS AND LENTILS
    HALDIRAM: FROZEN FOODS
    DAWAAT RICE
MOTHER'S RECEIPE : PICKLES IN OIL

yesss this is such a good point. a lot of people tend to disregard non american cuisine when going for alternative diet options and that makes it so much harder to find a variety in food choice. adding different cultures foods to your pallet provides much more volume to your options.

I was vegetarian for 5-6 years then one day, January 23, 2003 I decided to go vegan. I find it easy. At first my meals were boring and lacking, but I became enthralled with nutrition and soon became confident that I was getting everything I needed. It’s also nice being able to quell any concerns from friends or family about my health. The hardest things for me is the haters and nasty commercials that my friends drool over

Does your diet rely on store-bought plant based meat and other store bought plant based products? I try to go vegan (still can't exclude dairy completely) and what I experience is anxiety that I can't get enough satisfaction from vegan meals even though I try to use plenty of beans, lentils and tofu and thus top every meal with something unhealthy (mostly sweet and made of flour). There's no way back, but now I am so much afraid that I will end up with poor health not because of lack of protein or nutrients, but because of extra processed plant-based store bought products I would finally go for lacking satisfaction from food made of whole ingredients. I would really appreciate some shared experience from the one who has been vegan for 18 years!

I feel in addition to writing down things you already eat that are “accidentally vegan”, to also write down your new vegan recipes that you try so you never forget all the great things you can make. I find myself eating the same thing or thinking “d*mn, what do I eat?!” Because I forget all these great dishes I’ve made. If you write it down (like your own personal menu) it makes it easier on you when your shopping or just got off work and want something tasty but don’t want to think too much about it...
I haven’t done it yet, but I’m sure it works.

I have been at this for 7 years now, after first trying to be vegan many years ago and going back to being a vegetarian(who no longer bought leather, wool, tallow soap, etc.). Nowadays, it's really easy. I barely think about my consumption choices because they are automatic after a couple of beginning years of reading all product labels and looking things up online diligently. It's a practice, veganism is a practice like Buddhism is a practice; it's a lifestyle you never perfect but which you are always striving to do better at. Good tips here, MIDF Fam. Happy New Year, and TFP : )

Well I did go vegan overnight. I went from standard American omnivore, meat in most meals, to vegan basically immediately. I had a few meals I made prior that I had saved that I ate. I'm also very aware this is extremely abnormal. I came to it via ethical conviction and it was strong. I had been convinced it was right, but when it clicked, there was no way I could continue.
I'm watching this to assist my wife who is currently taking the slow transition route. A lot of good tips in here. My wife is a very picky eater and I wasn't. That made a big difference.

However, in 2020 I tried tofu in different ways and finally found that smashing it like mashed potatoes really helps tofu suck up the soup/sauce/spices I am cooking in. I taste less of tofu. Now that I have tackled tofu, I am in the process of giving coconut a second chance by trying to eat it different ways.

I’ve been on a back and forth journey with this. I switched because my fam has a lot of health issues and I wanted to get ahead of it. Then I started realizing my recovery times after working out went way down. Switched back to pork and chicken and my body was not with it. Back in it again, going for it.

i have always worried about nutrient content and have watch so many beginners guides i have lost count months ago.
the best advice i have found only in dribs and drabs is .... consume ...
1/2 plate of greens like broccoli, cauilflower, cabbage, lettuce, kale or spinach
1/4 plate carbs, meaning starchy veg like potatoes (inc sweet) or rice, barley, quinoa ect.
1/4 plate of protein eg beans, lentils, tofu or Tex veg protiens
    snack on nuts and fruit
more info like this would be so helpfull xx i am no expert and 8 months in still struggle with the basics like above

Yes I stopped smoking cold turkey. I had people ask me what patches I used and I said none. I didn't use patches to start smoking. It was hard, and I still want one once in a while. People are a lot stronger than they think they are. So cold turkey vegetarian is so possible.

‘’Brush off other people’s opinions’’, that is not engaging people so not being an advocate for the animals, we have a duty to the voiceless to be their voice. Which means engaging criticism to wake people up to the horror demonstrating the need for compassion, and encourage people with information/reasoned and logical debate 🌻✊🏽🌎

100% agree to brush off other people's opinions most people give you a hard time over their own guilt don't ask me why I'm vegan ask yourself why you're not

I gradually became vegetarian and vegan, looked amazing for several years. Then I had some stressful situations, pressions and gave up to veganism. I want to go back to veganism and never give up again, but it seems more harder than first time.

just found this video, going to start a vegetarian/vegan diet. I am SO GLAD to hear a vegan say they hate mushrooms! lol. I hate mushrooms and almost EVERY vegan recipe has mushrooms in it, i'm like "does every vegan love mushrooms??..i'm in trouble" lol. but great tips and please send me good vibes on this new journey! Great job.
