Once again the question - is the F2004 the fastest car of all time or the W11? I think instead of relying on an already unrealistic computer game, one should simply use known facts for the comparison. If you take current Silverstone, it is 9 to 10 seconds "longer" than 2004. The F2004 needed 1.18 back then, which with the 9 to 10 seconds due to the longer track would mean a time of 1.27 or 1.28 in the worst case. The grooved tires were 4-6 seconds slower than slicks purely due to the lower contact area (figures quoted by Goodyear and Bridgestone in 1998 vary depending on the track). This results in a time of 1.21 to 1.24. Considering that the W11 achieved this time on much wider slicks, with a much larger contact patch and therefore much more grip, there is little doubt that the F2004 would beat the W11 at Silverstone. This is further illustrated by the fact that the F2004 still holds the track record at Monza, a similarly fast circuit and, incidentally, not the only lap record that cars of this generation still hold today. Even if you look at the lap records in general and subtract the 4 to 6 seconds that the F2004 has a tire disadvantage (and this does not even take into account that the W11 has much wider slicks, which offer significantly more grip and another advantage of up to 2 seconds depending on the track, but which is probably offset by the fact that Michelin and Bridgestone were able to build better, tailor-made tires) it becomes clear that this car is very likely the fastest of all time. So if you look at it purely mathematically, logically and impartially and calculate it based on the known facts, without "fanboy" emotions about a car, it quickly becomes clear that the F2004 would probably be the faster car on most tracks. Which is not surprising. Ultimately, this car is 135 kg lighter, with an almost equally powerful engine and underbody aerodynamics that more than compensate for the disadvantages of the smaller underbody area due to the larger diffuser.
On the strait line or circuits with more/ longer strait parts, like old Monza, old Hockenheimring, or Le Mans, my oppinion is, the F2003/2004 wuold be faster/quicker but on the circuit with lot of/many corners i think that W211 would be quicker. It depends from what kind of Cirquit we are talking about. ▪︎ If i talk obout F2003/F2004 (Bolide) and when i say "maybe".., i mean first of all Williams BMW with J.P.Montoya (not just Ferrari)..! But we will never know..!
6:49 bro if the Ferrari hadn’t made that huge mistake by hitting that curve so hard that sent it 2 wheels off the ground, the match would have been closer than it is now
Btw he specifies with Slick Tires because in 2004 and through the whole V10 Era, cars used treaded slick tires because if they didn't they would've been so fast they wouldve been dangerous. Obviously in like historical showings of the V10 cars, they use slicks, but that's because they aren't being run to their limits for almost 2 hours, and because Michelin and Bridgestone don't make the grooved slicks anymore.
Luckily we don't need the AI to know the time of the Mercedes with the party mode in Silverstone, it was real and it was 1:24.303, needless to say that this comparison loses meaning with this if we can get any idea of "reality" from a game, there is no comparison in the real life the fastest car ever is the Mercedes W11
Unfortunately the AI in this game is far from good. Also the idea of the video is not to compare real life lap times with those in the game, but rather just a comparison between the two cars.
Well, what you're saying is definitely doubtful, otherwise there obviously wouldn't be so many people who think the F2004 with the same, much faster slick tires would be the faster car. And in fact a simple bit of arithmetic suggests this - the track at Silverstone was lengthened in 2010, increasing lap times by around 9 to 10 seconds. The F2004's time on the old circuit was 1.18 so even under poor conditions it would have achieved a time of 1.28. If you put it on the well-known (at least if you watched F1 back in the 90s when this changeover from slicks to grooved tires took place and know the statements from Goodyear and Bridgestone about how much slower the grooved tires are) 4-6 seconds faster slicks, it would achieve a time of 1.22 to 1.24. That's the best time the W2004 could achieve. 1.24 was the best time the W11 could achieve. Considering that the W11 achieved its 1.24 on wider slicks with a much larger contact patch, which are even faster, it's pretty clear that the F2004 would easily beat that time. You only have to look at the list of lap records - the F2004 still holds lap records today. And this despite the fact that the grooved tires were 4 to 6 seconds slower and narrower, which is why the pure tire disadvantage was probably closer to 6 to 8 seconds. However, one should take into account that Bridgestone and Michelin have built far better tires than Pirelli in the tire war, so the 4 to 6 seconds that "normal" slicks are probably faster are relatively accurate. So it is by no means clear that the W11 is the fastest car. Quite the opposite. If you look at the times of the F2004 and subtract the aforementioned 4 to 6 seconds, it is FAR faster than the W11 on almost all tracks. So what if you look at it objectively, logically and without bias (some fans for some emotional reason seem to have a problem accepting that any car could be faster than the W11, which unfortunately has to be dismissed as "fanboy" posturing) it is more likely than not that the F2004 would outrun the W11 on the same tires on the majority of tracks.
The f2004 might maybe be a tad quicker on highest mode on a single kap maybe on some tracks ..... But in a race would run out of fuel trying to stuck with the w11 70 percent into the race..... No way it's faster over a race. Not even close... Like at all.
It was modeled with slicks. That was the point. The 2004 spec had grooved tires, which were slower. So they had to make change that spec in the model. You must be a relatively new follower of F1.
The v10 is obviously faster but the new v6 is a much wider car and handles turns better but the v10 always pulls away on straight and other acceleration.
*QUICKEST F1 car SO FAR, NOT "ever". To make the W11 the quickest and fastest F1 car ever, the difference in speed, lap time, pace, and distance between it and Ferrari F2004 must be astronomical (lsimilar to the Porsche 956 and Porsche 919 Evo on the Nurburgring) and insurmountable, instead of only few tenths or hundreds of a second, or about a second or two.
The Ferrari gets the advantage of slick tires but the Merc doesn't get DRS. The comparison is not as thorough as it could have been. That said the Ferrari is 20 year old tech and it's right there. Imagine that formula having only tweaks made over the last two decades and all the development that goes with it.... It's not the cars that ruin F1, it's the FIA and their stupid rules.

The braking of the W11 is immense...
The bigger tyres also gives a faster travel than the F2004, but the braking is absolutely crazy!
