I see the final shot of Vader walking away from the Ahsoka helmet being a resemblance to the scene where Ahsoka walks away from Anakin and the jedi order.
The truth of the great writing behind the Clone Wars anime is proven in that we know how the story ends. We know where it is going. We're like time travelers watching a tragedy unfold and knowing we can't do anything about it. Yet every time they're on the edge of uncovering the plot, every time they're on the verge of saving someone that we know is destined to die, every chance encounter that might have led to Sidious being unmasked, every opportunity to end the war and save both the Jedi and the Republic - we were on the edge of our seats. Bravo Clone Wars writers, bravo.
What’s super creepy about this season is all of the implications. Especially when maul says that anakin is being groomed to be sidious’ apprentice. It gives more depth to the more aggressive nature that we see in this season including the death of the separatist admiral. Another aspect is the different perspective to the events leading up to and during the Jedi purge. When we hear of anakin’s killing of dooku and you see the fleeting expression of concern on kenobi’s face you realize and can even feel the tension about to burst as we know what’s about to come. Lastly, when we see sidious give order 66 and see the chaos that it inflicts on such a localized level, with brothers turning on brothers, and the knowledge that during these last scenes the deaths of the Jedi we’ve gotten to know throughout the serious are taking place, it really gives a sense of dread to the Jedi purge that I personally have never felt before.
I'm guessing you weren't a kid that grew up with the prequels and didn't see Ep. III in theatres. The Jedi Purge had plenty of emotional impact in the movie.
This has got to be the smoothest animation with amazing choreography and facial expressions as well as the best story and finale to a great series full of amazing character arcs.
Holy crap, that Siege of Mandalore arc was literally the best Star Wars thing since Return of the Jedi, it is everything I wanted the sequels to be, and it is perfect in every sense of the word.
Honestly if rebels came after this remembering how badly the first two seasons of it were received, it would of felt very underwhelming after clone wars season 7.
My head canon for when R2 sees Ahsoka come off the ship is that he’s kinda like a dog greeting it’s human after a long time apart complete with the running to said human and head pats
Yes! And I was hoping she'd give R2 belly scritches, like Poe does with BB-8, but a [former] Jedi's gotta be stoic and all that... Still a great reunion to watch unfold though.
Ahsoka and Maul's saber fight was LEGIT... forgot I was watching a cartoon. I was laying in bed watching but by the time the fight was over I was standing right up on the TV.. SO FREAKIN GOOD!!!
Star wars theory pointed out, if you brighten the shot up, vaders eyes look blue instead of the yellow and red sith eyes meaning anakin might have had a second of remorse there. I don’t know if it’s true but it’s cool to think about
10:44 it's also a "hint" to the original Clone Wars were we can actually see Shaak Ti trying to protect the emperor but ends up getting captured by Grievous (which leads to the deleted scene you mentioned)
Jesse's helmet is the only one with blood on it is even more heartbreaking because it shows that the clones are flesh and blood and not some emotionless droid army that blindly follows orders. The clones had the ability to choose all the time but that was stripped away like their humanity when Sidious executed order 66.
Those weird cat creatures actually showed up in The Clone Wars before Rebels, at least showing up in the season 5 finale arc when Ventress mistakes one of their shadows for Ahsoka.
I absolutely cannot wait for The Mandalorian Season 2, it better not be delayed. So many cool things already confirmed thus far. We got Ahsoka, Boba Fett, and Bo-Katan, and who knows what else coming. This is going to be absolutely insane, also Sabine Wren
10:40 more likely that this was a nod to the original animated clone wars feature film length movies. Shaak Ti and a few other ill fated Jedi protect the chancellor from grievous.
Yeah...that was amazing in its own right. The Ithorian and Talz Jedis with Shaak Ti who died trying to 'save' Sidious from Grevious were pretty cool characters. Also I liked that (at the time) it gave a good canon explanation for Grievous' wheezing and coughing.
Fun fact: the Bad batch didn’t execute order 66, instead they willingly joined the empire and became known as the “Scar Squadron” also known as Task Force 99.
