This is the start of our winter sailing season! Happy New Year everyone and thanks for watching throughout the year. I went "full time" with video creation this year and it wouldn't have been possible without all of you that watch these videos, and special thanks goes to all the patrons.
Regarding the aluminum prints, I had some technical issues with the website earlier and some people were not able to get the their orders in, sorry about that! Because of that I've extended the opening of the print run until the midnight of January 8th. So we're on overtime here already but this is the last chance to get one of the prints, they are available at art.alluringarctic.com . Getting one of the prints is also a great way to support the making of these videos!
Happy New Year and have a safe rest of the winter.
Happy New Year Juho and Sohvi! Great work and gorgeous videos - thanks for making such incredible content.
22:14 outcrop?
Happy New Year! Thank you for your great shows!
Happy New Year, had a humpback whale die naturally years ago in South Australia. Friend made it on the news because he was an idiot enough to jump on top of it. There were about 50 great white sharks eating it's blubber at the time! One slip and he would have been shark food.
There is no sailing channel that earns so much respect as this one. And I have seen a lot of channels......🎉
Me too and I ditto your sentiment:)❤
Yes, you’re right!❤
I agree 💯
Happy New Year 🎆🎊 ✌️
Suggest you watch Sailing Oka Solo.
@@stephencrowther524no thanks, it's to much about here and the dog. I'm more fan of this original couple and their plans. And no offence, she is totally not our type of person to watch. 0 humour. And the quality of noise/music etc. You can't compare it with this channel!
Happy to “sea” that you are wearing dry suits and life jackets while paddle boarding in those cold waters as cold shock is extremely dangerous, and so many people fail to realize the importance of wearing a dry suit when paddling etc. You create the very best sailing videos on TH-cam !
Yes! When you're doing something dangerous, safety is always important. I know so many people who are so slack about life jackets and the like and it drives me nuts. On my boat, if we're moving then it's life jackets on. I'd rather laugh at how silly it seems on a warm calm day than not have them when something goes wrong. These two are a great example of how to do things right
“Not for the feint of heart” is the expression which extends to most of Alaska.
Sohvi is so adorable..Wishing you both a very happy and healthy New Year..❤
Happy New Year Juho and Sohvi! Safe sailing for 2024
Absolutely beautiful. I love this boat so much. Fantastic wildlife viewing platform, great.for photographer, fishing expeditions, day sailing and extended cruising trips. Excellent crew too. ✌🏻👶🏻🚬
We just recently went through those same storms. 76 knot winds at Port Etches and 100 knots in Knights Island Passage.
How sweet to have a coffee shop with panoramic views complete with live intertainment!
Thanks much for the field trip!
I single handed my 48 ft Crocker Ketch from Sitka AK to Caig AK back in winter of 1994. Got stuck in Little Puffin Bay for two weeks during a big storm. Had to run lines out to trees on the shore. One of the best two weeks of my life. Ate a lot of fresh halibut.
My wife and I sailed for 35 years on Lake Erie and then moved to Florida for 25 years and experienced 45 Hurricanes together however......Lost our home a year and a half ago in Hurricane IAN and did in fact moved back to Ohio on Lake Erie....Enjoy your videos..... and have subscribed to your Patreon site and look forward watching you both and your adventures up North...... I was able to camp out in 44 states in the USA parts of Canada near Hudson Bay area and Mexico as well.... we appreciate the value of exploring new places if you have the time to do so and will always value the many wonderful views in so many different locations both on land and on the water and while from time to time faced some extreme weather always survived without any harm to us well worth the effort it always added so much to our lives very enriching as I am sure you will discover.....this time in your lives is priceless
We love it when Sohvi is more in the vids, thanks
I was intrigued to see how mild the winter is even in December. Although I now reside in CA I was raised in the Midwest and I think they're having worse weather than Alaska. Alaska is full of surprises.
Our picture arrived well and I gave it to my wife for Xmas -- We have been to that Glacier by boat when on out 2017 four month RV trip to Alaska -- Great place. I enjoy your videos --- Dale
This couple , are just so likeable .
A wonderful way to visit Alaska from the warm comfort of the couch. Keep it up, most enjoyable.
Thanks so much for the date stamp, really brings more reality to the vid knowing when this was
Moment when Juho copied sea lion(and Sohvie joking about it too) roaring was brilliant. Thank you for opening a window to this wondrous and somewhat lonesome region. Fair winds, calm seas and 7 feet under the keel!
I have never been on a sailboat in my 57 years it is on my bucket list and you’re content is amazing I wish the both of you safe travels 🎉🎉❤
Take care and safe sailing for the new year. Sohvi seems happy. That’s good❤️ Maybe it’s the new haircut?
Sohvi looked happy and upbeat in this one
What a sail. What an amazing couple! Looking at your hat, have you had a hair cut! Happy New Year from Norway!
It is so cool that you guys are sailing Alaska in the winter. I was up there for three salmon seasons, Bristol Bay, Cook Inlet, Kodiak, Seward, Homer, and also a season in Glacier Bay on a tour boat. My point is I was always headed south by end of August, and dreamt of winter on a boat in Alaska. Now you guys are showing me what I missed out on. Thanks for one of the best actual sailing channels on utube.
Best sailing channel by far. Good job, guys.
Very Brave exploring way north this time of year.
Great to see this type of sailing, love your content great job.
Last of the true Vikings
Keep doing what you are doing. Every video has some new sights and sounds that are amazing. Cheers from the polar opposite side of the world!
"... and this is Sohvi!" :) :) :) Happy new year for you two, fair winds and following seas! Peter (Hungary)
Попутного ветра! Спасибо за предоставление нам Вашего прекрасного мореплавания .
Wishing you great sailing for 2024 , the scenery is stunning as ever.
so cool - you two are very gutsy paddle boarding in those cold conditions. The drone shots and music were terrific too.
Outstanding content and a unique YT channel.
I was a meteorologist prior to retirement, for 35 years. Many of those years were in Alaska. If you have any questions, let me know.
What a lovely place to sail and paddle board. Beautiful filming. A big thank you and a fantastic 2024. One Love ❤
I have never been a sailor but I love the water and your program is the best. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Holy smokes! Did you cut your hair?!? I just noticed.
As always ... breathtaking footage, editimg snd storytelling. Absolutely one of the best sailing and adventure vlogs on TH-cam. A++++
I just had to go back and look. Yes. He was certainly due. Nice pick-up. I usually notice things like that.
Happy New Year. Very amazing part of Alaska.
Epic footage as always. Happy New Year to the true explorers!
Such a cute portrait of you two at 6:03 in the video !
Wonderful adventure. The Sound is a wonderful place to adventure and you are very adventurous to do so in the winter. Feel free to reach out if you need logistic support out of Anchorage.
BTW, many commenting about your haircut. BRAVO!
Once again, you have me mesmerized as we sail in the breathtaking Prince William Sound area. Thank you for sharing a year stuffed full of amazing stories, scenery, and adventure. Here's to a spectacular 2024! Happy New Year, Juho and Shovi 🥳
What an amazing life. Words cannot describe how envious I am.
We love all the absolutely striking places! Stay safe and Happy 2024!
I would love to spend at least a month with you in what looks to be very different very difficult but awesome time...loving the exact opposite of every single other yachting channel...I think the reality is that the solitude and exciting environment makes it peaceful.
Sofie's so cute and the scenery so beautiful and you are doing such a great job. Very uplifting.
Have a Brilliant 2024 Guys!....
Thank you again for taking the time to do this filming! The scenery is beautiful and most of us won't get a chance to see it in person. Stay warm. Namaste.🙏
Sohvi & Juho: I worked for ARCO Marine and was sailing as a @nd Mate on the ARCO Juneau when the Exxon Valdez ran aground on Bligh Rock. We were loading at Berth 3 when we got the news of this disaster. The regulation's changed quickly afterwards. Great episode, beautiful photography and editing. Love the sealions! Happy New Year!
Of all the questions one might ask about the boat, sailing, weather, provisioning, safety, etc. what I would like to know is where you found such a beautiful, willing and capable woman to do it all with. Cheers.
Thanks for sharing your story and not hiding the bad parts. Get back out there.
Happy new year’s and all the best! Loving the videos
Awesome video. Love the characters eating the gratuity chocolates….thank you for your beautiful work
Magnificent! Merry Christmas and happy new year 👍
Happy Holidays, it's still green here in Parry Sound, Ontario, I don't mind, summer is coming lol ✌️
You clean up well! Good haircut! 😊
Happy new year my friends
Safe travels 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Fabulous video, thank you both so much, happy new year 🎉🤘👍
Winter in BC and Alaska is a well kept sailor’s secret, some of the best cruising that can be had. One must pay a little more attention to the weather as real gales can happen, but the anchorages are open and the wildness emerges. One needs a real furnace tho. I recommend a webasto thermo pro 90 or larger and an Efoy fuel cell for long stays out in the weather.
You’re some of the most fortunate people in the world. Your able to see locations that very few people are able to see
. Safe and pleasant travels to you. Enjoying your ventures from Phoenix Arizona USA 08/19/24 temperature 112 f
Happy New Year Juho and Sohvi! Safe sailing for 2024 love your content
greetsz from holland/friesland...max......
Catching up on your older videos, such a great experience!
Excellent video as always class
happy new year and safe sailing and fair wind
Really enjoy your arctic adventures, very refreshing and unique thank you for sharing
super nice work, unbelievably engaging, great company and top notch sounds, next episode how about a quick rip thru this one key frames for fun and the cliff hanger at the end , why not?
LOL, word you were looking for to describe your high end chocolate is bribe. This was a good one you two.
Happy new year! Beautiful film again. Beautiful music. Nice haircut .
This brings back memories of sailing in Prince William Sound between Valdez and Cordova a couple years after the oil spill. Always beautiful.
Un joyeux réveillon et une bonne et heureuse année…sail safe et the best for the futur.🍾🥂🎁🎁🙏🏼
I just found your channel about two weeks ago and I'm totally hooked! One of the best sailing/ life style channels in TH-cam. Much respect and love from Helsinki! Be safe and waiting for the new video!
Yes, beautiful boat, (I love the red canvas against the snow), beautiful environment, and more interesting Technical info than carpentry, or sanding! The skiff rescue was heart warming, you two are the true sailors! I see New Year's freedom from your dreads! Take care, I am thinking twice about the Columbia River Bar with my Beneteau. Ciao
Great job. Love your videos. Keep it coming. I would be very interested in how you rigged your sails and maybe more of how you sail in various conditions. But I will watch whatever you and Dr Sohvi does.
You’re fortunate that Alaska isn’t experiencing a “typical” Alaskan winter this year
That is down to perspective. For them it is unlucky to not have typical Alaskan winter :)
Great video, thank you so much.
Happy new year 🎈, and happy travels
Happy New Year to you two ❤
Clever you two are 🍺😎
Weather forcast are mostly over rated. And to the better 😎
Missing your videos. Hope your both doing well
Epic footage as always. Such a great experience eating chocolate from Finland watching Sea Lions 100 meters away! All of Canada and Alaska is experiencing an unusually mild winter this year. Happy New Year to the both of you.
Big smile on my face (the good way) when Sofi said "Hallo"
This is truly amazing. Living real close to the edge, Best video, His or their demure, mild expressions belie tremendous strength and brilliance,
I'm really enjoying watching your adventures. When I was growing up with my Finnish father in CA and then in Micronesia, I remember some of his expressions that he'd say when things weren't working out exactly as they were anticipated or planned...one that I heard a lot was: "Jumala meitä almutdon, sisar ja veljet meitä auttamaan!" which I translated to mean: "God begs us, sister and brothers to help us!" Please feel free to teach us viewers any colorful modern day Finnish expressions, if you'd like! Thanks!
Danke!
Can’t wait for the skiing vids.
…here in Scotland that would be a good snow year!
Wishing you both a very happy and successful 2024 from New Zealand
Love your channel - one of the few worth watching.
I'm a truck driver for Hobby Lobby in Oklahoma City absolutely love your videos even though I haven't seen very many of them I would love to be doing that when I retire if I ever do LOL
Goodwing and nothing but the best in 2024. I Fidel viewer in Canada !
Marvelous. Incredible.
the drone shots around the 7 minute mark were perfect ,Lumi looked like a minature model of herself.
Happy New Year Juho and Sohvi! Helm the course for 2024 !
The scenery of the places where you go is just stunning! So much more beautiful than the scenery from the Caribbean sailing channels. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. Happy New Year 🎉
I love this. My wife and I live in Alaska and in the summer we go on 10~14 day kayak camping trips in PWS. Would love to do it in the winter.
Another way to stay warm on board is with a battery operated heated jacket. Tnx for the video.
Thanks for sharing more about you two! You both seem like really interesting people but we rarely get to see you close up, so to speak. Please share more! I've watched almost all your vids and this is my fav... and it's in really good company! All the best to you both for 2024!
Happy new year! Really enjoyed this episode! Nice to see more of Sohvi, she’s absolutely badass for joining you in Alaska in the winter ❄️ where most sailing ladies would much rather be in the Caribbean !
Your videos are incredible!!. Many thanks for the huge work you do sharing your experiences at sea. I'm late for the prints, but waiting after the next ones!
Love you two! Thanks for your videos.
I love your videos!
Vauhdikasta uutta vuotta!
Kiitos Otso! 😍
I guide kayak trips in PWS, and you can actually see the damage from Exxon Valdez if you know what to look for. On east facing shores at low tide if you dig down an inch or two, you will find oil. Also there is black staining on lots of rocks on those east facing shorelines. The black staining is from the oil. It is still the most beautiful place to kayak on the planet. The sailing isn’t great, as there is either no wind, or too much wind. But that is why it’s great for kayaking. When there is too much wind we just stay on the beach.
Would like to see more of an evening by the warm fireplace.
Fantastic! All of it. Thank you so much.
There are few, sailing the world, sharing to all, and you have your own particular wild flavor I really enjoy! Thank you, great video, excellent content.
