There was also mention of a lot of Riot gear that went missing from Ceres. We now know where the gear and the gangs ended up. I love how tightly written this show is with all the hints and the little details they sprinkle through the story.
I love your kind of reaction videos, because in so many of these so called reaction videos, some guy just sits and watches the stuff and maxbe smile, ocassionaly say something, but you guys are really invested in the story so you only show the parts where you are really reacting and making one theory after another and that is the best. Ok I know this reaction came out a little while ago but I can’t resist - one thing I look for in reactions to this episode is how people react to Dresden (the mad scientist guy) saying, “we were able to obtain a viable sample of the protomolecule.” It’s the first time they use the name and when I saw this episode for the first time, that really floored me - that not everyone was in the dark about the blue goo. These bad guys knew what it was (sort of) and gave it a name.
The writing on this show is next level tight, efficient and meticulously plotted. Literally nothing is wasted, even down to whatever you see in the background on screens, etc. If a character says something, you can be sure it's gonna be important. I am so enjoying you guys discussing it and your theories.
BTW one of the minor details this episode provides is the timeframe for season 1 - its events take around 1,5 months, which also shows that sometimes days or weeks pass between scenes we see even in the same episode.

Something to keep in mind is the scope of the show and the effort to be true to reality. No large group of humans is monolithic, or completely controllable by one person or group. Think of the US, or the EU (and the UN in the expanse is probably more similar to the EU). From the outside, American's are americans, but any american (and most non-americans) understand there are factions - and those factions not only work at cross purposes but also don't always know what the other is up to. Here there are subfactions within each of the big groups and conspiracies are never as complete as they seem - or as the conspirators like to thing they are - sometimes the wrong, clueless guy stumbles in and...

I think you might have mixed up the decimal point/comma. They got at least a dose of 3.400,00 Röntgen to die of radiation sickness within 24h ... that would be more like 2k X-Ray pictures in a matter of seconds ;) Edit: It's a common mistake that even scientists fall for, as different countries use different conventions. That is why it is now common not to use a point or comma as delimiter, but a space or a half-space like 1 000 000,00. This way you can immediately discern the decimal marker used in that context.

My explanation for why Dawes was beating Miller: they are both Belters, but Miller was working for an Earther Police (kind of) in Ceres, because the asteroid belongs officially to Earth's Government; and Earth is not very respectful of Belters, so Dawes doesn't want Miller finding about the OPA's search for the Anubis and telling the Authorities (affiliated with Earth).
Miller's boss was working for Dawes all along, so Miller did not really have a channel for informing the authorities - Dawes just did not want him digging out the truth about his involvement in all this events, about the nature of Julie's mission for OPA.
Miller works for Star Helix Security, an Earth-based security corporation that began to supply policing services in lieu of the United Nations law enforcement arm when Earth withdrew from Ceres. Ceres is the biggest Star Helix Security operation outside of Earth. Star Helix is partially owned by the Mao corporation. So Julie's father unofficially asked Star Helix to find his daughter, and Miller got the job under the table. Mao's name comes up in a staff meeting scene earlier in the season where its alluded to as being part owners.

I'd say each season is the best in its own right. Each season has a distinct theme. S1 is a blend of film noir and dead space horror. S2 is more of a political thriller. S3 is a ghost story. And S4? Well, describing the genre would be too big of a spoiler.

It illustrated quite powerfully for me how tragic it was that Julie was calling out for help, but no one was answering... while Miller was equally desperate in trying to find her, but she never knew. I cried a lot in that scene 😭

Regarding Julie, if you pay close atention, she dosen't have money (she says in the flashback before they try to board the Anubis), har father, Jules Pierre Mao has money. That same guy that put that contract for finding/kidnaping for Julie on Ceres (that contract lands on Miller lap). Earth (Earth and Moon) is ruled by UN. The leader of that organisation is a Secretary General, a Undersecretary (Sadavir Errinwright) and an Deputy Undersecretary (Chrisjen Avasarala). Slight spoiler: OMG, Steven, you are sooo fun, with your theories. This show knows how to put your wheels in motion. I also didn't think you observed, but they gave a name to he blue goo: Protomolecule. Is a combination of words, proto (from Protogen, the name of the company who hired those scientist) and molecule. So, molecule of Protogen. Protogen is one of Mao's companies. The name of the security company that handles the security/muscle for hire on Eros is a new company named CPM (Carne Por la Machina - meat for the machine) formed from ex-gangsters from Ceres. I highley recomand to read the books. There is a huuuuge number of pages (are 8 books out, and last one to be launched this year, so 9 books and 8 novelas), so if you want some GoT style of books (and number of pages), but much more control over adaptation to TV and a muuuuch more writing speed, seek this series of books.

This show really knows how to ratchet things up quite a bit huh. But now you know the full tragic story of Julie Mao. But those answers have just raised more questions. Especially about her father's involvement. I love how Steven just suspects everyone.

I have to rewatch everything before watching the new ones coming out, there's a lot of details and I don't remember anything...the good side of having a bad memory is that when I rewatch movies/tv series, I get to experience it for a second time!
Avaserala wasn't surprised by Fred Johnson's info because she already tracked some unidentified ships built in shipyards of Earth so she already knew something weird is going on.
On the whole, this isn't a romantic show. They don't really foster shipper dreams, that sort of thing, though that doesn't stop some people. I'm glad you're finally seeing Holden at his core: sort of a Dudley Do Right, whereas Miller is more your Dudley get fucked. Like every character in this show, Holden grows, he changes. In fact, I can't think of a single character who over the course of the seasons doesn't make some transition of loyalties or growth in understanding. They start out as dyed in the blood Earthers, or Belters or Martians etc and gradually become more. I suppose it's Amos' churn in action.
How many times can Steven be wrong on his predictions before he stops trying? 😂 Seriously though. The expanse is one of my fav shows of all time and its really enjoyable watching y'all react to it. Beltalowda!
Keep in mind that book 1 ends on season 2, episodes 5 & 6 (watch them both together). This is some of the best Sci-Fi out there right now. Buckle up, this is one hell of a ride.

I don't know if its the same for you in other shows but for the expanse it seems to be that certain people love to explain or confirm things in the comments when you're not sure of what's going on. For me this is the same as spoilers, as quite often its things that aren't 100% certain on first viewing, so if you want to be able to try and figure things out for yourself you might want to get moderators or stay out of the comments
Steven, you're a shit judge of character, listen to Nikki more. You'll get there. This storyline rolls right into the first half of season two. Keep going dude, it gets even better. Really. Best show on TV.
Shit judge seems harsh, but I do get the feeling he's still trying to figure out "who is the mole" cheaper storytelling kind of thinking. I feel like in the Expanse you don't need to be quite so paranoid about secret twist characters in the main cast after you get off the Donager, it's more about a broader political picture and which of the peripheral characters stand to gain from any given situation.
"He wants to help his people." Not really. More like he wants to help himself by convincing his people he wants to help them. Not unlike many political agents and parties today.
One thing that I found kinda annoying is that the books don't line up with the first 3 seasons of the show. The first book's story ends part way through season 2 and the rest of season 2 is from the second book. But then the second book's story doesn't end until part way through season 3, and the the third book is the rest of season 3. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't give any details, but you will recognize the story breaks when you get to them. If things don't feel like they are wrapping up properly at the end of the show's season, this is why. Again, no spoilers, so that's all I am going to say, but this will make more sense to you once you get to those episodes.
It's so amusing to see you over-analyze everything, but end up missing one very important scene that would change your entire theory. In fact, it's a type of scene you guys have been missing this entire season. But no worries, next episode will make it crystal clear what that was (assuming you haven't watched it already).

This show really knows how to ratchet things up quite a bit huh. But now you know the full tragic story of Julie Mao. But those answers have just raised more questions. Especially about her father's involvement. I love how Steven just suspects everyone.

This show is flawless. I'm not a fan of space shows, but this was surprise for me. I haven't seen anything like this in a while.
On the whole, this isn't a romantic show. They don't really foster shipper dreams, that sort of thing, though that doesn't stop some people. I'm glad you're finally seeing Holden at his core: sort of a Dudley Do Right, whereas Miller is more your Dudley get fucked. Like every character in this show, Holden grows, he changes. In fact, I can't think of a single character who over the course of the seasons doesn't make some transition of loyalties or growth in understanding. They start out as dyed in the blood Earthers, or Belters or Martians etc and gradually become more. I suppose it's Amos' churn in action.
I am looking forward to Steven finding out what is really going on ;) hehe

Keep in mind that book 1 ends on season 2, episodes 5 & 6 (watch them both together). This is some of the best Sci-Fi out there right now. Buckle up, this is one hell of a ride.

I don't know if its the same for you in other shows but for the expanse it seems to be that certain people love to explain or confirm things in the comments when you're not sure of what's going on. For me this is the same as spoilers, as quite often its things that aren't 100% certain on first viewing, so if you want to be able to try and figure things out for yourself you might want to get moderators or stay out of the comments

Steven, you're a shit judge of character, listen to Nikki more. You'll get there. This storyline rolls right into the first half of season two. Keep going dude, it gets even better. Really. Best show on TV.
Shit judge seems harsh, but I do get the feeling he's still trying to figure out "who is the mole" cheaper storytelling kind of thinking. I feel like in the Expanse you don't need to be quite so paranoid about secret twist characters in the main cast after you get off the Donager, it's more about a broader political picture and which of the peripheral characters stand to gain from any given situation.

"He wants to help his people." Not really. More like he wants to help himself by convincing his people he wants to help them. Not unlike many political agents and parties today.
I love the optimism about julie maybe not possibly being dead.
One thing that I found kinda annoying is that the books don't line up with the first 3 seasons of the show. The first book's story ends part way through season 2 and the rest of season 2 is from the second book. But then the second book's story doesn't end until part way through season 3, and the the third book is the rest of season 3. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't give any details, but you will recognize the story breaks when you get to them. If things don't feel like they are wrapping up properly at the end of the show's season, this is why. Again, no spoilers, so that's all I am going to say, but this will make more sense to you once you get to those episodes.
It's so amusing to see you over-analyze everything, but end up missing one very important scene that would change your entire theory. In fact, it's a type of scene you guys have been missing this entire season. But no worries, next episode will make it crystal clear what that was (assuming you haven't watched it already).
