This is a very well presented video. It would make a complete amateur feel confident enough to take the task on 👍

    This video is spot on!
I'm really grateful, Mrs left the handbrake on ours earlier and fried everything so I've had a busy night trying to restore things! Couldn't see an adjuster for love nor money! Oh and I couldn't find a 46mm socket 😅
But anyway, mate you made my life a LOT easier 👍🏽

Great video - thanks so much!! Quick question (probably a bit dim) - if the brakes are adjusted by a mechanical screw thread, how often should they be checked and adjusted to allow for wear in the friction material? Thanks again.

Good question, due to the wedge having a roughly a 10mm sliding face and the shoes have roughly 6mm of friction material, providing there are adjusted correctly you shouldn’t need to adjust them very often at all, usually go by how high the hand brake lifts, if it points upwards then I would recommend adjusting them 👍

Makes perfect sense. Thanks a million 😊

But how can you claim the brakes are properly adjusted when you totally ignored what activates them....the cables and the hitch...that's where the real skill lies !!!

Hitch and brake cables were all inspected prior to video when the service was carried out, but thanks for your comment

I didn’t realise that the two large holes in the backplate were so the shoes could be inspected 🫢
