You don’t know how excited I am to finally see something on here about this topic. It was like pulling teeth to get help from my dermatologist. Even to make natural make up. I’m going to try this and see how it goes!!

Lovely to see someone addressing one of my biggest bug bears!! But... my eyes water, burn and turn red as soon as I get near them. I've tried to very gently brush just underneath my lower lashes, but my eyes still attack me! I've tried everything! I just have to go without!!!
My eyes watered so much that some days I felt like I had “tear rivers” coming out of my eyes. I am beginning my journey to better eye health and I’ve had success with laser and red light treatment. After one laser and 5 red light treatments, my doctor expressed the oil glands on my lower eyelids. They were severely blocked and it’s made a big difference. Thank you so much for all of the info about makeup choices, like most consumers, I had no clue about cosmetic labeling!
Best info online Dr! Makeup solutions I've discovered: Switching from pencil (cream/wax) eye liners to liquid which stays put without migrating into my eyes. NEVER tight lining. Using high quality matte concealer (Tarte or Urban Decay) with sponge point and staying 1/4" away from upper AND lower lashes. Applying Almay mascara only on the tip half of my lashes. Using Magnetic Demi lashes if needed. I only wear eye makeup for special occasions and carry OCuSOFT Lid Scrub pads in my purse everywhere I go. My Dr. recommended a daily supplement of Norwegian Cod Liver Oil to help oil gland production and not getting my moisturizer too close to my eyes! All working perfectly!
Thank you! My eyes are so sensitive, fans bother them like you mention, the cold, wind, makeup, so your info is very helpful. I haven’t been able to wear makeup lately so will look into the two you mentioned. Keep info coming, it’s so appreciated.
Hi Rupa! I never really leave comments on TH-cam but your videos honestly have been life savers for me. I have struggled with extremely sensitive eyes and dry, atopic skin for years but it was only last year that I began developing sensitivity to my usual eye makeup, to the point that I now only wear makeup for special occasions. I managed to develop awful conjunctivitis and redness around my skin, but thanks to you I feel more informed and confident (and less alone in my eye makeup struggles!). Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! Love from Scotland 💗
Rupa thank you for this video. I like Molly have a right eye blindness that was caused by Bartonella (from a tick bite) and now an inherited narrow angle glaucoma. Needless to say, I have a lot of sensitivity. I use only three products and never stray from them. I use no eyeshadows, crazy lashes or lots of products on my eyes or face. I am so concerned with the influencers using so many products just to get ready in the morning, Please everyone do not take your vision for granted. When it is gone its gone. Always looking for a pure eye makeup remover, still using coconut oil or vaseline and a soft warm washcloth . I am thankful and filled with gratitude that I still have great vision in my left eye. Not worried about looking high end. Thank you for your info....what a gem of a MD!!!
Such an important reminder. And I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your vision. Love that you use simple makeup removers around your eyes - always the best! Take care
Hi Rupa, I had been wearing the same E.L.F. cosmetics for the last 13 years with no problem, until this year when I developed an allergic reaction to it. I started to develop red scaly skin on the eye lids, very painful burning sensation when my eyes would water and touch my skin. I went without make up for two months and my skin started feeling better. So, after not wearing any makeup, I decided to give it a go. Things did not go well, I woke up the next day with very swollen skin surrounding my eyes, nose and mouth areas. The skin was very red and inflamed. The inflammation did go down by the following day, but unfortunately I developed extreme swelling of my upper lip. So much so that it was almost impossible for me to drink. I took some antihistamines to help settle it and by the next day I am recovering again. Usually take about a week for all symptoms to fully disappear. I am no longer using my old makeup and have since ordered new makeup to try. I'm only on day 4 since my last reaction, so I'm going to give my skin plenty of time to recover before introducing new products. Thank you for all the wonderful info in your video! I'm happy to know now that these allergies can pop up anytime, even after wearing the same products for so many years.
I was a model all my life and now I can barely wear make up and can’t ever wear mascara. Out of no where my eyes became extremely sensitive. I run mascara (waterproof) down my face due to eye rubbing. I run my eyes raw I know it’s bad but to not itch then feels impossible.
I stumbled across your video and I seriously couldn’t be happier!! I had to give up makeup for like 3-4 years because I was dealing with contact dermatitis with painful blepharitis every single time I would try to play with my eyeshadow. It freaking killed me bc I’ve always loved makeup. I seen your video about eye allergies and you pointed out alcohol! Girl!!!!! Everything began to click! I used rubbing alcohol to “sanitize” all my pallets because I would use it on my nieces then spray it so I could avoid contamination the alcohol itself was the culprit the whole time!!!! I would use it to spray my brushes too so I would just be rubbing my eyelids raw with rubbing alcohol even though I thought it evaporated it out it still was enough to irritate my eyelids! I tried makeup a chance again I could cry!😭🙏🏽 I have had one breakout bc I forgot which pallet I’ve spritzed with rubbing alcohol but the your recommendation of You & Eye cosmetics saved my eye from the blepharitis getting to a horrible aching point instead just swelled and irritated with a little bit of an itch. Seriously thank you so much for you sharing your knowledge I’m able to wear makeup again 😭🙌🏽
I am from Mexico and I have super sensitive eyes. Thanks for this video, it's very informative. There's not a lot of information in Spanish about it... Thank you again! 💖
I've cracked the makeup issue on my weepy eyes. First thing is i ONLY use cream products on my whole face. Anything wet. Nothing with powder. I do my whole face and when i set my make up on my face i use a tiny puff rhats dampened. After thats done i close eyes gently and spray with setting spray all over. After it dries i take a clean fluffy brush and lightly dust face of any setting powder that i missed. The key is to not have powder eyeshadows. They will migrate into the eye throughout the day and instantly cause weepiness. The aetting spray glues it all together so nothing flakes off.
So glad I came across this video! Have had dry eyes to a point of not being able to wear contacts or any make-up for years and still get problems. Will try all the things you mentioned, hopefully I can find something that works for me :)
Thank you for the video! I've been makeup free for 2 years after I was forced to stop when my eyes couldn't handle anything anymore, and prescribed steroid treatments made my skin even thinner. I am now in the process of trying to strengthen my skin and find products I tolerate. I have an autoimmune disease and proven allergies to nickel, copper, MI/MCI (often a substitute to parabens!), corn (starch), wheat and likely more that haven't been tested. On top of that I have atopic sensitive and very thin skin, and dry sensitive eyes that don't allow me even to wear contacts and water even from wind or strong enough fan/AC. It really is a struggle to find products that don't swell my eyes shut or make my eyelids burn and flake, even many prescription eye creams give me bad reactions, but found Avène soothing eye cream to work for me for daily moisturising.
Oh my goodness, that sounds so hard to deal with. I am glad my video was helpful for you. That is great you found an eye cream that works for you! Thank you so much for being here and commenting.💕
Wow I'm sorry you went trought all of this. I'm glad to know you found a product that works for you. Avene seems a good brand for sensitivity issues. By chance did you find a sunscreen that works for your eyelids ? Thanks!
Okay so this is completely unrelated but I have a skin condition that crates these little lumps under the skin and I have to do a hot-cold compress to reduce the swelling. The rice and sock idea is actually brilliant because you don't have to deal with getting up to reheat it every few minutes.
Glad this video came across my search… I can’t tell you how many times I apply my makeup and hours later my eyes are irritated and look heavy, baggy, and red .
I remember some of my teatcher said that if you left your makeup on, it could cause eye infections because the eyeliner gets inside the lacrimal side. So it is super important to get everything very well removed.
I'm so sorry you didn't find the advice you were looking for from your doctors. Thank you for being here and for watching. If you have any other questions you would like me to answer feel free to let me know!
Thank you so much for this video!! After 1.5 months of dry eyes and seeing my eye doc for it I just figured out it's due to my eye makeup. this video is excellent in explaining why and how. I appreciate the discussion on better options. Thanks again Doc!
Yes! Yes! Yes! I’m so sensitive to fragrance with my nose, I just assumed my eyes were having issues with that, too. I had no idea there was so much more to it! I quit wearing all makeup bc I was so sensitive all over to it. And it makes so much sense to have eye makeup developed by eye docs. Why did that take so long to happen?! 🤦♀️ Now I have a plan of attack! Do you have a video on proper cleaning of the eyelids? Technique, frequency, etc.
I am so happy to come across your post. I have been struggling so much - thinking it was just something to accept as I am getting older. Because of my age and for insecure reasons I try to put a bit of make up on before o go to work. I am not into make up - keep or minimal and as natural as possible but I also have very bad eye sight and so, even with a x10 mirror, I struggle. I use a dry eye spray which is good but almost as soon as I put anything around my eyes ( and I so want to try help with the wrinkles and hooded eye lids ) my eyes start watering and then I have to use Vaseline on them to help or the constant drying them causes inflammation but the vaselaone wipes the eye shadow away and I look worse than before . I hate it. My self confidence is the lowest it’s ever been . So thankyou for all the advice - I need to look for similar products in the uk bit information is power, right ? ☺️
I'm so glad this was helpful for you. I totally understand about the wrinkles. It happens to us all. And yes, information is power! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Hot rag on my eyes feels good. I don't wear anything. Oh and hot tea bags can help too. I love making tea and using the tea bags for my eye inflammation. I get a nice cup of tea and a spa treatment that helps my swollen eyes.
Thank you so much for your wisdom. I was suffering from sensitivity to eye make-up and you helped me figure out that it was an ingredient that I was allergic too. 🥰
So interesting! I watch makeup videos all the time but haven't worn eye makeup for at least 25 years because I am sensitive. I have to be suuuuper picky about earrings, never thought for a moment there might be a nickel connection.
Skincare, sunscreen and certain makeup makes my eyes blurry. Skincare feels like it moves to my eyes. Sunscreen is worst and cheaper makeup. The dermatologist said it can be common for sunscreen to move and burn and bother eyes. 🤷♀️
My eyelid has allergy to every type of eyeshadows now I am using activated charcoal instead of black eyeshadow. It has been like five years I’m using activated charcoal no side effects no allergies. I buy it as a supplement capsules I open a few capsules and put them in a small container and I apply them with a brush and it lasts forever one bottle till now is not finished 😇💖
I never used to have reactions to eyeshadows. When I went to the Caribbean a few years ago I started having reactions to makeup used on my lids. I switched products, made sure I kept my brushes clean, and still no luck. Whenever I know I have to wear eyeshadow(very very RARE), I make a sacrifice for puffy eyes in the am. Mascara and eyeliner doesn’t cause any reactions, but powders and creams always do. It’s very interesting bc if I would use these shadows as makeup to any other parts of my face, no reaction would occur. I know you did mention lids are the thinnest layer of skin on the body, so that does make sense. I’m excited to try some of your techniques and recommended products! Thanks so much for the info !!!
I have developed a sensativity to some chemical that is in most makeups...I get painfull headaches behind the eyes, dry or burning eyes and it starts with in 15 min of aplying a product . When I take it off it goes away...I have wasted hundreds of dollars trying to find products I can tolerate...after many years I have only found four products that I can tolerate...I wish I knew what the chemical is that I am sensative to
I used a new foundation this past week and wound up in the ER for steroids after I had an allergic reaction to it. It caused my eyes and face to swell up and the pain was intense. It’s 3 days later and I’m still light sensitive and my sight is blurry. I wish I knew what the ingredient was that caused the reaction. I hope to never go through that again.
Ever since I had microneedling sessions for my undereyes things went bad because they were done wrong and ended up damaging my skin. It’s been over a year now but the majority of my undereye area still turns red very quickly when I wash my face or apply cream, anything which applies a bit of pressure ends up making it turn red and looking irritated. This never had been the case before those treatments were done. I can’t even apply my favorite eye masks anymore because all of the sudden two hours or so later the area gets itchy and turns red and very swollen. Almost like an allergic reaction when i never reacted to these masks this way in the past. It’s very disheartening and I cry a lot because of this. I did those treatments because i was unhappy with the darkness under my eyes. This was always something I struggled with and felt very depressed about. Microneedling this area definitely did help and improve my skin there a lot! At times they’re barely noticeable anymore besides on the corners. I was looking forward to go through all of the needed sessions and felt happy for once about seeing these improvements. But thanks to the last two badly done sessions I have this sensitive redness now and I’m scared it might never go away again.
@@DrRupaWong Thank you, I hope so too. I know it's hard to say anything without being able to look at it up close, but does your skin recover from something like this or could this state remain permanent? And is there anything which could help? If it's okay to ask.
When you say to stop using everything (makeup/creams etc).. what do you use during this phase? No face creams/lotions/cleansers at all? Or are there certain ones that you recommend? Also.. what about the rest of the face makeup (foundation, concealer etc).. when it’s time to add it back in. Tia!!
My liner and shadows fall down to lower lid. I thought it was because my eyes water and lids are oily, with or without makeup due to allergies so I got waterproof liner. I can only wear for a short time then my eyes get red and irritated. I will try the hot towel to clean lids. I find cream shadows avoid powders getting into the eyes.
I used to frequently use eye make and false lashes. False lashes have become basically a no go for me, but are also the thing I miss most about make up. Do you recommend avoiding false lashes entirely? Are there any lash glues or lash brands that might be safer

Like the other girl said, I never comment on videos but this was an eye opener lol no pun intended. I have asked my eye doctor too and no one can ever seem to figure out the problem. I have gone through makeup and wasted so much money on products. Thank you so much for this. I plan to follow exactly what you say and hope to finally be able to wear make up without being uncomfortable. Now follow up question- should you do anything differently when you are wearing contacts with makeup? I was using waterproof so nothing flaked into my eyes. For me it was worse when I would try to wear makeup and have my contacts in too.
I second twenty/twenty; it's the only mascara I can wear. I needed to find a makeup remover for it and use Avene gentle eye makeup remover. Am now looking to reintroduce shadows at some point but I mostly avoid eye makeup still.
I usually use coconut oil to take off all make up including waterproof mascara. I have very sensitive eyes within the last year and the coconut oil is still a go to for me as I’ve been using it for many years. Perhaps you can try that?
Thank you for this video! Iv been suffering with sensitive eyelids on and off for the last 10 years where my eyelids get really dry, sore, swollen red and flaky. Iv had an allergy test which came back negative to everything (i’m now thinking it’s likely stress that causes it) i’m getting married next year and am really dreading a flare up for the wedding. But i’m going to have a look and see if I can get any of the products mentioned in the UK and add warm compress into my weekly routine:)
I've stopped wearing eye makeup due to allergies (and laziness lol) but I would like to get back into it. I've gotten a few pallets as gifts over the years so I feel guilty about not using them. Hopefully this helps me!

I appreciate this video. I do makeup videos and often mention having sensitive skin, sensitive lids, allergies, etc. I know I'm allergic to Nickle. Any time I hit pan in a powder product I throw it away, because if I keep using it my face breaks out. My lids don't tolerate pressed pigments, at all. My lids become inflamed, painful to touch, and my eyeballs swell. These effects last up to 3 days. I don't know the exact names of the pigments to be able to point them out in the ingredient list, so I count on the brand stating there's pressed pigments in the palette. So, then I know not to purchase it. "Natural" or "Clean" isn't always good for me because I have allergies against some natural ingredients. Yeah, and I was never impressed with "Opthamologist-tested" or "Dermatologist-tested" because the product wasn't tested on me and everyone with sensitive skin or eyelids don't have the same sensitivities.
Here are some products I use - th-cam.com/users/shortsZJpAK4-Kz4U I also like trytwentytwenty.com products. If you decide to buy from them use the code WONG25 for 25% off. Hope that helps!!
So glad I found this I tried the compresses , that worked 10 mins but still itching like crazy this has gone on for over a week stopped wearing anything on my eyes but I am a natural blonde in my 70’s and I am worried I won’t be able to wear make poor people !! I look scary lol 😂😂
Bonnie, I am sorry you are experiencing that! I hope you can find something that works for you soon. I will link a video I have done on how I remove eye makeup here: th-cam.com/video/KlLwunmqcZ0/w-d-xo.html
I hadn’t even considered it was an allergic reaction I was having to eye makeup. I have severe facial psoriasis, before I never had reaction but suddenly it kept feeling like I’ve been staring so to my eyes wide open at an AC unit with heat at full blast. My eyes sting, burn. Feel like they want to water but I can’t cause it’s so dry. All this time I kept assuming it was psoriasis even though I didn’t see any psoriatic lesions there.
My eyes get so dry and sore from eye makeup. And they always feel so heavy and irritated from all the eye makeup on them too. It really stinks. :( also, eye makeup remover burns the crap outta my eyes! Its so painful!
I literally do makeup for a living and I can’t wear eye makeup without my eyes getting so irritated which makes it hard to market myself. It gets frustrating
Hello Dr. Rupa, I didn't heal from Covid about 3 weeks and found myself tearing all the time. I went to an eye doctor and he wanted me to use a hot steam towel for 10 minutes twice in a day and clean my eyelid for two weeks. I actually did it everyday for 2 months because my eyes still felt dry. Unforntunately, I one day found some bumps under my eyes, so I stopped my routine. How often do you recommend to do a hot pack on eyes? Do I need to worry about bumps under my eyes?
I’ve been through the overly sensitive eyes saga. I’ve been a long time Molly subscriber. Something I’ve learned is contacts aren’t for me. I still haven’t found an eye makeup product I can use constantly. I’ve resorted to using my glasses full time. Thank you for doing this video. It gives me hope that maybe some day I’ll be able to use contacts again…. I m not a candidate to lazar type things due to an eye disability… I’m so used to using corrective lenses that it’s very normal for me. I will say I’m very allergic to many environmental allergies that the thought of using other stuff isn’t even in my bin of things that caused my allergies in the first place. I’ve tried so many brands over the last 20 years that I’m not really willing to try “other brands”. I’ve been “stuck with” MAC brands cosmetics. They have been a fail safe for me over the years.
Hi. I've just discovered via patch testing from my Dermatologist that I'm allergic to iron oxides CI77499, CI77491 and CI77492. I am devastated. I love make up and have an entire house full of it. Do you know of any suitable brands please apart from 100% Pure. Thank you 😊 Xx
I'm having last 6months redress on eyelids but only in area where I put eyeliner and stick eyelashes. Nowhere else. I tried to be like fluent 2 weeks without any makeup and then tried different eyeliner and different lash glue that I used to use but same problem is coming back every time I put eye makeup. I'm left with red liner area that flakes and peel off later...
Its taking so long to listen to all of the video,so could you just name recommendations for Mascaras what are safe for eyes to use for all eye users? Thanks if you'll answer!!
I was told by a Dermatologist years ago just to give up wearing make up. That was his answer. Of course, that didn't help me. Now 30 years later it's worse. It won't clear up. I can't wear makeup. Help!!!
@DrRupaWong no, not for this. I guess I should, I did just see an allergist and I'm told I'm allergic to rubber and other things, too many to mention. I truly appreciate you answering me. I will book an appointment with an ophthalmologist. Thank you so much.
Hi doctor, I suffer from mgd but I’ve got the feeling that something is triggering it too. Should I ask for a patch test ? I so would like to wear eye make up again and knowing what to avoid.
I'm trying to add sunscreen to my daily skincare routine and my eyes keep tearing up even with mineral sunscreens that my sensitive face skin tolerate. I don't put anything on my eyelid, no makeup, nothing. I don't understand why I don't tolerate a mineral sunscreen around my eyes. Are tinted mineral sunscreen more irritant than non tinted mineral sunscreen? Thanks!
@@DrRupaWong that's the first video I saw of your channel :) . Unfortunately I still have no clue how to shop for a eye sunscreen here in Quebec as no one market sunscreen for eyes and I don't know what component of my mineral sunscreen doesn't work for my eyes. I guess I'll have to order online. I'm in Québec so none of those brands are available here. Thank you for this fast response!
I can't put anything on or around my eyes. They swell up and get gooy with inflammation. Even wiping my eyes causes inflammation. I deal with severe allergies and I have woken up to my eyes being glued shut from inflammation. I also have processing disability. My left eye is legally blind from lack of processing. I can't see light, colors and details in my left eye yet my eyes are very healthy. It's my brain that is different. I also have a none verbal brain I don't have verbal thoughts and I can't process speech. I use other processes to translate speech. I can't even use hypoallergenic products. I just keep everything simple. I quit wearing makeup and any metal. I don't put anything on my body that flares up my inflammation. I do know that mineral makeup is good for me but it's a little more expensive than other makeup products. I use to use a mineral makeup brand but I can't afford it anymore. I also got puffed lips from lipsticks. I couldn't believe it how bad it was. My lips swelled up and turned purple after I put on my favorite lipstick. Oh and eye drops don't help me because I am allergic to them. My doctor tried treating my eye allergy and inflammation with drops. I learned not to touch my skin and eyes and try to keep clean by washing my hands. I don't use fancy soaps as well. Dove white bar and jell body wash work well for me.
Hi Dr Wong 😊 You helped me before but I have gotten worse. My Dr has me on prescription drops but my yes sometimes Hurt to bad to open. I am scheduled for eyelid surgery next month. Will getting the excess skin and fat off my eyes and glands possibly help? I'm horrified of the surgery but in so much pain. It looks like I am crying right now.

Hi dr Rupa. First of all thanks for this video and I have also so much sensitive eyes for almost 3 years (and i'm 23) it never happened before the age of my 20. But I can't use any eye makeup products because they're going crazy i mean they are turning red and burn a lot. I can't use eye makeup comfortable. It hurt me a lot cause I'm a woman and i love to do makeup. I have a question actually. Can i use Yves Rocher makeup products? Do you think they are usuful for sensitive eyes?
@@DrRupaWong Hi dr Rupa thanks for your reply first. 🙂 Actually it's not about my skin it's totally about inside of my eyes :( I mean makeup irritates my eyes.
i didn't know eyeshadows had nickel in them! I'm allergic to it, can't wear cheap jewellery, but this just might explain why my eyes itch so bad with some products.. thank you for this video!
I didn't realize it was in some eyeshadows either. I did know it's in a lot of pans. Meaning, when I use a powder foundation, blush, highlighter, when I hit pan it breaks my face out and I throw it away. I never hit pan on an eyeshadow, though.
What's ur recommended treatment for Sjorgens? I have a lot of moist problem on my shoulders, eyes and intimate area. I used the towels btw and artifical teardrops I noticed after sometime they don't work..
Hey Dr, I love love love tight lining my water line but after it feels sore, any good white liners that might feel better, or any tips? I need help lol

You don’t know how excited I am to finally see something on here about this topic. It was like pulling teeth to get help from my dermatologist. Even to make natural make up. I’m going to try this and see how it goes!!
I really hope it helps! Let me know how it goes.

I'm sorry you struggle but so glad you are starting to feel better. Thank you so much! I really appreciate you leaving the comment.
Take care
This was exactly what I was looking for! I haven’t worn makeup for three years because of eye sensitivity issues.
Thank you for taking the time to explain your experience 💕
I was a model all my life and now I can barely wear make up and can’t ever wear mascara. Out of no where my eyes became extremely sensitive. I run mascara (waterproof) down my face due to eye rubbing. I run my eyes raw I know it’s bad but to not itch then feels impossible.
Gosh, that sounds really difficult. I hope you are able to find a reason for this. 😥 I assure you, you are beautiful without the makeup too
I stumbled across your video and I seriously couldn’t be happier!!
Me too. I had too many conjunctivitis due to eyeliners & mascara, micellar makeup removal. My eyelids are always flaky….
So glad I came across this video! Have had dry eyes to a point of not being able to wear contacts or any make-up for years and still get problems. Will try all the things you mentioned, hopefully I can find something that works for me :)
I'm so sorry. That can be so hard to deal with! 😥 Please let me know if these things help you. ❣
The same here I just saw your video for the 1st time thank you. Going to try what you suggested
I can totally relate to your situation because I have the same issue
Wow I'm sorry you went trought all of this. I'm glad to know you found a product that works for you. Avene seems a good brand for sensitivity issues. By chance did you find a sunscreen that works for your eyelids ? Thanks!
I agree with all of you! I have severe dry eye and allergies. I have returned so many products. Thank you!!
Okay so this is completely unrelated but I have a skin condition that crates these little lumps under the skin and I have to do a hot-cold compress to reduce the swelling. The rice and sock idea is actually brilliant because you don't have to deal with getting up to reheat it every few minutes.
I'm glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
@@iraila9032 Removing makeup is so important!
Thank you for taking the time to talk about this.
Sure, I hope it helped!
gosh, i wish i knew this last year 😢
thank you for this info
not one eye doctor explained this
I'm so sorry you didn't find the advice you were looking for from your doctors.
Glad I could help!
Yes! Yes!
Now I have a plan of attack!
Do you have a video on proper cleaning of the eyelids? Technique, frequency, etc.
Making that video this week ! And yes, people dont' realize the impact of fragrances. Even essential oils can be highly allergenic for some.
Thanks for sharing what works for you! So sorry you struggle with this.
Thank you so much for your wisdom. I was suffering from sensitivity to eye make-up and you helped me figure out that it was an ingredient that I was allergic too. 🥰
I'm so glad! Thanks for sharing, Diane!
Can you share what the ingredient is? I haven’t been able to wear mascara for several years now.
So interesting! I watch makeup videos all the time but haven't worn eye makeup for at least 25 years because I am sensitive. I have to be suuuuper picky about earrings, never thought for a moment there might be a nickel connection.
Yes that very well could be the issue!
Skincare, sunscreen and certain makeup makes my eyes blurry. Skincare feels like it moves to my eyes. Sunscreen is worst and cheaper makeup. The dermatologist said it can be common for sunscreen to move and burn and bother eyes. 🤷♀️
Everyone is different! It can certainly bother you. I'm sorry you have trouble with it. Thank you for sharing and for being here!
Same!
You are genius! I want to try! But what about mascara? Did you found solution?
I'm so sorry! That sounds really difficult. I hope it improves soon.
Tia!!
Thanks for this info! I'm an urgent care provider and see a lot of people with lid dermatitis etc. and get red, flaky lids myself.
It seems to be my eyelashes that are the problem! Just the tiniest little touch and they instantly flare up!!
Some people's eyes are more sensitive than others. I am so sorry to hear about your sensitivity.
Sandra, sorry you struggle with this! It can be so annoying. Let me know if the hot towels/cleaning helps you.
I have eyelid dermatitis and I find Vaseline (petroleum jelly) the best for removing my mascara.
Thank you for sharing! :)

I cannot wear ANY eye makeup or mascara. My eyes are so sensitive!
Me 2 it's horrible
Glad to help! Let me know if these things work for you!
I know that Titanium Dioxide is a problem for me. Hard to find brands that don’t have it.
I've stopped wearing eye makeup due to allergies (and laziness lol) but I would like to get back into it. I've gotten a few pallets as gifts over the years so I feel guilty about not using them. Hopefully this helps me!
I love eyeshadow and have worn it for two years and my eyesight just started to fade.
It would be so helpful if you could compile a list of the allergens you speak of
I doubt there's a universal list. Though, a list of known common ones would be helpful.
Thanks for the suggestion! I will see about making a video on this.
Hi doctor, is the pressure we put on the eyelid when applying or removing makeup affects the cornea?

Thank you for your feedback! I am glad you enjoyed it.
Many eyeshadows have caused my inner eyes to itch a bit, but I don't know if it's the makeup or if my eyes just can't tolerate anything.
A really useful guide 💯👍🏼

I'm so sorry you suffer with this! Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I hope you can find some products that work for you.
I literally do makeup for a living and I can’t wear eye makeup without my eyes getting so irritated which makes it hard to market myself. It gets frustrating
😣 That sounds extremely frustrating! When did your irritation begin?
So I I just have to ask! Do you use rubbing alcohol to sanitize your pallets?
I'm glad this helped! I hope you can find some contacts that work for you. It can be hard!

How long should we do the routines you suggested before we slowly start some sort of routine again?
You are recommending Aquaphor, but doesn't that contain lanolin?
Hello Dr. Rupa! Do you still tightline? Also, which brand of eyeliner do you use?
I'm having last 6months redress on eyelids but only in area where I put eyeliner and stick eyelashes. Nowhere else. I tried to be like fluent 2 weeks without any makeup and then tried different eyeliner and different lash glue that I used to use but same problem is coming back every time I put eye makeup. I'm left with red liner area that flakes and peel off later...
Aquaphor Healing Ointment for dry eyelids..... it looks like this has lanolin in it?? Safe to use on eye skin??
Its taking so long to listen to all of the video,so could you just name recommendations for Mascaras what are safe for eyes to use for all eye users? Thanks if you'll answer!!
Everyone is different so there won't be one mascara that is safe for everyone to use. I use Thrive mascara, if you would like to try that.
I was told by a Dermatologist years ago just to give up wearing make up. That was his answer. Of course, that didn't help me. Now 30 years later it's worse. It won't clear up. I can't wear makeup. Help!!!
I'm so sorry. It can be so hard dealing with this. Have you seen an ophthalmologist?
@DrRupaWong no, not for this. I guess I should, I did just see an allergist and I'm told I'm allergic to rubber and other things, too many to mention. I truly appreciate you answering me. I will book an appointment with an ophthalmologist. Thank you so much.

Sure! Nothing wrong with vaseline and rose water. Thanks for watching! :)
Goodness, that sounds so hard! I'm sorry you struggle with inflammation. Thank you for sharing the products that work well for you. I appreciate you!

i didn't know eyeshadows had nickel in them!
I am glad this could help!
What's ur recommended treatment for Sjorgens? I have a lot of moist problem on my shoulders, eyes and intimate area. I used the towels btw and artifical teardrops I noticed after sometime they don't work..
The links are not working.

Thanks for sharing, Kellie! What kind do you use?
I adore kajal, but it pricks my eyes and make them water.
I wish I could wear false eye lashes or mascara.
