Sebastian Lague I participated for the 3rd time after a 2 year break. Used your videos to animate the frog in my game. ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/$24839
My first time making a game. I wasted day one attempting an idea that was just too much for myself to do in 48 hours. I had to settle for a simple orb collection game due to time and me being useless at modelling (I went the low poly route, found everything quite easy to model). I used your spherical world tutorial (thanks) which helped big time. Game is not amazing at all, but it's my first game ever, and I had fun. Everytime Ludum Dare comes around, I always say I will try and take part, but I never do, I just end up watching streams instead. ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/planet-orb-trials-time-attack
the reason why i love this video so much is because its not just him always doing whats right and the programming process going smoothly but instead he had challenges and didn't know what to do but the overcame that so that was really cool to watch.
I love it. The atmosphere is what pulls this game together. You've got the music to go with the space theme, you've got the gradual intensity and you don't need to think. You just get lost in space (literally) and dodge big rocks. (post comp ver, i havent played the original but it shouldn't change much).
this is so great. Imagine if you can get the 'near misses' to be gravitationally attracted to your world making it harder? great video enjoyed it very much
Neat game! Really like this summery of your Ludum Dare proces. Sadly my own game kinda flopped this time because my idea required too much scripting(random world generation+pathfinding just for making levels so not even gameplay) and spend too little time on game making that weekend.
Nice video! I can't believe how many people used Jukedeck for music. I found out about it and told some people on Discord who were participating in LD with me and we all ended up using it!
I've done a few LDs now, I can so sympathise with physics being a menace, haha. Here my team's entry for ld38 if you want to check it out: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/ant-detective
Thanks for the behind the scenes look at your development process! I did Ludum Jam for the first time this year, and made a game in PhaserJS: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/no-step-on-hyoomins/ - however, I have been studying Unity programming using the tutorials on the site including your cave generation tutorial, which is how I found and subscribed to your channel. Thanks for sharing what you've learned with the world! Hopefully my next game will be Unity.
this is one of the best looking games of this ludumdare! i couldnt participate in this one tho :/ i have a question, do you know a good tutorial series for photoshop? i ahve to learn photoshop for stuff like basic ui elements and basic texturing. most of photoshop tutorials focus on photo editing. i need stuff that game developers need :P
really enjoy this game! haha - I play it when I've got a couple mins at work pretty often haha. very nice and relaxing. My high score is 256 I think! :) Anyway - thanks for the great free game!
Hey Sebastian! It was my first time on Ludum Dare. Thanks to you I finally decided I was good enough to take part. My overly-ambitious game: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/my-very-own-world
1:05 Ha! That reminds me of Astroneer! The rovers and trucks always fly off into all directions. Is that inverse kinematics? I would like to know What goes behind that strange behavior.
Hey, thanks for the video, I can completely sympathize with rope physics... I've toiled for hours on that problem, likewise with music. I tried a rather ambitious physics problem for my LD jam entry, where I tried to get orbiting planets to collide and knock each other into different orbits, this was abandoned for a more direct approach. Anyway if you have the time my entry link is: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/planet-hell. Thanks for all the great videos!
This was my first time participating in Ludum Dare. I created a small "farming simulator" with pixel graphics. ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/little-sky-farm
Quick question, what exactly did you use to generate the music? Awesome submission as always, here's a link to my game : ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/food-fight
As with all your work pretty much, I really enjoyed both the video and your entry! It's always really interesting to see the "Behind the scenes" for this kind of events! My ludum dare entry can be found here if you want to take a look: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/leucos
thanks , what about the games made using unity , they are very big for android samarthphone, and the users don't like to download big size games , is there a solution.
Really enjoyed your physics explanation, interesting to see it from the inside! My first Ludum Dare entry is here ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/pilgrim
so it's just a matter of preference cause i really want to make my own models , my own imagination but sadly I'm not able to pay some blender courses , but your modeling videos gave me hope to learn Blender along side with Unity . keep up the nice work and video *thumbs Up* :)
Hey, great job finishing. I had the same thing happen a few LD's ago. Gave up on my first idea, and had to do a game in half the time. Guess we can just call that nightmare mode (the compo being hard mode already). Anyway, You can play my teams game at ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/little-house-of-horrors-working-title if you want to.
Used your video on delegates as a reference through LD, first time I've used them, so thanks for that :) Here's the game ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/ant-forts
Sorry, did not mean to be all internet-troll-y in the first comment. Well, usually comets are much bigger (if turtle is to scale), or smaller (if planet is to scale) and have a streak away from the star. Also they are extremely rare. Asteroids are much more common and come in all sizes. While it is theoretically possible you mean comets those probably are asteroids
great concept for the challenge! if you ever want to talk about upping your music skills, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. you helped me so much with unity it's only fair I offer whatever advice you might need :)
I'm flattered! I'm working on adding more educational content focused on writing music for games, but I have a LOT of stream recordings of working on game music available to view if you just want to watch someone work. You can message me on Twitter @ben_burnes as well if you have specific questions. Would be happy to help.
Hey, I've participated too! And most of my Unity3D skills were learnt with your videos : thanks you. You can play my first Ludum Dare game here : ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/zeus-vs-mole
About the dreamlo, how do I add a new high score when i finish the game without getting NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object error?
aye i know this is from 2017 but if somehow you see this comment i can make musics for you! like, no cost. i can do musics in one day just reply this comment if you want me to create some musics!
Sebastian Lague What part of South Africa are you from? I had wondered if you were South African but also wasn't exactly sure. I, myself, am also South African and also seemed to have a non-standard accent that has people saying I don't sound South African...
Hello! You can play the game here: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/space-turtle
Don't forget to link your own game if you participated.

It's my first entry

The feeling of spending lots of time finding solutions to a problem and ultimately solving it is lighter than a feather.
I love it. The atmosphere is what pulls this game together. You've got the music to go with the space theme, you've got the gradual intensity and you don't need to think. What a cute game. It's always nice to see behind the scene development stuff!
Props for the cross vector idea to keep the world right side up. That's real smart.
4:32 That's usually how I code.
Thank you for sharing your experience. The turtle looks really nice!
well done ^^. Adjust and adapt is the core of Ludum dare.
Nice to see failure being embraced. Thanks for sharing!
Great Video, thanks for your ludum dare video, it's always great!
congrats on the million subscribers! well deserved. kudos
Nice inverse kinematics model for the rope. A solid, reasonably simple solution!
That looks awesome. Definitely has some charm!
Ow...such a honor to see a genius working! Congratulations...very, very cool channel you have sir.
Looking forward to actually having time to participate again!
Great looking game, really nice video too!
Really love the concept of this!
Hi, Sebas, Using your forehead for the C minor chord is a good idea. :)... anyway, good job, man.
A very inspiring video!
Thanks for this, hopefully one day I would share with you a Ludum Dare entry of my own
Neat game! Really like this summery of your Ludum Dare proces. Sadly my own game kinda flopped this time because my idea required too much scripting(random world generation+pathfinding just for making levels so not even gameplay) and spend too little time on game making that weekend.

also a link to my game, it quite similar to yours. ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/snail-away
Neat! Nice stuff (: cool solution for keeping the earth upright.
Its nice to play with interstellar soundtrack in the background.
I like the explosion effect. Awesome! xD
I really liked your game. It was way cool.
I've done a few LDs now, I can so sympathise with physics being a menace, haha. Here my team's entry for ld38 if you want to check it out: ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/ant-detective
really nice game for the limited time you had! I just cracked the Highscore, nice feature :)
Hello! Enjoying all of this, I was wondering if you will be continuing procedural landmass generation series? :)
Amazing
it's turtles all the way down
Great video
And for my debut Ludum Dare submission...
ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/pizza-avventura
is there gonna be a tutorial about the physics of this game, someday?
Awesome work as usual! Cheers!
amazing game
if it will be online game its be amazing.Like every turtles have own planet mars pluton venera anything like that and every turtle trys save his world
Chaining planets together or increasing the rope length as time increase would be nice

Sebastian League, can u make a video showing us the explosion effect? that's f***ing amazing
really enjoy this game! haha - I play it when I've got a couple mins at work pretty often haha. very nice and relaxing. My high score is 256 I think! :) Anyway - thanks for the great free game!

Taraka Pranav Rayudu Heard they lowered the center of gravity on the rovers to prevent some crashes from occurring :p
Can you give a tutorial on randomly spawn the objects like you did with the commets?
Woah, what happened to your awesome little team?
Cool, but... Where's the rest of the terrain generation tutorials?
Did you also have problems with Dreamlo and WebGL build?
Hey Sebastian, did you join LD39 because, I have been waiting for the behind the scene of LD39. :
+Mayo Linist I didn't take part.
I recently came across your behind the scenes videos and am curious what routes you took to learn programming with C# and in Unity?
Hey, thanks for the video, I can completely sympathize with rope physics... I've toiled for hours on that problem, likewise with music. Reminds me of the maturin of the dark tower series
is there any chance of seeing all the 48h (- sleeping time) of your development?
greetings
Hey Sebastian will you ever finish the procedural generation tutorials I was really sad when I got to E17 and realized there was no E18
Yes, I intend to continue work on it later this month.
Awesome thanks for the update :D
Its okay, I guess^^
thanks , what about the games made using unity , they are very big for android samarthphone, and the users don't like to download big size games , is there a solution.

nice job man but why you always use low poly models in your games why not smooth them ? thanks in advanced
+Lyes Bourahla I quite like the low poly look :)
so it's just a matter of preference cause i really want to make my own models , my own imagination but sadly I'm not able to pay some blender courses , but your modeling videos gave me hope to learn Blender along side with Unity . keep up the nice work and video

Where do you work? Like, is this your job?
Hey, great job finishing. I had the same thing happen a few LD's ago. Gave up on my first idea, and had to do a game in half the time. This game is one of the darkest games ive ever seen in a ludum dare
You are amazing I love you.
Next time let me know if you need some Music :) Nice informative video!
Used your video on delegates as a reference through LD, first time I've used them, so thanks for that :)
Here's the game ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/ant-forts
terry pratchett approves
Just missing some elephants!
If you search on google "Indie game developer meme" there's an image with you Sebastian, LoL :)
This game should be called "Flat Earth"
The name of my game is Ghost Scaling
3:14 oof
Did he showed his dreamlo adress? THATS UNSECURE CHANGE IT NOW
THOSE ARE ASTEROIDS NOT COMETS!
How so? I looked up the definitions and thought I was in the clear here.
Sorry, did not mean to be all internet-troll-y in the first comment.

Perhaps some subconcious inspiration from discworld? No? Ok
Wait.
Is this inspired by Doctor Who?
More specifically by the star whale from "Beast Below"?
This game: killing an entire planet by pulling it away from it's sun and freezing everything on it :D. That's physics for ya ;).
aye i know this is from 2017 but if somehow you see this comment i can make musics for you!
like, no cost. i can do musics in one day
just reply this comment if you want me to create some musics!
I saw the name
:0
I gived you the 100,d like :)
Publish your games in Play Market. This with accelerometer support
Space turtle? You mean Exurb1a? :-D
hey, do you happen to be german? :)
+Lars Nope, South African :)
Cool! :D
Sebastian Lague What part of South Africa are you from? I had wondered if you were South African but also wasn't exactly sure. I, myself, am also South African and also seemed to have a non-standard accent that has people saying I don't sound South African...
Cape Town
Sebastian Lague Northern or Southern suburbs? Or more along the Atlantic seaboard?
RIP Highscores. Cause of death: Private key shared. Although anyone could use cheat engine too... Whatever.
your keyboard made me puke
