    After one year of being vegan I still crave pizza, burgers, capuccino, tiramisu, ice-cream and so much more, all of this in the vegan version, which I love so much more, because I don't feel guilty anymore by eating those. Food in general feels so much more comfortable and good and I have never enjoyed eating more than I love it now as a vegan. Honestly, it really blows my mind, I didn't expect this when I started.

      i'm 2ish years in and i don't crave animal products anymore... i mean sometimes if i smell cookies my mom is baking downstairs but now I know how to make them myself or what to buy at the store. I think once you're in it for a while your brain kind of just doesn't see it as an option so it's not a craving.

    I used to be an ex vegan. I am deeply ashamed that I allowed myself to go back to hurting my friends, even temporarily. I took responsibility for my actions and I am now vegan again for 4 months. I will never quit again. It was my fault I didn't eat enough the failed the first time as I had an eating disorder, the vegan lifestyle was never to blame like so many ex vegans like to say. You are well and truly beyond the majority at the moment, keep it up and you won't go wrong! This is a great reminder to others, that if something doesn't feel right, investigate it, test it and find the problem, to fix, rather than avoid. Your body will only thank you over and over.

    To be honest, after 2 years I forget I'm vegan sometimes. Not in the way that I eat animal products and realize that I wasn't supposed to eat them, but in the way that it's just such a core part of me that I don't even consider it an inconvenience or sacrifice. When people find out I'm vegan for the first time I always laugh and say "Yeah, I guess I am." It's such an obvious choice to me that I'm always surprised people are very much opposed to vegans existing.
    Thanks Ed, your gentle demeanor has helped me have some great discussions with people about veganism, and while I haven't turned anyone vegan, I still get texts from friends and family when they make vegan meals which is a start.

      I wanted to change that, and I did by joining Anonymous for the Voiceless. Twice a month I speak for the animals with people on the street, and each time, many say they will have a look about it or try to be vegan. By now, I must have turned at least one :)

    When you think about it, most of the nutrients that people say youll be lacking if you stop eating meat isn't true, because most of those animals get those nutrients from vegetables so you can get those nutrients from plants.

      It happens to me too. Remember another one: If they really care about plants suffering pain (that don't , but.. ), remind them that to keep animal farms, more plants have to be consumed than for a vegan trade. (I learned it in an Ed video). I understand you anyway, sometimes is frustrating. I'm quite sure someday in the future we will remember this as the beginning of what's right, so I don't mind a bit of frustration now. And again, the peaceful and well documented way of Ed to chat with non vegan people is an inspiration. Keep it up! 💪Peace and love ☮️✌️💖🌿🐾

    I went vegan, because I almost had cancer in my uterus, because of the hormonal unbalance that eating animals provoque me. I went vegan and my hormones were back in their normal track in a month. I didn't need any surgery to remove the cancerous cysts. When I was an omnivore I couldn't menstruate for 7 months, and after 1 month of being vegan I could finally bleed, and my body healed... Veganism save me from cancer. And I couldn't be more grateful. I'm thriving.

    I never liked eating meat and eggs, I hated the weird chewy/gooey chuncks and random textures in them, never liked the flavor, and always disgusted by what animals had to go thru to put this food on my plate. I would always gag eating things like that but I would force myself to eat it anyway for nutrients. I have always gravitated towards plant based foods and meats. Every vegan I meet/see have the clearest skin, which is something I wanted for years! I’m done, I’m gonna do research about getting all my nutrients in and I’m gonna become vegan!

    i couldn't imagine the ultra healthy life id be living if I saw this in 2010 when I initially went vegetarian. It was SOOO not enough for both my my health, the animals, etc. I've been vegan for 4 years and it was the best decision I have ever made and I don't even eat healthy lol
    Once I quit the shit and got rid of animals products in my gut I have never felt better. This is a super saiyan god diet to say the least...
    Veganism stopped my constipation problems, boosted my energy to goku levels, increased my stamina and cardio health tenfold, lost ALL unnecessary body fat, gained a higher sex drive and actually grew a full inch within the first year, required less sleep and only need around 3-4 these days instead of the usual 9-11 hours I needed before, stopped sweating at night, have no heartburn now EVER which is ridiculously amazing for me as I used to struggle to eat anything 4+ years ago, got healthier and fuller hair instantly, cured my joint and back pain, healed all my acne and continues to keep it away, now have zero depression or other related mental struggles, the list goes on......
    GO VEGAN FOR LITERALLY EVERYTHING GOOD IN LIFE: YOU, THE PLANET, AND THE ANIMALS WHO HAVE DONE US NO HARM AND ONLY WISH TO BE FREE.

Every day I find something new that's vegan - chocolate praline, Ben and Jerry's vegan range, Costas 'cheese and ham' toastie, Pizza Express pizzas. I get just as excited about dinner as before, and yet there is a massive weight lifted off my shoulders in that now I look at cows and see a beautiful creature that I want to spend time with and stroke, rather than moving food.

It has been another 2 years and his pediatrician said that most kids are lean and his dad was too as a kid. I only wish I had stuck to my guns. Currently a vegetarian (but cut my animal product consumption by A LOT in the last few weeks). The more I get the hang of plant based nutrition and learning to meet my needs, the more vegan I become! I'm planning on also bringing hearty vegan dishes to family get-togethers (they are very meat and potatoes. Also give me a hard time about being plant based). Just so I can actually eat at those events, but also in hopes that my family tries it and become open to eating plant based.

      Going vegan is a process, not everyone is in the position to go fully vegan from one day to the next.
      So even if you're not fully vegan, you can consume less animal products meaning less animals will suffer.
      Also, if you live with your family, try to propose a vegan meal or vegan day in the week or something. Show them that vegan meals aren't weird and it might change their minds over time.

      It's tough, especially when you don't have independence from your family yet. I went vegan as an adult so when my family asked me to join them at a BBQ restaurant for dinner, I politely declined since I knew there was nothing for me to eat. During the next family get together, they were sure to pick a place that had vegan options because they wanted me to be there. If they didn't respect my lifestyle then they wouldn't have gotten me to go to a place I didn't want to be. But since they cared about me, they found a way to accommodate me and themselves. If your family doesn't respect your wishes, they don't deserve your respect back.

    Hi Ed! 👋 I hope you see this comment - it’s an old video but I felt the most fitting for this. I know you most likely don’t have time to reply, but I just want to show my appreciation for you and all your work. I’ve just recently gone vegan, after being flexitarian for years. I was aware of some of the environmental impact and I did know some of the evils of the egg, dairy and meat industry for a few years now (though definitely not all and none of the fish industry) but kind of blocked it out and justified it by telling myself I was eating so little meat and drank plant milk so it wasn’t THAT bad.. but I knew in my heart it was wrong and my sense of guilt every time I ate an animal product kept weighing down on me. So I decided to go vegan for veganuary this year…and I now want to carry on after this month too. I did much more thorough digging into all the horrors of these industries this time - watched countless documentaries and tons of videos, a huge majority of which have been yours! I’ve also just finished your audiobook and got the paperback for my parents to read. I’m so hit with the impact of all this extra knowledge - particularly the documentaries and your chapter on animal cruelty too and I feel ashamed I have put this off for so long, but as you say, enough is enough. I love chicken and cheese, but it’s simply selfish to carry on eating them. All your videos plus your book have really helped motivate me and assure me this is the right decision. I now see that I was letting my cognitive dissonance win for years. I signed up to support you with a small donation each month as I think your work is so valuable and you make such an impact. I admire you greatly in your talents for sincere but gentle and calm debates and helping meat eaters, especially those who avidly defend it and see nothing wrong with it, see things from a new perspective, whilst also helping those teetering on the edge of veganism like I was take the final plunge. I hope your audience continues to grow and you reach more and more people!! And thanks again. You must’ve saved so many animals already and the planet will be thanking you too!

    I think since I've become vegetarian (and trying to become vegan) I've discovered so much about food. Literally, in normal plate you do in a meat based diet is so concentrated around meat that you don't take the time to try to have good vegetables or originality with it. And when I've become vegetarian (and becoming more and more only plant based) I've discovered so many flavored and everything around beans and vegetables that I don't regret a bit my decision ^^

    Good video. Some friendly feedback:
    1. In parts of the video, especially the earlier part, the music was a bit too loud and distracting
    2. ***Also, I've noticed that Cronometer (the free version online, not sure about the app) has some flaws. For example, if you add in say "Eden, Organic Black Beans, Canned, Unsalted", the amino acid profile doesn't fill in, which might throw you off thinking that you're not getting them. Even if you put in 1000 servings, those amino acids don't fill in at all, a definite error.

    • @NickBlackmore
      @NickBlackmore 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      With Cronometer, don't put the brand in. Just put Organic black beans. Unfortunately it only works properly with whole foods, because with brands it only takes into account the "nutrition" label on the package rather than the food itself.

    • @thoughtsandprayers
      @thoughtsandprayers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's not an error. That's simply a matter of data not being available. Data on individual amino acids is available for staple foods through the big government databases (USDA for example) but not for specific commercial products. And it never will be, unless the manufacturer provides it, or you estimate the amino acid profile based on the raw ingredients.

    • @aSyMbolden
      @aSyMbolden 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've noticed this too with certain things in cronometer!!!

      If you just put in "black beans, canned, unsalted" it would have a more accurate nutrient profile

    I thought veganism was extreme. Now I think its extrem to choose torture and killing over just eating plants. Furthermore its also humans that are dying in order to feed animal "product". Choosing to feed a "steak" instead of a starving human child with grains is really extrem. Now a suffering cow for us "rich" people is valued higher than a human from a poor country. Without animal "mass production" the cow would not suffer and the humans could end starvation. Even if you view animals as soulless and emotionless (which is scientificly proven false) all those fields of soy and grains now used for animal farming should go to humans first. The more animals you save from being born into captivity (living hell) the more humans you rescue as well

    'It's not about what you lose, it's about what you gain'. Love that phrase, and so very true. I've learned, and am still learning, so many new skills in the kitchen, including taste and flavors, what herb/spice goes best with what food, and having so much fun having the confidence to experiment.
    And being vegan is not simply going through that door and stating, ok, I'm fully vegan. It's very much a learning curve, getting rid of bad habits ingrained into us over a lifetime, veganism is a way of life to aspire to. Information and knowledge is the key. In the year I've been vegan, I've made mistakes, but learned from them instead of beating myself up about them and then moved forward.
    As always, another awesome video Ed, thank you. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into this channel. It's been a source of inspiration for me, and I'm sure many many others.
    Much love and be safe.

    this is really nice! I've been vegan for four years now, but it was never difficult for me. I also stopped eating most processed sugar and random ingredients with dubious safety as well at around that time.
    I could really use to keep better track of my nutrients, especially since I started working out a bit, but I've felt pretty good.
    I often feel like I can't really talk about going vegan since it was so easy for me and I never had an aversion to eating simpler foods. Well, there are some I can't stomach in their plain form like lentils but there are plenty of options for me.

  • @markgriffiths6988

    I still eat meat but far less than I did a few years ago. A small portion maybe once or twice a year now and that's only 'special' occasions such as Christmas dinner (I live outside of the UK and I miss our Christmas so much). Apart from that, I rarely eat dairy if ever. The only thing stopping me going full vegan is eggs. They are so ingrained in me that it's hard to give up. But I'm trying! It won't happen overnight, but I'm working on it such as swapping cream for coconut milk when making a curry (I make a banging chickpea curry by the way) and a great vegan chilli mac. Plus my vegan ragu is great (vegan beef instead of 'normal' beef and no panchetta). And thanks for the fish oil tip. Will defo have to look into where I can buy them.
