I think I’m allergic to literally every type of eye make up! I keep buying new stuff but can’t even tolerate wearing it for more than 2 hours. So depressing.
Whenever I wear mascara or eyeliner, my skin around my eyes BURNS so bad, turns red, gets wrinkly and I can’t stand it. Then as soon as o remove the makeup, it burns even more. I’ll try to put moisturizer on and I almost can’t stand the burning. I’ve had to just quit wearing eye makeup and it makes me so sad!
@@shanemargarett i have the same problem but i do not have an allergic reaction while putting the eye makeup on but it happens when i take it off especially when i wear mascara my eyelids turn red an d wrinkly as well, do you have any solution??
@@ghitahaddou210 this is what happens to me too! It gets worse when I take off the mascara!! I usually moisturize it using vaseline and putting on glasses to not expose the area. But it always comes back :( i think cause it was winter in NZ
@@ghitahaddou210 Try using the Vaseline Lip Therapy Original. I've been using that to moisturize my eyes whenever I feel that it's dry. It relieves the itchiness. I'm not sure if it's alright to use it in the eyes but it helps me.
My *eyeballs* turn very red when I wear almost all eye makeup. They tear up a lot too. My skin isn't the problem--it's my eyes. It's so frustrating. I wish I knew why! I do have a lot of allergies and sensitive skin too. I use only fragrance-free skin care. Edit: I was told that the micellar waters aren't good at removing all the product you're removing. It leaves a residue on the skin. That sounds yucky! I have to thoroughly rinse with cool water after I double cleanse. 🙂
Could be dry eyes. Try using eye drops and a hot compress for 5 mins on your eyes then massage your eyelids. There's videos about it. I would visit the optometrist too just to be sure but that's the issue I have and that's why
I have the same issue!! I used to wear all the eye makeup I wanted back in high school but now I have to be super delicate and “light” about what I put on around my eyes. My eyes get so red I have to use redness relieve eye drops! Which I hate because it’s a constant routine when I wear makeup. Plus redness relief eye drops everyday can be so damaging to my eyes :(
You have naturally beautiful eyes! If I didn’t know, I would have assumed you already had eyeshadow on. You have a natural gorgeous color on your lid. And as always I appreciate your expert advice. I have extremely sensitive skin so I always steer away from fragranced makeup or skin care. But in my early days trying products I would have no idea it causes irritation
Linda’s Channel thanks so much!! My mom always said my eyes always looked like they had eyeshadow on them even when I was a baby!! And totally agree about the fragrances.
I would love to see more product reviews! Like you, I have very sensitive, dry skin. I have never found eye makeup (liner, shadow, anything) that doesn’t irritate my eyes and skin around my eyes. I would be overjoyed to learn about safe options! Plus, makeup is so fun, and medicine is a big interest of mine, and I would just love to see more videos about beauty with a medical perspective. Thank you:)
Yes!! And, I feel like women are scared to ask their male ophthalmologists or optometrists these questions. My husband is an ophthalmologist too and if he's ever out of the office and I see one of his patients, they always ask me these type of questions. That was the whole reason I even tried the magnetic liner b/c one of my patients asked me about it!
Good point! My male ophthalmologist once told me that he recommends zero eyes makeup to all of his patients, which I took with a grain of salt. He could only see the cons and wasn’t knowledgeable on the subject because he had absolutely no personal interest in it. It is refreshing to hear from someone who is an ophthalmologist and knows the subject of makeup from personal experience!
This happend to me when I used Glossier's stretch concealer! I used it for months and one day, my under eye got all swollen and itchy right after I applied. Kinda sad because it was my favorite, but blessed that I quickly identified the culprit!
This past week I have been overwhelmed with a horrible allergic reaction in and around my eyes. Finally realized it was a DIY hair spritz with "rose" water. Come to find out it was rose fragrance in a brand that had changed it's ingredients. I washed everything! My hair, my bedding, my hair bands etc. Finally calming down. I need something with no chemicals and no fragrances or essential oils. Still looking.
I just send this to my wife, she has been going through this for two days and has been freaking out thank you for the info I’m subscribing for future knowledge thanks
Thank you thank you and thank you once again. I have learnt so much from your video. I am suffering from same thing eyelid reaction under and over the eyelid. I would like to request you to please write the name of your recommended cream or ointment. I couldn’t catch the name properly in the video. I watched few times this video. Please help me because doctor gave me 1% hydrocortisone ointment eumovate. You are beautiful without makeup and makeup does enhance your beauty. I really appreciate your help.
@@DrRupaWong ❤ I have extremely under eye darkness!! I agree your beautiful even without make up ( BTW I rarely give compliments ) I'm extremely allergic to so many products used for the eye/ eye area I've tried so many different beauty products and my eyes get itchy, red and swollen!! What about Even Better Clinical™ Radical Dark Spot Corrector + Interrupter have you/ or anyone tried that one before? ❤ ✌
I used micellrwater to remove eye makeup. Bad idea! My eyes stayed swollen for 2 days. Now I have dry patches on my eyelids and they are still sensitive and even more irritated. I agree with you to be careful.
Please go over which eyeshadow, concealer and eye primer to used. I have really bad atopic dermatitis. I have had the dermatitis since I was a kid. Now it is worse around my eyes area. I do love to wear makeup.
I’ve been struggling as well and I lovvvee makeup. It makes me sad that I can’t wear anything around my eyes because I don’t know If it’s mica, titanium dioxide, mineral oils or etc that I’m allergic to 😢
I feel like it was the micellar water I used !!! But I thought it was a new eye cream I also started using ...my eyes are so itchy rn. Glad I came across your video
I'm not sure what happened, but I now have a chronic rash/flares, especially on one of my eyelids. I have stopped wearing eye makeup with the exception of a little mascara at the tips of my lashes. I actually I noticed this rash started when I began wearing masks. I need to go back to wearing only 100% cotton masks that I hand wash with very mild soap. I think my drugstore makeup is contributing to the problem, all of it with the exception of my lipstick. When the rash clears, I am going to go back to my Mineral Fusion (not a pitch, I've had good luck with this line ) makeup and pray that It stays under control.
Thank you so much! You are so trustable. I used a eye makeup but I didn’t realise that it caused allergic reactions. So under my eye had a rash and was stinging, I thought that it was fine and I kept using that same eye makeup, the next day my eyes were really REALLY puffy even though I clean it every night but, during the day I felt I looked good, I like the way I look in that particular eye shadow, and then I realised it WAS the eye shadow and the cream. Because I looked the ingredients (like you told me) and there was alcohol in it! I stoped using it and started moisturising. (Like you told me) and I still have some stinging but overall, SO a much better! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I used a bunch of new makeup all at once. I'm blaming it on the eyeliner bc it's just that area. Now I'm unsure if it's from another makeup product after watching this video 😓
Dr.Rupa you look beautiful without makeup! I also have dark eyelids, I’m not so happy about it. But when I saw your eyes I loved the look!!! It looks majestic with and without makeup 😍
Thank you so much! I have allergic dermatitis I think. I suddenly developed allergic reactions to strip on eyelashes. No matter what glue I use, sometimes even eyeliner does it. But I can wear them all day, they start to itch, il remove them and then my eyelids swell, very itchy, red and the next few days they scale, dry dead skin. It’s awful! Your video helped me understand, thank you!
Hi Dr. I discovered I'm allergic to a very particular ingredient in makeup when my eyes used to get swollen, red and with more pronounced dark circles when I used to use eyeshadows with the Carmine ingredient, ever since I had to get rid off mostly of my eyeshadows and buy vegan makeup or sort of it like, I always read the ingredients on eyeshadows so what you'll recommend now that you mention it in this video. Excellent info. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
My mother in law did my makeup yesterday and I woke up this morning with my eye lids red and below my eyes they're red too. Thank you for your advice. Only one thing I don't wear makeup & this is actually my first time wearing makeup since 7th grade & tomorrow is my daughter's high school graduation any advice on what to do about the redness around my eyes.
When I turned 35, I suddenly developed an allergy to eyeshadow...all eyeshadow. I could still wear eyeliner and mascara. Then ten years later I became allergic to eyeliner....then mascara. When I was fifty-six I had permanent eyeliner put on my eyelids and LOVED IT...because at least I had something to make me look alive. Plus I always looked awake because the eyeliner was always there. I've had the permanent eyeliner (a tattoo is all that it is) refreshed twice because the ink fades quickly on my thin white eyelids (I'm 66.) I found that I could now tolerate some mascaras for a few hours but had to get it off ASAP when I got home. I also found that I could use the Clinique eyeshadow pencils. But usually I just go out with my permanent eyeliner. If I use any other makeup or leave mascara on longer, my eyes are glued together in the morning.
I wore makeup all throughout middle school, high school, and college and now as an adult my eyes burn whenever i use eyeliner or mascara. It sucks because I love wearing makeup
I have same type of allergy under my eyes what you explained. Today i have appointment with Dr. For the same reason. Very dry & sensitive skin. Also sunscreens does suit me which was prescribed by Dermatologists only.
For years I've thought that I'm allergic to all eye makeup and it's been rough because my job requires makeup. I sat down and looked up every ingredient in products that both did and didn't cause flareups, including things like eye creams I haven't had an issue with so I could also rule ingredients out, and created a document with ingredient lists with the most likely culprits color-coded for risk level. Then I looked up the substances in a cosmetic allergy patch test and made a spreadsheet to check things off, just to make sure there wasn't some low-risk ingredient I was overlooking. Knock on wood, but I think I have an allergy to Propylene Glycol. It's in so many things, including food, but I'd rather avoid one ingredient than never wear makeup again. ewg skindeep was a huge help.
My problem for years!!!! So I never put anything on my eyes anymore not even an eye cream 😔 I have dermatitis. 🤧 Bioderma micellar water works for me though. It’s my go to make up remover.
I used to wear eyelashes all the time in 2020 all of a sudden in January 2021 my eyes started having allergic reactions every time I put my lashes on. I’ve been using the same glue, I even switched it up to a better eyelash glue and it left my eyelids red, swollen and itchy for at least a week. I went to doctors and they kept saying it was my actual eye which was very wrong. It was only my eyelids. I don’t know what to do
Same here! I was never allergic to it before. I bought all new makeup, lashes and glue just in case the others had expired and it made no difference. Maybe my eyes just need to get used to having makeup again but I can’t even wear light mascara anymore. I never had this problem in the past :(
Fabulous video. My go to moisturiser for the last 30 years suddenly changed formula and now my skin is burning and the skin around my eyes is flaky and dry and tight. I am struggling to find another moisturiser that doesn't make my extremely sensitive skin flare up.
oh no! That's one thing people don't realize too, that even if a moisturizer doesn't change formulations, you can become allergic to something that you've used for years. Hope you find something good!
My eyes get puffy a little red and then they dry out and flake. They don't get itchy or painful . I'm using the same type of makeup I've always used and now my eyes hate me. Now I'm scared to do makeup.
I would definitely see your eye doctor. There are a lot of reasons for eye redness and s/he may be able to prescribe you a low dose steroid drop or ointment
Yes I need some eye makeup recommendations. I also used the micellar water and immediate irritation. My eyes even get irritated after hair washing but I have got that for the most part, under control. I went to a physician and told him my eye make up was causing swollen eyes he said stop wearing it:)))). No seriously, I only wear hypoallergenic, which you said does not mean any thing. But since Covid I'm home so I haven't been wearing any. I only wear eye liner, mascara help.
Sure! I like Nars concealer, Trish McEvoy eyeliner and Better than Sex mascara usually, though I've been trying the lashify lashes lately (just posted a video on it)
@@DrRupaWongomg...I thought that better than sex mascara sent me to the moon!! I got the WORST eye infection from it. My eyes were on 🔥 fire. Horrible! Apparently, after reading reviews, there were so many of the same scenarios reported. I couldn't believe the burn that came from that. Ugh
Thank you so much for your great video. I have given really bad reactions to some moisturizers and pretty much all eyeshadows, foundation, concealers (except Tatcha pearl cream) and lipsticks.😣 they started so suddenly a few months ago and I'm really tired of try and error. Seems like everything is destroying my skin. :( Please help us with finding makeup more suitable for sensitive skin, especially around eyes... Thanks so much ❤
Yes, I think so many of us with atopic type skin suffer from this. Great idea for a video - I will definitely do some research. Sometimes, we just have to take a break from everything - basically detox. It sucks I know. But at least we're all wearing masks right now.
@@DrRupaWong thank you.❤ that is true, I am so fine to do a detox if I know it will help with future flare ups, but I can't stand the idea of never again wearing any make up.☹
Hi! I LOVE your videos... so helpful! What undereye concealer do you use? I think the one I have been using is causing the allergic dermatitis around my eyes.
This happened .i don't wear foundation ever .but I tried something that had fragrance ..and another cream..i had a reaction..i have allergies and asthma ..Thank I'm gonna look at the ingredients of the things I think are safe ..Honest You look very beautiful before the Make Up :) Again Thank you so much
I just stumbled upon this video. I have major food allergies. I still have no idea what caused hives. I think it was a water cream I used. I am looking for a good eye cream for a 40 something that doesn’t make my eyes water. My eyes hate retinol!
I have had to avoid all make up due to serious allergic reactions causing my face to swell and my skin having other bad reactions. It’s been a struggle to find hypoallergenic makeup that doesn’t bother me... any suggestions, ladies?
That's so tough. Sometimes it's the smallest ingredient that can cause a reaction. And, definitely, don't be fooled that natural is always better. I would try things with the fewest ingredients that way you can pare it down to figure out what you're allergic to. Good luck!
There is nothing worse than wanting to wear makeup and being scared to try anything because of reactions, feeling you wasted money, finding products locally, and more. It is also challenging when you don’t know what specific ingredient(s) you are reacting to. If possible, try to see an allergist to help identify what ingredient(s) you may be allergic to. Once you have your results, become a member of SkinSAFE.com. The website will allow you to filter products that are free from your known allergens. Additionally, I would recommend exploring VMV Hypoallergenics. The company not only provides ratings for each product to help identify products with the most absent allergens, they can develop customized products based on allergens you need to avoid. Best of luck!
I’ve noticed several brands use those buzz words you mentioned and others on their packaging, specifically eyelash glues, but when checking out the ingredients list, those items are present. Do you have any eyelash adhesive recommendations for people who get contact dermatitis from most ones on the market? I’ve had many reactions and all have resulted in swelling, redness, and eventually scabbing/peeling on my upper eyelids. Thank you for the video, it was very informative!
Here is a video I have posted about eyelash glue: th-cam.com/video/ADT-nnVeI7Y/w-d-xo.html Please let me know if this answers your question. Thank you for your comment!
This was helpful. 7 years ago I developed allergic dermatitis. It was so bad, the day after my wedding (I had someone do my makeup for the wedding - big mistake) I woke to eyes that were so puffed up like balloons, red, sore, itchy, affected my vision they were so swollen. My poor husband!! It's only been that bad a couple times, but I can't wear any of the makeup I used to wear. I haven't found any eyeshadows I can wear now at all. I can't wear the same foundations I used to. I have to moisturize with LaRoche Posay and cleanse with Cetaphil (both recommended by my Dr). Scents REALLY affect me, but obviously it's other stuff too.
I used to wear eyeliner, concealer and mascara daily now I can’t wear any, I still wear concealer now and then, and I suffer for it. I find blinc mascara to be ok to wear on special occasions. I use Tarte concealer which is meant to be for sensitive eyes but not for me. If anyone has very sensitive eyes and can recommend some eye make up products I would love to know.
I got reaction wit eye products like under eye cream and even mascara . I developed blepharitis . Eye cream was Estée Lauder and someone I still get one eye itchy when use Estée Lauder products on my face . Now I’m so scared of eye makeup
My Ophthalmologist gave me antibiotics and a cream to apply every night.he believes I’ve gotten Blepharitis, but I believe is more like an allergic reaction to what now I know, Estée Lauder Renew Eye cream
Hi Dr Rupa, great video. I have itching of the eye and sometimes eye tearing. Especially from Mascaras and liners. Can you recommend one I can try that works well for very itchy eyes? I have tried many.
I was never allergic to eye makeup before but lately I can’t even keep mascara on for more than 2 hours. Idk if my eyes just need to get adjusted to wearing makeup again cuz I haven’t worn much since 2020 but I bought brand new makeup and eyelash glue and I get uncomfortable after about 2 hours and if I don’t take it all off it literally becomes painful.
Dr Rupa, Thank you for the informative video, it was very useful. I also have eyelid dermatitis, and it's awful. What make up brand and skincare regimen do you use or recommend?

I've been wearing eye makeup for years, and now when I apply it I get super itchy, red, swollen eyes and it creates these heavy eyebags because of inflammation. And im just so lost 😭
I have stopped using eye makeup for 2 weeks..No changes... Still same..I bought an eyelid cleanser, it irritated it and puffed it up.....😥 In fact now have EXCESSIVE tearing...😥
Thank you for the video when you mentioned micellar water I was like yes I used it for the first time a while back and I think that dryer my skin around my eyes and one of my eye lids. What are good eye moisturizers. I stared to develop dry patches and puffiness
Hi doctor, the browbone part of my eyelid sometimes droops but then it goes back to normal and I suffer from a lot of allergies, is that related? I never had any procedures or anything :(
I have whatever u said it, sometimes red eye, pure white eye, sometimes itchy eyes, sometimes small yellowish dots on my eyes, some times I feel like something like small sand/stone inside my eye thanks.
I used a new foundation yesterday and wound up in the ER this morning. I still have so much pain, swelling and my eyes are blood red. I had a shot of steroids and steroid eye drops. I am absolutely miserable
Hello Dr.! I have a problem with my right eye being too sensitive to any type of make up I put on it (as strangely as It sounds - only 1 eye). After the whole day of wearing eyeshadows with a base for 1 day, I get red, painful eyelid with small "pimples". If I dont put on eyeshadows at all- then its fine. Ive been using same products for a long time and It was a shock to me that I got an allergy now. (But as You mentioned, it can happen). How do I know what type of makeup to look for now to avoid such problem? I am scared to buy something that is only going to irritate the eye again (for now I was using Nyx and Anastasia Beverly Hills). Also, I thought that allergy should be symmetric. Why is it only on 1 eye?
I have experienced twice in the last couple days a stye on my eye lid. Due to a mascara, I figured it was the mascara. Because it had a scent of apple cider vinegar, which I read it means it's no longer good. This is the first time I deal with an allergy to makeup and let me say it's very painful. What mascara would you recommend? My skin is also sensitive and dry as well.
My eyes has been getting watery out of no where. I think it’s my eyeliner, or mascara. I’ve been using it for years. I did no eye makeup today and no watery eyes.
Dr Wong , I have contact dermatitis and cannot wear any products on my face . Please recommend a sunscreen that won’t irritate sensitive skin . And , is there any make up at all that people like us can wear? Thanks
I have never had a problem with being allergic to any makeup in all the years I’ve used it, and I bought Mac eyeshadows from the Mac counter (so they were legit) and when I put them on my eyes they instantly got itchy, and the next day my upper eyelid was covered in flaky skin!.
I also had these reactions I have discovered a product called bismuth oxychloride is a derivative of nickel and even some iron oxides that aren’t nickel free cause my eyes to break out. Mac products have lots of bismuth oxychloride in them. If you can’t wear cheap ear rings that aren’t nickel free you may be allergic to those ptroducts too.
Certain brands like Lireal and Covergirl I know I am allergic to. But then sometimes I wonder if my eyeshadow hits a point of too old or if my brushes are introducing something. Experiencing redness, itching swelling if eyelids. Some burning too. How do I get you ingredients list for what to avoid or a list of products that won’t cause this? Thank you
Determining which ingredients will cause a reaction really just depends on your own skin. Do you have a specific makeup you would like me to review? I'd be glad to add it to my list! I do have a video explaining when to throw out your makeup that may help! I'll link it here - When Should You Throw Away Eye Makeup? Eye Doctor Explains:th-cam.com/video/-zDoJKgRtpE/w-d-xo.html
I need a suggestion- my allergy is caused by moisturizing my eyes. I obsess over finding moisturizers that have NO: Alcohol Fatty Alcohol Phenoxyethanol Retinol Parfum Parabens Sulfates Fungal acne safe And 3 lotions later, EVERY lotion still causes my eyelids to get red, puffy, extremely patchy and itchy. All I want to do is moisturize my eyelids and maintain youth. 😫 Yet it appears every moisturizer I'm allergic to. Any suggestions???
I also have eye dermatitis and I enjoy doing graphic liner and using pops of neon eyeshadows, but I noticed that it's only irritating my eyes and making it worse. is there any liquid eye liner or eye shadow pallettes you recommend for my eye condition? if you can recommend any this would be really helpful :)
i used adhesive glitter under my eyelids and now i woke up with my eyes puffy and my skin feels itchy and dry and i dont even know if i should go to the doctors but my eyes look scary LOL
Both of my eyes completely swoll up, including my under eyes. It’s happened before where my eye lids have swollen because of a makeup product. I couldn’t figure out what product it was. But now, almost my entire face has begun to swoll up.
As soon as I add eye shadow I start to itch just put some on and had to take off. I stopped wearing mascara because I thought it was that. I can wear the scandalous eye shadow sticks though. My itching is the outer corner of my eyes
I have problems with my favourite eyeshadow that are not the newest. My eyelid become red and burning. I have to put them into the trash. I will buy much much less. A lesson learnt.
Thank you so much for this video, doctor! I've always wore makeup. I love makeup. BUT recently (I'm 55 years old) metallic eyeshadows have been my nemesis! I've tried to read the ingredients on an specific eyeshadow palette that I'm sure was the culprit but there are endless ingredients I can't pronounce! (I'm not a doctor or chemist) so I got rid of that particular palette. My eyelids got very puffy very red and burning but I still wish to wear shimmery eyeshadows lol so I've been using Pataday eye drops and that helps but I'm going to try some of your recommendations! YES please I would like some eye makeup recommendations from you : ) thanks
what really has been helping me a lot is an ointment prescribed by eye doctor. I went to see her about my eyes reacting to makeup and she's amazing and also loves makeup so now I have a remedy everytime I need it! @@Ilpsmilpsm
I miss makeup I love wearing makeup o everyday But I can’t I get so itchy dry and textured and even my eyelashes seem irritated is that a thing? Like my eyelid is too dry so it irritated my lash line??!
Yes that is a thing. Atopic dermatitis can present like that. You should see your ophthalmologist who might be able to make some recommendations. My eyelid skin is like that too and when I am having a bad flare of seasonal allergies, it gets worse.
It can get to that point, I totally understand! I'm so sorry. It is frustrating! Have you seen this one I posted? - th-cam.com/video/fz7KNnU55wo/w-d-xo.html

How u treat your eye
This past week I have been overwhelmed with a horrible allergic reaction in and around my eyes. Finally realized it was a DIY hair spritz with "rose" water. Come to find out it was rose fragrance in a brand that had changed it's ingredients. I washed everything! My hair, my bedding, my hair bands etc. Finally calming down. I need something with no chemicals and no fragrances or essential oils. Still looking.
That's crazy I sprayed my face with rose water & glycerin then my eye got puffy and irritated
Read the ingredients carefully with rose water. The only ingredient should be distilled rose water.
I just send this to my wife, she has been going through this for two days and has been freaking out thank you for the info I’m subscribing for future knowledge thanks
It really is awful ! Thanks for your kind words and hope your wife's case improves!
You're stunning with no makeup 😍
Thank you!!! I'm so self conscious about my dark under eye area as I get older, so I appreciate that!
I agree!
That’s exactly what I said 🤩
@@DrRupaWong ❤ I have extremely under eye darkness!!
Same!!
Please go over which eyeshadow, concealer and eye primer to used. I have really bad atopic dermatitis. I have had the dermatitis since I was a kid. Now it is worse around my eyes area. I do love to wear makeup.
That is a great topic!!! I will definitely do that one. I can't live without my concealer! Thanks for the suggestion.
I’ve been struggling as well and I lovvvee makeup. It makes me sad that I can’t wear anything around my eyes because I don’t know If it’s mica, titanium dioxide, mineral oils or etc that I’m allergic to 😢
@@HelloTruDee I have the same thoughts as you too.
Mine also...just one eye....no mask....no one is wearing them now. I was blaming the vaccine...hope not...but I am 70 and never had allergies
I thought u got makeup on when u start talking u look amazing without Make-up u don't need that 😍
Thank you! I’m definitely critical of my under eye darkening but it’s funny how the things you feel are so obvious don’t even register for others!
Ugh, so sorry! I'm glad this helped you though.
Ooh please do a video all about what ingredients to watch out for in eye makeup, and what brands you consider the safest!
Will do!
I used a bunch of new makeup all at once. I'm blaming it on the eyeliner bc it's just that area. Now I'm unsure if it's from another makeup product after watching this video 😓
just stop it all and slowly add things back so you can figure out the culprit
don't get me wrong, your makeup is really pretty but I actually think you look so much more beautiful without it😍
Dr.Rupa you look beautiful without makeup!
I'm so glad this helped! Thank you for being here! I'm sorry you have to deal with this.
Which eye shadows are free of this ingredients that you spoke of? Thanks .... Great video.
This is happening to my face at the moment- I had to call my doctor because at this point my face is in pain with just moisturizer.
Hey doc pls make vid on how to apply sunscreen on and around eyes and ur everyday makeup routine..love to see..
I get it when I reached 30... oh Lord
What sunscreen??
@@femmedandy wow thank you for sharing this! That’s an incredible insight for others who are struggling with similar issues☺️
please make a video on which coloured eye contacts u recommend
Absolutely, planning on filming that this weekend.
I love this video! Thank you. I have sensitive eyes, allergies and all the above 😁😁
Thank you!! I am so glad you are here.
Elf eye patches burned my under eye. lol swelled SO bad. Still puffy after a week
I'm so sorry that happened!
ELF products have heaps of allergens
I never had this problem in the past :(
Me too! I haven’t ever found a cure or something to use instead. I’ve had to give up my love of eyelashes
I desperately need that list of products! I’m going through this now and have been for a couple of months! It’s been miserable!
I hear you! It really is miserable. I'm trying to organize the videos - I figured an eyeshadow one, eye makeup remover, eyeliner, and mascara one?
@@DrRupaWong it was just the mascara I was using, I threw it out
Yes I need some eye makeup recommendations.
Wait did miceller water give you a reaction??? I’m thinking that’s what’s causing mine
Would you please tell us the eye makeup products that you use? (Eyeliner, lashes glue,concealer...etc)
@@DrRupaWong thank you.❤ that is true, I am so fine to do a detox if I know it will help with future flare ups, but I can't stand the idea of never again wearing any make up.☹
I got allergic reaction from eye makeup..but after that i get reactions even when i dont wear any makeup..allergic conjuctivitis often
So sorry!
Hi! I LOVE your videos... so helpful! What undereye concealer do you use? I think the one I have been using is causing the allergic dermatitis around my eyes.
This happened .i don't wear foundation ever .but I tried something that had fragrance ..and another cream..i had a reaction..i have allergies and asthma ..Thank I'm gonna look at the ingredients of the things I think are safe ..Honest You look very beautiful before the Make Up :) Again Thank you so much
I used to wear eye makeup all the time but since 2016 my eyes get red and also inability to make eye contact with others my eyes would water
I just stumbled upon this video. I have major food allergies. I still have no idea what caused hives. I think it was a water cream I used. I am looking for a good eye cream for a 40 something that doesn’t make my eyes water. My eyes hate retinol!
I used inkey caffeine cream which has retinol. Immediately flared up my eyes. If you’re using this and notice allergic reaction, be very careful.
Thank you for sharing your experience!
I have had to avoid all make up due to serious allergic reactions causing my face to swell and my skin having other bad reactions. It’s been a struggle to find hypoallergenic makeup that doesn’t bother me... any suggestions, ladies?
Tarte clay foundation
That's so tough. Sometimes it's the smallest ingredient that can cause a reaction. And, definitely, don't be fooled that natural is always better. I would try things with the fewest ingredients that way you can pare it down to figure out what you're allergic to. Good luck!
Burt's Bees is all I trust now!
Almay eyeliner and mascara! Specifically hypoallergenic
Here is a video I have posted about eyelash glue: th-cam.com/video/ADT-nnVeI7Y/w-d-xo.html
Please let me know if this answers your question. Thank you for your comment!
Thank you, for informing me on what to look for when buying products.

Omg !! All this time i thought i was suffering from dehydrated skin until my eyes started to buuurn and swoll
This has been hell. It has worsened my depression. I love makeup so much.
Which eye products should be used for eye area
Oh no!! The day after your wedding?! So sorry!
@@DrRupaWong Yes, I wore sunglasses in the restaurant when we went to brunch
I am sorry to hear that!
My Ophthalmologist gave me antibiotics and a cream to apply every night.he believes I’ve gotten Blepharitis, but I believe is more like an allergic reaction to what now I know, Estée Lauder Renew Eye cream
I'm so sorry you didn't have a good experience with that. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Dr Rupa, great video. I have itching of the eye and sometimes eye tearing. Especially from Mascaras and liners. Can you recommend one I can try that works well for very itchy eyes? I have tried many.
It's really painful 😣 my eyelid is killing me! Broke out in little bumps all over my eye 😭
Just went through this on just one eye in corner of eye puffed up never figured out what it was didn’t happen again...
I'm so sorry
Dr Rupa, Thank you for the informative video, it was very useful. I also have eyelid dermatitis, and it's awful. What make up brand and skincare regimen do you use or recommend?

Let me know what you think and what you still want to see!
I've been wearing eye makeup for years, and now when I apply it I get super itchy, red, swollen eyes and it creates these heavy eyebags because of inflammation. And im just so lost 😭
I am so sorry you're having that experience, Samantha! I hope that you can find makeup soon that doesn't cause inflammation.
I have stopped using eye makeup for 2 weeks..No changes... Still same..I bought an eyelid cleanser, it irritated it and puffed it up.....😥
In fact now have EXCESSIVE tearing...😥
Thank you for the video when you mentioned micellar water I was like yes I used it for the first time a while back and I think that dryer my skin around my eyes and one of my eye lids. What are good eye moisturizers. I stared to develop dry patches and puffiness
Thank you! 🙏 This is very helpful info.
Thanks for watching!
I use eyeliner and my eye swolled up . i have not worn makeup since . its going away little by little .
How did you cure it?
@@tajiiii7072 I used a style solution over the counter. I also tossed all expired makeup
My eyes has been getting watery out of no where. I think it’s my eyeliner, or mascara. I’ve been using it for years. I did no eye makeup today and no watery eyes.
I’d like to know why my contacts get foggy when I wear eye makeup. Even if I don’t get any product in my eyes. So annoying!!
Dr Wong , I have contact dermatitis and cannot wear any products on my face . Please recommend a sunscreen that won’t irritate sensitive skin . And , is there any make up at all that people like us can wear? Thanks
This! Helped me you saved my face 👍 very good information!
I obsess over finding moisturizers that have NO:
Alcohol
Fatty Alcohol
Phenoxyethanol
Retinol
Parfum
Parabens
Sulfates
Fungal acne safe
And 3 lotions later, EVERY lotion still causes my eyelids to get red, puffy, extremely patchy and itchy.
All I want to do is moisturize my eyelids and maintain youth. 😫 Yet it appears every moisturizer I'm allergic to.
Any suggestions???
My makeup around my right eye breaks up so bad & it’s only on my right eye !! It’s so weird I decided to throw all my makeup away and buy new makeup
What eye shadow or eye liner would you recommend?
What happened next? Is it okay now?
As soon as I add eye shadow I start to itch just put some on and had to take off. I stopped wearing mascara because I thought it was that. I can wear the scandalous eye shadow sticks though. My itching is the outer corner of my eyes
I have problems with my favourite eyeshadow that are not the newest. My eyelid become red and burning.
I have to put them into the trash.
I will buy much much less.
A lesson learnt.
You're so amazing! Thank you! I love this video!
Same - I’ve worn metallic eyeshadows for a long time and suddenly my left eyelid is now allergic to it. I’m so sad bc I love wearing eyeshadow
