Solo sailing lifestyle idiot has a camera as their only companion for 30 days. What will happen?! Will he get eaten by a bear?! Will he catch a shrimp? Maybe a fish? Will he ever get to actually sail? Will he just talk too much to the camera and make everyone annoyed? The only way to find out is to watch this video! Sohvi was in Finland preparing for her PhD defence during this month! Want to pay for these videos instead of watching them for free here on TH-cam? Check out my Patreon page! www.patreon.com/alluringarctic (Patrons do get access to ad-free videos, WhatsApp chat group and a boat tracker map with a list of all the anchorages and harbours so far 🥳. Wow!)
It's Bear here. I ate solo sailling idiot and took over his youtube channel. Keep watching, like, subscribe and don't forget to send me another one as I am getting hungry :D PS. Fingers crossed for Sohvi.
Hey that's my boat! I was the guy right behind you at the fuel dock. I thought you handled your boat approach like a pro. The wind blew be off the dock. Haha it was great to see ya
You should already have a million subscribers. The refit was enough to hook me. Then the photography, knowledge and best of all, the humor. Can't imagine a warm weather sailor clicking on this and not finding it addicting to watch.
I salute your solo sailing, filming, drone footage, wildlife, deep thoughtful observation of climate and time, shrimping, lifestyle cooking, and soulful enjoyment of a happy comedic life.👏
You are my ONLY Patreon subject! I did Leo's channel for a while, and whilst I still LOVE what he is doing on Tally Ho, and eagerly await all his videos, I am a poor South African! Our money is worth nothing! So, as he is doing well I chose to support you. Anyway, my wife and I have a classic 32 ft boat that we are getting ready to sail up to Madagascar and beyond, this time next year. We watch all the sailing channels and really like your style, your boat, and your location. Keep it up, and keep telling these people that watch you regularly and don't subscribe, that it is free to subscribe!! no skin off their nose to just click SUBSCRIBE. I want you to keep making videos. All the best, Alex.
You are certainly one piece of work. Skiing alone from a sailboat in winter in Alaska. I just love it. Stick with it, my friend. Don't ever change. you are wonderful just as you are.
I lol'd so hard at the eagle, and again with the one-shrimp-catch, loved it. And as a first time commenter, I must say I love your style, I love how it's like getting to know how you think in some way =)
The cat food for bait works really well but instead of opening the can just pop 2 or 3 holes in them and the best thing is that it can be stored indefinitely
Sea Otters. Sea Eagle doing a poop, amazing scenery. Beautiful video. A month on ur own will pass So fast hope you really enjoy Juho. Take care and stay safe won't you.😊
Being able to catch your own shrimp is really cool. Be safe and don’t take any chances with those avalanches. Gather food during the day and show us your cooking skills!
8:44 "Don't turn too quickly but don't turn to late either" What words of wisdom, I am sure they will be good for other vehicles as well like cars, trucks and tricycles.
One more thing i'd like to mention - if possible, could you put notes like "+high temperature" and the like not in the lower part of the video, but in upper or somewhere else, because i often use subtitles (not native speaker) and your note overlaps with the subtitles. I guess same goes for every time you have to translate Finnish and put your own subtitles. I understand that YT subtitles can be moved elsewhere manually, but i was wondering if i'm not the only one with this problem. Cheers from a certain place with the sirens!
We loved your inclusion of cooking your catches, especially when you only had one shrimp. Your dry sense of humor is wonderful! We're so looking forward to following along on this one-month adventure! :)
All Love from Sweden to you and your sailing and video´s that you give us dreamers in Alaska from a sailor in Sweden but only in the Baltic countries so far Wish you all luck
A new subscriber here. I'm born and raised in Florida USA. I have never seen and experienced snow at all. Watching you opens a whole new exciting world for me. Keep up the great work. Stay safe.
As an American I must express my deepest thanks for catching our majestic national bird, the Bald Eagle, squirting out some Bald Eagle guano. Cheers to you, Sir!
Lot of firsts. First solo maneuvering and docking in this boat. Always exciting. First solo anchoring as well as test run on new windlass. Shrimping. More to come. New boat, new waters. Exciting times for you. Thanks for letting me watch.
The shrimping and cooking are a nice addition to the channel. I'm looking forward to seeing what you catch and how you cook it next time. It's a shame that you don't eat meat because pollack is great stuffed with chorizo, wrapped in bacon and then roasted. ❤😊❤😊❤
You say that if feels like being in a movie at some point in this video. To us non arctic sailors, YOU ARE IN THE MOVIE! YOU ARE THE MOVIE! Which we love by the way!! 🎉🎉🎉
When I saw the tittle it made me think of the Books written by Tristram Jones , A man invalidated out of the British army in the 1950's who lived for sailing for the rest of his life going round the world , usually on his own Great video , Sir .
I did a major forestry project on Montague Island in PWS. Big bears on that Island. There is very heavy snow fall in PWS. Although climate change may have some impact, historic snow levels are very high; depths of 45 feet have been measured on the crest of the ridge on Montague Island, the largest island in PWS.
Always look forward to another of your life adventures. Just a FYI. Avoid using boat fenders for a Pot float. Use only the Bullet shaped floats which are designed to duck under the waves or swells and leave the pot undisturbed and still on the bottom. there is too much buoyancy with a fender and the pot can lift and move and in significant wave action the pot can actually "walk away". Hope this helps.
I’ve never seen shrimp pots before. Here in south Louisiana we catch shrimp in nets but that was cool to see. I’m a chef so I have a tip when sautéing shrimp like that. Save that last pay of butter for the end. Turn off the heat and melt the butter in while stirring vigorously. It makes a nice sauce. Love the content ❤
My mom was born in this general region. I was blown away the first time I got to visit as a kid. It is raw wild beauty. Hard to really capture but this definitely is a good representation of it.
A very magic location. Maybe you didnlt notice but your whole interaction in this episode came across as being very direct and personal, I think solo sailing and being alone is part of this process.
I had a 30 foot sloop in Whittier in the late 70s to the mid 80s. I loved anchoring in the little hole at the head of Bettles Bay. In those days we caught king crab about where you are shrimping. PWS is beautiful and bountiful.
Just want you to know that I subscribed ages ago. For some reason I wasn't doing that much YT watching of sailing channels until recently. Funny, because that's really in the family blood. As an aside, I had a mate back in Sydney Oz, when I was a kid at uni who was Finnish. Kalevi was his name. His faher was in the shipbuilding industry and he worked for Syd Fischer who desiged several competitors for the America's Cup, before it went crazy with foiling cats and the like. Enjoying your stuff. I'm finding the cooking shows quite entertaining, so keep them going if you like to do them.
I love the wildlife and nature, absolutely beautiful. The info on the avalanche was super interesting, enjoy your dinner. Thanks for sharing your unique experiences. 😊
After watching since you are a skier, now I see you are on a vintage Garcia, and then you go all culinary and catch, cook and eat one shrimp. I was subscribed, now I am a proud patron on Patreon. Cheers!
Also yes to more cooking videos: in particular catch and cook. Other food is less interesting to me, but since I do some remote rv camping I can appreciate that kind of cookng to a lesser degree.
As usual, excellent videography, especially of the wild life. Sailing + cooking channel, two for one. Getting many likes on my heather t-shirt. Quality material and workmanship. Stay safe.
Happy to see this channel taking off. I think there were 18k subscribers when I came aboard. I know Lumi isn’t finished yet, but what are your impressions with her so far? Seems like a good boat tomme but I know nothing about boats.
Excellent fishing, or shrimping I should say. Everything is so much better when fresh. I think anyway. Thanks for sharing these great adventures of yours, they are great
What a great catch. The eagle pooping ha ha ha. Anyone else sees the face on the mountain exactly at 29:12? This solo sailing and filming is really interesting. Your interaction with the camera and generally filming is different. Looking forward to the next episode.
The bit about the lifestyle vlog coffee montage was hilarious! Maybe put a GoPro in your cup as you drink it? This solo content is great. Feels like a challenge. Section on the avalanche was super-interesting. Looking forward to the next one.
Lovely filming mate its great to see local animals and bird life and great to see you do some fishing its fish are really great tucker keep it coming mate, have watched your videos from day one and it's great to see how the quality and content has grown 😊
Hello :) just finished reading an article in Iltalehti about your rescue mission, absolute wonderful that you had the drone up at that moment and that you were in the area, a real everyday hero with smart thinking 🙂

Excited for your upcoming vids!!!!!
Will he get eaten by a shrimp? XD
Awesome episode, your videos keep getting better and better. Thank you!
Thanks, very enjoyable!
What an incredible life you have. ☮️💜

That Bold Eagle moment is priceless!
I lived in Alaska for about 40 years. That eagle poop shot was very impressive.
Lolol ofcorse you'd notice that. Spoken like a true Alaskan.
Most or all birds of prey poop in one shot, everything combined together. that Bald Eagle shot was nasty big. I used to be a falconer.
best of luck to Sohvi on her thesis defense
TH-cam needs to promote your channel more
Hey that's my boat! I was the guy right behind you at the fuel dock. I thought you handled your boat approach like a pro. The wind blew be off the dock. Haha it was great to see ya
:D nice! i remember you! we'll be back in Whittier, maybe I'll see you there again!
@AlluringArctic let me know I would love to chat and give you some local information on the area.
You should already have a million subscribers. The refit was enough to hook me. Then the photography, knowledge and best of all, the humor. Can't imagine a warm weather sailor clicking on this and not finding it addicting to watch.
I agree TOTALLT... Brilliant channel. love the monotone voice!!
Great at everything! Not easy using drone, sailing, navigating, and talking to the camera all at the same time! Wonderful talent!!
I fully agree with you. One of the bigest talents at TH-cam.
Not to mention cooking garlic shrimps!!!
Seriously skilful Juho, very, very well done re drones & navigation.
He needs another woman..one that can help not one who sleeps all day .
I salute your solo sailing, filming, drone footage, wildlife, deep thoughtful observation of climate and time, shrimping, lifestyle cooking, and soulful enjoyment of a happy comedic life.👏

Best cooking channel ever 😜. 10/10 for the shrimp👍
I came for the cool sailing location, but I was blown away by the cinematography and storytelling. This is so good, thank you
possibly your best posting yet. Great job.
Wow, thanks!
i thought that too, great work.
They just keep getting better
“Windlass replacement just 2hr job” … haha … old mariner told me boat jobs measured 1hr=1day, 2hrs=2 days etc!
Re your joke about the shrimp noodles - The Fins under the flag ( siniristilippu) have such a sense of humour!
Beautiful video once again well done
You are certainly one piece of work. Skiing alone from a sailboat in winter in Alaska. I just love it. Stick with it, my friend. Don't ever change. you are wonderful just as you are.
I don't know why you don't have many more subs, your filming is excellent.
The posting isn't regular enough. You need months of weekly (or more frequent) uploads to build up momentum
It's a pretty good number for a sailing channel. It deserves a wider audience really.
Superb pictures. Very gutsy to be hanging around up there all on your own.
The new Life style Guru is born ;-)
Nothing can beat good Finnish humor. 😅😅😅

OMG the one shrimp plate special "presentation is important", hilarious!
Being able to catch your own shrimp is really cool. Be safe and don’t take any chances with those avalanches. Gather food during the day and show us your cooking skills!
This episode is great and your humor is hilarious, genuinely funny, fantastic shooting/editing as well.
Love your preparation of the one shrimp, hahaha! Love your scenic footage! Keep it up, love from Sweden!
Fantastic as always

The Best Cold Climate Sailing Channel!, Love Your Videos, A Little Like a modern Shackleton. Best Regards, ⛵
14:47 incredible video of the American Bald Eagle, the bird of pray that represents the USA🎉. Shrimp at the end makes me HUNGRY 😢
I love your videos. Solo sailing is great, but having someone there with you is we are meant to experience life. Come back soon Sohvi!
Hidden gem of a channel... somehow, that "One" shrimp must have tasted OH SO GOOD!!
As an American I must express my deepest thanks for catching our majestic national bird, the Bald Eagle, squirting out some Bald Eagle guano. Cheers to you, Sir!
@14:38 WOW!!!!!
that should be on the Quarter for Alaska LOL
Never seen that before!!! He thrusted and shot that out with some trajectory on it LOL
Lot of firsts. First solo maneuvering and docking in this boat. Always exciting. First solo anchoring as well as test run on new windlass. Shrimping. More to come. New boat, new waters. Exciting times for you. Thanks for letting me watch.

super nice!! The feeling of freedom you must have must be out of this world!
I've seen a documentary on the residents of the building shown at the beginning, it was really interesting. Happy sailing.
That's a prawn 🦐 mate.

😂😂😂😂😂the eagle shitting I’m in stitches! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭and the shrimp dinner! Presentation is everything! 😭😭😭

Yup .. Great photography as usual but I was getting hungry looking at those delicious, fresh shrimp . Congratulations Sohvi!

✊🏻🏴 must be raining all over we have not seen the sun for more than a day or two this summer 😂bring on the snow! ✊🏻
There is something unique about being in solitude in the wilderness. Your preparation makes the journey and is much about it. Good work
My mom was born in this general region. I was blown away the first time I got to visit as a kid. It is raw wild beauty. Hard to really capture but this definitely is a good representation of it.
I love your lifestyle . Wish I could be sailing with you. Love your boat too!! Thank you for sharing your travels ....❣️
Juho, the views you captured of Alaska are Absolutely Beautiful!. 🌫🏞🗻🌲
As always, 👍👍👍👍👍 Just great !!! From Bonnie and Wilf in Powell River, BC Canada. You are just GREAT!!! Thank you.
Thank you such an entertaining video! The shrimp looked delicious! Be safe😊

Incredible episode, gorgeous scenery!
Great timing! Was just looking for something inspiring to watch before hitting the bed and bang there it was, a notice from Alaska. Thank you !
Always watch your videos. thanks 👍
As usual, excellent videography, especially of the wild life. Sailing + cooking channel, two for one. Getting many likes on my heather t-shirt. Quality material and workmanship. Stay safe.
That’s the unluckiest shrimp in the whole of Alaska.
Good to see you.

I know Lumi isn’t finished yet, but what are your impressions with her so far? Seems like a good boat tomme but I know nothing about boats.
Boats arw never "finished". When you are done with the to do list, you start from the oldest stuff. This doesn't really happen ever though
Excellent fishing, or shrimping I should say. Everything is so much better when fresh. I think anyway. Thanks for sharing these great adventures of yours, they are great
its 108 F here in the middle of Texas, fresh shrimp and cooler weather sounds pretty inviting!
Oh, that was a great one!!!
What a great catch. The eagle pooping ha ha ha. Anyone else sees the face on the mountain exactly at 29:12? This solo sailing and filming is really interesting. Your interaction with the camera and generally filming is different. Looking forward to the next episode.

Excellent. I enjoyed every minute.
Glad to see you back with more adventures :)
you know, that is the best from this channel I've seen in at least a year. The vibe, calmness and focus was and is something I want more of.
Lovely filming mate its great to see local animals and bird life and great to see you do some fishing its fish are really great tucker keep it coming mate, have watched your videos from day one and it's great to see how the quality and content has grown 😊
"It feels like being in a movie"
You are in a movie, what a great trip.
I could watch this content all day, thank you! 😊
Thanks for sharing...
Love the new lifestyle type content! 😊
Great video! I really appareciate your ironic sense of humour. And I really love schrimps too! Ciao!
Hello :) just finished reading an article in Iltalehti about your rescue mission, absolute wonderful that you had the drone up at that moment and that you were in the area, a real everyday hero with smart thinking 🙂
Eagle poop and one shrimp masterclass! Fantastic! 😂
Good luck to Sohvi.
Just love your adventures, filming and care for the environment
I really enjoy that we get to visit these places through your hiking and skiing, in addition to the through scenic bays.
Huhhuh, kateeks käy👍
