The line at 8:57 sounds almost exactly as if it were coming from Harrison Ford. People can say what they want about the film, but I found Ehrenreich's performance as Han Solo commendable.
Sure, if he was supposed to be a 16 year old Han like in the beginning of the movie. After that, though, I don't buy this is a person who comes from an incredibly tough background that has been to war. Let alone Han Solo.
For fans of Han's blaster the DL-44 there was a cool reference to its history too. Before Beckett tosses it to Han he breaks it down from a carbine configuration(take down stock/longer barrel). The original prop gun used to build the blaster also appeared in this configuration in another movie - The Naked Runner.
:/ i seem to be the only one who noticed that the crimson dawn yacht looks very similar to Duchess Satines coronet? I mean it makes quite a lot of sense since that was a mandalorian ship and maul ruled mandalore for a while. It would also explain the red Mandalorian Armor (Mandalorian Super Commandos painted their armor red after maul took over). I'm not saying its the exact same ship since there are a lot of differences for example the hyperdrive positioning but it might have been modified or build as an omage because as far as i remember was the coronet a custom build spaceliner.
Well, if we're ranking things, I'd have them this way: The Force Awakens Solo Rogue One The Last Jedi Also, just because I ranked TLJ last doesn't mean I believe it was a bad movie. My main concern about TLJ is how it affects the story thread for the third film; possibly they gave Johnson too much freedom concerning plot elements and we're going to get a lot of "from a certain point of view" moments in E9.
is it just me or did any one else notice that tobias killed aura sing who was boba's mentor and han killed fett and since tobias was Hans mentor the mentor killed the mentor and the mentie killed the mentie just something i noticed
only in star wars legends not canon (basically fan fiction) but I have a feeling disney will make him survive the sarlac pit, because like maul, he is too popular a character to die, regardless how impossible survival would seem
PyroXman I don’t mean a spin off, But More Of they Continue the Solo And Maul movies and explain What Qira had to do to get free and also where they explain The Crimson Dawn Better
Watching this reminded me of when I was 13 and me and 2 best friends (still to this day) saw this movie in the cinema, it was better than we all expected so I have a huge personal attachment to it because of how simple those days were :)
This movie is much better than given credit for. It is actually a near perfect Star Wars movie. The action is great. The characterization is spot on. The acting, the tone, the pacing, it all shouts Star Wars. It is too bad this movie has such a bad reputation. Because it is undeserved. Give it a watch with an open mind and allow yourself to enjoy what is a great Star Wars movie. Otherwise it is solely your loss.
The monster fish (15:30) that attacked Qui-Gonn, Obi-Wan, and Jar Jar, is actually called a Colo Claw Fish. The same fish was also mention by Dryden Vos earlier into the movie when Han first met him.
Yes and no, in the episode it's not clear if it is "in character". You don't see an orchestra. Here it's clearly a jingle to an ad (which makes it plain silly but lol)
That's not true. I like it and I'm 18. My friend likes it and he's 30. The podcasters from Coffee with Kenobi and Full of Sith and Star Wars Bookworms like it and they are all in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Your comment is flat out false!
13:30 that hidden compartment was where Luke and the others hid is the same one from solo. However it is not the same compartment that was is force awakens. In force awakens ham and chewie find Rey and Finn in a compartment that was in the same room as the holo chess table.
this will need a deeper dive though... since this week it has been revealed that his armor has a much deeper meaning regarding the Old Republic era, which makes my geek heart explode
1) The Imperial March featured in the Rebels episode "Empire Day". 2) Not an AT-ST....but an AT-DT. 3) The VCX-100 in Rogue One IS the 'Ghost' from Rebels. Other than that, great video :)
This movie was GREAT! So under-rated by fans. They should make a sequel! And btw that was funny "I just love that walking carpet" haha. You do a good efficient witty rundown NR! To answer your question I thought all three characters/actors were great. They made it their own which is a good way to go.
Yep! Chewbacca was the star of this movie for me. It was nice seeing him more apposed to just seeing him floating about in scenes, in the backgrounds. So were there meant to be more movies with Solo? seemed like it was opening up that idea for future adventures.
The red Mandalorian armour is actually Mandalorian Crusader armour, it's a nod to the Old Republic and the KotOR games, the crusaders were 2 waves (crusaders and neo-crusaders) of Mandalorians who went on a campaign to build an empire, the latter which ended up fighting a massive war against the old republic, resulting in the near destruction of both the Mandalorians and the Old Republic. (Back in the Old Republic era the Mandalorians owned many planets and were much more of a military nation than in the movie era)
The fuel is held in the same smuggling compartments where Han and co. hide after being caught by the Death Star. But that is not where Rey and Finn hide in The Force Awakens. They hide in a maintenance pit in the cargo hold (similar to one Han is in when the tool box falls on him in Empire Strikes Back). The smuggling compartment is in the corridor.
Decent movie. Lots of great tie ins and reference. Love to see a Bolba Fett part 2 and ObI-Wan part 3 focusing on the criminall elenent Crimson Dawn. Intertwined stories of solo, the huts, fett ,and others culminating in light saber duel between Maul and Obi-Wan.
I just saw the movie. the original came out when I was 13. saw it a dozen times. Solo was my fav character (swoon). and while I don't swoon any more, I could still sit through this movie a dozen times. the downside I thought, was that it was so explanatory. the solo novels stood on their own, and this could have too. but loved it.
You missed something about Mimban. In Rookies, a Clone Wars Episode, the Clone Troopers are listening to the Grand Army of the Republic Broadcast. They give a shoutout to "The Mudjumpers of the 224th slogging it out on Mimban" Even after all these years they are still fighting there.
John Powell did the score for SOLO, and re-orchestrated some John Williams themes. Williams did compose a Han Solo motif, but the rest of the score was Powell's - he's the one who "snuck in" Duel of the Fates (by Williams).
The Last Jedi is the worst movie in the franchise for sure. The Force Awakens though was actually good, Abrams did a great job. Solo was also a good movie (underrated tbh), but it's a tough choice
One of Han's costumes in this is very similar to the original cut scene from ANH where he meets Jabba The Hutt, where Jabba is played by a human, Han is partially wearing Jabba's costume.
Solo was great I don't know why people always give it a hard time. I've watched it probably just as many times as any other Star Wars movie. It's good to have on his background movie it's got a lot of cool scenes. Especially the train the hover train that was amazing and how it blew up the mountain I loved it and then the gravity well black hole basically was awesome
The aesthetic of Solo and Rogue One more than eclipses that of TFA and TLJ. They feel so much more like Star Wars movies than the latter. I was so happy this movie wasn't as bad as some people were saying it was.
I found this movie to be the closest in tone to the original trilogy since Return of the Jedi. I don't understand why there was such a vocal opposition to Solo. Unfortunately, various external factors negatively influenced its reception and box office, and it looks like there won't be a sequel, which in my opinion is a great shame as I'd love to see more adventures with this crew.
one detail I found interesting that wasn't mentioned in this video was the stripes on the crime bosses face seem to get darker when he's angry or fighting, and lighter when he's just milling about. anyone have idea why outside of it just looking great on film?
There was no Et-St, It has a different name. Also, swamp troopers (better known as mud troopers) aren't actually stormtrooper variants! They are regular imperial army.
Idk y everyone is hating on the movie. I don’t see it as a serious and important movie like the force awakens or something but just a fun side story. It did have its flaws sure but it was fun and exciting
I haven't read through many of the comments so maybe someone else brought this up but I don't think you mentioned anything about L33T and the connection with Vuffi Raa from the Lando Calrissian novels. I thought it was the biggest and most welcome surprise of the movie (as a homage). I never really understood exactly what Raa was - part droid, part sentient? It's been maybe 15 yrs since I read Lando's books. He and L33T had very different roles. You know all this, I'm sure, but in the book Lando needed a pilot after he acquired the Falcon and also someone to teach him how to fly, so that's where Vuffi Raa came in. I loved Solo for all the references to the EU. It deserved recognition. Rogue One is my favorite installment since probably ESB but I was disappointed with its blatant disregard to all previous media.
you talk about a reference (#5) I think but you forgot to mention it is also a reference to Star Trek : Into darkness , in a way because its approximately the same scene when Kirk is with spoke and Uhura in a ship that isn't from Star fleet on Kronos when they are chased by a Klingon ship in an abandoned part of the planet looking for Khan played by Benedict Cumberbatch (or "Harrison" at that moment in the film)
I was quite surprised by the last two Star Wars movies! I had high hopes for Last Jedi, and went into Solo thinking "meh." It was totally flipped. Solo was awesome!
i will admit this movie was better than i expected
It's treason then
Definitely. Even just like 2 months ago I had no hope for this film.
cole McNally don’t use the word hope
saw it yesterday and i totally agree
I REALLY AM THE SENATE
The line at 8:57 sounds almost exactly as if it were coming from Harrison Ford. People can say what they want about the film, but I found Ehrenreich's performance as Han Solo commendable.

I agree
Apex Theory u
I think he filled the shoes well. I was convinced, especially when he started shooting
TrueKoalaKnight that doesn’t even make sense?? 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
How about when he meets lando during the second game he hugs instead of hitting him. Lando does the same in empire when they meet.
Bruh what a lad
The movie was way better than I expected
IKr
After the first 20 or 30 minutes. Before that it was really, really, bad.
I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but this movie was disappointing!
Same
You have pretty low expectations then, asshole.
I honestly really love this movie
Me too.

Lando also mentions his particular hatred for mining colonies, foreshadowing him winning cloud city in Bespin, a mining colony

Guillermo Loria I loved all the historical references especially the C96!
3:13 *Puts on nerd glass* ACKCHYUALLY, the upbeat Imperial March was first played in Star Wars: Rebels.
Four months or so late but THANK YOU! Not just me then xD
diegetic?
Can we get some appreciation for drunk Kanan Jarrus
Pokken Master no

Dear lord... that WAS the Ghost in Rogue One...
I thought strange he didn't mention it, too
I think I'm starting to dislike these videos
I’m not sure im understanding this conversation
Princess2Warrior that’s what I thought...
Hey you're entitled to your opinion even if your acting like a A-hole while giving it... Everyone's got their own opinion. 👍

Oh my god. The balck order is in Solo.
Joseph Iorio - Thanos needs to snap the sequels away

Huh... I thought Proxima sounded familiar...
@@f.i.r.e.5119 One person I would have liked to see would have been Garris Shrike. But I suppose Disney Canon. . .
Rogue One & Solo were both significantly better than The Force Awakens & The Last Jedi.
yep
I’d rank them
Solo
TFA
TLJ
Rogue one
Just my opinion
All four movies were really bad! If I had to rank them best to worst, it would be
1. The Last Jedi
2. Solo
3. Rogue One
4. The Force Awakens
Well, if we're ranking things, I'd have them this way:
The Force Awakens
Solo
Rogue One
The Last Jedi
Also, just because I ranked TLJ last doesn't mean I believe it was a bad movie. My main concern about TLJ is how it affects the story thread for the third film; possibly they gave Johnson too much freedom concerning plot elements and we're going to get a lot of "from a certain point of view" moments in E9.
I guess I'm the only one who would rank them
Rogue One
Last Jedi
Solo
Force Awakens
The upbeat imperial march was previously heard in Rebels (season 1 "Empire Day") few years ago
I thought of that to
is it just me or did any one else notice that tobias killed aura sing who was boba's mentor and han killed fett and since tobias was Hans mentor the mentor killed the mentor and the mentie killed the mentie just something i noticed
Grayson Marable Fett isn't dead.
Fett is basically confirmed at this point to have escaped the Sarlacc, he ain't dead bub.
Where??
only in star wars legends not canon (basically fan fiction) but I have a feeling disney will make him survive the sarlac pit, because like maul, he is too popular a character to die, regardless how impossible survival would seem
Sure, they are not gonna lose all the money that the merch of the Bobba Fet figurine will bring !
I’m pretty certain that “portions” refers to servings of food, rather than currency.
Exactly paid in food
Who else hopes this begins a Crimson Dawn Trilogy, continuing with Boba Fett and ending with Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Marc Fernandez yyp
Yes, AND THEY NEED TO CONTINUE THE STORY OF QIRA
Chameleon Eyes nooooo no they don’t 😂
PyroXman I don’t mean a spin off, But More Of they Continue the Solo And Maul movies and explain What Qira had to do to get free and also where they explain The Crimson Dawn Better
Maul,Hutt,Fett,Kenobi can all be worked in.This trilogy can work
So glad to hear a positive review! I liked it. If people just stop trying to write the stories and just sit down and watch, they’d enjoy it more.
It was a fun movie, don't know why all the pre judging it. GO SEE IT.
Elizabeth "Lisa" Fischer damn right!
One word "pansexual"
I don’t enjoy watching people shit. And that is what watching Ep.s 7 and 8 is like.
It because there was already a established back story for han but Disney made the expanded universe non canon just to make there own cannon
durring the first heist Rio also says "Get off My ship" in reference to harrison fords famous line "GET OFF MY PLANE"
lol air force 1

Yeah. Always shoot first.

The sideways maneuver is a callback to the podrace scene of Phantom Menace
The monster fish (15:30) that attacked Qui-Gonn, Obi-Wan, and Jar Jar, is actually called a Colo Claw Fish. The same fish was also mention by Dryden Vos earlier into the movie when Han first met him.
That side by side picture of young and older Han makes me realize that Han started shaving his chest hair 😂
Imperial March was in rebels in the episode called “Empire Day”
Yes and no, in the episode it's not clear if it is "in character". You don't see an orchestra. Here it's clearly a jingle to an ad (which makes it plain silly but lol)
Is it diegetic tho?
mikiroony it’s on the radio
The way chewie and han met is the same way as they get reunited at jabas palace no?
Needles was played by flea
Umm actually, portions refer to food, not currency.
Mark Canlas but is that not the currency they were using?
No, currency is something you can buy things with. Food is something you eat.
Money is currency, food is not.
If you trade your food for other goods & services, isn’t that a form of currency ?
It can be used as a currency to "barter" but is not a currency in itself.
in some cultures food is/was used as currency such as dates/rice/salt etc
therefore I would say it can be classed as a currency
The Imperial March was previously played in Star Wars Rebels on Empire Day in the first season.
HeyLookItsYoda it seems like most of NR hasn't watched the shows...
Rebels is trash, no one likes it beside 9 year olds
Electric Lizard That might be your opinion. Others, who want to learn more about Star Wars, might actually like it.

The novelization adds a lot of backstory about events in the three years after escaping Corillia.... which would’ve helped the movie I think.

3:19 No, it was in Rebels

Daniel Kimball what does it mean... Learn to English? Douchebag
these standalone movies have been put on hard due to the low rating of solo

Ketsu Onyo from rebels has the same design, not too much of a stretch to assume it's the same armour since they're both part of the rebellion.
14:32 So really, this is why we need another Solo movie showing the Kessel Run done by Solo in "less than 12 parsecs for Jabba.
Omg when I saw this in the drive in I did hear the duel of fates theme and freakedd out in the car.
dam nice, i wish there was drive -ins in my country
