Best of Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023: 787B, F1 GTR, McMurtry, KC23, MP4/4, Supra Mk5 2JZ, Bolide!

- After each of the previous 4 editions of the Goodwood Festival of Speed I attended I always thought about producing a long and personal 'best of' comoilation, showing you the incredible variety of vehicles and entries at the event, but it took me a fifth time to make that video a concrete thing.
This year's edition has been pretty full of anniversaries and celebrations: 30 years since the first FoS and 75 years of motorsport events at Goodwood, the 75th anniversary of Porsche's first sports car, 75 years of Lotus, McLaren's 60th anniversary, 75 years of NASCAR and, of couse, the 100 years of the Le Mans 24 Hours. Unfortunately it hasn't been the luckiest of the editions due to adverse weather conditions, which forced the organizers to cancel Saturday for strong wind forecast for the day.

Using the right mic makes all the difference. I don't know which would be best, but having filmed a couple of trackdays with my simple HD handycam and shitty mic (omnidirectional), I know that the sound of cars tends to lower in volume drastically after passing it. Meanwhile standing there you still hear plenty. The mic will start picking up more noise from close by, making the audience more audible and you end up with a recording that only sounds impressive for about 3-5 seconds every time a car passes. Bozzy, if you read this, do you still use the binaural mic? I don't see you mentioning it anymore..

Not as much as I'd like to but whenever I get the chance I bring all the equipment with me 😉 I've uploaded only a couple of binaural videos this year but, as usual, you immediately identify them from the title

I've been in a turbo 4 rotor and the flames and shockwaves they make are just insane. Flames coming whole way past the damn passenger door.
this car is insanely hard to control in assetto corsa, but its so much fun! i can only imagine how it must feel IRL. my fav car in the game, whipping this badboy across nordschleife in AC is the most fun you can have in a race simulator

the mechanical rawness of the 90s era formula, is just insane and it just gets the blood flowing. the mika maclaren and schumey ferrari years were amazing .then the grace and dominance of the newer merc was tamed and had put down lap after lap for 7 years just lethal lap times. now the redbull is just magic for max and honda and redbull really hit home runs. 30 years of F1 and i just cant get enough. now as for the pink pig at the 22 min marker omg its madness. all these cars and trucks are amazing every clip just keeps getting better and better lol even the skinny car with it epic lap time lol

And many more special moments. Then the 911 RSR Pink Pig shows up and steals the show. Damn that beast of a car is unbelievably loud!

The Pronello Huayra is perhaps one of the first ground effect cars in the world, it is a car from the 60s. A decade before ground effect was introduced in F1.

Biggest surprice to me was that the Nascar vehicles were so incredible fast on a track like this. NOT an easy car to drive under any circumstances, especially not under these conditions...

Also, thanks for these videos as always. Top notch quality everytime, no non stop commentary from the staff. I understand that its useful for some people to hear about the history of what theyre witnessing, but honestly its hard to hear the cars in the GW official videos.
